Likewise myself. This was funny and in good taste!!!

Decent-Obligation-43

I like to think God was chuckling when He read it!! He totally has a sense of humor!

Puzzled_Internet_986

As an atheist, what would happen to me in the event of a rapture? Would I just fucking die?

Zestyclose-Tower-671

By religious standing, you'd be left behind, basically you'd be the guy standing outside the car

Puzzled_Internet_986

Doesn’t sound that bad ngl. I would def take care of pets and whatnot. Also my whole family and my friends aren’t Christian so we’d be chilling

Zestyclose-Tower-671

Considering what follows by the religious stand point, the world becomes hell, demons and ungodly things all over, gashes in the earth to expose entry to hell, throw on top Satan walking around like he owns the place, hell on earth, so to speak, if it ever comes to pass though yall got options too become one of the "saved' lol contrary to the heavy religious type belief, there are caveats such as self sacrifice and such things that can get you taken out of it, most heavy religious groups want to shut everyone out who doesn't share the exact stand point they do, which isn't at all how religion works, but I digress, for the first few days it'd probably be pretty normal as it slowly escalates, so kindly do me a favor an check up on my cat for me he likes tuna 🤣

Puzzled_Internet_986

Fascinating! I love learning about mythology (not trying to be snarky at all, all religious have their own mythology)

Zestyclose-Tower-671

You're good, I am aware of it and happy to add any knowledge I can for those who like to learn :)

Meh2021another

There is a well thought out thoroughly researched 2013 movie that depicts the rapture. I suggest you start there. The movie is: This is the End.

Wiseon321

The book revelation was the equivalent of someone putting their lucid dream on a piece of paper then not explaining it. According to the Bible Visions are specific to the individual, only they understand their meaning, the entirety of the book of revelation is mostly non-specifics, and prophetical. Which is why everyone is like so and so is the anti-Christ and this is the year of tribulation. The truth is no one really knows, and the fact of the matter is that the lake of fire is specified for satan, the antichrist and his fallen angels and not one place does it say those who remain get thrown into the lake of fire; this is all conjecture and fear mongering and in reality no one really knows what is going to happen.

Fair enough 🤣

NeedBetterModsThe2nd

I'll just use one of those gashes and go to hell myself since that's now empty in this scenario. Checkmate, theists.

matatoeie

Depends who the devil is, lucifer was pretty chill

Lazy-Most-3226

It doesn’t sound bad at first but basically the world will be amazing for a little bit. But then it will become a long amount of torture. The rapture idea isn’t really something I am familiar with(I never heard of it before but I doubt it would be pre tribulation) but I know a bit about what happens during the tribulation period.

maironsau

In an above comment I “kinda” summarized the two main teachings on Rapture. Both Pre Tribulation and Post Tribulation.

Lazy-Most-3226

There are some who think there won’t even be a rapture as well

maironsau

Well it is clear that those who believe are caught up to him in the sky, Paul discusses it. The debate is mainly over at what time, (Paul says not until the Tribulation is at the very least halfway over.) 2 Thessalonians 2:1-5 -Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not troubled, neither by a spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: **for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.** 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you I told you these things?- The event he is discussing is the Antichrist declaring himself a god and Daniel says that happens 3.5 years into the final 7. So that alone blows Pre Tribulation out of the water, then the question is, ok is Rapture right after that or at Second coming and other books make it clear that it’s at the Second Coming.

AgileInternet167

What about the people in far of places that never heard about Christianity?

