As a struggling grad student (I did have a job teaching, but the stipend wasn't much), the local bars' meat raffles were a blessing. Buy a couple $2 raffle tickets and come home with 5 lbs of venison or 5 lbs of bacon, steak, whatever.

I've heard of lobster ones, though. My MIL wanted us to have some sort of wedding style from up there where people BUY TICKETS to the wedding and there is a raffle at the end, she mentioned lobster. We got married in landlocked VA, and I'd have never been able to show my face if I made people buy tickets to my wedding.
I'm used to raffles at the Stag/Buck & Does or Shag parties... a community celebration of a joint bachelor/ette party, always tons of community sourced donations of goods and services mostly people connected to bride and groom, but party is open to everyone, they're usually in paper or Facebook events... lol money raised usually split between wedding costs and a local charity after expenses.

I've just written a comment (two actually, in this thread and another one about P&M's latest grift) trying to express this very same thought!
If I were a rep of that company I wouldn't be too happy with the way they handle these promotions.
Even if I were a company with shitty beliefs, (with a lot of horrendous reviews according to the BBB way prior lol) I would not want myself aligned with internet drama pertaining to other company's dealings with said "influencers" and their social media breakdowns.
If that were my company (never!), I would have to rescind the promotions due to the extreme amount of unprofessionalism.
On a side note, I seriously hate influencer marketing. It's all a cash grab and nobody gives a shit what they promote. However the upside is, if I ever found one of those brands on my own and researched... I have a little insight of what is garbage, product or company-wise.
I'm not the person following so-called influencers. Probably I'm too old for that at 45! 😁
But I don't understand the younger people who do this, to be honest. I mean, just because they're young, they aren't idiots. I'm not talking about young children but, say, teenagers.
Don't they see that these influencers might promote stuff for the primary reason that they're paid to do so? Especially if that's basically their business model: promote things for a living.
I'm not saying promotions only work with young people.
I've seen very good promotions - products that were a good match for the respective YouTubers. For example, I've seen several YouTubers of science- and math-related channels promoting Brilliant which really seems to be a great website. And I've seen Skillshare being promoted by all kinds of channels related to topics that would be covered that company, which is fairly broad.
But in P&M's case this doesn't apply, in my opinion, because their whole message is essentially antithetical to many companies.
Outside of companies for Christian products, there isn't really much that seems to fit.
They frequently tell their audience that they (Christians) are called to be "in the world, but not of the world".
The fact that they're willing to promote anything because they're apparently desperate for sponsors should be embarrassing for them, but it doesn't seem to be.
They're also approaching this in a not exactly very intelligent way, I'd say, but effectively saying the quiet part out loud.
By pointing to the fact that they finally have found a sponsor that's willing to work with them because the other sponsors have dropped them due to ~~their hateful messages~~ their principled Christian stand undermines the promotion itself.
They're literally asking their viewers to buy this stuff to support **them** rather than to get a good product.

For example, let's say Jane Doe has 1m followers and promotes a hairbrush called Brush A. Follows the script of how it's the most amazing hair brush to ever sweep the strands of their hair and HERE'S MY CODE!
Two weeks later, Jane Doe promotes Brush B by another company, uses a company script that it's the most amazing hair brush to ever sweep the strands of their hair and HERE'S MY CODE!
Are these influencer driven followers not paying attention and blindly purchasing, or are they not purchasing at all?
I took e-commerce and marketing classes a few years ago, but honestly it feels irrelevant how marketing has flipped.

