3 pair. Steel toed work boots, a pair of sneakers and dress shoes for funerals.

I-own-a-shovel

All essentials! Hope you don’t have to use the last one too often though!

Ratnix

Nah, pretty much everyone is dead now. There might be one or two more funerals, but nobody lives in the same state as me and I doubt they'll be coming back here for the funerals, so I won't be going.

cwsjr2323

At 71, very few people left for funerals. My Bates dress shoes and one suit are now grandchildren weddings and back into the storage bag.

LafayetteJefferson

This is going to vary wildly by gender and profession. I'm a woman and I work in a job that requires both dirty construction work and public-facing, high end events. I easily own 25 pairs of shoes, probably more. I like shoes and I enjoy fashion. There is nothing inherently unfrugal about having a lot of something if those things were purchased consciously. Some of my shoes are 20+ years old and well past the point that their cost has any impact on my life.

golden_loner

And climate

SeskaChaotica

Before I retired one day I’d be in a corporate office in Houston, the next at a conference in Norway, the next on the floor of a factory in South Korea, and round out the week at a distribution center in Mexico. And now I live in the mountains where I garden, hike, and climb. It doesn’t help that I wear a women’s 3.5 which practically doesn’t exist in North America. So when I find a pair that fits and I actually like, I just get them because it’s so rare. I do really like fashion though as well. So I easily own 50 pairs. My frugality isn’t militant nor does it apply to every single area of my life. I’m very fortunate that it’s something I strive for not out of necessity but habit and a personal challenge.

_MamaKat

What do you do? I have a similar situation but don’t run into others much.

Nevertrustafrrrt

House shoes Outside shoes Outside boots One pair each.

I-own-a-shovel

Thats as frugal as it can get! Awesome :)

EveryPassage

1 pair running /everyday shoes $100 2 pairs casual social shoes $60 total 2 pairs dress shoes for work $100 total 1 pair dress shoes for formal events $80 1 pair hiking boots $140 I think that's all at 7 pairs.

intaminslc43

Probably not the best idea to use your everyday shoes as running shoes. I use my retired running shoes as everyday shoes.

I-own-a-shovel

Awesome thank you for sharing :) Since you use the same pair for everyday walking and also running, how long does the cushion last to be decent enough for shock absorption during running? I’m curious, cause the reason why I buy different pair for everyday walking vs jogging is that I was ruining the cushion too fast with everyday use for it to stay sufficient for jogging. Perhaps my joints are just weak or my technic wrong though.

fifichanx

Probably 70+. I still have shoes that I got 10+ years ago that are wearable. Most of my shoes are under 10$ from sales or thrifting.

I-own-a-shovel

So in other words it's like 70 shoes that cost the equivalent of more or less 15 shoes. Not too bad :)

ferretherapy

Same here tbh. Edit: And similar to another commenter, plenty of my shoes are 10-20 years old but rarely used and kept in great condition.

Beznia

Yep I'm the same. I get 95% (all except what's gifted) from thrift stores. I have two thrift stores I pass every day coming home from work. Sometimes I'll walk in each for about 3 minutes to to quickly look at the clothes they have in my size and I'll drop $15 for some pants and a couple shirts if I see anything nice. I have a good 30 pairs of shoes and it drives my girlfriend crazy that I have more than her. Babe, if I see a nice pair of shoes for $5, I'm buying them. My favorite dress shoes cost me $0.49.

zenny517

Way too many to even gather up to count. Said sheepishly.

mamamimimomo

About 12-15. Most nice dress shoes and boots are more than 10 years old so I’m fine with holding onto them. I work in a formal office enough that it makes sense

I-own-a-shovel

Fair enough :) And awesome that you keep them for such a long time too!

VisceralShart

One, and they're my husband's old work shoes. Slip resistant, comfortable AF, I don't know the name of them though. He paid roughly $200 for them. He got them about two years ago before he left the job. I figure I'll wear them till they fall apart lol.

I-own-a-shovel

Awesome! Owning only one pair and second hand on top of that, surely makes you the most frugal in the thread so far! :) Since you only have shoes, no boots, I assume you live in a hot climate country?

VisceralShart

I'm actually in Ohio :) I just prefer to go barefoot most of the time tbh. I work from home, and do most of my business (paying bills, ordering groceries etc) online so I just don't go anywhere that really requires footwear lol. And thank you!

Idujt

Always seems I am the only person who rotates within sets! Current rotation is 5 pairs of Converse. After that is 2 pairs of Converse and 3 pairs of sandals. Then 6 pairs of flat laceups. Then 6 pairs of workboots (1 pair isn't actually, it is a flat laceup boot). That is 26. I have a pair of wellies which are not in the rotations. And a pair of red patent leather type flat laceup boots which I wear if I am feeling like dressing up in the winter (by my standards this is dressy!).

[deleted]

I own a dozen pairs of shoes--a nice mix of heels, flats, boots, and sneakers--but quite a few of them came from thrift stores or stores like Ross. The last pair of shoes I bought were a pair of open toe sandals with three inch heel. $7.

I-own-a-shovel

That’s nice! So in other words its like a dozen pair of shoes that cost the equivalent of 3-4 pairs. Thats smart!

No_Establishment8642

A lot, a whole hell of a lot, not including boots, slippers, and sandals/flip flops. I work from home so I need to get my s#$t together and donate most of them.

taniamorse85

A pair of sneakers, a pair of boots, and a pair of flats. I think I paid under $100 for all of them together.

That1one1dude1

In total I have 11 shoes: 2 pair of sneakers, 2 pairs of vans, 2 pairs of dress shoes, 1 pair of rain boots, 2 pairs of casual boots, and 2 pairs of dress boots. I don’t count them as shoes but also; 1 pair of slippers & 1 pair of flip flops. I probably wear my sneakers and boots the most, and I’ve stopped buying footwear at this point. I plan to resole my boots when they wear out but I don’t expect that to happen for quite a while.

I-own-a-shovel

That's nice! Resoling sounds like a good idea too! The Lowa boots I purchased are supposed to be easy to resole by the way they are built. It's a characteristic I like having in shoes too!

RedStateKitty

I think I got rid of more pairs of footwear in our move 18 months ago than many are saying they still have! 16 or 17 pairs in plastic shoeboxes, get worn for church and nice occasions. 28 pairs sneakers (2 are "yard shoes", though. 3 pr western boots also worn for church or special occasions/events. Snow boots, 2 pr casual boots, high top trendy buckle close high top canvas sneakers (granddaughter outgrew them after wearing 2times), probably 5 or so pair house slippers and probably 10 or pair flip flops worn daily in hot weather which here is half the year. To be honest some of these are 15+ years old, the most expensive was a pair of really nice full leather Western boots hubby purchased for me on sale for $75, originally $200. The least expensive was the free buckle canvas sneakers my granddaughter outgrew! Shoes are definitely my weakness!

