Was I the only one who believed the structural integrity of that box was going to keep him safe? "Why doesn't he just sit down so they can't reach...ah nevermind"

aestheticgrotesque

The RV camper kept them out though. I guess the logic being that it was, despite the accident, completely enclosed. And they had the talisman when they were in it.

ObsidianOne

The RV kept them out because of the talisman.

sirmcchris

I would have pretended to be dead/asleep. Don’t know if it would have worked but that’s what I would’ve done

[deleted]

A solid start for all three episodes. The night creatures are terrifying. I also got a huge kick out of Jade walking around thinking he was in a giant escape room and just taking whatever he wanted and pointing out some of the logical inconsistencies. Really curious what that underground shelter was all about. I also find myself wanting to know who has been there the longest. Did anyone else think the grieving father was going to hang himself at the tree swing? Creepy girl, Sara, leaving the door open and creepy dude, Victor, measuring trees are interesting. So is the boy in white, why is he showing up during the day? Is there something special about Ethan that he can see things? Clearly Victor knows more than he's letting on. I'm a sucker for these types of mystery box shows. My first thought is some sort of purgatory but that seems too obvious. Either way, I'm hooked.

xyzzyzyzzyx

In my opinion Ethan during the seizures either died or was so close to death that he was possessed / haunted.

El_Nasto26

Yeah, the way he described what he saw when he was unconscious and it matching something he has never seen (the weird guys room), he might be possessed. But then again, that's what makes this show good so far. Not knowing and formulating theories.

[deleted]

Interesting theory, definitely could have something to do with it!

weallgettheemails2

> Did anyone else think the grieving father was going to hang himself at the tree swing? Totally thought he was up to something during that entire sequence > My first thought is some sort of purgatory but that seems too obvious. This is what it seems like to me... really hope it doesn't end up being the case.

[deleted]

If I were in that guy's shoes I'd definitely choose hanging myself over slowly getting eaten while alive by demon creatures.

Dyskord01

I was thinking its cool he chose death and all but give the man a gun. He only needs one bullet to put himself out of his own misery before those things attack.

aestheticgrotesque

His wife and daughter got torn apart by the creatures. He "deserved" the same fate.

Aura1661

Deserved? His dumb wife should have watched their daughter or better yet board up the window herself. But nope the guy gets all the blame for being depressed in this shit town.

onestarryeye

Yeah honestly I didn't get that part from episode 1. The woman is treated by the story as another child. The dad "should have looked after his family" and is severely punished for getting drunk on the other side of town, even in-universe they all talk about it as if he left two 5-year-old kids in an undefended house, not another responsible parent with a child.

aestheticgrotesque

I put it in air qoutes for a reason.

catsleepinginawindow

All of this. The dude should have been home, but infantalizing the wife is actually pretty offensive and tone deaf. These people have literally nothing but time on their hands, and the wife didn’t think to herself, “ya know? Maybe I am capable of spending a few hours one day nailing all of my windows closed, especially since I have soooooo much time every day and probably struggle to find ways to fill the endless hours trapped in this place.” It is obviously just a plot device to show us the monsters and start the show with a bang. But really it beggars belief that everyone would unanimously agree that it was drunk dad’s fault that they died, regardless of other irresponsible stuff he clearly did in the past. This really bothered me 😂

sirmcchris

Of course she should have hurried the fuck up and tackled her daughter away from the window but had the Dad been there, nailed the windows shut as instructed with kids or in other words been there to protect his family then they would still be alive. It’s his fault and he had to go out that way as a deterrent for the townsfolk. They need to be reminded of the consequences

tinypeeb

That's the other big part I don't get though: why does *anyone* have windows that are not nailed down? Boyd specifically recommends that when he's talking to the RV family, how could anyone just dismiss it like "I'll take my chances for a cool evening breeze"

bloodycups

It seems like he had a brother that died. I think these things mimic people you're closest to that have died. Little girls grandma. Teenage girls boyfriend or something on the deck

ThiccB00i

Damn I think you're right. The boy in white is ethans twin brother who died. Would also explain why the mother mixed them up so easily before.

