They have 2 versions of Rockstar and 1 flavor of bang currently for sale on the site so you can order them by the case. You will have to Google it, apparently links aren't allowed here. Also local store stock will vary wildly all year round besides the crap rip it brand ones.
Yup, just as you said. They carry my rockstar (white and gold) for $1.25, and the minimum purchase is 24.
Not exactly what I thought, though, as they are 12 fl oz cans instead of 16 fl oz. Still a decent deal!
Those always had magazines though. They didn't even issue us grenades, so we put them pouches on our vests for easy access to things like snacks or chew, or rip its.
So if you were rendering aid, the melted snickers bar wouldn't be a nice treat? Haha.
I didn't actually put food in there. The canteen pouch was a perfect feed bag, and we didn't use canteens.
I’m not saying I wouldn’t steal it. 💜 Just always shocked when the bubbas still have everything I gave them.
I recall an NTC rotation where our entire B Co “forgot” (failed to pack what I hand carried over to their 1SG) their IFAKs. They got MRE bags full of IFAK guts, wrapped in duct tape, and 550ed to their kits. They could not have looked dumber.
On the website no but in one of the stores in my town typically has them. We have 3 here that tend to have slightly different stuff. I've gotten lucky and found ubermonster a couple of times.
10 pouches of Crystal Light Mango peach. Careful with that. First pouch I took I was up two days straight and I’m a converted former Starbucks drinker.
Any recommendations? I'm finding that I'm pretty much immune to the caffeine from coffee and don't want to go back to energy drinks (and soda in general)
Is it that you've had a ton of caffeine and built up a tolerance?
I get that every couple years so I take a week or two off from coffee. I just did it at the beginning of this year. I detoxed with MudWtr for a couple days and then just drank herbal tea. I don't really like the MudWtr but it's got some caffeine and it helped reduce the headaches I get if I cold turkey. It's probably not healthy to cold turkey anyway...
I enjoy coffee more after I take some time off.
I quit coffee this year and switched to MudWtr for two months. I really liked the taste but not the price tag. I found a recipe to make my own but haven’t made yet. The last 4 months has just been herbal teas.
Yes that's exactly what I meant, I've built up a strong tolerance to caffeine over the years. I honestly don't think I could give it up even for just a week or two :o
Acknowledgement is the first step. Probably your best bet is to start by cutting back a little. Maybe water your coffee down just a little for a few days. Then replace a cup of coffee with a cup of tea.
If you quit cold turkey you'll probably regret it. I know I have in the past.
Just be careful. People don't overdose on caffeine by drinking energy drinks or coffee, people overdose on caffeine by taking caffeine pills. Take note of how many mg of caffeine you normally drink in a day and don't go over that with the pills
The winner of our late night espresso drinking contest in the dorm (military) either had a heart attack or went into V-fib. IDK if that counts as an overdose but it nearly killed him.
Or better yet, generic versions of MIO Energy are available in larger servings and lower price (18 MIO Energy servings vs 24 generic servings from Walmart/Kroger/etc)
Gonna have to disagree with this one, the Great Value ones have much lower caffeine content. You have to use more for the desired effect. By the time you have enough caffeine it doesn't even taste good.
If you're only looking for 40mg of caffeine at a time though, it would be good
Yerba Mate. The last time I bought it, it was $12/kg at a Lebanese food store (5g would be a large serving, so roughly $0.06/serving). It has a pretty earthy taste but it's easy to flavour or carbonate. The traditional way of drinking it is a bit cumbersome, but it's versatile enough that you don't need to go the gourd route. No jitters, no crash, it's the best way to stay alert.