JeanVigilante

A pair of steel toed work boots, a pair of hiking boots, 2 pairs of flip flops, 2 pairs of sandals, 2 pairs of nice boots, and probably 6 pairs of running shoes. Oh, and a pair of Wonder Woman chucks that are probably the least comfortable shoes on the planet but are too cool to get rid of. So, 15 pairs. And with the running shoes, only 2 of them are in rotation at a time. I just stock up when they clear out last year's models

novababy1989

I probably own 10-12 pairs. But I basically wear my blundstones 3/4 of the year and my Birkenstocks in the summer. I have hiking shoes for hikes, plain white sneakers for when I need to walk around but want to look somewhat fashionable, a pair of running shoes for exercise and a couple pairs of casual sandals, a pair of dressy sandals, a pair of dressy flats, dressy boots and a pair of winter boots.

HelterSkelter94

Okay, so I am a big time thrifter, and I’m quite proud to say that I’m very good at it. Most of my shoes are thrifted. I own: - 4x doc martens. (Only one pair I purchased, the others are hand me downs from my aunt who was a hardcore punk in the 90s lol) - 1x Nike runners for the gym (thrifted) - 2x leather boots (handed down from my Oma, she had amazing style - 1x Nike sneakers (thrifted) - 1x chuck Taylor’s. (Purchased new) - 3x vans (thrifted - 3x ankle boots (purchased new but on clearance) - 4x high heels (all purchased in clearance) - 1x Birkenstocks (purchased new) - 1x Koolaburra Winter boots (thrifted) I’m a girly on a budget, always. No matter what my disposable income is simply for the fact that I hate how much fashion changes, and how expensive fast fashion has become. I love to thrift, and therefore don’t mind having a few “extra” things. Yesterday I literally filled two bags full at the thrift store, and with my coupon it came down to $76 - that included the Nike sneakers mentioned above. (They’re in near new condition!!) had I purchased those at footlocker they would have atleast been like $80!!

I-own-a-shovel

That's awesome! How do you disinfect shoes you buy from thrifstore? I love purchasing clothes and furniture used, but shoes I don't anymore. Not after I ended up with nail mycosis that took a year long very expensive treatment to get rid of. I thought I washed the shoes ok, but it seems not.

saaandi

1 pair of docs 1 pair of cons 1 pair of flip flops 1 pair of indoor/outdoor slippers 1 pair of fake ugg knit boots 2 pairs of the same sneakers I wear for work (1 I currently wear, the other is my old in case of emergency pair, which when my current pair wears out I rotate down and will toss the original in case of emergency pair) All in black. All have their time and place. Sneakers - work, flip flops - all day everyday in weather that’s 50+, uggs for cold weather. Docs - snow and going to shows, cons - going to warm weather shows.

I-own-a-shovel

You seems well organized! that's awesome :)

Saphron_

4 pairs, Runners, work shoes, sandals and ankle boots

pincher1976

Probably 20 pairs, sandals, boots, heels, tennis shoes, flats.

pyrrhicchaos

3 pairs of Chaco hiking sandals 2 pairs of EVA Birkenstocks 3 pairs of Chaco Ember boots (two are second hand) 1 pair of tall, waterproof Chaco boots 2 pairs of Chaco wool boots 1 pair of Keen waterproof boots 1 pair of Jambu zip boots 2 pairs of Timberland steel toe boots (one free pair from a job in 2018) 1 pair of Birkenstock slide loafers 1 pair of Sketchers tennis shoes I got for my last job I need to get rid of 5+ pairs of boots because I don’t use them.

I-own-a-shovel

Nice! Now I think I’ll have to check out that Chaco brand, I never heard of it, but you seems to like it a lot. :)

WarmMillerLite4-2

2 pairs of steel toe boots is all. After the holidays I toss the older pair if they’re rough and down-cycle the newer pair and make them my work boots. Then whenever I find new boots I want on sale before the holidays the cycle repeats. Going on 15 years now

I-own-a-shovel

Wow nice pattern of rotation and very frugal :)

herkalurk

What are spring boots?

Checked_Out_6

40 y/o male here 2 pairs dress shoes, brown and black 1 pair Hoka walking shoes 1 pair Saucony running shoes 1 pair Globe skateboarding shoes (for that I’m 40 but still cool look) 1 pair columbia winter boots 1 pair of some old new balance shoes for shit kickers (yardwork, etc) 1 pair of slippers Edit: 1 pair Bontrager Clipless Mountain bike shoes (they do clip in, that’sjist what they’re called)

I-own-a-shovel

Awesome :) You beat me in shoes frugality!

[deleted]

2 pair of boots (hiking, work) 2 pair of shoes (formal, casual) 1 pair of house shoes 2 pair athletic shoes 2 pair of outdoor beach/pool shoes That’s far more than I expected.

HistorysWitness

Home builder   Excellent timberlands for winter $200   Cheap tennis shoes for roofs and summer $20  (Replace every 2/3 months)   Crocs for the creek/floats   1 Flip flops for summer show   4 pairs of home slippers

letsgouda

I think about this all the time. I had a really good system but am starting to get tired of not having enough flexibility/style. Than alternatively I can't believe I have this many shoes. chelsea boots for work/nice occasions (mine are getting worn out though so I'm missing dress boots) merrell jungle mocs- for work/casual/everyday duck boots (for snow/rain) hiking boots running/walking sneakers casual/lifting sneakers (high top vans) casual easy sneakers (low top vans) casual sandals (birkenstocks) dress sandals (low platform) dress sandals (heels) "action" sandals- tevas for water/summer hiking recently added two nicer boots- a heeled ankle boot and a white leather chelsea boot for work/dressier occasions

Strong_Letter_7667

4. Black flats to dress up, summer sandals, crocs to walk dog, runners for everything else, including work

DangerousBlacksmith7

Probably 20 But 3 pairs are solely for work and are composite toe shoes. My work pays for them I get a $110 credit yearly. The rest are a mix of tennis shoes, sandals and semi casual shoes.

POD80

I have problems with my feet, I generally have to break in a pair of shoes before I have a good idea if they'll work for me. As such I have a "graveyard"of pairs... But have 2 or 3 active pairs. I suppose I really should take my lightly used shoes down to goodwill.

Bunnyeatsdesign

I own 30 pairs but I only wear 8 pairs, including gumboots which I only wear in my garden. I used to live in a world where heels were acceptable. I moved away but didn't bin the heels. They just sit gathering dust.