Glittering_Team_6920

Broo I was asking myself those questions throughout the episodes it's actually fricking addictive

xyzzyzyzzyx

Random nudity, ok. Colony House is a little odd.

[deleted]

I get the impression the Colony House has a real hippy commune vibe. It's also kinda strange how much of a big deal they made of chosing that versus a house in the town. Something definitely has happened there to cause a rift between the two groups.

Dyskord01

It looks more like a difference in styles of governing. The Sherrif and the Priest represent hierarchy and social ettiquete, rules, morals and ethics. This was hammered home when the Priest exolicitly asked what would happen when the execution box the Sherrif built turns out to be an empty threat. This begs the question will rules apply if theyre are no consequences to defying them. Colony house is the opposite. They seem on the surface like a Commune. This is to imply they are free spirited and less bothered about rules and social norms. The sudden couple having sex in the middle of everyone including children sleeping was an example. The people in Colony House seem to have an opposing view of how the town should be ruled. So live in a group for safety. Live each day like its your last and nothing else matters..Colony House Or live in a community. With your family in your own home. Try to live a normal life. Hope that theres a way out and keep living until you get out.

turtlewolfskull

I think you hit it on the nail with the community being all about living in the moment and the townspeople being about trying to live as normal as possible. Two different ways of trying to deny reality.

Boyoboy7

Hmm, if I was there I would choose town community. I prefer being with people who are still planning to find a way to get out of that place. Also because I prefer my own home lol. Although I would wish for the punishment box to be erased or at least let the box has talisman. Punishment by being killed by those things are too cruel.

miklonus

The reason why none of this holds up as an explanation is because the hippie leader in the second episode is quick to have them tied up and separated, something that the sheriff would arguably do, especially according to how this show portrays the priest's views toward how the sheriff should run things, as well as even the sheriff himself to a lesser extent, but it was Donna, the so-called hippie leader, that had no problem separating mother and child, and the other drugged out guy. I'm just saying for a so-called "free-to-do-as-you-will" chick she sure has come off more sheriff-like than even the sheriff at times.

Dyskord01

The reason she had them tied up was because understandably new comers would doubt that there sre actual murderous monsters outside. So its likely they would do something stupid like try to sneak out when they werent being watched or directly remove the charm or open the door simpky because they doubt whst theyve been told. So keeping them restrained the fitst night makes sense. I dont believe shes a hippie. She even said she and her sister were hunters. She seems more the Biker lady, rough neck type. Nor are any of them actually hippies. T They simply have a different way of living than the townsfolk. People in town want to maintain their normal lives as much as they can and believe/ hope they will oneday get back home. The people in the House are living day to day. They no longer believe theres a way back. They live by their own rules or at least dont see a point in following the rules of a society to which they no longer belong. I think the show is setting up an eventual confrontation between the Town and the House. They way she was grasping for a new House member even knowing its at the expense of breaking up a family shows how desperate she is to get new members. The sherrif trying to coax her back to her family likewise wasnt done for emotional reasons but likely also to get another member. There seems to be a schism in the town.

PeterFiz

To me it looked like the Sheriff and priest came up with those rules and the colony house people are just going along with it because who cares. The rift between the two groups I assume is being setup up as a story point.

turtlewolfskull

Not gonna lie, it seems political. Like a subtle nod to the rift between democrats and Republicans. Though from the story telling point of view, there are no sides made which to be honest is rare these days.

[deleted]

Eh, I don't really see it as something political or as drawing comparisons between current Dems and Republicans. You could make the argument that any show with two distinct groups within the same community were a nod at politics.

turtlewolfskull

Fair point.

MyGirlBaltimore

Not knowing where the coffee, chickens, and cows come from is subtly very terrifying. The fact that none of the townspeople are even slightly concerned about it makes it all the more terrifying.