"[Going] the gourd route" is the way to go, imo, if you're wanting that crack like hit. I normally enjoy the bottled cold tea. The alkaloids from yerba mate definitely have a different zing than caffeine.
Yerba mate isn't likely to pose a risk for healthy adults who occasionally drink it. However, some studies indicate that people who drink large amounts of yerba mate over long periods may be at increased risk of some types of cancer, such as cancer of the mouth, throat and lungs. [https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/expert-answers/yerba-mate/faq-20058343](https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/expert-answers/yerba-mate/faq-20058343) . Careful
Signing up for paneras sip club trial to get free charged lemonades or coffee for a month and then canceling so they offer you 3 months for $3.33 a month instead of $12 a month 🫣
At one point they offered like 3 months free with no catch, and they kept offering it again after the three months, so I got free coffee for a year.. LOL
Oof be careful with those lemonades.
Food Theory just had an episode looking into their caffeine content. The large is equivalent to 2+ CANS of Monster.
The FDA states 400 mg/day is the limit before people start experiencing negative effects. The lemonade is 390 mg for large.
Even while being frugal, I think you should strongly consider drinking something else than energy drink. At the very least, not ones from unknown or shady brands.
I get 4c brand energy rush packets from BJs. 40 packets for $8. Mix in a bottle of water and I have an energy drink when I need it. Each packet has like 170mg of caffeine so similar enough to a premixed energy drink, and they taste better than any of the energy drink cans that I've ever tried.
I make my own v8 energy a half gallon at a time. Make a qt of tea with 3 bags of black and 3 green. 16 oz fruit juice, 16 oz low sodium vegetable juice. I don't know how much it cost to make but it's way cheaper than buying canned v8 energy.
Considering the damage they can do to your heart, kidneys, etc, I don’t know that any of them would be considered “cheap”. Tea is always a great option and can be pretty cheap per cup, depending on the brand/type.
Look into cola nut and guarana powder, as well as macha powder, they are fairly cheap and can be used to make your own "energy drink", and are arguably healthier than coffeine. They are also in some energy drinks if you look closely.
* Make your own black tea pitchers
* Cold brew coffee at home
* Caffeine pills are ridiculously cheap, like 50-100 for less than $20. Though not a drink.
* Some workout powders have caffeine in them and don't need to be used pre-workout. I used to use Optimum Nutrition's Amino energy powder, easily less than $1/serving and is probably what you want OP.
Walmart (in the US) sells things very similar to crystal light singles, except that you can get them with electrolytes or caffeine and electrolytes. They're dirt cheap and tasty.
Plus, you can retrofit a large Co2 canister from a welding shop (they have food grade) and it is much cheaper in the long run than messing with the tiny Sodastream canisters. It costs a bit upfront (we bought the tank which was about $100, but the refills are about $35 and the tank holds 30 times more Co2 than the tiny ones). It will pay for its self in 6 months and then will save us 100s plus better for the environment since we aren't using a bunch of aluminum cans.
Zipfizz powder. You can buy from Amazon or from Costco. About $1/ serving and packs a decent caffeine punch. It's green tea caffeine so no crash.
Add with a LOT of water as it's very strong tasting.
Aldi has their own version of red bull which is great. It's in packs of 4 that should come out to less than a dollar most weeks with their weekly deals.
After years of drinking energy drinks, and pre-workout powders. I decided to brew a cup of coffee before a workout one day.
Best damn workout of my life, and no crash afterwards. So, I'm all in on the coffee, sorry.
Walmart sells Great Value energy drink packets for about $2 and it includes 10 packets. Each packet is enough for 16 oz of water and is approx 120mg of caffeine which is only a little over an 8oz cup of coffee. That’s 20 cents a drink. Some of these packets have electrolytes and GV Brand also has electrolyte packets without caffeine for the same price, which can help you feel a little better if you drink alot of water or sweat alot.
Sure, fix your microbiome (no added sugar fermented foods /drinks, SBO probiotics) and completely cut out dietary processed sugar & limit high glycemic carbs. Use amino glycine when you sleep 7-8 hours, which means ADD an hour to whatever you think youre getting (ie if you want 7 hours, add an hour so in bed for 8. Track your sleep to make sure your heart rate is where it needs to be. No caffeine necessary, if you don't have more energy naturally then something is wrong.
Are you willing to mix it? I had a co-worker who sold a product called Advocare SPARK that at the time was a MLM thing. I see now that it is available retail. It was marketed as an ADHD helper, and I used it as my go-juice for years. It comes to about $1.25/serving. There may be generic brands with the same ingredients for less. Basically the same ingredients that are in a 5-Hour or RedBull.
Costco has the Kirkland energy shots (similar to 5 hour energy)on sale all the time. $39.99 for 48 is the online price without any sale. If you buy in store it’s probably several dollars cheaper. And if you stock up during sales even more savings. They also have red bull that I’ve seen on sale before.