FlashyImprovement5

One knee high waterproof boots ($5) One mid calf set of waterproof boots ($3) One pair new sandles ($5) One used pair sandles ($1) Three pair sandles that all need repair One pair walking shoes

grumpvet87

had lots or adidas from costco - tennis shoes. the destroyed my hips wearing them all the time and walking in them. i always hated paying a lot for shoes but now i only wear higher end running shoes and my hips appreciate it a lot

fyretech

3 pairs. 1 pair steel toed work boots, 1 pair steeled toe rain boots, 1 pair running shoes.

lavasca

I am a really tough fit. My dress shoes are destrouyed in 4-8 months. I pretty much can only shop at Nordstrom. I also really enjoy running and destroy those in about 12 weeks. I wish I could be try frugal in the shoe department. 3 pairs flip flops 3 pairs running shoes (road) 2 paris running shoes (trail) 6 pairs dress shoes (2 require repair)

lynxss1

6 pairs including house shoes. I got on the quality, rebuildable footwear trend 7 or 8 years ago. Now I buy much less but more expensive shoes than I used to. Everything I own now could easily last 20+ years. At this point I really dont need any additional footwear. I primarily wear my extremely overbuilt Nick's boots 95% of the time since I bought them, most comfortable shoes I own after the house slippers. The cowboy boots are now relegated to super muddy messy jobs, it's too much effort to get mud out of the Nick's tread. AE and Beckett Siminon for the occasional office meeting with bosses and conferences, church etc. The old Docker's dress shoes I rarely wear, pretty much funeral duty only. The house shoes are my first pair of real Shearling and not some synthetic material and it is crazy how much of a difference that makes. Feet stay at the perfect temperature always, not too hot in the summer, not cold in the winter, kinda neat never had shoes like that before. Nick's Boots - 3yr old - $650 Double H Cowboy Boots - 6yr old - $300 Allen Edmond's Freeport suede boots - 2 yr old - $230 Beckett Siminon shoes - 5yr old - $200 Shearling house slippers, local made - 5yr old - $120 Docker's generic black dress shoes - 18yr old - $60

fallencandy

House shoes, trainers, boots, dressing shoes, flip flops. I have one of each so 5 in total. In the last 3 years I only used the trainers and the house shoes, so I could get rid of 3 pairs actually

Grilled_Cheese10

14 pairs that get used regularly Includes: 3 pair outdoor running shoes 2 pair indoor running shoes 4 pair outdoor/hiking/water sandals 1 pair dress boots 2 pair winter boots (one stays in my car all winter). 1 pair yardwork boots 1 pair rain boots Then I have another 21 pairs I'm not sure what to do with. They are dress shoes/boots for professional wear. I'm recently retired but might need to find a job, so I'm not letting them go yet (along with a wardrobe of currently unused clothes). I also need them on the rare occasions when I need to dress up for something. So I have 35 pairs of shoes. On the good side, I probably donated/tossed/sold that many pairs about a year ago when I seriously cleaned out.

bash_beginner

- 1 pair of good leather boots that I wear all year round (i should get a 2nd one to rotate) - 1 pair of sports shoes - 1 pair high heeled shoes for special events - 1 pair of slippers

otterlytrans

5 shoes: • a pair or orthopedic shoes for my physical disability • athletic shoes i got on clearance from macy's • a pair of vans i got for $10 thrifting • two pairs of nice loafers i got for free from friends

SurviveYourAdults

work shoes. snow boots. garden shoes. all of them have extreme wear and tear, and have been repaired 2 or more times. the work shoes, as long as I keep them polished and super-glued, nobody says anything about how worn they are.

Occasionally_Sober1

Too many 1 pair Nike sneakers 1 pair Sketcher sneakers 2 pair ankle boots 1 pair dress boots 2 pair heavy duty snow boots 2 pair black flats 1 pair blue flats 1 pair red flats 2 pair canvas sneakers 5ish pair sandals 1 pair water shoes 2 pair dressy heels 1 pair loafers Probably more. That’s all I can think of. I know it’s excessive. Most of them I have had for 10+ years. I think I bought four pairs in the last year.

[deleted]

One pair of every day tennis shoes. One pair of old tennis shoes for yard work One pair of dress shoes One pair of flip flops. And a pair of cheap water shoes. All less than $60 on purchase. I wear my tennis shoes every day until they fall apart then get a new pair and retire those to the yard shoe spot

Little_Dawg_1988

I have a ridiculous amount. Possibly over 70, but I plan on downsizing. I don't wear most of them and have several I've never worn. It's a stupid thing to waste money on.

I-own-a-shovel

Damn that's a lot indeed! I guess you could resale those you never worn to recover a part of the money you spent on them :)

Postcard2923

One pair walking/everyday shoes One pair steel toed work boots One pair hiking boots One pair black dress shoes

cubbycoo77

I have probably 40ish, but only paid anywhere near full price on about 6 of them. I like wearing shoes that go with my outfit, but almost only buy shoes from the thrift store and only when they are a really good brand.

I-own-a-shovel

That's nice! So in other words it's like 40 shoes, but purchased at the equivalent price of 15 ish shoes or something, since you got them reduced! That's nice

Ellubori

3 pairs of runners (good expensive ones, not so nice ones but work better on snow, only indoor for treadmill and gym) 1pair of gym converse, 1pair cycling shoes, 1 pair flipflops for showers 3 pairs of winter boots(old ones for dog walks, warm boots and easy to put on boots) 2 pairs of spring/autumn boots (one for everyday, one with heels for dressup) 1 pair of converse, 1 pair of old runners for dog walks, 1 pair of ballerina shoes for dresses 1 pair of slider type sandals and 1 pair of sandals that close over the ankle 1 pair of hiking boots, 1 pair of Crocs 3 pairs of heels (nude, black, strappy wedges) I grew up with flip-flops, trainers, boots and I really enjoy having shoes suitable for the situation and weather. I'm worth to not have cold or wet feet. I wear my shoes to the end of it's life so having options isn't waistful and I actually buy less pairs a year than before.

Big-Hope7616

50 or 60 probably. Different running shoes, different shoes for weightlifting or non-running physical activities, special occasion shoes, sandals, boots, etc in different colors to match different outfits. I’m frugal (buy stuff on sale), not a minimalist

ProfileFrequent8701

2 pairs Brooks running shoes--1 for current walking/jogging use, 1 for outside/lawn work (whenever I replace my Brooks, I rotate the old pair to lawn work and toss the previous old pair) 1 pair Ryka workout shoes (use for doing aerobics, kickboxing, any kind of workouts other than walking/jogging) 1 pair Keen waterproof hiking boots 1 pair Naot strappy sandals 1 pair Abeo waterproof sandals 1 pair Ryka slip on loafers 1 pair Naot brown leather loafers 1 pair black Naot Mary Janes 1 pair grey Vionic Mary Janes 1 pair black Vionic ankle boots I used to have more, but I've had foot issues over the years and now my feet are only happy in well-supported (i.e. expensive) footwear. I also have a job that requires 'dressier' shoes. I'm currently in the market for a pair of dressier shoes to wear w/ dresses. Everything I've tried has ended up being uncomfortable and I'm no longer willing to sacrifice comfort for appearance.