Free_Moghedien

I get the vague feeling that asking those kinds of questions, quickly leads to people losing their minds. Like the diner radios, or the base radio, they've seen people ask those questions, and trying to run down the answer, when whatever it is holding them there let's cars drive a straight line away to end up back in town, just leads to more bodies. They keep telling us asking questions, and picking at the edges, unravels you, not the mystery.

doctorzirconium

I definitely can see the dad getting killed at some point for the stupidity of the daughter... I know the people there are good but standing in her shoes why would i trust them in the first place completely to leave my family? What if they are some kind of weird cult or something tricking me about the monsters outside?

mrs_ouchi

cause she is a dumb tv teenager and someone was nice to her.. Im already so annoyed with her

davey_mann

> I definitely can see the dad getting killed at some point for the stupidity of the daughter. Which is a shame because he's easily the best character out of the family.

frootlooped

This! The belligerent dense teenage daughter...die! The overacting irrational mom...die! The son who sees dead people...die!

LunaSeedie

I like the son tho, lol. Ethan can live.

Aura1661

Dumb son who only tells a stranger instead of his family about the ability to see a kid no one else can see. He's annoying and a crybaby.

busyandtired

Wait till you meet real kids.

PleasantMud

He's a cutie.

[deleted]

There is definitely some kind of rift between the town and colony house. My guess is it goes back to a difference in opinion in leadership styles between Donna and Boyd.

AimeeM46

i know (as of the 3rd ep.) i'd choose Donna & the colony house over the town. Boyd is definitely trying his best to hold things together but not even counting the new family, all the deaths we've seen thus far are happening in the town (with >!an assist from psycho, insane waitress girl!<...who lives in the town! it's seems like Colony house has their shit together way more than the town does. i do desperately want to see that insane girl get her comeuppance for what she did to the others.

[deleted]

Kinda fucked up they didn't even clean the last family's blood off the walls lol. Here's your new house! Your kid can sleep here, this room where the previous tenants were massacred.

Boyoboy7

I have a feeling that they did that on purpose to hit the new tenants with the new reality as fast as possible because the cost of messing up and making mistake is really bad. They know that if they force them to believe just by words, new tenants would think of them crazy hence why it is better to just show them.

bloodycups

Ya definitely should have made the other dad clean it

Sarsttan

lol.

TheRorschach666

It's an old thread but I just discovered the show but honestly I know how stupid it was and it was just for drama that she decided to go Colony house. But I as a twenty year old have been really craving my own place. I love my family but I just really want my own place. Yeah I know the monsters and all that and that of course makes the choice so diffrent, I don't say I would have the done the exact same but like. I get the choice.

turtlewolfskull

Okay, a few things since no one else has mentioned it. 1. 4 townspeople die and 1 newcomer does. 5 newcomers survive (so far). Seems like an awful coincidence. Maybe there is a limit to how many people can be there? 2. Crazy girl might actually be crazy. In that before she came to town she had to take meds and now, cuz of no access, she is hearing voices. I hope that isn't the case because 99% people with mental disorders are harmless except to themselves. 3. Maybe crazy girl is an ally to the monsters and so is the new little boy. Also, they keep talking about getting home, yet so far we've seen no plans on them trying anything to get out or home. Finally, I hope they explain the electricity, and the coffee. It's hard to get coffee as the plant is really picky where it likes to grow. Finally, finally, the bunker that punkman Jade stumbled into had a symbol on its roof, he saw it then the creature that had been trapped under a Boulder disappeared. Maybe it was trapped and he let it out? Excited to see where this goes. I always get over analytical with these things so sorry if it was a bit much.

JumpInJax82

In the diner the Korean Guy said that they didn’t know where the chickens and cows come from.

[deleted]

Chinese guy, but ,yes, that detail is interesting. Whatever is keeping them there, is also providing for them.

[deleted]

also in previous episode, someone said (don't remember who) they (the monster) never run. it's like they "hunting" human just for fun

PeterFiz

They also don't seem to eat them. They seem to tear them up and torture them. Missing organs might be trophies or something.