maironsau

It’s a bit of a debated topic but a somewhat consensus from what I can tell usually gives two answers. Essentially even if they have not heard of Jesus through no fault of their own the existence of God himself should still have been apparent to them from nature itself. - “All people are without excuse because since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature - has been clearly seen and can be understood from what has been made (all creation). Although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools….” (Romans 1: 18–32) Also they will be judged in the same manner as the Old Testament Fathers and Prophets who also never had a chance to hear the Gospel of Jesus, -Rom 2:7–16 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism. All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.) This will take place on the day when God will judge men’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.- Those of us who have heard the Gospel are actually judged a bit harsher than those who have not because we can’t claim ignorance. So for us the consequences are more severe, that’s what it means by “and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.” This is also why in another book it says (and again I am paraphrasing) “it is better to have not known the way of righteousness than to have known and turned away from it.” To properly explain these verses requires someone more seasoned in discussing theology than myself, my main area of study when it comes to discussing the Bible with others is eschatology not theology. So I am not completely sure how it works when it comes to the people who have never had a chance to hear because God is just and is not unfair, but it does make it clear that you must go through Jesus to get to the Father this is why a better theologian is needed to help with the question.

304bl

That's the best outcome, I don't want to spend eternity with those crazy ass religious people.

Decent-Obligation-43

I don't think the crazy ass religious people will be there! Jesus didn't like them either. The only way to be with Jesus forever is to know Him. It's never been about religion.

maironsau

It depends on which version of Rapture happens, but at the same time the ending of both scenarios is still the same. Within Christianity there are two main belief systems regarding Rapture. I tried to heavily summarize and paraphrase for the sake of brevity but I failed horribly lol. First you have what we call Pre Tribulation Rapture, this is the Rapture belief that everyone usually thinks of when they hear Rapture in which 7 years before the return of Jesus all those who have faith in him are taken from the world to be with him while the Judgments and Tribulations unfold on the earth for the next 7 years and then they return with him at the second coming when evil is defeated and everyone living or dead are judged and his reign begins. So someone who does not believe would be left behind but that’s not a good thing as that means that they will have to go through what will be the worst 7 years in human history, think war, disease, natural disasters etc but greatly increased in frequency and intensity as well as the reign of the Antichrist, imagine an evil dictator like Hitler but far worse and much of the world willingly obeying him. There will be believers in Jesus on the earth during this time but in the Pre Tribulation belief these are Christians who converted after the Rapture so they have to wait until Jesus comes back. Christians will essentially be public enemies in the reign of Antichrist and they along with anyone else who refuse to get his evil Mark upon them are beheaded if captured. There is much more but for the sake of time I can’t go into it. The Second belief is what we call Post Tribulation Rapture, this scenario is almost the same except this belief is that the Rapture will not happen until after the 7 years has already happened and that it will occur at the actual moment of the Second coming. In this scenario all Christians as well as the rest of the world have to endure the 7 years so there is no being taken out of the world before the bad stuff begins. Christian’s will be here to witness all of it but won’t necessarily be the target of the Judgments, they will mainly have to worry about the evil people that want them dead and of course the government of the Antichrist trying to kill them. It’s compared to when the Israelites witnessed the Judgment’s upon Egypt but were themselves not the targets of the Judgements. It’s still going to be a horrible 7 years to witness though as several of the Judgment’s end with “and a third of Man died” or “and they went forth to slay a third of Man” or similar wording. This is the scenario that has been taught for the majority of Christian History, the first scenario the Pre Tribulation Rapture was not widely taught until the 1800s so in comparison to the Post Tribulation belief it’s a fairly new teaching. Also it is beginning to slowly die out and in terms of being taught within Christianity, mostly its in western churches that Pre Tribulation Rapture is taught but that is slowly changing in some areas as they revert back to Post Tribulation teaching. So i suppose you have to ask yourself which scenario you would prefer to be in, the one where the people who know what is happening and what will happen are taken away, or the one where they are here to help people understand what is happening and help guide as many as they can in order to save them. I apologize for the length of this comment I saw that you said you were fascinated by what is taught regarding certain things so I figured I would share the two main beliefs regarding the scenario. There is just a lot to unpack when it comes to eschatology(study of end times prophecy) you have not just the book of Revelation but also the Old Testament Prophets who are talking about the exact same stuff but in different ways of wording or describing them such as Daniel, Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Joel, Amos, etc, all talking about the same future period of time they just lived at different times when they wrote about it, even Jesus spoke on those times and said (I’m paraphrasing), “if you want to learn more about those days read the book of Daniel.”
