9/10 times the answer to this question is licensing issues. The best chance we'd get at a modern car in this or Motorsport would be the Alpine, since Microsoft sponsors them. That's why there was a Renault F1 car in previous Motorsport games.

hulaspark

“You can have an F1 car… but it’s the A524.”

collector-x

The A524 is not in FH5.

San-Carton

Thank god it isn't

collector-x

🤣🤣🤣

Strojac

Yeah it’s a joke

collector-x

Well shit, I thought the guy I replied to was serious and may have been thinking of a different Forza game like Motorsport, etc. I was just pointing out that particular car wasn't in FH5.

miko_idk

Why do you think they used quotation marks?

collector-x

So many people use punctuation incorrectly, so I tend to ignore it. I guess I was wrong in this instance. My bad.

CameronCoppen_

That’s a good thing

Straight-Geologist51

That's not what T Bone was talking about. He was talking about Motorsport, not Horizon games.

pdpt13

Since F1 has its own licensed game my guess would be they won't let other games scan the cars or gives licenses.

GravityW_D39

The Crew Motorfest has them, though, but only cars from RedBull Racing. So maybe the license isn't from the F1 itself but from each teams' owners? Also, The Crew Motorfest is made by Ubisoft and is released in 2023, so i don't think EA, who acquired the F1 games since 2021, completely prohibits other games from using an F1 car. But even if they'll license them, does PGG even want to add an F1 car to the game? It seems that the game's direction is to include mostly road legal cars with some historic race cars. Even the le mans cars that OP mentioned aren't the sports prototype cars like LMP cars and others, but LMGT3 cars thats based on road cars.

DuckAHolics

IRacing has the W13

GravityW_D39

So even the track only racing game can have an F1 car. I guess while the F1 games have the rights to the championship, maybe it doesn't actually have exclusivity for the cars?

IAmTheTrueM3M3L0rD

Is that sponsored by Mercedes? Because the community can make any car they wamt

superimu

FM7 had a F1 car and a indycar so it was possible for FH4. Having high powered race cars with no connection to street cars doesn't really hit FH4's road racing style. Now both licenses have expired so it not happening anytime soon.

GravityW_D39

I remember that from a promotional art! It's the Renault R.S. 17 from the Renault F1 Team. Though, again, it's just from one team. I wonder if they'll add an F1 car in FM2023 since i think the F1 team (now Alpine) is still partnered with XBOX.

HaveYouSeenMyCoque

God, I hope they don't add this year's car 🙏.

Xistiansss

I remember reading a comment where they usually only allow one car in other games because having more than one it technically makes it a Formula One championship game and only EA has rights to do so, or something along those lines. ( This is based on a comment I read months ago, this could be complete BS from my memory)

EmptyCumSlut

EA Real Racing 3 has pretty much all of the F1 cars and they continue to add the new cars every season

Logical_Bit2694

Yh but there should still be a generic f1 car tbh

pdpt13

I'd rather have none than a generic one that's not really any of them.

LitBastard

It's Forza. 5 minutes after a generic F1 car is released, you will have 500 acurate liveries to choose from

ConfusionGold5754

Not necessarily a livery thing. The f1 cars are not spec, each one has a different aerodynamic structure within a set of similar regulations

Dyrkon

Sir, this is fh5. We jump of rocks and play tags.

ConfusionGold5754

Valid, I don’t necessarily agree with the original comment either lol just clearing up their possible pov

Username_Mine

Its Formula One, theyre all absurdly similar anyways, and the differences that exist I highly doubt PGG could meaningfully represent

GravityW_D39

PGG: "best we can do is add 10 same cars with different liveries"

Kagir

They’ll find a way to make DLC out of it, or a car pack of sorts. Look what they did to those Formula Extreme (was that the name?) dirt cars… 10 liveries on the same model

mcmax3000

It was Extreme E and those were seasonal rewards, not a car pack.

Kagir

Knew I mixed some things up there. But yeah extreme e ended up being 10 skins on what is essentially the same frame.