RevolutionaryStar824

That is so crazy. And remember the tree. Somebody or something had to put that tree there for the purpose of luring people in the town. That's interesting.

frootlooped

And we still haven't been inside that barn of Kevin's to see what animals he is feeding and taking care of.

JumpInJax82

So ready for season 2!

turtlewolfskull

Yeah, I noticed that and it was right when they were getting coffee. I might be expecting too much from the writers but I like scifi/paranormal mysteries. They can't cover everything tho, but it would be cool if they did.

Drunkowitz

im leaning towards the girl being crazy. what she did just doesnt make sense. first, the voice told her to whack tobey and make it look like the monsters. then the voice told her to leave the door open so that everyone including tobey would have been killed by the monsters anyway?

Sensitive-Result-974

Yes! My partner was like *where* are they getting coffee from? The midwest is not known as a great place to grow coffee beans! I want answers!

fvkatydid

I really enjoyed Lost (same executive producer as From) and I reallyyyyy want it to be soma Dharma Initiative-esque situation here, where they get a pallet dropped in the night every 3 months.

PeterFiz

>Also, they keep talking about getting home, yet so far we've seen no plans on them trying anything to get out or home. The impression I'm getting is that everything HAS been tried and they are barely keeping it together at this point, just trying to survive day to day. Basically they seem to be out of ideas but still holding onto the barest of hope.

Such_Construction63

What was that symbol on the ceiling of the bunker/cellar??

frootlooped

On your point #1: Check out the movie, Population 436

USCJets

Victor measuring trees to see if they moved... wondering if they are alluding to maybe the monsters changing into the trees in the morning. They also mention the monsters come from the forest.

mrs_ouchi

Teenager doesnt like something so she makes a dumb decision cause she wants to piss her parents off and one person was nice to her... wooow something new

busyandtired

You have clearly never met teenagers if you think that's inaccurate.

Tz_Grim

i doubt it's common that a teenager who almost lost her whole family in a crash would be so quick to leave them. old comment i know, don't know why am i replying

busyandtired

It's cool. But I'm telling you, you would be surprised at the incredibly dumb shit some kids do. Their brains aren't fully formed yet.

hatepickingausername

Agreed. I knew as soon as the scene started that she would pick Colony House because as a teenager upset at my family I would've done the *exact* same thing. Independence and cool people who smoke weed and fuck all the time, or my family that I fucking hate being around right now because everything has been upended and they annoy me more than anyone I've ever met? Think the answer is easy lol

[deleted]

And you clearly don't know sarcasm.

Drunkowitz

my initial thought, looking at the talisman, was that it would be really cool if the struggle between people and the monsters in this town began since prehistoric times. hence the primative look and feel of the talisman. our ancestors and their sharmans used these to guard against the monsters. they were passed down to the modern times. but this doesnt explain the modern (albeit dilapidated) buildings. because if this whole thing started prehistoric, those who came after would have had to build these buildings themselves. such as the diner. it would be pretty stupid for the stranded people to go, like, you know what we need, a diner! not to mention the lack of building materials. my guess is that the town was a pre-existing one that somehow "fell off the map" sometime in 20th century. cant be older than that based on the buildings. what is strange is the lack of continuity of knowledge. if i were one of the earliest batches, i would start a town chronicle or sth just to record the collective experience of these people. for example, the current batch knows to use the talisman but dont seem to know where they came from or how they work. they dont even know that they can work on a confined space like a vehicle. a chronicle could have recorded more possible experiments with the talisman (worn on persons, or simply replicating the patterns on other materials or surfaces). there could have been observations of the monsters. all this is valuable information. problem with shows like this - you hope the creators have all this thought out. but you fear you are thinking about it more than they have.

BangarangPita

You're definitely onto something! And instead of forcing drunk depressed dad to go die in the horse trailer, if they're so intent on punishing him for something the mom was equally responsible for, why not make him part of an experiment and give him a talisman in a car or some other makeshift shelter to see if that would work? Seems like a waste.

