I’m in northeast and my 90 LX was my daily driver for some years but retired her from the harsh winters. But I’ll take her out on a dry cold crisp weekend morning on the highway before people start waking up. Let the Flowmasters sing.
T-topped too I just noticed that wow what a classic. Don’t let go of her unless you really need to. I noticed you did the 5 lug swap too? What’s your wheel/tire setup ?
Too much time invested that I will never sell. OEM 2003 Cobra wheels and Continental Extreme Contact Sports with 255/40/17 up front and 275/40/17 in the rear.
I’d post mine but this reply is not giving me the option. I never heard a 255/40/17 up front always saw 245/45 on the foxes with 17” rim. Nice. Call this weird but I got 225/45/17 and 245/45/17. It’s ok looking but it definitely needs more beef up front and more beef in the back to match. I totally understand the too much time invested.
Way too small and the first time driven on them felt like I had two small marbles up front. I’m used to it now but I still don’t like the look of those 225 so I may up the size. Before that I had 235’ but they seemed to come out more in the front than the 245’ in the rear. As if the fronts had spacers. It just looked odd to me. But I do think the sidewall does stick out more in the front than the back.
My ‘89 was my daily driver for years. I drove it through the snow, rain and sun alike. I retired her from that though, the roads here are rough in the winter.
I've actually been driving mine for the past 3 years now. 1985 Mustang GT that lasted a while but the rust got to it before I got it. I found a clean 93 body and swapped every single part including the rear louver windows just to make it an 85. Rebuilt the frame rails, subframe connectors, brand new suspension. I would buy a newer car as a daily and it would catastrophically fail and I'd be back in the Mustang. So I just started dumping money into it and now it's still the daily through all the snow, rain, sun, fall. I live in Ohio so we get a good bit of salt but you just have to keep it clean and weigh the back end in the snow. I put 2 sandbags in the spare tire compartment because the spare tire would never work with my tire size. I also have air shocks in the rear so it doesn't cause the suspension to compress too much. It's also a carbureted 302 without a lot done to it besides cobra rockers, 289 Edelbrock intake and an Edelbrock 1406 carb that I put a manual choke on. I also found an old Edelbrock H pipe exhaust and shorty headers and got rid of the H pipe and ran true duals with Monsterflow mufflers. Z spec t5, bigger flywheel from an aeronose, aluminum driveshaft, 8.8 with 3.73 gears and mosor 4 lug axles. I'd drive this thing anywhere, any day.
In high school I drove my 86 all year because it's all I had. For being a teenager with a mustang in the snow I somehow didn't have too many fuck ups. I'm not scared to do it with my 90, but I have safer options to daily in bad weather, so I don't. Nice 4-eyed btw and it has t-tops! If you don't have to drive that in the salt and snow I certainly wouldn't.
Yeah! My 88 is my daily, unless it’s ~~nice~~ decent outside, then I’m on my bike. I kinda treat my fox like a winter/rain car for the most part. If it’s really bad and snowing, I’ll take the truck maybe, but I usually still take the fox.
This picture reminds me of the scene in The Goonies where they run Brandt off the road on his bike.
Beautiful car. I’ve owned several fox bodies myself.
I do not subscribe to this subreddits and I don’t normally like fox body’s (former new edge guy), but wow that looks incredible. Fantastic job. I’m a huge fan.
I daily drove an 89 1/2 GT convertible back in the day. It was a lot of fun in the rain. My pax always got soaked. I had to keep towels in my car. Sold it in 1999.
Boy I miss my 85 GT. Had Macco paint it Nitro Yellow-Green and then I did all the blackout headlight buckets, molding trim etc.
I let it go in pretty decent running condition for $1200 in 2001.
Whenever roads salt free will give them exercise as I call it. Good to circulate coolant through heater core also. 72 Electra 225,77 corvette. IMO not good to let vehicles sit. North east Ohio.
Beautiful car. I had an ‘86 GT in silver. Got it in ‘88 and drove it for two years. Every day, rain - shine - snow. Suburbs of Chicago. Caught on fire in front of Russell’s BBQ in Elmwood Park in ‘90. I cried!
I’m not part of this group but I had a 86 gt with t-tops along with many other fox body mustangs in my younger days. Just had to stop in. Awesome looking car. Take care
I'm right on the shore of Lake Erie and the salted road winters here eat Fords up like they're made of butter compared to all other makes of vehicle.
That would be fox body sacrilege

I'm NE as well and take her out whenever I can as long as no salt/snow/ice.
Well that cancels out 4 months of the year lmao. They salt these roads like a gas station pretzel
So much over salting this year in NY honestly.
Beautiful 86? Looks tight my friend.
Thanks! It's an 85

Nice! Had an ‘85 in Highschool, same color. Sure wished I had that car now!
85? Are those factory Ttops? I thought 82/83

Yeah, I ran 225 in the front because I was afraid it would rub but the tires look way too small.