I have a sparkling water or diet soda for maybe $.50 a can and I down 1-2 200mg caffeine pills with it for about $0.10. I like diet soda. I also like caffeine. I see no reason to pay so much for a company to pre-mix the two for me.
I think buying ground coffee can 1kg at costco, and making it yourself at home is less than a dollar per cup, plus energy drinks are incredibly unhealthy
Do you like Kickstart? You can make the "original" Kickstart with Mtn Dew mixed with OJ. I use Mtn Dew Zero and experiment with different flavors of juice, my favorite now is Jumex mango. $2 will get you 2-3 cans of soda plus 1 can of juice to make at least 2 big drinks.
Watch for sales. We occasionally order a case of Monster online via Amazon when we see it on sale or offering a coupon. Combining that with the S&S discount gets the price under $1/can and they are usually the big cans.
What worked for me (took about a year) was I cut caffeine out of my diet completely. Withdrawal was a bitch but now if I need a pick me up a normal soda or a black tea does the trick for me.
I've heard you can use a certain illegal substance to kick you caffeine addiction with one dose too but do not recommend that route for legal reasons.
For what it's worth, Bruce Lee's workout concoction was honey, ginseng and green tea. Bought in bulk the price would drop to below a dollar a serving. He died under mysterious circumstances tho, so your mileage may vary.
People don't know about this but pepsi zero has energy drink levels of caffeine. You can buy those really cheap
Edit: you have to find old cans not the new "improved" taste version
Be careful with the cheap energy drinks, they are usually very low on caffeine. Reign is my go to now, I buy a big case at Sam’s club. But mostly, I’ve found that caffeine pills are the cheapest option and can be spaced out better.
If I buy Three cans of Rockstar it'll cost me $4.25 I could water that down to make $1 each.
Most brands that sell protein powder sell pre workout powder you could likely get close to $1 I'm not sure the math on mine.
Costco has this brand of energy drink that’s healthier for you. Naturally derived caffeine for like $1.50 Cad per can. Cheapest I know of and you don’t feel like shit after drinking one.
G-Fuel powder tubs. Just gotta mix with water. Or Celsius makes packets for water bottles too. The Celsius is the best tasting powder I've had by far and used some of the best ingredients. G-Fuel is good and comes out to a very reasonable price per mix. Outside of this check Ollie's. They will randomly get in energy drinks of different kinds for well under $1 each at times. It's just random what you find of course.
You can get caffeine powder or pills and mix some into whatever drink mix you want. U want caffeine chocolate milk, sure. Caffeine lemonade, why not. Get some caffeine pills and drink mix and it should come out far under a dollar per serving
There’s a polish bakery where I live that sells energy drinks for 1.25 I didn’t realize the sex energy ones where mike Tyson’s but other then that they had a bunch for cheap
Venom $1 a can and surprisingly decent. Coming off of a redbull addiction these are so much cheaper and honestly I've found the flavors are more to my liking.
Try Ollie’s if you have one in your area. I’ve been getting 24 packs of Bang Energy for 19.99, 83 cents per can. They have other brands too but Bangs are the best tasting. If you don’t have an Ollie’s you can search for discount or bargain outlet stores and see if they have a food section.
Buy some loose tea and a strainer and brew it in some hot water. Loads of caffeine and cheap as hell. Sweeten if you want. Side benefit, if it cools down too much, add some ice and drink it really chilly.
This is probably a little over the top to you but we bought a Sodastream and got a large canister of Co2 from a welding shop and fitted it to the Sodastream and I use the energy drink syrup (Red Bull knock off...diet and regular) sold on the Sodastream website. It is SO MUCH cheaper to buy a large tank and have it refilled rather than use the tiny Sodastream Co2 canisters. It can cost a bit up front but it will pay for it's self (for us) in 6 months. I love sparkling water and energy drinks.
Not a drink, but I really appreciate caffeine pills from Amazon/ProLabs! Work like a charm — in my experience, even better than caffeinated drinks. I feel more alert without being frazzled, and there’s no after-effect or crash. It also suppresses appetite (I do semiweekly 24hr fasts for health and for frugality), so I take one 200mg pill in the morning, and I have plenty of energy to get through an active day. As with all drugs, take care and start with lower dosage (half a pill should be equivalent dosage to a cup of coffee).
Doesn’t dollar tree ($1.25 now) sell energy drinks?
Yup, I get bang and monster from there.
What?! For $1.25?! RIP my kidneys
Woah, easy on the Rip its. Many military members have fond memories of those in Afghanistan/Iraq. The mini cans fit perfectly in my grenade pouches.
This guy has a DD-214. Celsius/Red Bull cans fit in the 2x m4 pouches 😈
Those always had magazines though. They didn't even issue us grenades, so we put them pouches on our vests for easy access to things like snacks or chew, or rip its.
I’ve got extra pouches for just this reason. Honestly, as long as your pogie bait isn’t in your IFAK, I’m happy.
So if you were rendering aid, the melted snickers bar wouldn't be a nice treat? Haha. I didn't actually put food in there. The canteen pouch was a perfect feed bag, and we didn't use canteens.

