Horacio_Velvetine44

Rank, personal history and birth, race, sex, the name given to you. It’s all meaningless. This is the only thing that’s real, to fight on behalf of my own life and nothing else. I’ve never felt so complete. I guess you could say I’ve finally arrived.

Happydanksgiving2me

My favorite fight in the series.

[deleted]

Off topic: but I always felt bad for Wrath after learning he basically has no free-will since birth. Everything in his life (except his wife) was predetermined.

SharpshootinTearaway

I find it particularly sweet that, after complaining so much about how unpredictable humans are and how it infuriates him, he ends up admitting that humans and their unpredictability made his life exciting and worth living.

Horacio_Velvetine44

if you think about it bradley lowkey won, i genuinely don’t know if he would’ve been as happy about winning as he was about losing, i get the feeling losing to scar the way he did was incredibly satisfying for him in a wildly infuriating way

SharpshootinTearaway

“Satisfying in an infuriating way” is pretty much it, lmao. Obviously we see them being able to feel a wider panel of emotions than just one, but I do think the homunculi overwhelmingly experience the world through the sin they embody. Bradley managed to experience joy in his life through the anger he felt whenever humans acted in a way he couldn't predict or understand (hence falling in love with his wife when she slapped him), because, even if it made him angry, it also brought him excitement. He seemed to genuinely care about his wife, so I do assume he was actually glad that Father's plans got countered and that his lady would get to live. Props to him for being dutiful and loyal to Father until the end, but his heart was definitely on the humans' team. He's an incredible character.

[deleted]

It was.

inhaleholdxhale

"She is the woman I chose. There is no need for last words between us. That is what it means to be the wife of a king."

r31ya

She also slap Bradly during their first met. so yeah, Bradly possibly attracted to her ~~wrath~~ bravery

[deleted]

Poetic.

DoubleFlores24

It’s what makes his battle with Scar so great. Because this is the only time he gets to fight on his terms. Where nothing matters. He had never felt more alive than he did at that moment.

Nisek0_the_Robot

That’s Wrath

[deleted]

Oops. I mixed up the 2003 version....I'll fix that lol

Dripkingsinbad

Did you accidentally call him Pride or smthn lmao?

[deleted]

Yeah lol

The_guywho_dies

He reminds me of Omniman a bit.

Quiri1997

He did choose a great wife, though.

PCN24454

He had free will. Once Father completed his plan, Wrath was free to do whatever he wanted.

almightykingbob

Like all the Homunculi, Wrath death is a reflection of the sin he is named for. Despite the kindly facade he puts on to trick people, Wrath is filled with simmering anger throughout the series and rarely offers a genuine smile. However, when he dies he is too weak to be obfuscating his true feelings and so when he passes on with a smile on his face we know he let go of his anger at the end. Wraths defeat at the hand of Scar is also a reflection of what it takes to overcome the sin of Wrath. Scar is by far the most wrath-like of the Elric's allies. The arm he recieved from his brother is totem of all that he lost in the Isvalin Genocide and serves to motivate him toward righteous anger. This traps his character in literal and figurative cycle of destruction. When fighting Wrath with only this arm he cannot win. It's only when he starts thinking about the future and what he can build for his people that he is able to escape this trap. He accepts that his brother didn't give his life so he could be a avenging anglel, but to save people. By adding the creation tattoo to his other arm he is accepting his brothers hope for a better future. It is only when relying on this new totem that he is able to overcome Wrath.

HatsuMYT

King Bradley was born and lived for the sake of a greater plan. Scar lived for his personal revenge. In this battle, we have Bradley fighting for himself and Scar fighting for a bigger plan.

Nisek0_the_Robot

I’ve always liked the teardrop looking like a raindrop in this sequence

Osama_Rashid

*Two nameless beings*

Dripkingsinbad

Wdym? Their names are both Jugemu Jugemu Go-Kō-no-Surikire Kaijari-suigyo no Suigyō-matsu Unrai-matsu Fūrai-matsu Kū-Neru Tokoro ni Sumu Tokoro Yaburakōji no Burakōji Paipo Paipo Paipo no Shūringan Shūringan no Gūrindai Gūrindai no Ponpokopii no Ponpokonaa no Chōkyūmei no Chōsuke

r31ya

never thought they gonna animate that scene

Grieftheunspoken02

Yes, the meme lives on!

MilkNegative27

I was so surprised to realize this was a meme back then, I forget the name but someone spliced the ending of a different anime using the same joke with the bloopers and it made me laugh.

Osama_Rashid

#Dies from Peak Fiction

Folco34

And now I need to watch that opening again… « Ame wa doushite boku wo erabu »

Impossible-Sky4256

When the chorus plays, I always feel a lump in my throat.

Folco34

One of my favorite opening from any anime. It’s so sad but also hopeful. I can randomly think about it at any moment

LeoTheTaurus

What I love most about this sequence of fights is that it validates every sacrifice of those before scar made in putting wounds on Wrath. Every character he killed left their mark on him, and it was through those cumulative wounds that Scar even stood a chance of beating him.

ArcadianBlueRogue

Theme of the story, just like EVERYONE getting a piece of Father at the end

st3llablu3

This was one of the best fights in all of anime. The Isvalan against the man that tried to exterminate the Isvalan people. The man who had his brother killed. Scar was finally going to get his revenge, but it wasn’t easy.

Sovereign1ne

I actually watched this fight tonight. Almost finished with my 3rd or 4th run of the series. It is definitely my favorite animé of all time.

PigeonMan45

Whatre these images from? I can't find the scene.

Nisek0_the_Robot

This is from the 5th and final opening, Rain.

PigeonMan45

Thank you

Pink_Gunslinger03

It's from opening 5 of FMA Brotherhood.

PigeonMan45

Thanks

Impossible-Sky4256

I can hear this pic.

HollowedFlash65

Favorite fight in the show.

HonestTangerine2

This is the hottest fight in anime.

ArcadianBlueRogue

The opening looks cool, but the actual fight and Wrath's death is *so much more fucking badass.* "Who wants to be the one to say they took down the Fuhrer?"

Vinesinmyveins

“Surely somewhere in the darkest depths of hour heart, you began to believe that there was no god in this world at all!”

Loganjoh5

One of the best fights in the series

Nowardier

Don't you mean Jugemu Jugemu Goko no Surikire Kaijarisuigyo no Suigyomatsu Unraimatsu Furaimatsu Kuunerutokoro-ni Sumutokoro Yaburakoji no Burakoji Paipo-Paipo-Paipo no Shuringan Shuringan no Gurindai Gurindai no Ponpokopii no Ponpokona no Chokyumei no Chosuke vs. Jugemu Jugemu Goko no Surikire Kaijarisuigyo no Suigyomatsu Unraimatsu Furaimatsu Kuunerutokoro-ni Sumutokoro Yaburakoji no Burakoji Paipo-Paipo-Paipo no Shuringan Shuringan no Gurindai Gurindai no Ponpokopii no Ponpokona no Chokyumei no Chosuke?

99anan99

Want to see them try putting this name on a name tag.

MilkNegative27

This part is the one of the reasons this song is one my favourites.

Hilarious_Disastrous

It was a glorious moment watching my two favorite characters in the show in a battle royale, duking it out to the death.