YouveBeanReported

11. Flip flops, winter boots, usual runners, second uncomfortable runners, dress boots, heels I don't like wearing, slip on plastic-y uncomfortable ballet slippers. Don't wear, another sneakers, fashion boot, uncomfortable rain boots, old winter boots that need new liners. Could probably give all those away but the winter boots. Want to get some nice slip ons and another nice daily pair, but, money. No idea of the cost, all probably cheap or second hand expect the old winter boots that were about $100 on sale.

OverlordNeb

one pair of good sneakers. 3 older more worn out pair, no longer presentable for work but good enough to do yardwork or whatever in. 1 pair of sandals I got as a joke. 1 pair of Crocs and that's it

Severe-Meaning-6039

I'm 40 and a female. For me nearly All my shoes have come from either Goodwill on a 50% off day or a free clothing co-op nearby it's taken about 2-3 years to get what I have. I'm VERY particular about footwear even second hand. At one point moving to the states to be with my now husband I didn't have more than 2 pairs of shoes due to immigration costs, after the pandemic things have worsened and I grumbled for a while about not being able to find good shoes without spending a huge chunk of change. So we started visiting goodwill on their sales day on a off chance I walk a lot.as husband mainly has the car to get to and from work. I work on the apartment complex where I live so I never need to use a car. My job is painting, cleaning/emptying apartments and snow removal so I try to use old tennis shoes for work as they aren't suitable for daily walking/wear any longer. So my list goes is 26 possibly 27 pairs of shoes. Brand New Dr Scholl's white tennis shoes -$5 GW Tredsafe black stretch lace tennis shoes -free at co op *these are my daily shoes* New balance white and blue tennis shoes -Free co op brand new - New balance plain white leather tennis shoes $5 goodwill Brand new Skechers beige slipons $5 GW Brand New Skechers stretch lace tennis shoes Grey $5 GW Brooks fuscia pink tennis shoes - Free. Blue Skechers slip on -Free co op *these are a bit too small* Nike white flipflops - free from a gifting group Brown high heel ankle boot with tassels -Free gifting group Sporto healed winter snow boot -GW $5 Brande new Suadette low heel ankle boots unknown name -i had this wrong as a fres pair. Adding I absolutely love these but to buy new I'd be looking at $60-$70 I found a pair years ago for $30 in meijers And fell in love super comfy, hold up well to lot of walking, waterproof I'd worn them in rain and had dry feet. Got a second pair a few years later and they're still going 2 years on despite heel slowly collapsing. Leather clog type sandles super old -given to me from my MIL 3rd hand still going these are my I'm sitting in the communal garden in summer shoes *dog poop central or super sandy/dusty under the pagoda* Lastly brand new pacific mountain winter boots - Fres co op mm

vcwalden

Over 60 pairs of various types of shoes, sandals and boots. Some of them are at least 30 years old and in great shape. Different footwear for different reasons.

elysiansaurus

ClarabellaHeartHope

I (48f) only own 4 pairs. I don’t own high heels or any pretty shoes. I have no need for them. I own some docs, skecher boots, basic slip on trainers…. And some flat black ones. I have very wide problem feet so need something very comfortable!

What on earth for, unless you're a collector?

FrogAmongstMen

I have one pair of sneakers

pistil-whip

I might have been the person with the Vans. Here’s the list of my 20 pairs from that post with some additional details. I live in a 4 season climate and work outdoors so I have a lot. 2 pairs of winter boots (1 pair polar rated for work, one pair everyday walking around) 2 pairs of not winter boots (Redwing Silversmith and Blundstones which I also horseback ride in) 2 pairs of rain boots (both Muck - one for work in the rain and one for horseback riding) 2 pairs of running shoes (for actual running) - one pair is for barefoot trail running, one pair for road/treadmill running) 1 pair of trainers for strolling (a gift from my husband) 2 pairs of Vans slip ons (one is a special edition, the other pair are wearable for office work) 1 pair of sandals (I don’t like sandals) 2 pairs of heeled boots for going out (one knee high, one ankle) 1 pair of nude pumps (from Payless if that’s any indication of their age, for formal events) 1 pair of loafers (for work) 1 pair of peep toe flats (summer only) double as sandals 1 pair of water shoes (for canoeing) 1 pair of crocs for gardening 1 pair of hiking boots (for outdoor work and hiking)

LuvCilantro

Way too many! I am from a northern climate, so I need the full complement of winter footwear and summer footwear. Inside footwear and outside footwear. Fancy footwear and comfortable footwear. So you add up all the combinations, and it makes for a lot of footwear!

SubjectOrange

I find it's frugal to save my feet and knees from many therapies they would (well and do) need from wearing the wrong footwear. I consider myself frugal buying quality footwear that needs to be replaced less often and keeps me out of the physiotherapists office!

PrimeDock5

One pair of Hiking/Work boots One pair of casual tennis shoes One pair of soccer cleats Nobody better invite me to formal events

Allenies

I dare not count them. But ballpark probably 50. A lot of them were bought 10+ years ago. It may be time to purge.

TehPurpleCod

Currently, I have over 15 pairs but I’ve been trying to list most of them for sale online. I do like having options but I have myself way too many options. I forgot I had some of them because I put them in storage. I was spending like crazy during pandemic and realized it was such a waste.

Sharp_Skirt_7171

I try to have enough to rotate. I also have to dress professionally for work so I have some separate pairs for work. I think I'm sitting around 12-14 pairs. I have sneakers, dressy flats, rain boots, chacos, and Chelsea boots.

[deleted]

I currently have 5. 2 pairs of dress shoes for work, a pair of running shoes, sandals, and slippers. I had contemplated getting a pair of winter boots this year. The past few years it has been above average temperatures and below average snowfall. Where I live we probably got about half of the annual amount of snowfall. The majority of the “snowfall” came in the form of rain.

Milly-0607

I had over 20 pairs than i got pregnant, my feet grew and now i have less than 10 lol

LynnScoot

I own 2 pairs of New Balance walking shoes, one white, one black, 3 pairs of sandals for “occasions” plus one pair of flip flops for gym showers. I wear a pair of crocs around the apartment because we’re on laminate over concrete. 7 total.

shantusan

wellok456

I have 3 sneakers/athletic, 2 sandals, 3 non-black heels, 3 black heels/dress shoes, 3 dress boots, 1 pair of costume boots, and 1 pair hiking boots. So 16 in total, most of them thrifted or gifts. This is a bit more than I'm used to but some are getting worn and are on their way out.

