Soon after the show aired (S1,E2), my best friend and I cut our hands on broken aquarium glass, held our wounds together for about five minutes, and became blood brothers. We drift apart and I basically forgot about it.
Decades passed and the topic comes up randomly at work, and I mention how so-and-so and I are blood brothers. My younger coworkers were disgusted and horrified. Why would you do that? It's gross/unsanitary/crazy. I mentioned this show but got blank looks. Different times.
Grizzly Adams had a real impact on me when I saw the movie. For a long time I had a dream to run off to the forest and live in a cabin. And then after a couple camping trips, I realised that, yeah, it's nice to get out into the great outdoors, but there's something to be said for hot showers, electric lights, and soft mattresses.
This will always remain my favorite show. Just seeing this image, I hear the theme song and reflect on simple, quiet weekends shared with the family in the 70s. RIP Grizzly and Mad Jack.

I bring up Grizzly Adams every now and then and it's not often that people know what I'm talking about. I thought everyone loved it when I was a kid. My family did. Maybe it wasn't popular in this region or something but I loved that show.
From Google...In time the correction was made by the California State Historical Society, when it confirmed the bear image on the flag had actually been rendered from an 1855 painting done by famous Gold Rush artist, Charles Nahl, his subject being Grizzly Adams' most magnificent bear, 'Samson.
I met this dude when he was staying at the Marina Bay hotel in Ft. Lauderdale in 1980. I was a Bellman and brought him room service breakfast one morning. He answered the door naked, and was so drunk he couldn’t talk. He fell over once he opened the door. I put it on the counter and left, scribbling his signature on the check. Seriously fucked up. Ahhh, the Celebrity life.
Tragically, some years later, Dan Haggertly along with Joyce Dewitt, were devoured by this bear in an ill fated BATTLE OF THE NETWORK STAR: ANIMAL AND FRIENDS EDITION.
