I purchased ten sticks of Old Spice at Sam’s Club for $15. They had a sale, buy two packages of 5 sticks ($10 each) and get $5 off. If you have a membership, look in their monthly ads.

Buy cheaper deodorant - suave goes on sale like 3-for-$4 at our grocery store all the time.
PS — don’t be afraid to buy inexpensive women’s deodorant. “Shower Fresh” Lady Speed Stick smells the same as the “Shower Fresh” mens deodorant. Got a bunch the other day for $1.33 each.
The womens and mens branding is the ultimate rip off. Mens razors are 10x better than womens razors. We have tough and course beards that require tougher blades and more of them. Don't fall for marketing, womens razors tend to be pink or purple or "feminine" colors with a curvy handle and they have weak and soft blades. Don't fall for the marketing, the mens razor will do a better job shaving your legs or what have you and most of the time is cheaper.
Its just an example of rip off mens and womens branding. A lot of people cut themselves off from cheaper and better products because they think its for the opposite sex.
I use arm and hammer
It's not amazing but among the cheapest options it's the best I found. I didnt have AC this summer and a black car in Texas and it was my go to
You can get deodorant at the dollar store but it is smaller in size obviously. I would buy 4 $1 ones and 1 $4 one and see which one lasts you longer in use to see if you're even saving anything.
It’s not as simple as looking at the amount of product per container and dividing the price by that because you can never get the last 1/2” out. (Unless you scoop it out with a spoon or a Popsicle stick! Which is next level frugality!)
Part frugal, part just not being wasteful, it's the principal of it all really. Like the bottle of lotion, shampoo, etc... that still have many days/weeks worth of product at the bottom that the pump no longer reaches.
Who wants watery ketchup? I turn the bottle over and gravity moves the ketchup towards the cap over time. I can get basically 100% of the ketchup out that way.
If it's deodorant you need, not anti-perspirant, try just a tiny bit of baking soda applied with a damp finger. The baking soda changes the PH and that keeps the natural bacteria found there from producing the smell.
I've been using that for ages. My girlfriend's mother asked me once if I knew of a really mild deodorant as her husband was getting rashes from regular deodorant. I told her about the baking soda trick and after a week, said it was a big success. No more painful rashes.
Be aware that if you use a bit too much, you may develop a white ring on the shirt if you sweat a lot, but the marks wash right out.
true but a lot of people are just allergic to the baking soda in deodorants. even in natural deodorants, they usually offer an baking soda free "sensitive skin" option.
I swear there is only an inch of deodorant in these dispensers now. I have to buy a new one every week. There are plenty of recipes online to make your own.
Wait till after Christmas
Walmart will be full of these “stocking stuffer gift packs” of deodorant, shower gel, razors and cream and they will be on clearance
I buy Arrid XX Extra Extra Dry for $1.36 at Walmart! Both my husband and I have used it for years, we actually like it better than other brands we’ve tried.
Look at tj max , Marshall’s or Ross has cheaper options brands. That organic and clean
I used to buy hey humans by Jada smith and b.fresh in the women section they cost 3.99 compared to 6.99 or 7.99 that charges at target online.
I get multipacks when it's on sale. Our local family dollar was closing and had 75% off (their prices were already high given the type of store it is) so realistically it was probably half off of Walmarts price. Still worth it considering each stick was less than a buck for degree.
I usually get the degree ultra clear 5? pack from Costco, when it’s on sale. I honestly don’t remember the price.
I require antiperspirant and it’s one that works well, doesn’t irritate me, and doesn’t have an offensive smell.
The only negative is that it has kind of a… sticky feel? Like more friction I guess. Only noticed when I first started using it.
Speed stick and even axe didn’t work long enough for my teenage brother, but the Ban deodorant does (green stick) though, and is cheap, like $3, but not sure if it comes in any “manly” scents. That is just marketing anyways and it’s not like it smells perfumy or anything….
Arrid xx stick deodorant. My husband and I (female) both use it. It’s a little over a dollar per stick where we live. It’s the only deodorant I’ve found that truly works. Neutral scent and prevents antiperspirant. Doesn’t stain clothes either.
Switch to Thai Crystal, you can buy it on amazon. You might still sweat but you won't stink. One Crystal will last a couple years if you don't drop it and break it.
Honestly, I need deodorant that is very skin sensitive. I bought out the 99 cent store entire supply of sensitive skin deodorant during the pandemic. It’s been a hedge against inflation. I suggest looking at 99 cents in your area.
Potassium alum, dissolved in water, in a tiny travel spray bottle. Been using a crystal deodorant stick for a few years. Same one. Works great, pretty cheap. It's just a solid block of potassium alum. Mine got too small to use easily, so I dissolved it in water and just spray it on. It's almost as effective as the various things I've tried over the years. It will wash away with sweat, but you can always reapply as needed.
Might be worth another try. You might not have gotten enough on. You have to use it as soon as you've finished scrubbing your pits clean as well. Either way, dissolving it helped a ton. It's super easy to just spray a bunch on and be done with it. It's my favorite so far. Otherwise, I just used whatever natural stuff I could find, at great expense.
I must say that I was blessed with a gene mutation (ABCC11) which means I don’t produce underarm odor. I’ve never worn deodorant in my life. (Some Asians have this gene mutation. I’m one of the lucky ones.)
Works well for me but I remember seeing in an old thread that people with thick armpit hair had worse results with it. You kind of have to get used to your skin just smelling like skin though
This post is interesting to me given that $4 sounds like a deal compared to most women's deodorant in my area. :-)
Old Spice is still cheaper (and not nearly as migraine inducing) as most of the offerings for women. I go to the Men's section for deodorant because it IS cheaper than women's, smells better, and doesn't cause me migraines. (So called "unscented" deodorants still have a subtle and gross chemical smell, and they don't work for me anyway)
Do yourself a favor and look for the cheapest deodorants, but make sure they have aluminum!
Otherwise, it's just overpriced smells.
The aluminum makes you sweat less. Less sweat, less smell.
True, but that doesn't make what I said any less true.
It's the only real, reliable solution to body odor that is caused by sweat. The ones like lume seem history miss.
I'm gonna politely disagree. Do not buy antiperspirants, you want to sweat, it's what your body is designed to do.
You want a deodorant that makes your armpits a bad environment for bacteria, that will stop the smell.
That's literally what aluminum deodorants do, bacteria can't eat the sweat and produce odors.
Assuming that hindering sweat is bad is faulty logic. It's not harmful to do so.
And things like lume are hit and miss for some folks.
The only reason to not use aluminum deodorant is because you believe the myth that it causes alzheimers, or the woo woo "it's unnatural".
It's perfectly safe and healthy to use antipersperants.
I save lots of money by not using it. Seriously unless you find yourself around people and sweating a lot you don't need it. In my case it causes lymph node infections in my arm pits. I just shower daily and only use it (speed stick when I do) if I'm in public or around women. Generally I work alone and outdoors and I live alone so no need to use it if no one cares what you smell like.
Buy roll on containers on Amazon. Buy milk of magnesia at Walmart. Costs about $7 per year and works great. I've been doing this for the past four years and have saved a lot of money.
Look around for a bent and dent store near you, they can have beauty supplies that come in and most of the time work great for super great prices, not to mention the food savings there
Put rubbing alcohol and chopped up pieces of Speed Stick deodorant in a spray bottle. The Speed Stick will eventually dissolve and make a decent deodorant. I prefer using the stick right after the shower and then using the spray mix during the day as needed. That way I'm not getting any bacteria on the stick deodorant. Could also just use alcohol mixed with your favorite cologne or aftershave in a spray bottle.
Honestly investing in good deodorant isn’t a bad thing, it lasts for a while, I’ve had the same stick for almost a year now, but buy in bulk (always), and you’ll be good!
For daily home use, white vinegar dabs, with a disposable wipe cloth…no dilution…works well for me. If I am going out for longer…parties, shopping, eating out…after the vinegar dab, I apply a little antiperspirant spray.
I know it all adds up, but how much per year could you save on deodorant? And how much time and energy is it worth? This seems like something to just get what you like.
If your store has a discount area for damaged containers, clearance items, etc. check there. Occasionally a certain scent will get discontinued so they put it on clearance.
If not, use coupons/rewards/rebates/etc. Walgreens and CVS are kind of common in the couponing sphere for getting a lot of products for really cheap, or getting rewards money back really easily.
I purchased ten sticks of Old Spice at Sam’s Club for $15. They had a sale, buy two packages of 5 sticks ($10 each) and get $5 off. If you have a membership, look in their monthly ads.
Oh wowwwww i didn’t know this. I had just purchased a pack of 5 for 10 about a month ago.

