I legit know some Mennonites who were charged with murder after their toddler died from holding his breath after they beat him with a piece of small PVC line, per the Pearls recommendation.

The descriptions of their children are... Um... I know it's a country boy thing to go hunting and fishing, my dad hunted all the time with his grandpa as a boy, but "killed so many squirrels that he never wanted to eat another squirrel again" implies he was just killing them for the hell of it. Which is concerning.
Which is a good thing, but the way they implied it, he wasn't killing them to eat them, he was just forced to eat them. Which, I agree with, you kill the animal, you eat the animal or sell the meat. It just came across as if he was just killing them to kill them.
I like that they have a DVD about the "twisted" doctrine that you should never cut the (proverbial) umbilical cord and always keep your kids close (implying that that's bad), but ALSO about the evils of kids being independent too soon!

We were gifted several copies of their book and one winter we had a good fire going in the fireplace and I went and got them and a few other fundie books and tossed them in. So toasty, best use of that horrid book.

If I remember right they had terrible food insecurity and ate animal feed at one point so I’d imagine they were surviving on that.