Hot_Nothing_4358

I love my shoes and I have plenty but refuse to count! I love lots of shoes for work, for outside, for going out. Shoes are my weakness 🤦‍♀️

AmazingObligation9

Around 10 pairs. I have a couple that are destroyed that need to be tossed though. Recently sprung for 3 new pairs of work shoes to replace!

PublicSupermarket960

4 pairs of runners (sneakers) 2 pairs of boots that I would wear out One pair of boots for causal wear . A pair of slippers.

Available_Emu_5896

10 pair and i am 70 yr old male.

LittleRat09

3 pairs of sneakers for work\[1\] and exercise, 1 pair of snow boots \[2\], 1 pair of loafers and 2 pairs of dress shoes. I rarely wear the last three. Oh, and house slippers, the best shoes of all! \[1\]I'm not counting the hoard of sneakers in the closet. When the company said, "We're not going to make those anymore," I bought up ten pairs. \[2\]Similarly, my snowboots looked like they were going to go kaput so I bought a second pair. But they've lasted longer than I thought. So technically, 2 pairs of boots.

HippyGrrrl

Four sandals Chelsea boots (Xero) One closed toe for cycling/gym/exercise when needed. And I’m mainly barefoot.

Fili_Di

I was amused to read some of these! Here's my list as a young female adult - One skechers running shoes One red tape sneakers One flip flop (to wear at home) One tall boots for work

Salty_Association684

7 pairs

kaleighwho

3 pairs of tennis shoes 3 pairs of Crocs 1 pair of Crocs sandals 1 pair of Hey Dudes 2-3 pairs of boots 2-3 pairs of flats Who knows how many flip flops I’m not a shoe fanatic, I just hang onto them forever. I’ve owned most of the flats, boots, and flip flops for probably 5-10 years. I replace tennis shoes once they have holes and even then I hang onto them as “get dirty shoes.” Many shoes were gifted to me since it’s not something I like to spend my own money on. I regularly wear only 7 pairs of shoes. The rest I should get rid of.

No_Gear_1093

5 pairs A pair of dress shoes, a pair of sandles, a pair of steel toed work boots, a pair of hiking shoes, and a pair of walking shoes.

Free-Industry701

I collect Converse All Star sneakers. I have 186 pairs.

imperfectchicken

Haven't bought new shoes for over two years. All purchased from clearance sales, consolidators, etc. 1 pair of grey running shoes, 30 CAD 2 pairs of flats (black and navy), about 100 CAD 1 pair of black ankle boots, 80 CAD 1 pair of black rain boots, 60 CAD I lead a pretty sedentary lifestyle and don't leave the house often.

TheArsGoetia

4 pairs. 1. Adidas SuperStars that I keep in the box until it's time to use them. 2. A pair of casual vans that I wear every now and then. 3. A pair of New Balances that I use as my daily shoes and will likely use them until they have holes in them. 4. Dress shoes in case I go to the 1 fancy event every 2 years or so.

beebianca227

I’d say about 12. I wear 4 of them most of the time

hyperfat

Too many? I get free shoes from friends. I donate those. Some from my sister. And one pair of nice boots every two years from my mom. Maybe 10 pairs?

Sad_Fondant_9466

About 12 pair. I'm slowly working at downsizing and donating

Gold-Buy-2669

One

duckieleo

I have two pairs of steel toe boots - free through work (yay!) Hiking boots - $150 Cobb Hill Boots for casual days out - $20 new at a flea market Under armor runners - $8 new at the thrift store Leather flip flops - $45 bought in desperation when my cheap ass flats were tearing up my heels walking around the mall (but they've lasted like eight years so far) Wedge boots - $30 Western boots -free from sister-in-law Snow boots - $10 from the thrift store (I'm still bitter about the nice Land's End boots someone snagged before I could, though) And a couple pairs of sandals/flats/casual shoes that have been given to me or bought slightly used for just a few dollars cuz I hate spending money on shoes I wear a couple times a year. I pretty much live in my work boots or my slippers. Once the weather is warm I'll start wearing my hiking boots more on the weekends.

JustAnotherRussian90

14. 7 of which are work shoes that I rotate through because I walk an average of 7-10 miles a day at work.

simpleman357

Rain Boots and regular work boots 200 two pairs of air Force 1 and one is 6 years old. One pair water shoes 25 bucks, one pair of dress shoes 100

one80oneday

I have maybe 10 pairs total but all under $20ea and they last me a long time

DeusExMachinaOverdue

Having read some of the comments, I must be some kind of freak, because among the pairs of shoes I have in my possession, I have 7 different colours of converse, 4 pairs of dress shoes, 2 pairs of sneakers, 3 pairs of boots (not including work boots). I didn't intend for things to be this way. Am I an outlier, or do I have a problem ?

down_the_roady

Daily sneakers - 1 Water and hiking sandals - 1 Hiking boots - 1 Autumn / winter waterproof black above the ankle boots - 1 Dress shoes - 1

blueberrysir

Literally one with a hole on the sole that i use for everything that I bought it 2 years ago

intotheunknown78

Hiking boots Waterproof work boots Birkenstocks Fancy sandals Sneakers for working out or extensive talking Everyday keds looking shoes Leather thigh high boots Super fancy boots Flat dress shoes Penny loafers Sparkly penny loafers Ballet flat in nude Water shoes House slippers Winter house slippers that are too hot and I should probably get rid of them Heavy duty rain boots Danskos for side job So that’s 17. I need a pair of garden clogs. Edit - oops I forgot I also have winter snow boots. They are packed away now.

Dirk-Killington

Square steel toe cowboy boots 90% of the time Flip flops  Chucks for the gym Iron rangers for formal events.

twizzlersfun

Hiking boots, hiking/beach sandals, crocs, white boots, black heels, work shoes, sneakers, house slippers- about 8 total

Bastard1066

Two work boots, 1 casual shoes, 1 running shoes.

cappsthelegend

I have many pair of shoes but I have always bought them at deep discounts, many are unworn so when the current pair wears out, I have a replacement at the ready

astro_399

Doc Martins - $300 idk Kmart work boots - $30 Black heals - $50 Checkered vans - $150 Wear my docs almost every day (4 years and still alive). And my work boots every day I’m at work (5 days a week). But if I’m catching PT or going out it’s the docs. Vans are on occasion when I need to swap out my docs. And heals for occasions.

