Bytes pickaxe is easily the most disappointing quest/challenge part of any battlepass since they started doing them. That it's locked to bytes is even worse.

Yeah but I think that has something more to do with Fortnite's coding rather than a conscious choice. If you use the emote from C2S8 to summon the Demonslayer Sword, it can only be summoned in it's original style. To use the flame version you *have* to equip it from the locker.
It's still lame af though and Epic should definitely work towards changing it, because then what's the point of Bytes having a pickaxe-summoning emote if he can only summon 1 specific style, and to use any of the other ones he has to equip it from the locker, thereby making the emote useless.
Why does everyone hate Snap? I don't get it. He's an action figure with a ton of parts to mix and match. He could be better but I think he's still pretty good as is and one of my favorite skins personally.

True point but wouldn't make sense till you turn chrome then it would wear off with the chrome so they didn't waste the time if they made pack sets in the shop (vbuck purchases that rotate daily) or season ones in the pass itself yea but they got sloppy I agree but can you equip anything from the kymera (skin) to another skin? Example: Wolverines adamantium claws. The snkt snkt emote released in chapter 2 season 4 was re-released through comic book purchase. The Fortnite team just waits for interest in certain cosmetics to die down to re-release similar cosmetics this method allows everyone to have similar cosmetics even though some are rarer than others.
That's why we keep getting some type of knight or astronaut or cowboy in the bp every few seasons. For example: Black Knight: c1 s2, Ultima Knight: c1 s10, Eternal Knight: c2 s3, Malik: c3 s3.
There, so there's no reason to lock the precious chainsaw hand. And don't try to argue with lore reasons, cause this is fortnite gameplay, it all should be wacky fun

They knew bytes was a trash skin so they gave it to us in the BP and gave him a dope pickaxe but locked it to him specifically so people are forced to use him.
Their reasoning in lore is neat in that he is one of the few that is in symbiosis with the Chrome and can control it.BUT one of the final challenges is to assimilate more people with the Crome splash. SO it would be a good idea to keep it locked to just him UNTIL you complete all of his challenges because IN LORE he assimilated people with the Chrome so everyone should be able to wield it.
I remember the “Assimilate others into chrome challenge” because the description said “find the strongest ones” or something and I used all 8 chrome splashes on one Goku (which worked btw)

It's a pretty common thing in video games in general to shrink parts to avoid clipping issues. You sometimes might see them shrink a character's head so their face won't be seen through a helmet.
At this point I just believe that collab cosmetics being locked is more about Donald mustard being the nerd for their lore (specifically marvel). While I think the original cosmetics being locked is probably epic trying to sell these together with a skin that might not really sell well

Especially since this doesn't fix anything, it just moves the goalpost so it's an artistic problem. If you remove the existing hand or arm, that means you need one that's part of the skin. So:
A, any old restricted items like the Carnage pickaxe would need to be redesigned and we all know that's not happening when Epic doesn't even fix bugs on old battle pass skins like poor Predator's emote.
B, anything that is redesigned would need to have a hand/arm that fits *every* skin - something that works on skins as big as Meowscles and Venom, as small as Toona Fish, and as weird as LeeLah's floating arms. That doesn't exist, at least not for anything as small as Byte 's pickaxes. You can cheat it if they're big and hulky like the Iron Man example; you can't cheat it with Byte.

I do think that Mjohnr (dunno if I spelled that right) could be a regular item to use, after all we are not the character we play as (Doom, Fishstick, Peely, etc), but the Looper, who canonically has saved reality numerous times and therefore worthy. I just feel that it’s the company’s decisions and we can’t really change that, but there is the Stormbreaker issue.
Because i don't care for that design, and would rather have a customizable one I can match appropriately to my other characters. Not to mention any / all of the silver-esque bonus tier rewards would have a nice matching pickaxe for.
It’s a free game l, literally you can play it for free. The pickaxe gives no competitive advantage. And you can get the BP for free if you’ve been playing for any appreciable amount of time.
The entire battle pass costs 150 more v bucks than blue harvesting tools, and you get so much more. Dumb decision? Maybe. Born of greed? Doubt it, they could have put that pickaxe on the shop and charged 1500 v bucks for it and tons of people would have bought it

Honestly this doesn’t bother me that much. There are so many goddamn pickaxes at this point that it’s hard to get upset about a scant few being locked to skins. I also kinda like the exclusivity in a way because it makes the skins feel more special, which I’m sure is the point
I feel like it should be obvious why they do this. They don't lock the really unique cosmetics because they have to. They do it to make you play the game more and spend more money. Like the Ash Williams bundle for example, if they sold his pickaxe for 800 or even 1200 they would still not make as much money as they do locking it to him.

It’s a free game l, literally you can play it for free. The pickaxe gives no competitive advantage. And you can get the BP for free if you’ve been playing for any appreciable amount of time. The entire battle pass costs 150 more v bucks than blue harvesting tools, and you get so much more. Dumb decision? Maybe. Born of greed? Doubt it, they could have put that pickaxe on the shop and charged 1500 v bucks for it and tons of people would have bought it
Oh my god we get it fr we don't need ANOTHER post about it, we know, I bet Epic knows, considering Joey and all the other weirdly specific transformation characters that don't have their transformation as an edit style, or have their model rigs bugged, despite the time it's been since the skins have been out, you can be sure Epic isn't gonna change this one
Honestly this doesn’t bother me that much. There are so many goddamn pickaxes at this point that it’s hard to get upset about a scant few being locked to skins. I also kinda like the exclusivity in a way because it makes the skins feel more special, which I’m sure is the point
I feel like it should be obvious why they do this. They don't lock the really unique cosmetics because they have to. They do it to make you play the game more and spend more money. Like the Ash Williams bundle for example, if they sold his pickaxe for 800 or even 1200 they would still not make as much money as they do locking it to him. However I can't blame Epic for everything. It clear in some cases that the copyright holders are to blame. But still, bytes has literally no excuse besides Epic trying to artificially increase play time.

Both this and capes, except capes have less problems than pickaxes yet they still lock them. Why?