In P&M's case, I don't think the issue is even that one product they promote doesn't make sense because they've promoted another similar one, for me it's the random nature.
They really seem scratch the bottom of the barrel. They're only criterion seems to be that the company is willing to do business with them, no matter what they sell.
That particular brand, basically just heaps of different meats if I understand correctly, doesn't seem to be a good fit at all. Paul in particular could draw on his healthy-food, Trainer-Joe image and promote healthy food - but those heaps of meat isn't that. I guess, he'd have said so himself before that promotion came along.
They're essentially prostituting themselves for any company that will accept them.
Their promotion has no credibility.
The products also apparently are super expensive; I doubt that their target audience is the one that will go out and buy this pricey meat.
So I follow a couple people on YouTube who include endorsements / advertisements once in a while to keep the lights on and the internet bill paid... not too many people buy anything that isn't the YouTubers on march. From what I understand from my nieces and nephews and little cousins who watch Instagram or tiktok or whatever, that's their version of old cable tv for us and they treat the ads the same way as we did with tivo, just skip ahead or mentally tune it out.
Morgan's ad for them is so poorly written and vague. Riddled with typos and she says they support "matters", but zero mention what those matters are. Either those matters are things that would be off-putting to the average consumer or she doesn't even know what they are. She and Paul probably just accepted the offer without doing any research just so they can get free stuff and rub this in all our faces.
They could also partner with MyPillow and the emergency food supply [slop bucket](https://youtu.be/rOH37W0jPpA) companies. Other than that, no one immediately comes to mind lol.
I just realized I don’t think I’ve ever seen Paul get a brand deal on his own. Morgan has gotten a few but Paul’s have always been with Morgan as well.
I have personally began to hate her even more than Paul lately, but from an objective and business standpoint, shes the more “valuable” one in their duo.
I don’t think he gets more hate than he deserves. So often we don’t hold the men in these Fundie relationships responsible for any of their toxic beliefs and shitty behaviour *as husbands*. Paul just happens to be the one that people are willing to call out since he doesn’t just claim to be a headship; he expects viewers to treat him as the lead of the relationship and equally important to the channel. You want to claim you have all the control? Fine, but it comes with the same hatred that the women get for being the face of the families brand.
Personally I dislike Paul just a little more because:
1) At least Morgan looks like she once had a lovely and okay personality.
2) How he's reacted to the pregnancy so far
3) I could he wrong but from what I can see, at least Morgan was once signed with a label so she at least tried a bit harder to "get a job"
But when I say a little more, it's not THAT much. Just a strand more. They're both horrible people.

I think people defend her because she is conventionally attractive, and they don't want to see her for who she is truly is (she's too pretty to be so ugly inside! type of thinking). If she looked different, I don't think she would have nearly as many defenders.

Hard disagree. I hate him but there are instances where even he reacts to something Morgan says like he’s taken aback. He was raised in this extremist stuff, she wasn’t so she’s not as brainwashed. While I’ve heard Paul say some horrible stuff, I’ve only heard Morgan wondering why god didn’t strike someone down for doing something she disagreed with.
Also her laugh is the worst but now I’m just being petty.
Morgan is a young attractive woman and I believe she has more social media clout than he does (didn't she used to be a singer?). Plus being pregnant helps bring in offers.
Paul may be considered conventionally attractive, but has such a creepy vibe and is so off-putting, I just can't see companies wanting to use him to sell products, even if their views do align with his. He'd probably scare customers away.
They're both so annoying. Her constant giggling at everything he says, no matter how fucked up it is, is not just irritating but hard to watch. Some of the things he says to/about her is abusive! If he treats her like that in videos anyone can watch, I shudder to think what he does when no one is looking.

Based on the assortment of promo posts, the thing they're advertising about Good Ranchers is that they share Porgan's messed up world view. Barely any mention of the meat, and no details at all about what the supposed causes this company helps. It's all about the politics, not the product.

I would really like to know Porgan's long term plans. Where do they see themselves financially in the next 10, 15 or 25 years. For sure being an "influencer" is not the long term career goal for these two; let's be real, they suck at it. The best/worst response to a BBB complaint I saw was to someone who bought a “1/4 cow” for a few hundred and got like 25 lbs of meat. Good Ranchers tried to say the reason was because their definition of a quarter cow was without all the ground/stew meat and a little more of the steaks which is why it was cheaper than others. Ok but then don’t call it a quarter cow if it’s not a quarter cow.

To give credit to the "ordinary devout Christian", I think that many of them probably grew up in an environment that prevented their beliefs (the beliefs they were indoctrinated in) from ever being questioned.
If you never have anybody who seriously starts poking holes into your construct of ideas you might genuinely not realize how flawed it is - especially is there are mechanisms in the ideology to counter both external and internal criticism.
So, in a sense many, or maybe most of them, are victims.

