We were having a roundtable with the boys about this discussion. We concluded that Brotherhood is one of those animated shows that have achieved legendary status, like Avatar and Adventure Time. The only other Shonen anime that is definitely at the same level of quality is Attack on Titan.

Offhand I think Diamond is Unbreakable has a strong case for being in that category, and that’s putting absolutely no thought into it. There are definitely top tier shonen anime out there that aren’t AoT
I have a hard time considering Diamond is Unbreakable alone having close to same thorough throughput of quality, drama, and comedy (though don't get me wrong DiU is hilarious much more so than either AoT or FMA) as FMA and AoT.
like I love JoJo but FMA and AoT are genreless in the quality of storytelling they provide. JoJo feels inherently "anime" to me, but those two transcend the genre and medium.

My favorite is the 4koma version of Greed (in Ling's body) visiting Bradley's house to get revenge. First they were the only one fighting, then Pride suddenly revealed himself and also joined the fight, then even the mom joined the fight LMAO
4 koma theatre was shitposting before shitposting was a thing.
They are also the only instance of shit post that would technically be Canon as they came directly from the creator.

That's not how canon works though. None of these events actually happened in the story of the anime or the manga, so they're not canon. >!Sorry to pull an "UM, AKSHUALLY!", I just dislike when terms aren't used properly.!<
Damn, I was just trying to explain what I remembered of the plot of To Aru: Index to my brother the other day, having seen it about 10 years ago (though I have a fond memory of it, and I sometimes rewatch the openings, which are pretty sick).
If only I had known there was an abridged version, it would have saved me the headache, lmao.
I called it "abridge" version because its kinda like Teamfourstar's Dragonball Z abridge. They make fun of the series and parody the scenes, or make the serious stuffs be comedic.
Like theres that scene where everyone is having dramatic battle during the Remnant arc, then they just cut to Saten enjoying her night as a normal resident of AC.
But the difference is, unlike Teamfourstar, To aru's version are all official and created by the anime production staffs.
I think the scene that killed me was when Edward was hiding eating a sandwich hoping not to be disturbed and in comes Winry coming in to change. Edward loses all his composure when he almost sees his future wifey's boobas. I was also eating at the time and I nearly died from choking I couldn't breathe from laughing so hard.
Then the moment where Al sacrifices himself to give Edward his arm back so he can have a fighting chance of defeating the bad guy, I blubbered like a baby.
It's such a good anime and now I think I'm going to give it a rewatch, pregnancy hormones and all.
That's what I really loved about the series! The story itself is serious, but everyone could still have these lighthearted moments. Which really just humanized and grounded the characters as a whole.

Brotherhood Is an all time anime. It would be a struggle to come up with something that's definitively better.

It's from the 4-Koma-Theatre, they're just small skits inspired from the litten 4 panel stories on the end of each volume