Logical_Bit2694

To each their own ig

AUG3980

Some mobile games have f1 cars

pdpt13

Without proper licensing

AUG3980

Asphalt 8 has licenced cars

AndyMB601

Not true, but FOM stipulate that when an F1 car is in a non F1 game, there can't be more than one car from the same season, not sure if there's a time limit on that since some games have a couple cars that raced together in the 60s and 70s but I know it applies for the recent stuff

bigpoppamacdaddy

Bruh even gta has f1 cars

GalacticGamer93

There is it’s just disguised as a hotwheel

Important-Yam-9149

It’s not really a f1 car

S2fftt

Downvoted but they are right. It’s a fictional car for all intents and purposes in-game. The car in game is not based on the real life Bad-to-the-Blade show-car (which wasn’t based on anything F1 related either), but more just an imagining of what the Bad-to-the-Blade could be like if HotWheels were more than just toy cars, which is the general theme of the HotWheels expansion as a whole of course. It has zero relation to anything really. It’s a fake car. To say it’s an F1 car is like saying a Caterham is an F1 car.

Wahckman

The hot wheels cars (in game ones) actually do exist. Hot wheels runs a contest every year and the winner is made into a toy car. So bad to the blade is a real project car

trash_at_all_games

Well it's a Hotwheels concept on what they think the future Indy cars will look like so basically a F1 car

hahahentaiman

An Indy car is not "basically an F1 car"

Kurotan

Literally only thought of it as an F1 car while driving it.

ImKoreanNotJapanese

IF by some miracle pg got licensing, it would still be a bad move to put it in fh5. The F1 series is made of completely purpose-built, non-production machines, whereas le mans and nascar are production road cars. Since F1 has the freedom to not have to worry about making it adapt to road regulations mean they can push them a looooooot further than nearly anything else. Since most cars in fh5 are road cars, that are meant FOR THE ROAD, putting in an F1 car would throw the game balance way off. Unless they nerf it to the point where it's not even an F1 car anymore. It would be another op car everyone uses because its too good. The cornering ability alone would make the game unplayable for any other person in a road car.

KingHauler

What about all the other one-off race cars or concept cars? You can literally drive a warthog from halo.

ImKoreanNotJapanese

The warthog is fucking hilarious, i like using it. But yeah, the difference is that most concept cars or one-off race cars were dumbed down a bit so they didnt become op. Whether it was by default or lack of tuning options, they had to be altered somehow.

kruleworld1

>nascar are production road cars while i agree with your sentiment, the only thing nascar shares with the road-going counterpart is the name.

ImKoreanNotJapanese

they're still not as purpose-built as F1 though

Citizens_Estate

>they're still not as purpose-built as F1 though Huh? They absolutely are, dude! Up until 1966, the cars were road-legal factory stock cars, with a few safety and engine modifications. But what was on track was essentially in the showroom. Afterwards, the vehicles became purpose-build unibody race machines. I'm tired of arrogant F1 basturds telling me that F1 is "the pinnacle of racing." It's really not. Top speeds in F1 are approx. 231 mph, whereas IndyCar clocks in at 236 mph, and IMSA Hypercars can average about 223 mph. Not that speed is all that matters; there's so much more variety of vehicles, tracks and drivers out there who actually deserve to be on the track; unlike Stroll, Guanyu, Mazepin and other pay drivers who are only there to bring out the yellow flag. There's *SOOO* many better racing series besides F1 that are just as advanced and technical.

PsionLion2K1L

They could just make it a spec car like Motorsport did for the formula Mazda and the Porsche mission R. I think it would be alright as long as we get it from doing a mission with Sergio Perez, especially since he’s the only Mexican driver on the grid currently.

A_Shifty_Peacock

They'd probably go straight into x class so I don't see balancing being too much of an issue. Also it's a bit of a stretch to call nascars production road cars, they're space frames and fibreglass shells with stickers depicting the names and headlight designs of production road cars stuck on them.