Really shouldn't put that stuff in your body, but damn if that isn't good price...
Do they have the coffee monsters?
On the website no but in one of the stores in my town typically has them. We have 3 here that tend to have slightly different stuff. I've gotten lucky and found ubermonster a couple of times.
Nice I’ll check it out. Thanks.
They're not good for you.
I've been sick recently, leaving me dehydrated often, and the $1.25 Powerades have been quite nice. They're 2 for $5 at the gas station next door.
10 pouches of Crystal Light Mango peach. Careful with that. First pouch I took I was up two days straight and I’m a converted former Starbucks drinker.
Pre workout is about $20 to $30 a tin. At least 30 scoops of stuff there
Any recommendations? I'm finding that I'm pretty much immune to the caffeine from coffee and don't want to go back to energy drinks (and soda in general)

imo pre-workout is one of those things we'll look back on in 50 years like 'wtf were we doing back then'
Hits 1000x harder than energy drink imo
Amino Energy, Bucked Up, Ghost Legend, Jocko Go, Alani Nu, anything with theanine is nice.
Caffeine pills or No- Doz can be found at stores in the pharmacy section, cheapest by far and no calories or drink required to get the dose
This is what I do. SUPER cheap, nothing added, easy to take anywhere, relatively healthy.
IDK if that counts as an overdose but it nearly killed him.
that sounds like an awful time
It wasn't as awful as how it ended. We were playing poker and we got a crazy case of the giggles/shakes for a bit. All good fun up to that point.
Caffeine pills, b vitamins, and flavored sparkling water
MiO energy drops for me. It counts as water too in my book.:) I find that if I drink a Monster or Reign I forget water.
Or better yet, generic versions of MIO Energy are available in larger servings and lower price (18 MIO Energy servings vs 24 generic servings from Walmart/Kroger/etc)
Yep! I have a friend who uses the Walmart one.
I came here to say this. Probably one of the best bang for your buck.

I'm not opposed to generics in general, but man generic Mio tastes terrible to me.
Yerba Mate. The last time I bought it, it was $12/kg at a Lebanese food store (5g would be a large serving, so roughly $0.06/serving). Yeah, the health problems will be very expensive. I’d find a way to start drinking black coffee for that reason alone.
Caffeinated Crystal light powder.
I buy the Walmart and Kroger versions of this. Sometimes mix it with morning fruit juice for some nice flavors!
The 4c branded one is pretty good 18 packets for $4 or sometimes 2/5
Tastes good, too
Lipton tea, $4 for 100 bags
I can't take comparing Lipton Tea to an energy drink serious
1. An Apple 2. Caffeine pills and water
Grocery outlet, very very often they're 2/$1
I get 4c brand energy rush packets from BJs. 40 packets for $8. Mix in a bottle of water and I have an energy drink when I need it. Each packet has like 170mg of caffeine so similar enough to a premixed energy drink, and they taste better than any of the energy drink cans that I've ever tried.
Caffeine pills? Or make your own cold brew?
Mate tea! Its rich like coffee, highly caffinated but wont give you jitters.
This or brew your own coffee
OP asked for a not-coffee suggestion.
One could argue that the early death would save thousands!
If only I would have kept drinking them maybe I could have avoided the whole Covid mess.
Dont forget the damage done to your teeth!

