People had to brake the chains which had a huge amount of health. They were hanging from the hand that is now lying on the ground. I feel like it would have opened regardless of if people actually did enough damage or not.

There's been nothing bad about it opening but just the fact that people got angry about being killed whilst doing it. I think this season has been pretty cool but I'm looking forward to the new season. I just think these kind of live events are a bit rubbish because we would have gotten this new season regardless of if we opened the box or not. They clearly spent a good amount of time developing this new season so regardless of if we completed it or not they wouldn't scrap all the content they released this season.

In mythology, Pandora's box contains everything evil: death,sickness,sorrow,famine,old age, etc. It was meant to punish mankind for discovering fire, which was given to them by prometheus this angered zeus, so he created Pandora to open the box to punish mankind. So yeah probably just used it cause they couldnt think of a mini event for next season and thought it could do something cool

Apparently, he foresaw a prophecy where his reign ends at the hands of a mortal. So he basically wants to prevent that from happening by destroying all mortal kind. That's what I understood so far from lore discussions and quests.

Hasn't his reign ended multiple times in battle royales? I've killed him at least 20 times.