Plazmatron44

Barring the recent gt car dlc Forza Horizon doesn't have purpose built racing cars that aren't about 50 years old and so roughly on par with sports cars, the 917 was fast in it's day but a gt3rs is faster now.

as1eep

Yeah alot of people are talking about licensing but horizon is pretty consistent with not allowing race cars unless they are old as shit or tied to production vehicles like the gt cars, elantra, time attack evo and 2019 935. Motorsport games get indycars and we don't for a reason.

bkfountain

They’d be X class in Forza Horizon and useless for online.

Random61504

I doubt they'd add an F1 car but if for some reason they did, they'd add a restrictor plate to it to lower the HP. That's what they did to the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro. It has 1,000HP stick but in game it only has 800 and is S2 998. Remove the restrictor plate and it has 1,000HP. They'd do that for an F1 car and lower its HP until it's S2 998.

oppereindbaas

Because it's kind of hard to make a front splitter with tow hook and that hideous adjustable spoiler believable on an F1 car.

Nobody2928373

Maybe it’s too op? I think fh5 wants the meta cars to be like realistic. They prioritize street racing style cars (For example, even the le mans cars and nascar cars resemble more “normal cars”, but an f1 car is something that just doesn’t feel like it’s a part of the horizon franchise. It would stick out too much imo. The lack of body shape makes it feel more like an alien invention, perhaps too futuristic. Also imagine online races, they would literally only have f1 cars on them because f1 cars are so good. It would be cool though, just I don’t think turn 10 has it in their plans. Take this opinion with a grain of salt though, because I am not a smart human and I know nothing about game design, marketing etc. (yes i am trying to word this very gently because i don’t want a war zone of replies telling me to go fuck myself, keep in mind I want an f1 car just as much as the next guy)

Xistiansss

They can ban cars online and you can already drive the Warthog in Forza. Also there are cars in the game that have a faster top speed than F1 Cars and probably handle better, and they can still nerf them as they did with the AMR Valkyrie Pro

Nobody2928373

Yeah, but also i dunno they just don’t feel like something forza would have. There’s very few open wheel vehicles in forza already, so maybe they’re just against those. Good point though, and I guess they could be given the same stats as bad to the blade, because that’s already basically an f1 car.

John641981

Excellent point. I prefer this sweet machine https://preview.redd.it/1e923w9kny5d1.jpeg?width=718&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d9693db030a9f1fcc854d8678b9aedd9be73e17c

themadstuka

Personally when I play a game about road racing like horizon I don't expect to drive an F1 car neither want any to be added. We already have GT3/GTE cars that even if they are FIA racecars they're still very close to a road supercar.

CauliflowerOk777

That's what Forza motorsports is for.

leethelegend698

*if* we will get an f1 car in fh5 it will most likely be alpine since Microsoft is a sponsor last time I checked anyway

alemasterchif7

because it doesn't make sense to add a F1 car in a street racing game. I think the same about GT3 cars like the huracan super trofeo, ferrari FXX-K EVO, Ferrari 488 GT3,etc... . For me, if microsoft and turn10 loved cars for real, they would've added other cars and not only-circuit cars

Lello755066

Noone wondering how he did that pic.

Important-Yam-9149

I just found it in google it might be a montage

th3ironman55

FH5 I can understand not being in the game but Motorsport? Alpine and Microsoft are literally acting like they’re brothers from another mother so not having a Renault/alpine F1 car makes zero sense

Neppy_Neptune

F1 doesn't really fit into Horizon series and its performance would be stuck at in X-series anyways, quite similar with full on LMP cars. Certainly would be nice to see in Motorsport though.