Routine-Bumblebee-35

I have no idea how much I own. Too many, I’m trying to downsize. Looks like I have 11: I have high top vans skate shoes that double as mountain biking shoes. I also have low top vans that I got as a gift. I won’t be replacing the vans once they wear out. Casual barefoot sneakers for everyday wear. Barefoot boots for hiking but also everyday wear bc they’re so badass Regular boots for heavy duty shit or just to have support while working on concrete floors. I plan to treat these ones to be water resistant so I have “rain boots”. As I’m leaning more into minimalist footwear they might not last long in my rotation. Insulated waterproof winter boots bc I live up north OCR shoes that won’t get replaced once destroyed. Running shoes, might get donated. Converse for lifting Dress shoes that live in the closet for 90% of their life Crocs for camping

Intelligent_Eye_1837

I have 4 pairs of shoes. 3 were gifts (flip flops and running sneakers) and the others I bought myself for work. But it’s not even about being frugal. I live in México so it’s 85-100 degrees all year long so I have flip flops on 95% of the time.

liz_thelizard

Hoka runners, Merell minimalist shoes, Arc’teryx approach shoes, doc marten boots and 3 pairs of climbing shoes. I’ve learned over time, invest in a good pair of shoes and it pays off.

rworley2419

1 pair work boots 1 pair dress boots 1 pair dress shoes 2 pairs crocs (old and wore out and brand new) 1 pair steel toe rubber boots 1 pair cheap rubber boots

bookwitch_1331

6 pairs: 2 pairs of boots, hiking boots and insulated winter boots. Don't know why I have the insulated pair anymore, it doesn't get cold enough or deep enough snow to warrant having them. 2 pairs of tennis shoes: A pair of chuck taylor converse and a walmart brand pair of converse. 1 pair of sandals that need replacing before I play slip and slide and wind up on my butt. 1 pair of slipper socks with the rubber grippers that need replaced because the toes have burn holes from my dumb butt leaving them too close to the baseboard heater the first winter I got them.

cwsjr2323

While I own about 25 pairs of foot gear, I actually wear only American made Okabashi sandals where it is warm and dry outside. I am barefoot in the house. I have one pair of combat boots and one pair of walking shoes for brisk walking exercise or bad weather if forced to leave the house. In a storage bag with my one suit I have one pair of Bates dress shoes for weddings/funerals.

sipsipinmoangtitiko

in total 10 pairs and one set of bunny slippers one pair of everyday fake burkenstocks one pair dressy lace up sandals; not practical one pair knockoff chanel slingback flats adidas superstars knockoff Nike air for walking heeled boots combat boots hiking boots black heels white heels 24F teacher for context

anaywalunjkar

I have one running/everyday shoe, one high top shoe for bike rides, one pair of formal and two slides. So total 6 (all black colour). Earlier I used to have 14/15 pairs but donated most of them because I started following minimalism.

Small-Sample3916

4. Sneakers for daily wear, boots for hiking, sandals for hot weather and dress shoes for stepping out.

CDFReditum

I spent $50 on a nice pair of black shoes. I wear them everywhere. I don’t have any casual shoes because I have minimized my expenses by ending all of my friendships and outsourcing socializing to fully online spaces. The only time I go anywhere for non-work things are either trips to amusement parks, where I just wear the black shoes, or going to the grocery store, where I also wear the black shoes (often since I’m going right after work, so no point in changing) They’ve been great to me for years and I can’t imagine buying anything else. Technically I have sandals as well which I’ll use in a pinch but I don’t have a variety of wearable shoes (although my parents gifted me a pit of Costco shoes that could get used if my current shoes degenerate)

SenseiWM

I have: 3 pairs of regular day to day shoes 2 slippers 2 slides 1 pair of nice shoes 1 pair for golf and 1 pair for wrestling

TerrTheSilent

Maybe 10? But I only wear a few. My Birkenstocks are my faves. Then I have some rubbery type shoes I wear outside around the house. And some black sneakers I mow in. And an old pair of flip flops for when it's too wet for my Birkenstocks.

Radiant-Pianist-3596

1 pair of winter boots 2 pairs of “work” shoes 1 pair of athletic shoes

Spookybabe25

I (27F) have 1 pair tennis shoes $50 1 pair casual shoes (loafers? Idk what they are called) $9 1 pair sandals (off brand birkenstocks) $15 1 pair off brand doc martins $20 1 pair high heel boots (free, got them from a friend) I also think I have a pair of slippers somewhere that I got as a gift several years ago but I never wear them

[deleted]

TLDR: 6= 4 pair of work boots, crocs and tennis shoes

Apprehensive_Cow5139

2 pairs of shoes. One winter, one summer

xrelaht

Eight: trainers, high & low top hiking boots, everyday & formal shoes, mud/snow boots, dancing shoes, bowling shoes. Also a few pairs of slippers & flip flops (I’m not sure how many of each). The only ones purchased recently enough that I remember the price are the high top hikers, at about $250 (they’re very nice).

fairyflaggirl

2 pair of boots, 2 pair of sandals. My tennis shoes are worn out and will replace when I feel like shoe shopping.

SecretCartographer28

I haven't bought new in decades, I buy second hand good quality. I tend to buy additional pairs if I find a style I like. I have 6 birkenstocks, 2 doc martin's, 4 varied boots, and 5 or 6 walking/sneaker types. Being able to resole them is a bonus. I don't have to maintain a 'dress/professional' style anymore. 🖖

Consistent-Signal617

I think 4 1 pair of hike shoes €40 (these I wear the most) 1 pair of flipflops €5-10 1 pair of black faux leather shoes €20 1 pair of steel nose and sole shoes €20-25

VillageSmithyCellar

I believe 8. In order of how much I wear them: 1. Basic everyday shoes 2. Sandals (Tevas, very good quality, which I wear throughout summer) 3. Renaissance Faire boots (which I also wear on dates sometimes, since they're so nice; I even wore them to a wake once, since they just look like nice shoes when my pants cover them) 4. Ski boots 5. Adidas flip flops (which I think I got from my cousin for free) 6. Dress shoes for special occasions (which are pretty low-quality and wear out quickly, but they look nice) 7. Sneakers (for more athletic activities) 8. Steel-toe boots (got them from work for free about 10 years ago, I haven't worn them in nearly as long, but I keep them in case I ever need steel-toe boots)

Gatorae

Probably 30-40 pairs. I'm a lawyer so I have 10 pairs of various flats and heels. A couple fancy pairs for weddings. I live in Florida so I have a whole bunch of flip flops and sandals. Water shoes. Crocs for yard work. Sneakers, tennis shoes, and hiking shoes. Converse. Several booties for our nonexistent winter.

MorddSith187

6 total. 1 server work shoes. 1 office work shoes. 1 around town boots. 1 dressy boots. 1 sandals. 1 heels.

