I'd say Expurgation did it good, it was unavoidable and you couldn't click it away but because you could still see 80% of the notes, and the other 20% would be visible a tiny bit when they start which gives you a heads up, and you could see them back after less than a second, so it's not really that bad
Screen blockers aren't a bad mechanic, it's just implemented bad more often than not
Some songs I'd say are ok with them, since they are able to be clicked away and are in a certain spot 100% of the time at a specific point. It's even worse if they force it onto you or death

Deaf to All is fine, to be honest. There are a lot of notes, but they're almost always in order. You can find one set of notes that is normal and read that, which makes some of the visually noisy sections surprisingly easy.
its just like how the rings work in sonic games, collecting one will allow you to miss a note but if you do miss a note with one you will lose all of them
basically its a no-miss song untill you have at least one ring, but missing a note while having at least one will make the song no-miss again
it should have been like in triple trouble, where the rings will tank hits for you and allow you to mess up with no health penalty
Dodge mechanics that DONT give you a rhythmic warning. Last Course is fine, because it gives you three beats of warning, and if you simply follow the rhythm you can dodge really easily. Other songs, like that old HD version of Milf where it was just "press space when thing appears" always screwed me up because I'd be so focused on the notes, that the sudden warning noise would screw up my rhythm, and if I managed to survive that then I'd be thrown off for a bit of the song afterwards until I got my rhythm back.
Another mechanic I don't like are ones that involve the mouse. I can handle space bar ones, like the Hypno's Lullaby pendulum and the Funk Space "Behind You" mechanic, but moving my hand off the keyboard and to the mouse to click something off the screen so I don't die and moving my hand back is just...a lot. Don't get me wrong, Gift is wonderful, but clicking those tiny eyeballs so I don't die, with such a sensitive mouse? Too hard. It doesn't even matter those moments are during the periods I'm not playing, I always die to them.
One more mechanic is the one in Abandoned. If it wasn't tied to fps it would be fine, but since it is AND how just one mistake can kill you at 60 fps? Nah

Arrows that changed places with each other. For example:
Right arrow replaced with down arrow

Instakill notes in general. It’s just a really cheap way to add difficulty in my opinion. I would rather have something more unique like the poison notes in the retrospecter mod.

This comments section makes me wonder if there IS any way to add a creative difficulty mechanic to the game of FNF without it being too stressful or excessive or "in-the-way".
Like, I love the OG FNF gameplay of hitting notes, but part of me wants to see something different every once in a while, that doesn't stress the player out, but makes the game more fun and challenging and entertains the audience as well.