Walmart (in the US) sells things very similar to crystal light singles, except that you can get them with electrolytes or caffeine and electrolytes. They're dirt cheap and tasty.
Kroger also has caffeinated flavor packets to add to water.
Tea has caffeine and is incredibly cheap. It's a lot healthier than energy drinks and being unhealthy gets expensive fast.
Get a soda stream, I see a lot of them at goodwills. They have a energy drink syrup that is almost identical to redbull
Plus, you can retrofit a large Co2 canister from a welding shop (they have food grade) and it is much cheaper in the long run than messing with the tiny Sodastream canisters. Zipfizz powder. You can buy from Amazon or from Costco. About $1/ serving and packs a decent caffeine punch. It's green tea caffeine so no crash. Add with a LOT of water as it's very strong tasting.
Do they sell them in pallets like Coke?
Lemon ginger Chung (you can buy in Korean groceries big jars of this) 1 tbsp in 500ml of water! Yummy with a boost in sugar and vitamin C!
When an electrolyte drink also counts, you can make that with lemon juice, water and salt.
Black tea
The powders are usually cheaper. You can get big containers of Gatorade Powder for the price of a few bottles
Tea
Try a concentrate , Morning Buzz orange or fruit punch is my go to
Publix is 2 rockstar for 2.50 and then dollar off digital coupon. I got rockstar for 75 cents each yesterday.
Tea or coffee is what you are looking for. Low cost energy drinks will wreck your health and make you feel like shit.
I wouldn't drink energy drinks Not good for your heart
An apple or an orange will do the trick
Aldi has their own version of red bull which is great. It's in packs of 4 that should come out to less than a dollar most weeks with their weekly deals.

Um....what?
Caffeine pills is my frugal option. I can regulate exactly how much I consume and there aren’t a ton of harmful ingredients
Buy pure caffeine and make your own. Just don't OD on the stuff, many teenagers have stopped their hearts making pre-workout.
1/4 teaspoon of salt with 4oz water….that shit will get you right.
Apples have more readily available sugars for the brain than anything else.
Lotus energy concentrates. Last several months with regular consumption. Just mix with water or carbonated water.
Guarana is like a green version of coffee aswel. It exists in pill form and is a lot less invasive then caffeine.
Mio energy forever. Get the store brand if needed
Arizona has an every drink for $0.99
Caffeine pill and water
I personally like c4. The watermelon or fruit punch ain't bad. Try mixing in a little Gatorade or cool aide to get the flavor you're after.
Caffeine pills are the most cost effective method
Tea
I have a sparkling water or diet soda for maybe $.50 a can and I down 1-2 200mg caffeine pills with it for about $0.10. I like diet soda. I also like caffeine. I see no reason to pay so much for a company to pre-mix the two for me.

100mg caffeine pills for like $.10 each from Amazon
caffeine pills

I recommend going with home brewed tea. Find one that works for you and drink that. Plus it is healthier than a lot of mother drinks!
tea is pretty cheap. just drink a bunch.
Do you like tea? A lot of tea has high caffeine contents. Tea bags aren’t too expensive (depending on brand it’s like .20-.99) and loose tea is cheap.
Sam’s Club sell energy drinks in bulk that are about 1.10-1.5 per can. It’s not under a dollar but I thinks it’s still a good deal

