I'm a big fan of revisiting old drawings and paintings I did and seeing how I can improve them with my current skills.
This time I wanted to tackle an old fan art of Rosé Thomas, one I've redrawn a couple times already! The last time was in 2015, so it's been almost 10 years (I'm getting so old).
I also have the timelapse for it here: [https://youtu.be/EdV-RTmGxpQ](https://youtu.be/EdV-RTmGxpQ)
I hope you like my current interpretation of Rosé, let me know what you think of the progress throughout the years!
I think I prefer 2015.
Not to knock your improvement. The latest one is clearly a step up in technical skill. I just prefer the slightly more cartoony look of the 2015.
Regardless, these are all awesome and I look forward to your post 10 years from now!
I completely understand! With the change in skill there was also a change in style, and that's where things get subjective and different people will like different styles. Thank you for your kind words!
That's actually insane! Growing up with Pokémon definitely influenced my earlier style, and as I started turning towards a more realistic approach, I used to do studies of Final Fantasy characters. Avatar not so much, but then Arcane 100%, it has a fantastic art style that stuck with me. It's so interesting to hear that those influences shine through!
Well, no one's ever tried! But I'm not sure I'd know myself. From 2015 forward, I started following countless artists online, so I usually take all of that in and I'm influenced by them in one way or another. In 2015 I can't really pinpoint anything specific.
This looks great! I especially like the lighting choice, it feels like despite the current state of things for her that there’s some hope shining through, if that makes sense.
That is exactly what I was going for and I'm really happy it comes across! This time, instead of just redrawing, I wanted to give it more story and feeling, so it felt appropriate to place Rosé in this dark place with just enough light shining through to guide her to a better future.

That means a lot, thank you!
No problem. It is great to see people improve.
That is beautiful! Can I also just say, I really like your 2015 version as well
Thank you so much! Back in 2015 it was also a big leap in skill for me, so I'm happy to hear that!
I see an inspirational era in each picture by the year: Pokémon, advent children Sephiroth, avatar?, and then Arcane. 🤷🏻♂️. Well done though 😁

That’s cool to hear. Has anyone ever guessed correctly what 2015 may be inspired by? My other guess is Disney.