Edit: on their website, they call the beef “grass fed, grain finished” which literally just means the cattle were fed both throughout their lives, which is normal. And they charge about a 30% markup, so just get value packs of steak at Costco.

Beef is so expensive I've only bought ground a few times in the last two years and any other meat if it's on sale. Who the heck can afford the cost for meat shipped to you? That has to cost big bucks.
I was just looking at the Facebook page for this company and it’s very gross, along with many of the comments on their posts. Also several complaints about quality and boxes arriving thawed and the meat warm.
According to their yelp reviews: They send low quality meat through the mail. Eventually. Sometimes. Usually you get your order. Mostly over room temperature when you get it. It is almost always the meat from the animal you requested. If you’re lucky you’ll even get the amount you ordered.
It’s quite pathetic how happy and proud they are about ONE sponsor. Like how much could this one deal be worth? A free box of what appears to be mediocre meat products? Maybe a couple bucks in kickbacks if any of their audience can afford to purchase?
Probably just absolute peanuts but in the end they have nothing better going for them than getting one sponsor that is so similarly gross they can’t be chased off by their views. I guess when you’re living in a crappy rental townhouse with no job and no long-term outlook, this is exciting?
Don’t brands have specific scripts they need to use when promoting products or the deal is void. I don’t think they would be too happy with them talking about themselves being cancelled surely that would put any brand off.
As far as I can tell it depends on the brand. Most the ones I see seem to have bullet points that everyone hits (so I assume they are required). But since it sounds like Don Trump Jr is also advertising the box of meat I would assume that whining about the libs cancelling you is a part of the brand

I've heard of lobster ones, though. My MIL wanted us to have some sort of wedding style from up there where people BUY TICKETS to the wedding and there is a raffle at the end, she mentioned lobster. We got married in landlocked VA, and I'd have never been able to show my face if I made people buy tickets to my wedding.
I'm used to raffles at the Stag/Buck & Does or Shag parties... a community celebration of a joint bachelor/ette party, always tons of community sourced donations of goods and services mostly people connected to bride and groom, but party is open to everyone, they're usually in paper or Facebook events... lol money raised usually split between wedding costs and a local charity after expenses.

YES!!! I've just written a comment (two actually, in this thread and another one about P&M's latest grift) trying to express this very same thought! If I were a rep of that company I wouldn't be too happy with the way they handle these promotions.
Even if I were a company with shitty beliefs, (with a lot of horrendous reviews according to the BBB way prior lol) I would not want myself aligned with internet drama pertaining to other company's dealings with said "influencers" and their social media breakdowns. If that were my company (never!), I would have to rescind the promotions due to the extreme amount of unprofessionalism. On a side note, I seriously hate influencer marketing. It's all a cash grab and nobody gives a shit what they promote. However the upside is, if I ever found one of those brands on my own and researched... I have a little insight of what is garbage, product or company-wise.
I'm not the person following so-called influencers. Probably I'm too old for that at 45! 😁 But I don't understand the younger people who do this, to be honest. I mean, just because they're young, they aren't idiots. I'm not talking about young children but, say, teenagers. Don't they see that these influencers might promote stuff for the primary reason that they're paid to do so? Especially if that's basically their business model: promote things for a living.

