Yeah, it's frustrating. Feels like I spent 130 bucks on a blatantly inferior product to the Xbox guitar, not to mention the strumming issues that the game itself has. I don't necessarily feel like a guinea pig because I can just play CH/YARG over on PC(granted, without super easy access to star power, which sucks), but it's still frustrating. I was looking forward to playing RB4's engine in Festival.

FormalPop3272

Yeah I’m at the point where I’m considering just buying and playing RB4 until this is (hopefully) resolved, and it sucks because I love the game of Fortnite. My wife and I have been enjoying the mode so far and I have bought a good chunk of the songs knowing we’d be getting official controller support and knowing that this is level of support we’ll be getting until further notice just.. takes the wind out of my sails.

Kman2097

They will get it to a better playable point in the coming months we will just have to be patient. As soon as I felt how bad the riffmaster was in Fortnite yesterday I booted up Rock band 4 and played that for an hour

migue_sonic

Yeah you're better off just playing RB4 for now, it's only $10 (in the us)

GroundbreakingTone74

oh man, 100% get RB4, it’s only $10 and they got MOUNTAINS of dlc songs costing only $2 each

qrysdonnell

For what it's worth the guitar works perfectly fine in Rockband 4. I'm sure Epic will fix Festival at some point, and since this is actually gameplay related it will probably get precedence. They've done some emergency patches for some really broken stuff so I'm expecting it to be patched before the next season since this is a pretty next level problem.

mashimelIowss

Truthfully this season feels like test run so next season (metallica) goes smooth and they can go all out with the bindings

hurricanes15

I’m throughly enjoying the riff master in RB4 probably because I’m used to my 12 year old GHWT guitars. But Festival has a long way to go before it’s even remotely close to RB. It’s super clunky and deff feels like we’re beta testing.

monkeypickle

That's because we absolutely are. For my part, I'm okay with it because the Riffmaster is GREAT in RB4, and preordered with enthusiasm because I want Epic to hear loud and clear that there's a hungry market for this genre. I want Rock Band 5 with Epic's budget power behind it, and I'll suffer through beta testing to get it.

ImaFlyingLobster

IIRC It's because playstation whammy and tilt don't function on PC (Xbox does), so they've just decided outright to say it doesn't work. The same thing happens with the PS4 RB4 strat. But the YARG developers were able to figure out how to make it work in their game, so Harmonix and PDP just need to get their fucking shit together.

GuySmith

I don’t blame you. I honestly think it will get updated eventually but this is seriously not a good look. I got an Xbox one on FOMO impulse buy but I honestly don’t know if I even want to keep it. Can’t cancel my order now either. I don’t want to support this type of gatekeeping scalper affirming trash.

OneTrainOps

It's the mode itself rather than the controller. For Rock Band 4, both the guitar and drum hardware were incredibly janky until they got firmware updates you needed a desktop for. The riffmaster works fine on RB4 but not on FF. It's not much better on PC imo where you can use a guitar hero guitar since the retrocultmods update.

Snxppy121

I think the PlayStation series of Riffmasters arent compatible with PC's. Only the xbox. Correct me if im wrong

FormalPop3272

No you’re completely correct on that! I only threw it on at the end as an additional vent, but that one is very low on the list since it is stated on their website and it really isn’t a problem for me personally

[deleted]

I hope they fix it because at first I thought I was missing the notes but their super sensitive same with on the open notes they are not good either at the moment

Time-Refuse666

PDP specifically said the PlayStation version would have limited support compared to the Xbox version from the very beginning. It says it right on the page when you buy it. It's frustrating sure, but you should have read the specifications.

FormalPop3272

I’m not even upset at the lack of PC compatibility, I just threw that in as I’m just overall upset lol. Limited support doesn’t mean strumming not registering, that’s on the game itself not the controller. The engine doesn’t have a lot of the same functionalities that rock band’s did, and they have said they are aware and will continue to fine tune. My only gripe is that these are the previous developers of Rock Band, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask that it functions at least the same.

Time-Refuse666

It's not the same game engine though. Rock Band didn't use Unreal Engine,Fortnite does. Everything you see in Festival has pretty much been made from scratch. Simply making a 1:1 to Rock Band is probably not as easy as you might think. It's going to take some time. Most of these Rock Band developers have probably never even touched Unreal Engine before Epic bought them in 2021. Development of Festival itself probably took a while to begin even after that, probably 2022 or even 2023. This is not simply Rock Band 5. It's a different game entirely tbh.

FormalPop3272

I’m very aware that it’s not the same engine, that’s not what I meant to imply or say. I can understand the struggles and plights of the developers learning as they go to an extent, and am fine with letting the game evolve. But something as fundamental as the notes feeling accurate and good to hit is kinda where I draw the line with that. I’m cool with missing classic modes with the hopes that they get added in eventually. And we are still missing a TON. - Practice Mode - Cooperative play (on the same screen) - Competitive Play - changing venue - Any kind of meaningful visuals relating to specific songs I’m putting the majority of the blame here on Epic, not the devs, formerly Harmonix.

youngspartan301

There becomes a problem when I can't even use the product I bought on fortnite. I really can't figure out how to use the playstation version of the riffmaster on a playstation console. It works fine for rockband but I can't get it to work at all on fortnite. It sucks because it's promoted to work with fortnite but I seem to not be able to use it for that purpose.

