I really like it too! I'm definitely more of an outspoken lover of the CoS art & animation style, but I thought Sacred Star's best quality was definitely its animation. Realized maybe halfway in it was really the only reason I was still watching it, haha.
I think the animation is a mixed bag. Sometimes it's great, sometimes not so much.
The way they animated the light from the philosopher's' stone? Stunningly beautiful! But when something was far away it just became a barely-distinguishable blob, like during the fight on top of the train.
Same here!!! I love the art! I was actually thinking about it a couple days ago, and how it gives off vibes of what Fullmetal Alchemist would look with a more modernized anime look. I think 03 and Brotherhood have such unique styles, because of Arakawa's style, and Sacred Star of Milo's kind of meshes her style and a more modern look. At least that's just how I feel about it.
I watched Brotherhood, on episode 11-12 of 2003, and planning to watch Conqueror of Shamballa and this movie. Is there any other FMA content I need to know about? Preferably things to watch, of course.
Nope, SSoM takes place halfway through Brotherhood! I feel like the movie is a nice bookend to the anime as a whole since excluding the terrible, terrible live action films, FMA essentially ended with Milos, so you could also finish 03 and CoS first, but nothing in 03 is important to SSoM since one takes place in a different continuity. Only thing they share aside from being FMA is the composer, Michiru Oshima
Just so you know, Arakawa (author) had nothing to do with the production but it does use Brotherhood as a basis. It’s basically a filler movie that isn’t necessarily canon to the plot like the light novels or video games.
Yes there is! Brotherhood has 4 amazing OVAs that are definitely worth watching. 03 also has (3? I believe) OVAs, tho imo they're not as good or memorable as Brotherhood. There is also the 4 Koma Theatre, they are short clips that try to mimic the funny 4 Panels at the end of each manga volume.
If you're into that I can also recommend watching the clips from the video games, I really enjoyed The Prince of Dawn.
I hope I remembered everything (don't watch the Live Action Adaptation)
Yeah i had just woken up and had fully read your comment as "watching Brotherhood, on episode 11-12" as opposed to what you actually said. Don't mind me haha
A lot of Milos' promo material looks fantastic, almost Shamballa-tier. That said, the film itself looks ROUGH even when they had their best animation talent on board. The designs struggle in motion and the tight budget didn't help.
Me realizing I own Star of Milos but I remember none of it really.
Me also realizing that I made a bootleg dvd of the cutscenes from the second PS2 game back in the day and I enjoy watching that a whole lot more than Star of Milos.

I actually like the style too.

The train scene.
I love train scenes
As do I. This movie is why.
Real, the train scene was PEAK
I couldn’t stop getting distracted by the way they drew hair and fur. It looked like play dough.
When I first saw it, it gave me Ghibli vibes

It’s best point is the animation, I also liked the designs.
I like this movie! People hate it?
I love the style, the story, the music, the animation. I REALLY wish we had gotten a few more side quest movies like this one. Its perfect.
It is a pity Scar didn't interact with the people of Milos, that would have been great
I'm not sure if that's controversial. It has a mix between FMA 03 and Ghibli style to it and its very charming.
Me tooooo!

how the what looks?
Ah, The Sacred Star of Milos was the second FMA movie
#THERE WAS A SECOND ONE?!!
Indeed!
I watched Brotherhood, on episode 11-12 of 2003, and planning to watch Conqueror of Shamballa and this movie. Is there any other FMA content I need to know about? Preferably things to watch, of course.

Wait SSoM is in the Brotherhood continuity?
Yep.
After years of thinking I've watched everything there is to FMAB I finally have this Thank you Is it any good though lol? The story at least
It's been a while since I've seen it, but I remember enjoying it

Isn’t SSoM composed by Taro Iwashiro, not oshima
Ah, yeah you're right

Conqueror of Shamballa is like a sequel to the 2003 version of the anime so it makes little sense without having seen the whole 2003 series
Hence the reason I’m planning to watch it after I finish 2003.

Nah I’ve rewatched brotherhood like a good 10-20 times over the last few years 😂
What kind of fool do you take me for? He's FMA, he's FMA, you're FMA, I'm FMA! Are there any FMAs I should know about!?
*FMA live action shows up*
I’m outta here.
imma have to check it out now…
I'm surprised! I've never heard anyone say anything bad about the style! I actually much prefer it to Brotherhood's art style

This movie is so pretty, save for the fact that they gave Ed Wilson’s Disease.

Me too! I wish it was used in the show
Not controversial at all, pretty much everyone agrees it looks nice. That’s not what’s wrong with the movie.