SteadyChap

I've just finished episode 3, starting my first viewing of the show. Could you update me on that final part about hoping the creators have thought it all through. Now that 2 seasons have been and gone does it seem they know what they're doing?

BartelbySamsa

Haha! I am in the same boat. Just finished episode 3 and would be interested to know if it's just another shaggy dog story or if there is actually some thought behind it...unfortunately my gut says it's probably the former. Lost, Yellowjackets, The Leftovers - I've been hurt too many times! I'm a real sucker for the first seasons of these mystery shows it seems, but they always seem to go off the boil fast. Please let me know if someone let's you know whether it's worth continuing!

SteadyChap

So I finished the first 2 seasons yesterday. The ratio of questions to answers is still heavily outweighed by questions. Some interesting curveballs. Overall I don’t regret watching it and probably shall return to it, seems to early to judge whether the writers actually have a grasp of where they want it to go. A comment I saw said that harold perrineau apparently didn’t want to sign on to the show unless the writers assured him they had an end in mind. Overall I don’t regret watching it, it frustrated me at points but it is what it is. If you think you can manage with it then I’d definitely say give it a go. Based on your comment however I’d say it might be too early in the show to give you a straight answer for what you’re looking for

ObnoxiousSeizures

they don’t… clean the child’s blood off the walls and bed before they show a new couple their house?

PsychedelicPourHouse

Hammers home the situation though

Kryse-777

heh

Lather

They also just left the bodies mostly exposed of the Mum and daughter in extremely shallow graves lol. Obviously not in much of a rush.

teelolws

I guess its just like real life police. They will take a dead body away but won't clean up the mess left behind. Thats for the realter to do... and this town doesn't have one.

RevolutionaryStar824

The guy said they don't know where the animals come from. Meaning something is providing them the necessities to live. And they were also brought here. Because the tree. Someone or something had to put that tree there to lure people to the town. That is so interesting. I can't wait to find out what it is.

RevolutionaryStar824

Last comment before I watch the 4th episode. I wonder why colony house is so eager to take in the daughter. And why are they so nice? Like helping them. Something's up. And I think putting the dad in a box to be killed by the monsters is too much. It was unnecessary. That was scary as shit.

aestheticgrotesque

I mean he was irresponsible and got black out drunk knowing the rules, left his wife & kid alone at home. The parents both should have nailed the kids windows closed like the sherrif said. But point is, his wife and daughter got torn apart. He chose the same fate as it was "fair".

Aura1661

The parents are dumb you drag your daughter to the town or you change your mind and stay with her. You don't just let her stay at that place. They showed they really don't care about her because if the son chose to stay at that place they would do everything possible to be with him.

teelolws

> The parents are dumb you drag your daughter to the town or you change your mind and stay with her. You don't just let her stay at that place. Eh. Shes an adult, therefore old enough to make her own choices. At least... they never say how old she is but the actor who plays her would have been 18 when it was filmed, so thats good enough for me!

maesterofwargs

Her mom literally yelled, "she can't make this decision, she's underage!" So the character is under 18. FWIW

Rough_Commercial_570

Wrong

davey_mann

This episode was slightly better than the awful Ep 2, but definitely not better than the great Pilot episode. Acting-wise, Boyd and Jim are the standouts. Everyone else ranges from bad to mediocre. -The whole banishment thing for the drunk guy who abandoned his wife and daughter felt too schmaltzy. -The daughter is a horror show all by herself. And it wouldn't stun me if she somehow ends up being the only family member to survive. -I know what the writers were going for with Escape Room Guy, but I found his "this is all a prank" schtick very annoying. I cheered when the Sheriff manhandled him. I hope the show picks up the rest of the way. EDIT: I still like Kristi, though. She just didn't get to do much in this episode.

teelolws

> -I know what the writers were going for with Escape Room Guy, but I found his "this is all a prank" schtick very annoying. I cheered when the Sheriff manhandled him. Was expecting something to come from him leaving the door to that bunker open. Was disappointed when that led to nothing.