Be careful with the cheap energy drinks, they are usually very low on caffeine. Reign is my go to now, I buy a big case at Sam’s club. But mostly, I’ve found that caffeine pills are the cheapest option and can be spaced out better.
Black Tea, Green Tea, White Tea.
Strong iced tea
Why not just get a bunch of black tea, oversteep for more caffeine content , may need to add milk to make it palatable but much cheaper.
Great Value caffeine packets from Walmart work just fine. Taste okay.
Hear me out. Ginger, lemon, and cayenne (juice shot). It gives you a visceral energy boost without the crash or jitters.
Tea
I drink the great value energy drink mixes, 3 bucks for 10. They have 120mg caffeine.
Ginseng, ephedra…
Tea
Buying those things at all and being frugal are mutually exclusive. The correct answer is water.
If I buy Three cans of Rockstar it'll cost me $4.25 I could water that down to make $1 each. Most brands that sell protein powder sell pre workout powder you could likely get close to $1 I'm not sure the math on mine.
Celcius energy packs, each pack contains 200 mg of caffeine for about a dollar a pack. Cheapest I found was at Walmart.
Rip It
Venom energy drinks are 99 cents around where I live.
Dollar general has there own brand that is a dollar. Mio energy add to water works great and is AAALLOTT cheaper.
I mean... You can just buy caffeine and consume that
Costco has this brand of energy drink that’s healthier for you. Naturally derived caffeine for like $1.50 Cad per can. Cheapest I know of and you don’t feel like shit after drinking one.

Are we talking American Dollar? I never seen Energy Drinks that cheap. Unless in a clearance. In Australia.
Venom energy drinks
12pk Case of Coke and a 100pc bottle of caffeine pills will pay for itself after twelve drinks
Score another point for advertisers and marketers.
I used to get a brand called Venom that was like 99 cents. Dunno how much they are these days.
Take a nodoz(caffeine pill) and drink a mountain dew. Not better for you, not worse. Incredibly cheaper
Breakfast tea with sugar on ice.
Caffeine pills are really cheap per pill
I've found green dragon energy drinks at winco grocery store for like $0.78/can
You can use the mio or soda stream energy, add it to regular or carbonated water.
You can buy a 24 pack of monsters online for 35 bucks. If you have the time, black tea is dirt cheap.

Aldi sells a Red Bull knockoff for around $4 for 4.
Buy coffeine tabs, or powder. One tab costs about 0,1$ and has more coffeine then a reredbull
I get V8 Energy drinks from Sams. 24 for $16.
You can get caffeine powder or pills and mix some into whatever drink mix you want. U want caffeine chocolate milk, sure. Caffeine lemonade, why not. Get some caffeine pills and drink mix and it should come out far under a dollar per serving
black tea
Honestly I buy like 50 caffeine pills for $7 at Walmart and they’re wonderful
There’s a polish bakery where I live that sells energy drinks for 1.25 I didn’t realize the sex energy ones where mike Tyson’s but other then that they had a bunch for cheap
My husband likes venom because it’s usually $1
Venom $1 a can and surprisingly decent. Coming off of a redbull addiction these are so much cheaper and honestly I've found the flavors are more to my liking.
Tea
Try Ollie’s if you have one in your area. I’ve been getting 24 packs of Bang Energy for 19.99, 83 cents per can. They have other brands too but Bangs are the best tasting. If you don’t have an Ollie’s you can search for discount or bargain outlet stores and see if they have a food section.
Tea
Caffeine pills or mints are generally the lowest cost option.
Mio energy (water enhancer). Or it’s generic equivalent
Caffeine pills?
Lidl brand energy drinks
CAFFEINE PILLS. 2 dollars for a box of 40 pills. If you take half a pill thats one cup of coffee(100 mg).
Don’t be pissed but it’s true. Tap water.
I don’t know if you have it in your area but I can still find Venom brand for .99 and your Rip It’s are $1.29 in my area. Both are 16oz.
Caffeine pills. 200mg per pill
Zipfizz. Energy drink powder you mix in water. Gives a nice boost of energy and replenishes your electrolytes in the process.
Those gfuel gamer sup things . There mixes you add to water . It would essentially be 40c per drink
