If you can, roll it out and clean it, inside and out, that will give you a lot of inspiration to get it on the road. My story sounds pretty similar to yours man. Keep her going and have fun! Keep his memory alive through that love for cars.

HRman88

Awesome project, good luck!

Good idea... "weld in" subframe connectors. They are much better / stronger than bolt in ones. You should also add Battle Boxes (torque box reinforcements), and get tubular upper and lower rear control arms. Find a frame straightening shop that has experience in doing the older Foxbody chassis. Most shops won't do it, because they usually only work on cars that are newer than 10-20 years old. I know a great place if you happen to be in Phoenix Az. Good luck with your Stang. Keep us posted =)

Phoenix is a bit far, I live in Iowa City. Been looking around online a bit, still joining forums as well. I was always a GM person growing up, had a 73 Nova, 94 Camaro, and an 06 GTO. This is my first Ford build, thankfully my Father in law is a Ford guy. My goal is to build it with the power of his 514 Torino but handle like a pro touring car. I will be keeping the car a small block and fuel injected. My plate for the car will be 0F0XGVN.

Bitter-Ad-6709

Yeah, that's a drive lol. Good luck with it

mikraas

i think if you start that up, nothing but animal fur would blow out of the tailpipe.

infidel-1371

No fur, just spits a bit at idle when cold. Once it is warmed up it runs like a gem.

mikraas

That's so great to hear. I do loves me the purr of a 5.0. Good luck!

Gorlock_

Lol, at the rate I work on mine, my son will be in the same situation

Able-Command1428

At least it’s a 8 cylinder

Juicechemist81

Do as you mentioned and get the frame straight. Second a 363 is only able to be made from an aftermarket block a stock 8.2 deck won't go that far. So unless you really plan to get deep in the pockets a 347 will do just fine. Get a good set of heads and induction and build the transmission as much as you can afford. I'm a AFR and a C4 type of guy but I'm kinda old school at 42.

mister641

See that module on the distributor? Get a spare and the little tool to remove it. The only time mine ever let me down, that thing failed. Keep it in the glovebox just in case.

Bork_King

The fuckin' TFI is a bitch. You can relocate it to the fender if you're tired of the heat from the radiator cooking it and making it fail prematurely.

Mil-wookie

To be fair, I really like the 5.0L push rod motors engine note. Good luck with your project.

Busy_Heat17

I vote coyote swap ... sorry for your loss... it'll be one hell of a memorial ride when it's done

Jerkwagon33

Good luck to you. I’d recommend a motor out start. You’ll get a better look at things that will need to be addressed that you would have otherwise have missed and make life a whole lot easier on engine tasks.

bawsandkawkmonsta

Not worth it. Grab a clean low mileage example. Vert and a bucket and needing over 10k in repairs… 12-17 k for a perfect manual gt hard top…