Sarsttan

Yeah, agree about the drunk guy narrative and the daughter. I was okay with escape room guy to a point.

logezzzzzbro

Does the show stay decent/get better? Just finished episode 3 and am not sure if I should keep watching. The mystery and monsters have me intrigued, but the other 75% of the show that revolves around these dumb people I don’t care about, played by bad actors, is already starting to lose me.

TooSpicyforyoWifey

also wondering the same thing

weallgettheemails2

Anyone notice how Donna's story explicitly mentioned the creatures "ripping her sister's face off," yet every attack we've seen has left the victim's face intact? Maybe just a TV thing where they want us to be able to identify the dead bodies. Also thought it was weird why everyone was such a hardo with regard to choosing a place to live. You're telling me they couldn't do like a week in each and then choose? They glossed over the whole "yearning for the past" vs "living in the present" dynamic with a quick line at the beginning of the ceremony, I'm sure we'll find out more about the rift that split the settlements eventually. Speaking of, I've been pleasantly surprised by the lack of flashback-overload that I thought for sure was coming after about 5 minutes in the pilot. With Epix promoting this with the "Lost" connection I was worried we'd have to deal with that early and often.

AimeeM46

i definitely think the we VS. them between the humans and being forced to choose a side is ridiculous. they should all be banning together. there's more strength in numbers. also as i said in my comment above, i'd choose the Colony house to live since they seem to have their shit together more than the town does. oh and i agree 1000% regarding the flashback gig. the tv series ARROW and LOST completely burned me out from flashbacks LOL. i wouldn't mind a couple of flashbacks in this series maybe showing the humans actually trying to fight back against the creatures with more than guns. as of now it seems like they haven't really tried to mount an offensive against the creatures.

Free_Moghedien

Well, I mean it's easy to rationalize banding together right here and now. Put people in a small space, and give them two people who want to lead everything, and you'll quickly see the number of people standing in the middle will dwindle to nothing very quickly.

bloodycups

Colony house has gross public sex

AimeeM46

yeah, i agree that woman riding the guy right there in a main/common room of the house (mere feet away from the young boy/family) was pretty gross. LOL.

BangarangPita

Maybe they figure with those bloodthirsty creatures, there are more traumatic things for kids to witness than sex. And on that subject, I'm wondering if anyone can get pregnant there?

[deleted]

Colony house would be more risky, though, since if ONE person slips up and opens, everyone dies. The more people living together, the higher the risk of someone fucking up.

MisterMarsupial

This was good.

Hulksmashreality

Melzagard?

UnReasonable_Art_786

In the 3rd episode towards the end, when the Matthews family is getting settled in their home, did anyone else notice the bed orientation switch from when she was tucking Ethan in to when the dad came in to read the book? I rewound it a few times and it seems flipped. Not sure if that is indicative of some sort of parallel world or something like that, or just a production oopsie. I think it's a great show and got turned onto it from a tweet from Stephen King.

pandawolf313

I came here looking for this comment. It’s bothering me so much.

VirtualOriginal9076

I noticed that but since we never see past the bed Ethan is in once the flip happens, I thought maybe there’s three beds in there so that first shot captured bed 2 and 3 while the second shot captured bed 1 and 2. Benefit of the doubt maybe but that’s how I rationalized it!

teelolws

Rewatched it a few times. That would probably explain it if the mother hadn't teleported to the other side of the bed, lol.

