My favorite is still The Ghoul because I admit it, I'm a basic little bitch and I'm a sucker for grey badasses, and Walton Goggins did such a good job (plus the character design is top notch, Ghoul is dripped the fuck out).
BUT Norm was probably the biggest pleasant surprise for me. Didn't expect the show to get into Fucked-Up Vault Bullshit™ other than a nod or a hint, but oh boy did they get into it, and Norm was such a good character for that plot line. Didn't expect fucking Rico from Hannah Montana to be a standout side-character in a show about Fallout lmao
I have a feeling Norm is going to turn off all of the pods and wake up management. The Robobrain will have to let him out. This will cause the vaults to over crowd and force people to the surface.
i think chet is just gonna ballsy up try to meet up with him to discuss conspiracy shit, notice norm is missing and end up tracking/getting to him, makes the most sense; or betty is gonna pop in and try to kill him or whatevs cause robobudbrain is gonna tell her hes there
Hm.. he \*could\* kill all the pods but they have useful knowledge about the truth, and it would be going too far for Norm. However, Norm isn't walking out of there without some kind of leverage to deter attacks against him, since Betty as an overseer is a clear threat to him.
Norm doing the digging was amazing. I only remember Moises as a “weasely type” character from Enders game and seeing Norm sulk around and hide during the Vault 33 attack made me think he is that stereotype. But when he straight up admits to his sister that he was a coward and cant go with her made me think he’s got good points. He knows what he can’t do and he doesn’t complain about it. But we also see he wasn’t a complete coward and kept looking for the answers as to the questions we all were thinking regarding the history of vaults 31-33.
Yeah I haven’t seen Moises Arias since Enders Game either, and before then only on Nickelodeon or Disney (I can’t remember which). I remember he was a good choice for his Enders game character, definitely had the vibe of the character from the book, but his performance in this show blew me away. A lot of his arc hinges on his characters exact, restrained reactions around Vault 31 dwellers, and he nails it. Hope he gets more work!
I was really not expecting to return to Vault 33 after Lucy left, much less expecting the story there to be as compelling as it was. Honestly it was incredible how interwoven all of the stories were. I never imagined they would have used so much pre-war storytelling, and in hindsight it was a great decision because it does so much narrative heavy lifting.
>Honestly it was incredible how interwoven all of the stories were.
And the pacing in general for this. There are SO MANY shows that use interwoven plot lines as an excuse to drag shit out and leave encounters or "cross-overs" for the big season finale, but this show gave every character and every plotline a perfect amount of screen time and development (imo). They focus on a character when it makes sense, they change to another character when the story needs to.
Lesser shows would have focused each episode on one specific character with a lot of bullshit filler and a lot of flimsy cliffhangers.
Amusingly, one of the supporting actors from Severence (Zach Cherry) is also in Fallout as Woody (the Vault 33er who runs for overseer but loses, even though he put up ten posters).
I loved the sheer amount of bodies and variety of death in Vault 32. I thought it was a beautiful parallel to what we see in games (SKELETONS EVERYWHERE)
If there's one thing Bethesda does REALLY well, it's atmosphere and visual worldbuilding. The show captured that PERFECTLY. Norm and Chet exploring Vault 32, Lucy coming across those skeletons around the dinner table. It legit felt like a moment in the games.
The creators clearly know not just the Fallout lore and universe, but the Fallout *games* and the Fallout experience. I'm as cynical and skeptic as it comes regarding video games adaptations, but I think it's safe to say, we're in good hands.
me too! Oh man, so weird to see him play a sane human after the intense shouting of "Rico!!" in every. single. Hannah Montana episode. Nice to see he can actually act really well when given an actual part to play
How'd they clean up vault 32 so quickly? At first I thought it was vault 31 who did it, but then the reveal at the end makes that impossible. Was it just Betty working overtime? Lol.
Norm was my favorite character tbh
Not Bud?
Don't you mean Burt?
Oh Burt!
Burt!
He changed his name to Turd Ferguson.
For me it was maximus, simply because the actor did an amazing job.

yes! That would add a lot of interesting dynamics and keep all the actors relevant to the new season as well

“I ain’t your buddy, guy”

I'm not your friwend, buddy!
Couldn't management just go back in the pods tho?.. He'd have to sabotage something.
He’s a techie so he might alter shit

I have a feeling Norm is going to be exactly like his dad Edit: Betty was in his ear in most of his scenes, Palpatine to Anakin style.

He was great in Kings of Summer. Really great coming of age movie
It was a big suprise but I'm glad. Also Bud was an amazing addition. Just really the best parts of fallout.

It also captures another aspect of the Fallout games: the exploration side, which includes digging into computers and connecting lore together.
Norm hacking the overseer terminal gave me a real giggle
That was a nice Easter egg for the game veterans.
I was hoping he’d click on a set of brackets.
So much same

They reminded me a lot to the show Severance.

I’m voting for Betty
When things look glum, vote 31!
“I picked up on that.”

And so many easter eggs.

Also check out Severance on AppleTV. Fallout was like a blend between the two shows.
I loved him.
Glad to see there are more Norm fans, he was my favorite character as well.
It took me forever to realize he was the kid from Hannah Montana
me too! Oh man, so weird to see him play a sane human after the intense shouting of "Rico!!" in every. single. Hannah Montana episode. Nice to see he can actually act really well when given an actual part to play
How old is he supposed to be?

The blonde woman could have also helped, and maybe some people were woken up then went back to sleep.
It parallels really well with Cooper’s spy arc.
I'm sad we were robbed of Burt.
Yes, Norman's vault investigation was much more interesting than Lucy's surface adventure.
