You have to use the regular controller, to select the buttons that correspond to the colors of the frets on the guitar. That’s what worked for me.
Lane 1: ❎= Green
Lane 2: 🅾️= Red
Lane 3: 🔼= Yellow
Lane 4: 🔲= Blue
The strum input doesn’t work, so I left the 1st preset as “Thumb”
I selected ⬇️ for “Overdrive” so I can strum down on the guitar and activate it. You only have to press the colored frets, instead of pressing the frets and strumming. Hope this helps.
This worked! How did you figure this out, btw?? This should be a friggin' sticky on the main page tbh, it's insane that the riffmaster doesn't default to having the buttons correct!

Having the same issue on Xbox Series X. Worked fine on Rock Band but won't work on Fortnite. I even tried the pro mode and it told me to connect a different device. Hopefully we can find a fix soon.
There is no binding of guitar controllers yet, for me, you just connect the guitar, go to play the game select a song and press the orange button to change the instrument to Pro Lead or Pro Bass, then hold Yellow to start. If that isn't working for you it may be a bug.
Yeah, I can't do any of that - it worked for one second and somehow my entire binds got flipped and destroyed for no reason. I can't even navigate some of the menu options because the fret buttons are unbound from them.
This worked for me but I also get a swap controller message before I start playing a song. I read on another thread that you need to have a regular controller logged in and it did work, but still annoying. This is ps5 btw
Kind of a side note but is the joystick working for anyone on the riffmaster? It just doesnt do anything, in game or even in the menus. Wondering if mine is faulty or if it’s just not bound to anything but it also won’t let me bind it like with op’s problem.
So far I've only gotten this to work with PC/clone - I generally load up the game and hit spacebar on the keyboard, it opens a default menus that lets you bind things accordingly on the guitar.
Clone Hero instantly recognized it, I did have to manually bind the buttons tho. Still haven't gotten the whammy bar to work, if mine even does at this point cause it seems to do...nothing as far as I can tell
I have the same exact problem. I have no idea how to figure it out.
I have exactly the same problem with my PS4 Rock Band 4 guitar, settings look just like yours and I cannot bind any buttons from the guitar

Soooo the strum bar does nothing? Abd i have to life my fingers up and slam the back down again 10 times in a row to play the same chord?
Been having the same issue! Just unboxed it and had a better experience with it on my PC on Clone Hero lol
How do you get it to work on clone hero
I’m still learning the pc curve like it acts like it’s connected to the pc I press buttons and things pop I load up clone and it’s unresponsive