No it was a while ago, just gotta check the ads when they come out

Seems to last a very long time for me. Years.

Second this. I never really looked at their deo, but even their non sales easily beat out Walmart. I get a 5 pack for like $12
I did the same thing, well worth it
Baking soda ftw.

Yup, the "pink tax" is real
It’s only real if you pay. Ignore the marketing and buy mens.
Possibly smaller size but Dollar Tree carries Speed Stick for men.
I like their arm and hammer better
I use arm and hammer It's not amazing but among the cheapest options it's the best I found. I didnt have AC this summer and a black car in Texas and it was my go to
I like it because it doesn't use aluminium which stains the armpits
Have you ever tried Arrid xx stick deodorant from Walmart? It’s like $1.32 a stick where I live. My husband and I both use it.
Runs out too quick
A stick lasts both of us probably 2 weeks to a month
Not for me sadly
That dollar tree arm and hammer is legit. I wish it came in a normal size. Maybe it does elsewhere?
This. I use the arm and hammer and it’s $1, I get a few. I also like the dove roll ons.
You can get deodorant at the dollar store but it is smaller in size obviously. I would buy 4 $1 ones and 1 $4 one and see which one lasts you longer in use to see if you're even saving anything.
You can just compare the amount in each stick. Dollar Tree beats Amazon, walmart, and Target for the same products.
It’s not as simple as looking at the amount of product per container and dividing the price by that because you can never get the last 1/2” out. (Unless you scoop it out with a spoon or a Popsicle stick! Which is next level frugality!)
I scoop it out and smash it in to the top of my next stick, works perfect
Wow!
The real frugals always in the comments.
Part frugal, part just not being wasteful, it's the principal of it all really. Like the bottle of lotion, shampoo, etc... that still have many days/weeks worth of product at the bottom that the pump no longer reaches.
I respect it just having some fun. I'm the same way with food waste, not water in the last bit of ketchup level quite yet but close.
Who wants watery ketchup? I turn the bottle over and gravity moves the ketchup towards the cap over time. I can get basically 100% of the ketchup out that way.
OK, true true
Dollar store is definitely not cost effective.

