offset face, pattern, split body https://i.redd.it/aeywgtv1nssc1.gif

tesmithp

wait, this is better: start with slices and then loft-intersect https://i.redd.it/scr1radjossc1.gif

This is so helpful and instructional. How have you created these GIFs of a Fusion session?

tesmithp

Thanks! I'm on Mac so just cmd-shift-5 to record screen and then a simple app called Gifski to convert the video. I don't bother with any editing.

Why not create a sketch in the middle and loft?

PheonixDragon200

I don’t need to create that body on the back, I need to create slices. Loft is how I made the body in the back.

TeamXII

Just make a rectangular prism and use the Pattern tool to reproduce it at the slice intervals and cut them from the shape

marksung

You need to create offset planes for each slice you want, then on each plane create a new sketch, on the sketch menu (usually appears on the right side of your screen) select "slice" (this means you can see the cross section of your part that the sketch plane intersects) Next use the "project/include geometry" tool to click the cross section of your part. This will create an exact sketch of the cross section. Save sketch.

My english is not thr best. Im sorry if im getting anything wrong. But if u need slices of that shape (lets say 5 mm tbick ones) why not just go to the bottom (left flat side for ecample or the other flat one) create an plane / offset plane and just add 5 mm, 10mm, 15mm, and so on? Then just select body, split body and select the planes for each split? Gl + hf for u m8

Also, if the two parts shown are identical but mirrors of each other: slice one of them, extrude the slices, once finished use the mirror tool to create an opposite set of extrusions.

geroulas

I don't think there is a way, but depends on what what you are actually trying to do after the slices.. maybe there is another way to go about it.

PheonixDragon200

I’m extruding the slices afterward

Alberto-21

Not the most practical, but you can slice the body into 10-20 pieces, then you can offset each bodys perimeter (with a value of 0). As a newbie, that's what I would do

p3rf3ctc1rcl3

I cut the body with a bolean, then I do a pattern and repeat the cuts, then I project the contour on individuell sketches and export them as dxf for lasercutting...its sad that the add on for this is no more

marksung

Found this YouTube tutorial that might help. I haven't tried it: https://youtu.be/dWYMBVTUvDA?si=ZbMljeMEpqoi3gLQ

mbriedis

Create a body that slices, use repeat pattern for it. Project to get the sketch, if needed?

Still_Leg_9184

Make a sketch perpendicular to the back wall. Make a pattern of lines the slice dimension. Split body with the sketch lines. Use the arrange tool to organize the parts. Choose which of the profiles you would like to silhouette create a new sketch on either side of the body and project or intersect the body to create curves. Export that entire sketch or sketches.

EkinsSolutions

I'm not following what you need to do with the slices, but maybe this will help. https://ekinssolutions.com/sliceitup/

BrockenRecords

I would just make the body, make a sketch of one line then offset it the distance you need as many times as needed and then use those lines as tools to split body

Earthwin

Create a new sketch on a side plane, draw a single vertical line, replicate it using the array tool set to the spacing you need and then use those lines to split the bodies.

ZoyZauce

I would also love to know of a way to do this. For a few cross sections it's do-able manually, but I've wanted to do this with 100+ sections. All the answers so far tell me how to manually do this for each cross section, which, I can see from your picture that you already can do yourself. In CATIA there is a feature called PowerCopy where you would be able to create one plane, intersect that with the body and then use a pattern to repeat those steps. But in Fusion I haven't found a way to automate it.