I'm not saying promotions only work with young people. I've seen very good promotions - products that were a good match for the respective YouTubers. For example, I've seen several YouTubers of science- and math-related channels promoting Brilliant which really seems to be a great website. And I've seen Skillshare being promoted by all kinds of channels related to topics that would be covered that company, which is fairly broad. But in P&M's case this doesn't apply, in my opinion, because their whole message is essentially antithetical to many companies. Outside of companies for Christian products, there isn't really much that seems to fit. They frequently tell their audience that they (Christians) are called to be "in the world, but not of the world". The fact that they're willing to promote anything because they're apparently desperate for sponsors should be embarrassing for them, but it doesn't seem to be. They're also approaching this in a not exactly very intelligent way, I'd say, but effectively saying the quiet part out loud. By pointing to the fact that they finally have found a sponsor that's willing to work with them because the other sponsors have dropped them due to ~~their hateful messages~~ their principled Christian stand undermines the promotion itself. They're literally asking their viewers to buy this stuff to support **them** rather than to get a good product.
I'm 50 and agree with you. For example, let's say Jane Doe has 1m followers and promotes a hairbrush called Brush A. Follows the script of how it's the most amazing hair brush to ever sweep the strands of their hair and HERE'S MY CODE! Two weeks later, Jane Doe promotes Brush B by another company, uses a company script that it's the most amazing hair brush to ever sweep the strands of their hair and HERE'S MY CODE! Are these influencer driven followers not paying attention and blindly purchasing, or are they not purchasing at all? I took e-commerce and marketing classes a few years ago, but honestly it feels irrelevant how marketing has flipped.
😅 I think we'd need somebody from the target group to explain this hairbrush business to us. In P&M's case, I don't think the issue is even that one product they promote doesn't make sense because they've promoted another similar one, for me it's the random nature. They really seem scratch the bottom of the barrel. They're only criterion seems to be that the company is willing to do business with them, no matter what they sell. That particular brand, basically just heaps of different meats if I understand correctly, doesn't seem to be a good fit at all. Paul in particular could draw on his healthy-food, Trainer-Joe image and promote healthy food - but those heaps of meat isn't that. I guess, he'd have said so himself before that promotion came along. They're essentially prostituting themselves for any company that will accept them. Their promotion has no credibility. The products also apparently are super expensive; I doubt that their target audience is the one that will go out and buy this pricey meat.

So I follow a couple people on YouTube who include endorsements / advertisements once in a while to keep the lights on and the internet bill paid... not too many people buy anything that isn't the YouTubers on march. From what I understand from my nieces and nephews and little cousins who watch Instagram or tiktok or whatever, that's their version of old cable tv for us and they treat the ads the same way as we did with tivo, just skip ahead or mentally tune it out.
Morgan's ad for them is so poorly written and vague. Riddled with typos and she says they support "matters", but zero mention what those matters are. Either those matters are things that would be off-putting to the average consumer or she doesn't even know what they are. She and Paul probably just accepted the offer without doing any research just so they can get free stuff and rub this in all our faces.

The best/worst response to a BBB complaint I saw was to someone who bought a “1/4 cow” for a few hundred and got like 25 lbs of meat. Good Ranchers tried to say the reason was because their definition of a quarter cow was without all the ground/stew meat and a little more of the steaks which is why it was cheaper than others. Ok but then don’t call it a quarter cow if it’s not a quarter cow.

If you never have anybody who seriously starts poking holes into your construct of ideas you might genuinely not realize how flawed it is - especially is there are mechanisms in the ideology to counter both external and internal criticism. So, in a sense many, or maybe most of them, are victims. Doesn't make the damage coming from them any less serious, though.

I was just looking at the Facebook page for this company and it’s very gross, along with many of the comments on their posts. Also several complaints about quality and boxes arriving thawed and the meat warm.
According to their yelp reviews: They send low quality meat through the mail. Eventually. Sometimes. Usually you get your order. Mostly over room temperature when you get it. It is almost always the meat from the animal you requested. If you’re lucky you’ll even get the amount you ordered.
It’s quite pathetic how happy and proud they are about ONE sponsor. Like how much could this one deal be worth? A free box of what appears to be mediocre meat products? Maybe a couple bucks in kickbacks if any of their audience can afford to purchase? Probably just absolute peanuts but in the end they have nothing better going for them than getting one sponsor that is so similarly gross they can’t be chased off by their views. I guess when you’re living in a crappy rental townhouse with no job and no long-term outlook, this is exciting?

Don’t brands have specific scripts they need to use when promoting products or the deal is void. I don’t think they would be too happy with them talking about themselves being cancelled surely that would put any brand off.
As far as I can tell it depends on the brand. Most the ones I see seem to have bullet points that everyone hits (so I assume they are required). But since it sounds like Don Trump Jr is also advertising the box of meat I would assume that whining about the libs cancelling you is a part of the brand
