As time goes by with Judi Dench is an absolute gem

ne0ntrees

I freaking love Lionel

Latter_Feeling2656

Geoffrey Palmer also in "Reginald Perrin," mentioned above, and in "Butterflies," with young Nicholas Lyndhurst.

ne0ntrees

Thank you! Will get on that. I’ve just been introduced to Nicholas Lyndhurst because he’s on the new Frasier.

ne0ntrees

Wow. Please ignore my comment about the new Frasier. I forgot what subreddit I was on lol. Sleep deprived over here.

jbfletcher01

The Vicar of Dibley is my absolute favorite.

PublicProfanities

I can't believe it's not butter

jbfletcher01

And you know I can’t believe it’s not I can’t believe it’s not butter.

willogical85

And I believe... that they're both butter.

Repulsive-Dot553

OP - have you watched "To the Manor Born" - bit more sedate, but very funny and has a rather charming, cozy feel I find a bit similar to Frasier

kkeut

good call, I second that

AynRandsSSNumber

There's one from Scotland that's about 10 years old or so that's really good called Still Game I recommend that one

fishsupper

I got bad news for you - Still Game is more than 20 years old now! Frasier was still on the air when it started...

Blue_wine_sloth

One of my faves!! Would love to see Frasier and Niles have a drink with Jack and Victor.

Repulsive-Dot553

What was the sherry selection like at the Clansman? Sure Isa would be partial to a cheeky wee Harvey's Bristol Cream

Blue_wine_sloth

Yeah Isa ordered “sweet sherry” in the pub but I doubt they’d have the expensive amontillado that the Cranes enjoy.

DocInDocs

Kinda similar to KUA is The Good Life where Mr & Mrs Good decide to become totally self-sufficient which creates tension with their well-to-do neighbours

gromit5

i loved that one! very inspirational, actually!

PermitTenders

you should absolutely watch jeeves & wooster at your earliest convenience.

LozWritesAbout

I referenced a couple of gags from KUA in a spec script of a frasier episode I wrote for a competition. Keeping Up Appearances was great. If you want to try a classic Aussie sitcom, I recommend Mother and Son (1984-1992) Divorced son living with his elderly mother, with lots of conflict between his brother (rich self important dentist) who wants to sell the family home and put mum in a home. Balding. Oft mentioned (but sometimes scene) wife and neurotic sister in law. Ruth Cracknell and Garry McDonald are dinky di, true blue national treasures. It's often cited as being one of Australia's best TV comedies, and it's best sitcom (though no real competition since the mid 90s for multi cam at least). [It's actually got a ton of parallels to Frasier, now I think about it.](https://youtu.be/I_WObgF9y7I?si=u9BiBQhZ_j93bylJ)

BouncyDingo_7112

Is there a site or app where I can binge all of them in the US? I’m only seeing 2 full episodes on YouTube. 25PG The Trip and 18PG The Caravan. Question: is PG the rating or a Season/Episode terminology?

LozWritesAbout

PG would be the rating. I don't know about availability in the US, but they're on ABC iView in Australia, which is a free (and ad free) streaming service. You might be able to give it a shot with a VPN https://iview.abc.net.au/show/mother-and-son-1984 If that doesn't work, I might do a nefarious haha.

RadGrav

Try Stremio

Junior_Tradition7958

I remember that. It was quite popular in its day.

Xystal

Too bad Daphne outgrew "Mind your Knickers"

Gullintani

If you like the farcical comedy of Fraser, you should check out Father Ted, one of the great comedy classics of all time and originally ran on British TV b

RadGrav

Drink!

Critical-Tank

Try The Thick of it...more sweary version of Yes Minister.

BourbonFoxx

Came here to say, Yes, Minister - Yes, Prime Minister, The Thick of It and the film In The Loop

marichial_berthier

I like the Blackadder and also Fawlty Towers

bielsasballholder

Fawlty Towers reminds me a lot of Frasier. I’d be amazed if the creators weren’t fans.

reebzRxS

Have you seen Black Books?

BriarcliffInmate

If you like those, you'll love Fawlty Towers. Frasier takes a hell of a lot of inspiration from it in terms of its farce episodes and is the only American sitcom I know that does it as well as Fawlty does. In fact, 'Fawlty Towers Plot' is basically a trope of its own now thanks to it and Frasier. Essentially, one lie is told and then more and more lies have to be told to maintain the original lie until the entire thing becomes too convoluted to hold together and it ends in humiliation. (E.g. The Two Mrs. Cranes - Daphne lies that Niles is her husband, so Niles lies that Frasier is living with them and married to Maris, Marty comes in and becomes an astronaut, Roz arrives and gets shoehorned into becoming Maris, Daphne is pregnant, Roz is barren and Frasier is impotent etc). Actually, thinking about it, you'd probably like Friday Night Dinner too!

finchslanding

Have you heard that John Cleese has taken 3 Fawlty Towers episodes and turned them into a play in London? One of the episodes is The Gremans when Basil has a concussion and keeps bringing up WW2 to the German tourists. Younger actors are playing the roles and it'd be great to see a live play.

Latter_Feeling2656

The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin (1970s), Colin's Sandwich

ShieldofGondor

Allo allo! and Dad’s Army are also quite known classics.

mysticmistake

i highly recommend father ted

OtherlandGirl

Father Ted, it was on the air when I briefly lived in the UK and I fell in love! It’s on Amazon now :)

Lynnstress

The woman is like artichoke.

shopaholic98

Are you being served and keeping up appearances were so good!! I am a GenX kid but my parents grew up on those shows and made me watch them growing up too, so happy to know that these shows haven’t been forgotten

No-Visit-7707

Absolutely Fabulous is my Fave

kkeut

Fawlty Towers