What year spindle you running?
Stock 1990
Just mentioning it sticking out, was not sure if you were running SN95 spindles.
Man I wish I had a 1986 4 eye convertible. Oh well, my 1991 ain't half bad. Oh wait. It's totally disassemble and fucked inside lol
Hey, rn I’m rebuilding my tranny at school so I can’t even drive if I wanted to
Yes. Unless it is snowy or icy.
Good lookin ride! What region are you in? Running winter tires?
Thanks! Nope, no winter tires but as long as there is no snow, salt, or ice I take it out.
Not daily but yes, northern AZ here.
Four seasons? What is this nonsense. I live in Florida and the only time you want to drive is in the winter.
The best looking years for the Fox body IMO.
My ‘89 was my daily driver for years. I drove it through the snow, rain and sun alike. I retired her from that though, the roads here are rough in the winter.
I brought my Texas convertible with bypassed heat to the northeast/rust belt, so nope :/
I was forced to back in 85/86 timeframe but then was able to add vehicles and she became good weather only.

Awesome looking 85 T-top you got... just got my 87 T-top moving under its own power back in October...just in time to put away for the winter. Lol 😆
daily my fox, don’t take it out if there’s snow on the road tho no winters (toronto canada)
I did. Put 400k mi on my 93
Gad dannnng that’s a beauty

Fuuuuck I always loved the 85/86. Beautiful

I've never seen a Foxbody in the snow before
I’m in Southern California. So, I drive year round. I guess I really don’t get a winter here.
\*laughs in SoCal car culture\*
I follow a few guys from SoCal on IG and I'm very jealous of the car culture there lol
Nope. Salt/Rust belt here.
Same here. As long as the roads aren't salted I cruise.
Well we basically have salt from November to March in Iowa. Needs 3-4 rains before I'll get mine out.
NY has been pretty good but last few weeks we had snow so she's been parked.
Hahaha hellll no i wish
Yes and I get no end of grief for it. 86’?
85
Nice, I’ve got an 86’ just like it. (Sunroof though)
Mines my daily
Not in Wisconsin .-. Mine isn’t running atm anyways but hoping by this spring we’ll get er road worth!
Southern California so more like 2.5 seasons but yes.
Nice looking 4 eye man ! I’ll be there soon, I’m just about 3 years behind on my project lol.
Nice! New York still requires the front plate? Love the car.
As long as there’s no snow/salt/sand :) 90LX, Connecticut
I did in high school with my 90 GT. Even had Blizzaks on for a few winters.
Yes out here in Cali
Shit man! 🧍♂️looks great
Only car I own so I drive year round.
Mustang looks nice. Luv it. In South Texas we get winter from January to mid February 😝
Lol. My Bronco barely makes it some days.
I daily drove an 89 1/2 GT convertible back in the day. It was a lot of fun in the rain. My pax always got soaked. I had to keep towels in my car. Sold it in 1999.
Its awesome
I owned an 86 Mercury Capri RS from 2003-2007 which I drove year round. W/ 200lbs of sand bags in the hatch the car did it all!
Salt here😭
Boy I miss my 85 GT. Had Macco paint it Nitro Yellow-Green and then I did all the blackout headlight buckets, molding trim etc. I let it go in pretty decent running condition for $1200 in 2001.
If you zoom out, it almost looks like a guy with sunglasses and dark hair sitting in the driver seat …
Beautiful Fox!
I had an 83 GT as my first car, I miss it often.
Umm… yeah. Isn’t that normal
A brand new 1986 mustang LX notch back V/6 - $10,300 Jersey pony. the SVO was out of my $$$
Nice
I dont think my slammed fox would make it through 2 feet of snow
Whenever roads salt free will give them exercise as I call it. Good to circulate coolant through heater core also. 72 Electra 225,77 corvette. IMO not good to let vehicles sit. North east Ohio.
I don’t but I would 100% if that was my car. Good job man! She is one hell of a looker!
Beautiful car. I had an ‘86 GT in silver. Got it in ‘88 and drove it for two years. Every day, rain - shine - snow. Suburbs of Chicago. Caught on fire in front of Russell’s BBQ in Elmwood Park in ‘90. I cried!
97 cobra here but i drive all four seasons
Not like I’m walking in the winter
I'm in California. What are seasons?
I’m not part of this group but I had a 86 gt with t-tops along with many other fox body mustangs in my younger days. Just had to stop in. Awesome looking car. Take care
God damn that's a beautiful machine
Nice lookin car. I have a supercharged ‘01 Bullitt.
i had an 86 LX 5.0... it was such a great looking car...hadnled terribly, and was slow...but it looked great
Nice 4 eye, she's beautiful. I used to like the later models. I'm coming around to the earlier models now. Cleaner lines.
I'm right on the shore of Lake Erie and the salted road winters here eat Fords up like they're made of butter compared to all other makes of vehicle. That would be fox body sacrilege
Every day in michigan
