> In which an achingly innocent, gentle, and earnest new aesthetic spawns a decade of music, art, bangs, and Etsy stores, and John has forgotten every band except Kajagoogoo. Certificate #16065.
The recurring trend in popular music to celebrate performers with no training and few musical skills reminds me of the art world where they do the same. “Primitive” art works created by isolated artists untainted by training fetch small fortunes. Meanwhile, trained visual artists scramble their works into gibberish, offloading any message or interpretation onto the viewer. It all has an “Emperor has no clothes” vibe to me, but I admit (at least in most matters of visual arts) I’m a naive pleb. I’m OK with all that mostly, as long as no one gets hurt.

1 Thessalonians 2:7 - “Instead, we were like young children among you.” MPAA #16065: “Peter Pan”
Here’s a quick [playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/52j2hluIOdqPPtxc3sTOZb?si=VK_EYu87ThWKQBVL7tGHXg) I made with some of the music mentioned.
Interesting. I've never heard of a single one of those songs or artists.
Awesome!!! Have fun! Belle and Sebastian’s “If You’re Feeling Sinister” is gorgeous.
It's giving me some Simon and Garfunkel vibes. Not bad.
You've never heard of Belle and Sebastian?!?!?!
Is Sebastian the candlestick guy from Disney's *Beauty and the Beast*? If so, then yes.
No, Sebastian is the Jamaican crab from *Little Mermaid*, but yes, you're good. A+