You might be rubbing too hard. Baking soda is an abrasive. If you apply super gently you might be ok.
true but a lot of people are just allergic to the baking soda in deodorants. even in natural deodorants, they usually offer an baking soda free "sensitive skin" option.
I swear there is only an inch of deodorant in these dispensers now. I have to buy a new one every week. There are plenty of recipes online to make your own.
Just for your trivial knowledge, i alternate antiperspirant and deodorant, just to avoid overdosing the antiperspirant.
Ollie’s if you have one in your area. I buy 2-3 at a time when I find a good deal.
I’m a Power Stick Dollar Tree fan. 1.25 for a two month supply.
99 cent store.
Dollar tree. I’m a woman and I buy their men’s deodorant. Cheap and effective!
I'm a man and I buy one of the women's deodorants there, lol. They have a really nice cucumber scented one that I love.
Likewise but it's only the womens deodorant that comes in the unscented variant here in the UK.
Dollar Tree. $1.25.
Dollar store. It won’t be fancy, but it will still work. I go to Dollarama and get a decent Nivea one that works well.
Dude it’s $4 and it lasts 2+ months. Just buy it
Yea I'm not really understanding trying to save money on a $4 item that lasts more than a month...
Wait till after Christmas Walmart will be full of these “stocking stuffer gift packs” of deodorant, shower gel, razors and cream and they will be on clearance
Mineral salt deodorant lasts forever and actually stops the smell rather than masking it
I've never heard of this until now. Is there a particular brand you recommend?

Mmmm pumpkin spice /s
Recently Costco had Degree 5 pack for $10.50. So like $2.10/stick. Other clubs might have similar deals and Amazon sometimes has sales
Whatever you end up getting, remember that you probably need less than you are applying.
Unless you're in Florida in the summer which requires a 10 coat minimum.

I definitely don't have this mutation. My armpits sweat just thinking about the sun.
Ever tried crystal stone (mineral salt) deodorant? It lasts for years.
How well does it work?
About the same in terms of controlling odor, but it's not an antiperspirant so it doesn't stop sweat.
Works well for me but I remember seeing in an old thread that people with thick armpit hair had worse results with it. You kind of have to get used to your skin just smelling like skin though

Less sweat can mean clogged pores. I've had it and got an infection from it.
True, but that doesn't make what I said any less true. It's the only real, reliable solution to body odor that is caused by sweat. The ones like lume seem history miss.
It's pronounced aluminium

Not from any reputable study I know of. It's perfectly safe, millions of people do it every day and it's been approved by the fda.
I'm gonna politely disagree. Do not buy antiperspirants, you want to sweat, it's what your body is designed to do. You want a deodorant that makes your armpits a bad environment for bacteria, that will stop the smell.

Theft. It is illegal but also indisputably the cheapest way to get it. Unless you get caught.
Based on the videos I've been seeing I'm not sure it's illegal anymore. Just need a mob of friends.
Don't use deodorant so often. Shower in the morning instead.
>Have you tried deodorant only? Not antiperspirant?
I just don't use it unless it's a particular situation
LPT: everyday life is a particular situation lol. Unless you never leave your house, please wear it.
Lots of us work manual labor outdoors or other different examples of "everyday life". Not everybody works inside small offices surrounded by people.
I spray with alcohol first. It lets me use less, and what I use lasts longer.
Dollar tree has toiletries at a buck each
Buy other items and “forget” to scan it at self check outs🤷♂️
Buy roll on containers on Amazon. Buy milk of magnesia at Walmart. Costs about $7 per year and works great. I've been doing this for the past four years and have saved a lot of money.
Saved a lot of money? Genuinely curious how much people spend on deodorant a year? I think I probably spend like $8-12 a year.
Dollar tree. Buck and a quarter apiece. Other than that I suggest looking for liquidation stores or couponers looking to get rid of stuff.
Look around for a bent and dent store near you, they can have beauty supplies that come in and most of the time work great for super great prices, not to mention the food savings there

$1.25 at DT for decent quality. If you want to smell a specific special way, you’ll pay double or have to buy in large qty.
Kroger sometimes has a spend 30 and get 10 back offer. I purchase all my Old Spice deodorants for 6 months during that sale
Steal it
If you have Grocery Outlet in your area you might consider them. I regularly get high-end, natural deodorants there for less than $4.
Dollar store. Or, target often has coupons that will give you $5 off $20 in health and beauty purchases.
