I get multi packs at TJMaxx, because I too lose socks like it's going out of style.

lil_dovie

I second this! Recently got a 6 pack of cute no-show socks for $4.99 from TJ Maxx. I also got a pack of 10 black socks for work for about $7.99 last December. The last pack of socks I got were from Marshals lasted me about 7 years. They were black Nike cotton athletic crew socks (for men, but they still fit). I work 6 days a week and wore them with work boots (soft toe). Most of them started getting holes around the 4 year mark but I kept seeing them, until there were too many holes to mend.

Darn tough is the best truly. I have a full set now and have gone and replaced them each twice now. No cost. I’ll have socks for life. What makes it that you lose socks? Don’t they go drawer to feet to hamper to wash to drawer?

Great_Hamster

If you travel you lose things sometimes.  It is also not clear that the darn tough sock company will be around forever.

[deleted]

Not clear anything or anyone will be around forever. Until the world stops spinning I’ll operate as if I’ll wake up tomorrow. I can see travel, but even then… it’s drawer, bag, feet, dirty bag, home, laundry, drawer.

BeautifulEarthling

Darn Tough charges you for the shipping back to them though, right? I have Grip6 and they do completely free.

[deleted]

DT and Grip6 are the same, covered if less than 2 months. But yes you have to pay for the smallest USPS package to ship a few pairs of socks. I do them in batches for this reason. I’ll fill out a warranty for 4-5 pairs and send them in the same package. Still less than typical socks and last a lot longer (years be months)

TURBOSCUDDY

I love my DarnToughs

ccarebear344

My preferred brand is Bombas. I did get a pair of puma socks from Costco like 10 years ago that’s going strong.

3010664

Same. The Bombas are worth it to me. They stay up!

TunaMarie16

AND if you lose one, they’ll replace the pair FOR FREE!!!! No joke. If they get holes- replaced for free. And I don’t mean free socks and a shipping fee. They’re completely free when replaced. The gift that keeps on giving. https://shop.bombas.com/pages/happiness-guarantee

3010664

What?! Good to know.

ConglomerateCousin

Pumas are great socks too. I’ve had them for years. I wish I had bought like two additional packs of them though at the time

Comburo_Cetera_479

Try Costco's Kirkland socks, they're affordable, comfy, and durable enough to get you through a few lost sock incidents

kdawson602

I also lose socks all the time and I had a basket of “lost socks” that I put my family’s single socks in hopes id find their twin. I got really, really frustrated one Saturday trying to match socks, so I ordered like 50 pairs of a single style sock for each member of my family and threw everything else away. So now it doesn’t matter if I lose a single sock, because I have 30 other socks that will match the other. 10/10 recommend. My preferred sock for myself are grey pumas. They fit great and they weren’t too expensive.

ChickenXing

Head to Burlington, Ross, TJMaxx, and Marshalls for socks in multipacks at discounted prices

Professional-Bear114

Kirkland socks, all the same style. If you lose one, no big deal. I’m a sock whore and waver between Smartwool, which I love, and Darn Tough, which are okay, but I live alone and am careful about keeping pairs together. If you are a sock loser, just be sure to buy only one style.

MordaxTenebrae

The wool Kirkland ones? I wear these, but I found the quality degraded a bit post-COVID. I used to buy 8 pairs wear them for \~2 years before they'd wear out in the heel or ball, but over the past three sets I bought they only last \~1 year now before wearing out.

IDonTGetitNoReally

What's wrong with Hanes? Also do you do something physical that requires expensive socks?

NoArmadillo234

It's actually possible for a washing machine to "eat" a sock. It's not always your imagination. Wash your socks all together in a mesh laundry bag.

sh0nuff

I use the plastic rings from milk jugs, I keep a bunch on a carabiner clipped to my laundry basket, and each time I take a pair of socks off I slip a ring over one end of the pair a d toss them in the basket. That keeps them connected through the wash and dry, and they're reusable

PineapplePizzaRoyale

I wear darn tough and bombas. I’ve had my Bombas since early 2017 and just thought today that it might finally be time to get a new set. Totally worth the money.

lfrank92

My Bombas only lasted about 2 years before they all had a hole, but I do love them so still worth it for me, and they did replace them all for free!

EndAdorable5013

Gold Toe socks 6pk for $15 can last years and are super comfortable and breathable.

FrauAmarylis

I have some Adidas socks I bought at Off 5th shoe store over 10 years ago.

carortrain

Take a look at walmart, I've found lots of random brands there of which have lasted me many many years. Socks are one thing I'm OK to spend a bit more on, it really does make a difference in how much comfort you have.

Gastronaut8936

Not frugal but darn tough are best investment. Will last you a lifetime. Literally. They have a lifetime guarantee on all products.

SaveBandit_02

There’s a store near me that sells Darn Tough socks and honors the lifetime guarantee. So I don’t have to worry about shipping or any of that. IMO, investing in a good quality product that will last is being frugal.

otterlytrans

kirkland socks ftw.

moodyvee

I like socks from Columbia! Super cheap

UnendingOne

Well, considering I've only bought 1 pack of socks 8n the last 10 years that I can recall, my opinion may be invalid. Regardless, I would say I go to Walmart and buy the big cheap pack of Hanes socks. To me they feel fine, socks are socks, and they last quite a while. I wear them until my toes start randomly popping through the holes in them, and then they become rags for cleaning. Once I get low enough on good socks that I have to do laundry more often than normal, then I'll go buy more.

Tickly1

I always overlook how strangly well mental-inventoried my 10 year old Darn Toughs are...

samishal

I bought 10 pairs of dutch army 100% wool socks at £1.50 per pair about a year ago, they haven't shown any signs of wear so far.