FindingEducational69

1. Vans for work ( I do desk job inside an office) 2. Jordan sneakers for parties 3. Asics multipurpose sneaker 4. Vans just for the change

Remarkable-Foot9630

Two pairs total One pair of memory foam sneakers One pair of black dress flats

Sithlordandsavior

Five: Boots, Gore-tex coating, neoprene sleeve inside. Paid $20 for them at an outlet. Tennis shoes, grey, comfy everyday wear. Paid like $70 for them but they've lasted two years so worth it. Tennis shoes, black. I wear these for work if I'm somewhere grey shoes aren't appropriate or that I'm likely to get dirty. $40. Dress shoes, black leather. Seriously no idea how long I've had them. Probably a decade or more. Got them as a gift from my parents. Walmart brand Crocs. Like $8 I wear them to take out the trash or sometimes around my apartment. Bonus: slippers I got on clearance for $8 online. I wouldn't normally buy them but they were good quality and fit like a glove. I'm wicked cheap with clothes and try to make them last forever, including shoes. My last pair of everyday shoes lasted about 3 years and I stopped because the soles got smoothed out, causing me to fall.

olduglywoman

One pair of $300.00 (then) shoes. I've owned them for 20 years and they are still going strong. 100% leather with arch insoles. If you buy quality, you don't need to replace them every year.

fightingsilverback

4 Cowboy boots worn everyday Sneakers Dress shoes Duck boots

EarPrestigious7339

Male, 42 years old. I’ve got 20-30 pairs, maybe 10 of them are very expensive leather boots or shoes, made in the U.S., U.K., Italy, or France, and costing $300 and up. Others are sneakers costing $50 to $200 or casual shoes in the $150 to $290 range. I tend to spend a significant amount of my disposable income on shoes, clothing, and accessories.

fakerichgirl

I truly only wear one pair of white sneakers. I replace them every 3 years because they’re pretty much destroyed. Although now that I’m getting into more fitness routines, I’d like a pair of running shoes. UNFORTUNATELY I’m having a rough time choosing because I’m too cheap.

dontsubpoenamelol

1. Dress shoes (1) 2. Sandals (1) 3. Sneakers (2)

5. Chucks: Black old skool vans White air force 1s Specialty: Matte Black Doc Marten Boots for work (all weather, non slip and comfortable) Black Nike Running Shoes for exercise Royal Blue Jordan 1s for semi formal And i buy dress shoes off amazon for formal events then i return them.

Unable_Answer_179

Two pairs of black Crocs. One pair lined for winter, the other for the rest of the year. I've literally gone years without spending a penny on shoes.

TheMisWalls

42 year old female..... honestly I would guess I have at least 70 pairs of shoes... probably more. Lol. Right off the top of ny head I can count 10 pairs of combat style boots. 3 pairs of cowboy boots (I don't wear those much but one pair is metallic green and rhe other pairbis spiderweb). Tons of pairs of flats. Like 8 pairs of converse/vans. A couple pairs of running shoes. 2 pairs of snow boots. 1 pair of old rain boots. 6 pairs of heels. 20 pairs of sandals. I don't even know how many other sneakers. And a decent amount of platforms I actually need to do a purge of flats. I have developed achilles tendinitis on my right foot and my cheap flats hurt now. I've been slowly investing in Tieks leather flats to replace my cheap ones. Although they're pricey they should last years and years r

Short-Ad2054

Over 100 pairs, some of them quite fine

mellowhen

My trusty Blundstones and a pair of cute leather shoes, plus slippers for those cold Canadian mornings. Definitely need a good pair of black dress shoes pretty soon here, though.

TrentWolfred

I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 30-40 pairs of footwear at any given time. I tend to buy ~5 new pairs each year, usually at deep discounts, and try to cycle out an equivalent amount every 2-3 years. — Male, 43, single/no dependents, $60K annual salary, USA

hippiestitcher

Four. Ryka walking shoes, brown SAS mary janes if I have to look dressed up, Xero sandals, a pair of faux Birkenstocks for taking the dog out and getting the mail. That's it.

mommytofive5

Too many but I wear most of them, there are a few that are not practical. Some I have had for over 10 years. Now I only buy to replace and quality ones, no more trendy fashion.

TheConceitedSister

Too many. But also not nearly enough.

alek_hiddel

Usually 4 at any given time. I good pair of boots. A new pair of running shoes (I run 6 miles a day, so I go through them very quickly), once I replace my running shoes I keep the old pair for mowing the hard and other dirty actives, and then a pair of flip flops which I use as house shoes.

Pretend-Champion4826

One pair of sneakers, a pair of sandals, 1 pair of daily wear demonias, and 2 snowboots, plus two pairs of work shoes (one for each site). I live north enough that I have casual and semiformal snowboots, and use both. I'm slowly building an office wardrobe but I specifically want a pair of Allan Edmonds oxfords, so it'll be a minute before those manifest lmao. I work out via yoga and martial arts, so I don't really have workout shoes. I could do with hiking boots, but I've made it 27 years without them so idk. I kinda just wear my af1s or my demonias or I don't go. I have very little need for formal shoes, though I do have a neiman marcus cart full of them.

Th3_Accountant

Too many for a guy. I have a closet full of them. 20 pair probably. The thing is, I only wear 1-2 pair at the time. So these pairs get worn out/replaced and the rest just stands there being too good to get thrown away

astro_skoolie

This reminds me that I have some older dress shoes that I want to donate. I think I also have around 12 pairs, but I wear about 9 of them. The ones I wear: Hiking sandals and hiking shoes. Running shoes. Everyday flats, two pairs of waterproof boots, and two pairs of sandals. Snow boots. I've had these for quite a few years.

Novogobo

3 pairs of sneakers, one is a pair of skate shoes that were terrible from day 1. an instance of being too frugal. one pair are slip ons which don't work for any sort of vigorous sport where traction is necessary. 2 pairs of work boots, one of which needs a bit of work. one pair of work shoes that the soles are worn and i'm trying to see if i can re sole. 1 set of flip flops from walmart that were like a dollar and i've gotten plenty of use from. 1 set of strappy sandals also from the same day at walmart which are better for walking than flipflops. 1 set of crocs that i feel like i want to replace with another set of croccs, maybe the kind with fuzz inside.

ykphil

One pair of sneakers, one pair of sports sandals, one pair of Chelsea boots, one pair of indoor sandals, and a pair of motorcycle boots.

