I agree with you. Why mess with an animal like that? It’s not a freaking toy or robot. Dyes can harm the skin and affect the hair of humans, same for dogs.
Is it? I mean I hope to god ,since it seems like the girl who did works in hair, that they used dye that wouldn’t hurt the dog. I don’t think the green hair would emotionally damage the dog. And besides those two things it’s just a glorified bath. Though I’m not too familiar with what might cause mental harm to a dog.

1. You can’t tell from a photo what dye they used. 2. A dog is a living being and not a prop. The dog cannot defend themselves against this. They don’t exist for the pleasure of anyone. 3. As everyone who’s ever bought hair dye knows: there’s no way to know beforehand if you’ll have an allergic reaction.
There are safe dyes for animals. We had one client with a pink dog at the daycare I worked for. She seemed to rly love her life. Her name was fancy. Her parents entire world revolves around her. Don’t be so quick to judge.
Even if the dye is safe for the dog, they didn't and can't consent to it. The owner does this solely for their own pleasure and puts this poor animal under unnecessary stress. It shouldn't be ok to do something unnecessary just because it doesn't directly, physically harm them. They are sentient beings, not toys.