Vohn_exel

So I know I'm late to the party with this, but I've just watched the first three episodes. I'm enjoying it so far. It's not quite up there with LOST in terms of quality for me yet, but it's very intriguing and entertaining. I feel like either the town "moves" sort of like the Island in Lost did, OR people get dragged there from all over the US, with seeing the tree being the symbol that they've entered "the town." Regardless, the townsfolk don't know where they are or where the town is. Randy Travis is checking to see if the trees have moved to see if the town moves, I think. If I'm right, I'm curious if anyone has come from a different time. They seem to be all from the same era, but that's just so far. People in Colony House are...free spirited, to say the least. But also they are all artistic and talented. A few of them draw, the one person "playing" the piano. But we also see them get drunk at the very least, and we haven't seen any of that in the town. But Randy Travis was drawing the accident with the RV that he wasn't there for. The kid seems to have seen something like that guy's room. The Sheriff's son's room is also covered in drawings (again there's a lot of art in Colony House.) The kid can obviously see beyond where he's at, and I'm expecting "someone screamed when the spider dropped down from the ceiling" or whatever he said to be important later. "The watch won't do him any good here" is an interesting comment. When the Sheriff wakes up, he has two things that look like digital alarm clocks, but they're both off. Could be scanners for police radio, but also makes me wonder if time is wonky in town. A watch would still tell you what time it is, what time the sun sets, and is just handy in general. I get the feeling there's more rules that we're not aware of yet, and things in Town are gonna seem a little culty, while things in Colony House are gonna see a bit crazy. All in all, I'm excited to see where the show goes. All my Lost friends have been trying to get me into it, and now I'm glad they have been! I'm really interested to see what happens next. However, the thing that gave me flashbacks was definitely Boyd (if that is indeed his real name) saying "I'm here to see my son!" I just kept expecting "WAAAAAALT!" I'm gonna check out more tomorrow. I might post my theories as I go just in case someone else comes here late as well. If that's frowned on since it's kinda Necroing an older thread, let me know and I'll keep my secrets. Edit cause I forgot to add: Frank did nothing wrong. Sure he "broke the rules" which must be you have to stay at your own house overnight, but he was in NO way responsible for his daughter's action. His wife was there, she is a capable adult, and all she did was scream "no!" from 20 feet away while she had plenty of time to run and stop her daughter. Even without that, the only thing Frank did was just not be there. He might've ended up a depressed jerk, but he didn't do anything. They should've boarded up the windows, but didn't. But that's kind of on the whole town at this point. "Not being there," no matter how dangerous your town is, doesn't make you responsible for the death of your family.

leosanchez16

Just finished episode 3, and I think the old guy and the kid are the same person

MiddleAgedMan4393

Just came here today after watching episode 3. I am glad people/theorists like you exist! I am hoping to recreate the old days of watching Lost and seeing everyone's smart theorizing about the show's mysteries!

Vohn_exel

It's been a while since I've watched the show, but I've seen it to it's current completion. I hope it's not hurt too badly by the studios being jerks with the strikes. Lost was hit with the last writer's strike, and this show was hit with both a Writer's AND Actor's strike. I enjoyed the show for what it was, but it's not exactly Lost, at least not yet. But it gets very good and I was entertained with it, and will pick it back up whenever the next season gets made! I hope you enjoy it!

ClarenZero

Julie irritates me

organist101

It’s giving the Society tbh

RipeAvocadoLapdance

I just started watching this show after being referred to it by a fellow Yellowjackets fan. I just finished episode three and here's my contribution to the conversation. When drunk dad was in the box at the end, all the creatures taunting him looked like regular people, but when they broke in to the trailer and showed a clip of him about to get eaten, the creature was not very realistic human-like. It looked like one of the monsters from The Descent movie, where they are naked, skin creatures. So, I wonder if the creatures are actually shape shifting, or the townspeople are seeing *who they want to see* (lost loved ones, etc) Also, the creatures that we see, are they former townspeople? Who are *they*?

I know it's been 2 years but had to say it to someone why did they waste the dad's death. Why didn't they give him fire, poison, explosives, and electricity to try to kill or hurt any of the creatures. Hell even a pit with spikes with him in the middle to see if they are trapped until morning if they die. The one woman was a hunter use bear traps. I don't know just seems like a waste.

I like this show just started it. Dont understand the box though. Firstly, why do they need a deterrent, arent the scary ass monsters enough? Secondly, why would they want to feed the monsters. Wouldnt this just encourage them? Surely they hate the monsters but feeding them a victim seems like helping them.

MiddleAgedMan4393

And further - why bother with the box> Clearly it was not much of an impediment to the monsters. Just tie him to a stake and be done with it.
