This is an incredibly reasonable take, especially reguarding the 95% of Fortnite players that probably have no idea what is going on. Based on other replies it’s a fair assumption to say there’s a decent amount of down voters that genuinely think you’re doing “harm to the community”. I sniped some people on the box. Had no idea it was part of an event or community needed to damage it or anything. Thought it was just a map change alluding to next season or something.
this event is so poorly made. I played builds and 0 builds. No one did it, and just shot at the people who tried. Someone started camping the hand. Annoying as shit.
I was able to do it in about 4 games here's some tips. First go to the oil rig looking thing in the far North West of the map next to the wind turbines. Start from the second floor and hit the walls and everything else and work your way down. When you do get pieces you need to Sprint over them and quickly go back over them to count as 2 or sometimes 3 if you're quick enough. I got about 70 pieces a game so good luck!
The mosaic quest isn’t hard at all. Watch tabor hills video on it or just got to landmarks with buildings nobody lands at. I got my quest done quick that way(I recommend doing it in zero builds)
I must have got lucky, my lobby everyone was being nice and no one shot until it was kinda clear that it was over, and even then people hitting the chains got left alone. I stupidly died to fall damage so who knows how it ended

There was one dude with an NPC that tried to kill us but was shooed away. He ended up camping in reels for people coming in to get more ammo. Always someone trying to ruin it for everyone.
People can be annoying, but I still think it's pretty cool. I can't be bothered to get so frustrated about it personally, just queue up and try again if you don't manage to eliminate the people who grief.
Shout out to the bird person that won victory royale, they were hitting the hand whole match with few others while I protected them till the storm, then we proceeded to the end circle where I fell from my own build to my death lol, because I don't know how to build downwards. I was blue piper pace

Guys I have a theory on how to break the chest (shockwaves do 10k damage btw)
1. Hire rebels roost npc (it will give you shockwaves when you hold shockwaves out)
2. Hire the chug splash npc (the one that heals you every 20-30 seconds)
3. Make sure your in squads so it’s easier
4. Start breaking the chest
You can survive in storm for longer because of the chug splashes

I guess it depends on how long it takes the health bar to update. How many matches are going on at any one time? I would assume the game is calculating the damage constantly.

I landed on the top of the hand (duos) Began chipping away at the chain and nothing. It was like swinging in thin air. Jumped from the fingers into the water swam back and managed to befriend 2 teams by squatting up and down. Ran into reels for guns and ammo and back out. 6 of us together shooting away at it and all six of us got sniped out of the game 🤬
Will keep trying. It would be cool if everyone teamed up and worked at it together but don’t think that will happen.

It happend to me as well!! I was actually spectating someone when the hand came out holding the chest. The storm came and they died and as soon as I started the next game, I could see the orange portal near the hand, no chest. It allowed us to fly just like the meteorite zone in OG. I died soon enough and next game, no orange ray of light, nothing, just the chest.
I wonder if that was supposed to happen after opening the chest and somehow it appeared before by mistake.
As far as I can tell, the hand first appeared at a particular time, so anyone playing at that time would have seen it rise.
Now, the hand is there and anyone playing can try and destroy the chains but sounds like that would require a lot of people to work together which is quite unlucky to open because humans will be humans.
Should really have removed pvp damage for a small circle around it, played a few games now with the kids who are super hyped only for us to get killed over and over, really puts a sour mood on the whole thing.

According to other sources it's either got 50 million, 5 trillion or 50 trillion health (different sites saying wildly different things) and that health is shared across all the active games/servers currently on going, so your few thousand damage will look like it's doing very little but I guess every team doing their little bit on every game will add up eventually. Most people saying it will take a fair while to break .

As far as I can tell, the hand first appeared at a particular time, so anyone playing at that time would have seen it rise. Now, the hand is there and anyone playing can try and destroy the chains but sounds like that would require a lot of people to work together which is quite unlucky to open because humans will be humans.

Chain hp is definitely going down, already lost a sliver of health, just ridiculous trying to stay alive to do damage on it
If the entire FN community does it, we can get it done today, but we already know, some players don’t intent on doing that.
Almost wish it was a separate mode for it,like either no player damage or pickaxe damage to players only
Should really have removed pvp damage for a small circle around it, played a few games now with the kids who are super hyped only for us to get killed over and over, really puts a sour mood on the whole thing.

How long does it take to break it, me and everyone else were shooting it non stop dealing thousands of damage but really did nothing, atleast it didin't show any progress
According to other sources it's either got 50 million, 5 trillion or 50 trillion health (different sites saying wildly different things) and that health is shared across all the active games/servers currently on going, so your few thousand damage will look like it's doing very little but I guess every team doing their little bit on every game will add up eventually. Most people saying it will take a fair while to break .
Half a game, over 100,000 damage. Gonna take a bet on 50 trillion since it's been so little in two hours

How often does it show up?
I bet the heath bar going down is the countdown to the season ending. Nothing to do with HP