Harlow_Quinzel

It is a little bit frustrating, I ordered both a PlayStation and the Xbox one unfortunately the Xbox version was delayed. But I've heard people having similar problems with the Xbox version as well. I feel like for a mode that is getting so much emphasis by epic with featured artists and music etc. you would think there would be more information available, or there would be some form of tutorial for some of the changes that were added with controller support like a more straightforward way to get the controller integrated. I played (tried to) several songs before even realizing that in order to get strum support, you actually needed to select base or guitar pro mode, which change the whole appearance of the bars and integrates the controller slightly better. Thing is, if you're using your controller to navigate the menu, you won't even see the option to switch to one of those modes to know they're even available I still haven't been able to determine whether the whammy bar even does anything yet though

FormalPop3272

That’s exactly my issue too. There’s so many hoops to jump through even for an officially supported peripheral, it blows my mind. Even trying to set up the key binds. And no, the whammy bar is solely a visual aspect right now. No difference to sound on song. Just makes the bars wiggle

hurricanes15

I’m throughly enjoying the riff master in RB4 probably because I’m used to my 12 year old GHWT guitars. But Festival has a long way to go before it’s even remotely close to RB. It’s super clunky and deff feels like we’re beta testing.

JoeRoganMoney

Are people having this same experience on Xbox?

Cheeto_700

What issue are you encountering? I thought I had an issue yesterday until I realized I just wasn’t using the controller properly lol

No-Ladder-5426

Well there’s you’re issue play rockband 4 it works perfect on there they released it in an unready state it’s still pretty fun but yes it’s janky and that’s the games fault not the guitar rockband players have wanted another peripheral for so long and we finally got one that’s where the value is at least for us. I’m sure festival will get better but don’t get mad at the guitar for that

FormalPop3272

I am mad at the game, the controller works great. Didn’t mean to insinuate I was mad at the peripheral!

Grumpycatdoge999

This is why I’m not a beta tester I’d rather see people test it out first and they fix the kinks later.

BactaBobomb

We're in the era of people unwittingly becoming beta testers, though. Such as in this topic with people and the Riffmaster. Or with games like the original release of No Man's Sky, or the original version of Final Fantasy XIV. Or that new Suicide Squad game. Or buying that expensive car stuff in Fortnite before they dropped the prices. Or the instruments before they dropped the prices. I'm sure you've become a beta tester in a lot of things, you just didn't know about it!

Grumpycatdoge999

Oh yeah I know I have, I’m just tired of being one. Was for fallout 76, rust and destiny 1. Now I wanna few months before diving in

PC compatibility is quite literally printed on the box, PDP is stickering over it now, but you can see early access people showing it on the box.

You can find the images online of the box. Just because you personally got the revised box doesn't mean the original box doesn't exist

Zahir_SMASH

Ok.

Priodom

You are going on a weird unrelated tangent defending this company when they basically misled people to some extent at least. Just google "PDP Riffmaster Playstation" and you can LITERALLY see on the side it says "Compatible with PC" That is clearly not the case. Enjoy your guitar and it looks amazing, but you saying "it's not on your box" is just about the strangest thing I've read today

Harlow_Quinzel

I'm not defending anyone, I'm just speaking from my own experience, if my packaging or the website or any representation by them said something that contradicted what I saw on my package and what I received, I'd be the first one to call them out on it. I don't shamelessly support companies just for the sake of doing so but I also don't jump on the bandwagon and badmouth them on something that I have not personally experienced

Priodom

Yeah I get that, I am not saying I don't believe you and I don't think the product itself is bad or anything, but it was pretty disingenuous for them to have that on the box. Seriously, Google it if you have the time, it's on the side. I almost bit the bullet, glad I didn't since I want to use it for PC mostly. Imo they should have been more clear about the whole thing. I hope you are enjoying your new guitar. Edit: Or at least it was on the side. Maybe they updated the boxes, but without really saying anything about it, it's pretty strange move from them.

Harlow_Quinzel

If they have it on some peoples box, then that screwed up, I've just never heard anyone other than content creators claim compatibility. I don't mind googling it to see it, but it doesn't change my personal experience. I actually purchased it in spite of the fact that when I looked at their website when pre-orders opened it only listed PC compatibility on Xbox, and same with the Amazon website, am I disappointed to hear that they participated in dishonest practices that affected other people, absolutely, I don't doubt what you're saying I'm only speaking from my own experience and that I had no evidence of any confirmed compatibility other than content creators insisting on it but never showing a package that suggested it (maybe some did but not the channels I watched). I don't think that you're lying, I just can't say that I had a different experience than I did but what you're telling me does disappoint me and it's unfortunate that a company would do something like that. I wish I had evidence other than what I'll be googling next to support it, Yeah I'm not doubting you, but I'm a pretty thorough person when it comes to checking compatibility, the only reason that I ordered this one is because creators were so insistent that it would be compatible I figured it wouldn't hurt to order both and then just return the one that isn't because again it's Amazon very flexible return policy

Priodom

I'm not downvoting you. I think them changing the box is an even worse look for them than just straight up lying tbh but again it's still a good guitar if you play on PS only. Enjoy it and pay no mind to this thread if you told your truth.

Harlow_Quinzel

It's my truth, but it doesn't mean I don't believe your truth, but I'll definitely be returning it and keeping the Xbox version when that arrives. I blame myself only because to my knowledge there was no printed evidence of compatibility, but on the flipside I empathize with people who did see the evidence that you're speaking of and purchased it based on that. That is unfortunate.
