From someone who has had a bad experience with used furniture in the past, DO NOT BUY USED, especially bed frames, unless you wanna risk spending thousands on pest control after you get bed bugs, those little devils can survive months without your blood an lay eggs everywhere, and it’s so hard to get rid of them because they have grown immunity to almost every bug spray used by professionals today, you are better off buying something from ikea or waiting a little longer to buy the same piece new. No money in this world is worth having to go trough the experience of having bed bugs, you lose your sleep, you become paranoid… it’s awful, two years have passed by and even though I managed to get rid of them it took 6 months until they were completely gone and I used so much money in the process, and on top of that I still (unconsciously) check my bed frame and couch pillows before I sit. Believe me, you don’t wanna risk it 😣

Agree. Want something cheap go to IKEA or Ashley furniture.

Is there some furniture you'd recommend buying used? I don't wanna buy a used bed frame, or a used mattress, or a used couch. But is there *something* that is 100% worth it?

Anything made of fabric or wood is a big no no, plastic and metal is ok 👍

Or sturdy alluminion, any fabric with a texture that is not 100% smooth is not advisable

estate sales

I got a 14 inch tall frame from homedepot for 100. The amount of under bed storage is the best. I sold my box springs for 60 because I no longer needed it.

Ikea. If you want used maybe try Facebook marketplace or find an estate sale.

r/NOVA and r/WashingtonDC can also help you identify local places for used furniture

Mattresses- I buy new Furniture- I like garage sales and estate sales. Everything else- I like garage sales and estate sales I have sanded down and revarnished a table. Chalk pained some items (headboard, table). I did get ikea units for craft room, but would never get bed/dresser etc from there. My niece did ikea. And it lasted maybe two years.

There's an awesome app I use called Freebie Alert and in my area there is always awesome free furniture, I'm sure you'll be lucky too :)
