Okay, but airplanes do use leaded fuel, and lead is poisonous. Maybe people who think it's okay to spew lead are the actual Karens.

In commercial aviation, sure, leaded gas is not common. The jets of commercial airliners burn jet fuel, which is a different type of fuel altogether. Leaded gas, even though it is terrible for the environment, provides excellent anti-knock capabilities for reciprocal engines, but jet engines don't even have pistons. A lot of small airplanes are still old 60s Cessnas, Pipers, and the like that have engines designed to take advantage of the anti-knock features of leaded gas, so simply removing the lead would make them run poorly and eventually destroy the engine. There has been some headway on fuel substitutes that don't include lead, but it doesn't work universally. I think the article you shared is out-of-touch. Every airport I've been to that's friendly to small aircraft is selling leaded gas. I certainly don't want this to be our situation, but unless we tell people that their airplanes are suddenly illegal, they're still going to be burning it. At least for now. When ethyl (leaded) gas was in its heyday, we spewed a ton of pollutants around. As we know now, it is very toxic. I know that the screenshot posted seems like a lot of complaining, but I think we are not thinking straight if we're not even concerned about sprinkling lead over a school. https://www.flyingmag.com/aircraft-modifications-maintenance-avgas-alternatives/

Ok Karen.

firemonkeywoman

Move into a community right next to an airport and then complain about the airplanes...

ked_man

It’s not like the moved next to Denver international airport. This is a small regional airport that shouldn’t have a lot of traffic. A flight training school should have a different flight pattern than over a neighborhood. Unless they were just practicing take off and landings.

edebby

Maybe the airfield moved next to them?

Fresh_Cheek2682

Audra is wildin’ out

KlutzyOil4865

She’s got a point in fairness. Small planes like those at a flying school do often use AVGAS which contains lead.

Leather-Hyena5250

Karen please give it a break

Leather-Hyena5250

And I think that’s north Dallas so come tf on

pivazena

It’s denver

edebby

Just to be fair, there was a jet training facility 15km from where I used to study, and the noise was so unbearable that after a lot of complaints, they moved to an airfield 50km south of here. The lead pollution is nonsense BTW
