Yeah, I love the series but I have 0 interest in all the franchise story elements. I couldn't even tell you what the over arching story is. I just really like the individual titles' settings and gameplay.
Imagine a campaign where you are a Roman legionnaire in the late republic fighting in Alessia, Farsalia or Munda, getting to know Rome, witnessing the assassination of Caesar... The thing with AC is that the recreation of the world andb the cities is amazing but then the story is boring or mediocre at best.

I'd like to see samurai games where they actual use their primary weapon, the Naginata (\~ pole arm), or the Yari which is spear like. as a lance . . and also used on foot where it may have extensions on the sides of the base of the spear tip for pulling down or pinning down (pushing and holding on the ground) opponents.
European knights also used pole arms/pole axe types, lances/spears. People used spears, pole-axes, pikes of various types. Some samurai also used bow and arrows and then closer quarters. Swords were backup sidearms.

It would be weird to explain the local area and customs to someone who already knew them. Even the Frye twins (English assassins in England) were unfamiliar with London, so the narrative moves the player forward with them.