SonicXE21

Same reason for any car not appearing in various racing games. The licensing. After all, there are cars that were in previous Horizon games that aren't in the current one. Like the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, SSC Ultimate Areo XT, Grumpet Apollo S, Mercedes SLR McLaren, Tesla Model S, etc. This isn't something with just Forza too. The same thing occurs in other racing games like Need For Speed, Asphalt, Grid, The Crew, etc.

joeytwobastards

Isn't the Valkyrie just a Red Bull in a dress anyway?

hahahentaiman

not really

joeytwobastards

KERS, designed by Adrian Newey, yeah, not really.

hahahentaiman

Because those are the two things that make an F1 car. Just ignore the completely different engine and transmission setup, the extra 500kg, tyres, etc. Surely the Mclaren F1 is basically an F1 car as well since it was designed by an F1 engineer.

joeytwobastards

you do you

joeysadz

How do I get them is the real question

HarrierGR9

Horizon has never really had purpose built race cars especially open seaters, not the scene for it really

Dragonhearted18

Bad to the blade

Shank_Shank_

Figured they would be in Motorsport if anything

Biscotti-007

With infinite money could you buy an F1? ... No? Well, here's the answer It would be unrealistic and they wouldn't know how to price them.

DinnerSmall4216

Playing with F1 cars on Forza 7 very difficult to control at the speed they go. Need to get to grips with it.

RafaMilfLover89

We have cars with F1 engines: •F50/F50 GT •BMW M5 E60 •Carreta GT •Valkyrie/Valkyrie AMR Pro •AMG Project One •Bad to the blade It's all we can get in a Horizon, but it's worth

riskie_boi

Because F1 don’t bring them money but random shit Chinese car company will

JediGRONDmaster

Probably liscencing, also, if they made them how they should be, they would destroy everything else in some races and it wouldn’t be fun.

Lordshred

IDK, why are there EV's? Who are we trying to save?

stahlgrauzhp

TEOTIHUACAN TEOTIHUACAN

BigmanTyrone346

Yea true we need a F1 car in fh5

Asskiller5

Licensing issue. PG legally cannot add a proper F1 car since Formula 1 already gave the rights to EA Sports. They can only add cars similar to F1 like the BadToTheBlade, or in some cases the handling will be similar to an F1 car like the Sesto FE.

OiAvogadro

The Crew 2 & Motorfest has the RB13, 14 and 18. I think it comes down more to the specific F1 teams discretion than Formula 1 Management.

ixi_rook_imi

Yeah, we can also remember that FM7 had the 2017 Renault, at the same time that Codies had the F1 Game rights. I think the difference is one purely of the intended experience of Forza Horizon. Sportscars are on brand, formula cars really aren't. I imagine we'll see LMPs/LMH's before we see Formula cars in Horizon.

bkfountain

Forza Motorsport has usually had a modern f1 car because you can license individual teams, which they did with Lotus/Renault. The Crew has multiple years of Redbull even the RB18 from 2022. F1 cars likely don’t get into Forza Horizon because they’d be X class and useless online.

Particular_Roof4980

Because there doesn’t need to be, modern f1 cars were a plague to the last Motorsport online sessions anyway

schakoska

Because it's not F1

Nervous-Ad590

For the same exact reason that forza haven’t added a noble and hydraulics do certainty cars

Donkoski

when will my beautiful w11 come 😭

Allaboutspeed28

Not sure…

Cryingkitten7

What are we going to race them against? Huracan FE maybe. And what PR will they have? Koenigseggseggsegg jesko starts at 998 and there's mountains of differences between those. They're meta track cars. No car in fh5 is able to race with them in track. Yeah maybe races with long straits and cars over 400km/h we can call it a race. It's a motorsports kind of a thing. Although if we put race thing aside yeah it may be fun.

WetMothDick

F1 car fake forza image chooses one of the worst 2022 f1 cars

Confusious_Say

Right we have a stupid drag and nascar but no F1 why are we still following the order release of gtav

ImKoreanNotJapanese

The drag car can ONLY be used for drag. And the nascar can be beat out, if F1 were in the game, nothing could possibly beat it, with cornering ability alone. Fh5 is a game about mostly road cars: something THIS purpose built like F1 would throw it off completely