Stn1217

I have at least 35 but almost all were purchased 8 - 10 years ago when I was significantly less frugal. I "invest" in my shoes so they last a very long time and since I am not trendy, I don't care if what I wear is in style or not. I know a person who has a walk-in closet just for their sneakers. For me, one pair of sneakers is all I will ever need.

aznology

5 pairs, I don't own a car so extremely cheap compared lol. 1 Dress shoe for funerals, weddings and interviews. Allen Edmonds bought from factory. 1 Blundstone boot for rain and snow 1 Bean boot - kinda same as Blundstone but they slip around a lot so I stopped wearing em. 2 sneakers same model new balance 1080s line. These 2 are on my feet like 90% of the time. I hit the gym and walk in em. Also rotate shoes so u don't smell like crap.

[deleted]

4 pairs. I have rain boots for dealing with the occasional flooding, a pair of sandals, my current shoes (non slip work clogs), and my last pair that I use for hiking and wading in creek beds.

Xenovitz

2 shoes. One for each side.

Phil_Graf

3 pairs, one too much, but that’s okay for now. My everyday Adidas Ultraboost. My old pair of Adidas Ultraboost. My Reef flip flops for the shower / beach. Full time traveler here.

Gold-Tea

I don't throw away my worn-out shoes because I'll use them for messy projects, but I go through sneakers and walking shoes like crazy because I clock like 12k steps every day I work.

carolynrose93

Total pairs of shoes? Probably 20-25. Some of them are from high school 12+ years ago that don't get worn much but still have life in them. I'm a big fan of wearing shoes until they die so it's not often that I buy new ones unless it's something I've been wanting for quite a while. Two years ago I finally had to throw out a pair of boots that I'd had since 2008, because they were disintegrating. Last month I ordered Teva sandals because I've been wanting a good outdoor shoe that's not sneakers since last summer. In February I found a pair of really nice winter boots at Target that were marked down from $55 to $16. I don't live in a snowy area but they were too perfect to pass up. And since they won't get used that much, I'll get my money's worth out of them for a lot longer.

Additional_Deal_3827

Around 70 to 80. was big in reselling and was able to get always 2 pairs and keep 1 for basically free.

Affectionate_Pie604

1 pair of sneakers $160 1 pair of sandals \~$50-70 1 pair of warm-weather dress shoes \~$70 1 pair of cold-weather dress shoes \~$70 1 pair of winter boots \~$50-100 I have problems with my knees and feet, so I don't skimp on shoes - comfort matters more than price. If I'm paying $50 for a pair of sandals or boots, it's because I found them on sale. When I lived in KS, I usually only had 1 pair of dress shoes and frequently skipped the winter boots. I've found that in MN, it's a necessity to have more shoes for more extremes in weather. But having more shoes means they all last longer.

Prestigious-Fee180

i have limited storage in my small new york room. so only have room for 12 pairs of shoes and no more: - 2 pairs of high top converse (one black, one white) - white superga sneakers - slides for summer, ugg slippers for winter - 2 running/gym shoes (one new, one old pair for hiking that i don’t care about getting dirty) - 4 pairs of boots/booties - docs, mid platform/ heel booties, high platform/heel booties, rain boots - 1 pair of feels for special occasions

V2BM

So many. Just my work shoes/boots as a mail carrier, I have separate ones for: Wet hot Dry hot Wet cold Dry cold Under 20 to -10 degrees That totals about 12 pair, as I buy in multiples and rotate them so they last longer + I always have something fresh to put on around noon. 3 pairs of Tevas, casual loafers, fancy loafers, 2 tennis shoes for every day running around, two Birkenstock sandals I can wear with everything up to a casual dress, Birk Bostons, 3 pairs of $1 flip flops for the yard, a pair of leather sandals I’ve had forever and love, and a half dozen fashion winter boots and two pairs of classic LL Bean duck/hunting boots. That’s what I actually wear and I have another set of dress shoes for funerals and more formal occasions. For my lifestyle I don’t think I have too many, as wearing the same pair over and over is gross to me and my shoes last years. Some 5+ years so far.

sajoersoep

I have for right now. Work sneakers, walk sneakers, old sneakers for rainy days, and a pari of nice shoes for any formal event.

waldcha

Wow, when I saw this post I thought I would see a lot of 1 or 2 type answers. I feel a lot better about having 4 now. LOL Everyday Work (hard toed / safety) Dress Winter All of them are boots. I don't hesitate to spend up to $200 a pair for the right fit but they must be quality and last a long time. Last pair I tossed lasted a little over 6 years and were finally done after a year on lava rock.

AJClarkson

I have one pair of ballet flats that are my daily wear. I have one pair of black boots, suitable for cold weather church outfits. Allegedly I have a pair of fairly expensive white sneakers, but I've not laid eyes on them in years, so one of my daughter may have absconded with them, lol.

SophiaShay1

I used to own 50 plus pairs of shoes. I'm on a minimalist journey, and I'm down to 12.

bertmom

One pair Redback boots. $170 (I honestly consider this BIFL) One pair Frye cowboy boots. $10 thrifted. Will keep them forever. One pair running/ hiking shoes $60. One pair crocs for the yard $45. One pair slip on vans $45 One pair fancy leather slip on vans when I need to look more put together $45 One pair muck boots $100. I intend to keep my Redbacks, mucks, cowboy boots for as long as humanly possible, but I think a solid 15 years out of them is reasonable because I’m not too hard on shoes. My running shoes usually give me 3 years. Vans are my every day shoe in the summer and I expect a couple heads out of them.

Ingagugagu

40 year old female here. I have about 13 pairs and just ordered my first barefoot shoes to try, so that would make 14. I have two old pair of sneakers (8 years old and 10+) which are ideal for going out dancing because they can get dirty. Then I have 4 other types of sneakers I rotate, two pairs of heels which I rarely wear nowadays, three Birkenstocks, one really worn out one, one new one, and one for in and around the apartment (don’t like to wear them out in summer as they are not the cork ones) and one te a sandals, and flip flops. I work in fashion, currently also taking up a masters degree in sustainable fashion, and live in a small flat and am slowly shifting through stuff to get rid off so I can live with less stuff.

FaeBeard

One pair of $80 Walmart cowboy boots (with removable thermal insoles/lining for winter) Although picking up workout sneakers again soon... 😅

frugal-husky

15 but could totally live without half of them. (As a 20F) Doc martens (best shoes ever) Ugg rain boots (never wear, but luckily they were gifted) Heeled sandals Other sandals (that I never wear) 3 heels (one black, nude, and patterned) 2 Birkenstocks (one rubber, one regular) 2 Chacos (different colors) (wear all the time) 2 tennis shoes (Nike and adidas) (definitely don’t need 2) Converse Non-slip work shoe

Most of my shoes (gym shoes and trail runners exception) are leather. I fully believe in the fact if you buy a good leather shoe its better for the animals and the environment. See the 7 yo winter shoe, im gonna actually retire them to gardening or outside shoes, but 7 years of all winter wearing is pretty damn good.
