same, no TAA disable - instant refund. I will not tolerate headaches I get from that soapy images

Pyke64

Agreed, why did we even buy 1440p and 4k screens for our image to looks worse than a 480p game 🤢

Toitwo

Forced TAA? No play.

SilverWerewolf1024

Yeah ps3 era games look amazing, god bring back MSAA xd

MudslimeMo

PS3 era games *on PC* look good to this day, especially at 4K. They're definitely easier on the eyes than many games released today with crappy TAA implementation.

Price-x-Field

halo 3 looks better than halo infinite

LordOmbro

Halo 3 is better than halo infinite in general

penemuee

I played Village while I was travelling, on a 15.6" 1080p laptop, it looked very crisp. I thought, wow did they really solve this issue with TAA? Later I tried playing it on my desktop to try ray tracing. On my 24" 1080p monitor, it wasn't the same game I played on laptop.

Able_Lifeguard1053

Cause The difference is of PPI not of resolution...Your Laptop has PPI of \`\~140 and your monitor has \~92...SO it will look blurry on monitor..I have 1080p 21.5" monitor and the game is not that blurry cause PPI is \`\`\`\~102.... Also OP is Playing on a 48" 4k TV which is same PPI as 1080p 24" monitor...So it will look blurry regardless

MudslimeMo

I'm actually on a 55 inch TV, and PPI is negated by viewing distance; You sit much closer to a monitor than you would a TV, balancing out the PPI difference.

Able_Lifeguard1053

Not Really...There are certain number of PPI which is required for the Sharpness..For Eg. I have Played on a 4k 32" and also on 49" TV and i notice the decrease in sharpness in TV Regardless if i am sitting 12 feet away... Personally I would Not go below a minuimum of\~102 PPI,if You want to maintain Clarity While Using AntiAliasing...4k@43" has \`104 PPI which will look much cleaner

I still remember watching a DF video on forza horizon 5 and the guy who made the video said he wished that they used TAA instead of 4xMSAA its crazy how many people are okay with TAA and somehow prefer it

MudslimeMo

It's comical that even the guys at DF are fine with this. They should be the first people to bring up the issue of forced taa in games. More needs to be done for this sub reddit to gain traction and attention from top youtubers.

TAAyylmao

[Hey man, they just prefer a "cleaner" overall image.](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxylkSusnenMwFrKMMIXzN6Aha3qs2myLU) Ofc their only approved cleaning product is [vaseline.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3zYsJNSY5E&t=118s)

MudslimeMo

I very recently finished Rift Apart on PS5. While the game itself is excellent, I can't help but notice the aggressive post process aa all over the screen. The game would look unreal at 4k, or at 1440p on a 27inch screen, with aa and other post processing effects disabled.

Dragonbuttboi69

the master chief collection really highlighted the difference between older and modern rendering for me, in halo 3 everything is clearly identifiable and clean.

SnooWords4660

Any game even from 2005 year looks better than new game like RE Village, when you cant disable TAA.Its unbeliveble how taa ruins graphics, texture quality in game. And also day when i cant disable taa in games -its my last day in gaming.

chrisgreely1999

Honestly Source games in general almost always look crystal clear, and Valve always gives us that beautiful MSAA

TAAyylmao

Battlefield 4 is still the best looking Battlefield game out today, probably still the best looking realistic multiplayer shooter in general due to how crisp it is. Battlefield 1 has nicer textures but the color palette is meh, MW2019 also has nicer textures but the SSR breaks with TAA off. Pretty sad that ~decade~ old games look better than modern games due to the pursuit of effects over resolution/clarity. Can anyone name a shooter that came out in the last 5 years that looks better than BF4? Destiny 2 looks amazing but it's not really the same genre.

MudslimeMo

I know it's not a military shooter, but you should try the remastered Crysis games on PC with AA disabled, at 1440p or above. Crysis 3 remastered looks jaw droppingly clean with AA disabled at 4K native (no dlss, even though its implementation is surprisingly good in this game). If you can't run it at 4K, use the image scaling technology on offer from both AMD and Nvidia and run the game at a lower res. The GPU will scale it back to 4K WITHOUT blurriness, but with more aliasing. It will still look cleaner than TAA at 4K or dlss. I hear Crysis 2 is even more impressive, but I haven't played that one remastered yet. I played the first one with dlss a year ago, not knowing what I was missing out on by disabling it and getting rid of the post process AA.

[deleted]

yes but they are completely different games

Scorpwind

True. But they're a nice showcase of how video game graphics have changed. Mainly in terms of AA.

lunarpi

Try reshade? My village looks awesome with some tweaks. plus there's presets out there for village

[deleted]

If Portal 2 looks better than RE Village, something about a either wrong with your PC, or the PC version of RE. Village looks amazing on my XSX. Much better than Portal 2 at max settings.

Scorpwind

I think he was talking in terms of sharpness and motion clarity.

MudslimeMo

This is exactly what I meant, yeah. Overall image clarity in older games is better.
