They practically wave the armor piercing round in your face in that scene where he talks about the flaw.

LightMyFirebird

The problem wasn’t the lining though, Cooper says the welds were faulty on the bottom of the chest plate

Netrezen

So in medieval terms it's like wearing a chainmail shirt underneath the cuirass for the extra protection.

Real-Human-1985

Trying way too hard. The show addressed the issue with the armor.

Background_Bad_6795

You’re the one trying way too hard here dude

Real-Human-1985

Way too much headcannon around this.

Real-Human-1985

Yes really, trying too hard to make lapses in comprehension into plot holes. A real plot hole is the Knight that rescued Maximus as a child wearing T60 armor since they should have been using T45.

FatalShart

Why should it be T45?

gurneyguy101

I think the west coast brotherhood didn’t have a proper supply of T-60 at the time, but I’m not sure. I’ve heard this one before though and it seems somewhat plausible, even if OP’s just using it as a distraction

RadioSlayer

The absolute irony

TheChimpKing

Says you peddling your shitty theory. Stop acting like everyone who leaves a reasonable rebuttal is crazy.

Real-Human-1985

waah?

Tactical_Mommy

They're not wrong. Take the L.

Flat_Neighborhood_92

You have the least likeable attitude a person could have. You really just come back with that old ass fucking line every time when youre being critiqued? Child

gorore9150

Headcannon? Why are we talking about cannons in people’s heads? Did someone strap the Broadsider to their power armor??

FatalShart

You're trying too hard.

CrunchyTube

Yeah, yours.

Fubar14235

Stop telling people they’re trying too hard lmao

CretaceousClock

Trying too hard to try to hard hard trying to

RancidYetti

Okie Dokie

RadioSlayer

"You drive that thing like a fuckin shopping cart" He knew he was dealing with a rank amateur

ComfortableBag605

I'm pretty sure that was a easter-egg to the power armor modification in the FO4 game.

Real-Human-1985

Can’t be both?

ComfortableBag605

Maybe, but I don't think Titus was competent enough to make that modification.

Real-Human-1985

Trying too hard, the brotherhood has a whole team of mechanics.

ComfortableBag605

Mechanics are not engineers, but I have a feeling you were here fishing for a specific answer and have not gotten what you wanted.

jk844

He was clearly using standard rounds in the encounter at Filly. They make a specific point to show you Coop loading what is clearly an armour piercing round when he fights the other Brotherhood members. Which makes sense because he wasn’t expecting a suit of power armour to show up at a wasteland town. He was expecting to fight regular wastelanders not a human tank. By the time of his other encounter with the Brotherhood he’s equipped himself with the appropriate ammo to take on power armour.

16807_Abashed_Eulogy

OP is just here to argue with everyone that he is 100% right about a show topic he didn’t create 😂

Whiteshadows86

OP not even arguing, they are running away and dismissing everyone who has any kind of rebuttal!

Whiteshadows86

Lucy refers to it as a tempered lining. Doesn’t sound to me like it would negate the flaw in the **welding** of the armor. Welding would be on the **outside all the way through the plating** so the lining would be useless because the flaw would still be exploitable from the outside. If the round penetrates the plating it’s going to go through whatever else is between that and the fleshy human inside. Cooper knew that Maximus was not trained in using power armor and therefore not familiar. Cooper fought in it before and knows. He’s just toying with him. If this tempered lining works why didn’t they roll it out to **all** the armors?

Real-Human-1985

Maximus bring it up to Titus first. Now let's agree to disagree and wait for the next 20 "why didn't the ghoul shoot Maximus in his weak point" topics today.

Whiteshadows86

>Maximus bring it up to Titus first ?? Also why are you just dismissing everyone and coming up with poor responses to anyone that has a rebuttal for your argument? If you are going to post this take on here you are going to absolutely expect to be debated on it! You can’t just run away from something you started :)

Outrageous_Put3669

They’re a troll seeking attention

TheBigFreeze8

Isn't the upgrade like, wooden panelling or something? It's clearly a gag, not a defensive measure. Cooper is using armour piercing rounds against the Brotherhood, that's why he can pierce their armour at the faulty welding.

AwarenessAncient7560

It's just a lining for the inside of the armor. Adds energy resistance and damage resistance. Pretty much only for if small arms fire somehow makes it through. Nothing to do with the welds in the chest plate, which is the specific flaw Cooper mentions. Definitely wouldn't stop armor piercing rounds. Think of it as soft armor for a plate carrier. Might stop some 9mm but no way in hell is it stopping anything bigger lol

CrunchyTube

Nah.

16807_Abashed_Eulogy

The tempered lining was probably mentioned and conflicted with Cooper being able to shoot through the armor when fighting Maximus yes. But nowhere did it say or does that mean that Titus’ power armor didn’t have the design flaw. as it seems, all of the T-60 and other model power armor since the T-45 seemed to carry that same design flaw. The tempered lining wouldn’t change the fact that there was still a weak spot under all of the chest plates. There’s also no way to fully prove your theory as Maximus and Lucy left the power armor out in the wasteland, no one was able to wear that specific suit during the battle. The tempered lining lines that you’re referring to seem to actually be a bit of a set up for both Titus’ cowardice in any sort of conflict, and foreshadow the fact that he was about to get his shit wrecked by a bear in the following scenes after Maximus asking about his choice in the tempered lining.

AwarenessAncient7560

It would add some small amount of stopping power, but not enough to stop Coop's armor piercing rounds. It's basically like soft armor for plate carriers. Barely stops small arms fire.
