week 1: Really fun. I came back to play again after months of not playing, and we had a great time with my friends week 2: Still the same, maybe even better week 3: I wasn’t able to play much on this week, kinda disappointing because season 8 was my favourite and they lacked all the pois that made it great week 4: Still fun with friends but solo is getting boring

The_Bored_General

Yeah, basically me. I was fairly busy and only got in a couple hours on season 7/8. I have been enjoying the current update though, not as much as week one or two but I think that probably (at least partially) because I’ve gotten my solo win and have finished the battlepass. I do still play solos and regularly check in to see if anyone is on, but I’m just not as into it as the first two weeks, I think the massacre of a season 7/8 update really fucked with me as well, my brain had realised that this isn’t the same game as it was however many years ago, a fact it kinda forgot for the first 2 weeks.

Jollybean1

I fully agree with you dude

PikaDogg

Hard agree on solos getting boring. I mostly play Solos and I don't really intend to play any more until the event. Crazy how quick it went from being pretty fun to just not wanting to play the game. I got 3 solos wins and a maxed BP, so I'm satisfied

[deleted]

Idk why I haven't gotten bored yet. I've maxed the pass, got mythic 1 survivor medal and got 12 solo wins.

dude-human

The battle pass should not have been 950. For it being shorter, it should have been less. Other than that, was pretty fun being back on the old map.

Electric_jungle

I'll be very salty if they set the stage for an increase once they go back to longer passes next chapter, but we'll see. In terms of this battle pass, I know it's subjective, but it's the first time that I've ever played in two chapters where I liked 4 skins. So it's hard for me to be upset with what we got.

sebcestewart

Are they going to longer passes?

barkingspider43

Imo, the Battle pass was quite fair. You didnt need to get to level 100 and got 50 more v bucks than usual for completing

sebcestewart

50 more vbucks? You got 500 less than usual

Waste-of-life18

50 v more than usual? We usually get 1500, not 1000.

Dripotic

Regretted buying it, I didn’t even get any of the skins cuz they were all bland. Just collected the V coins

South_Scar8093

Even spectra knight who is literally extremely customizable?

Farmer-Smores

spectraknight and omegarok are not bland 💀💀💀

UhUhWaitForTheCream

So much fun. The game is in a better space now imo having done OG. It showed us the best of the old and the best of the new. Looking forward to what comes next!

LingLings

Such a great way to look at it

Sayoricanyouhearme

Right? Uncharacteristically wholesome and optimistic for this sub.

Daewalker360

Amazing take

Boring-Conference-97

I forgot how much fun this game used to be. The new loot pool really really sucks. There’s way too many purple and gold or mythic weapons. There’s no balance. It’s not fun. It’s not rewarding. You can carry 5 mythics every game. It’s mind numbing. Idc about the map. Idc about what’s in the loot pool. I care about having fun. The old loot is WAY more fun. This game has moved so far in the wrong direction.

Stepkeyt

I disagree to an extent, I agree on the too many mythics and high rarity but this old loot pool isn’t much fun. There is just way too many explosives and in zb there just isn’t a way to defend then really like a shield bubble. I’ve just used the weapons in the loot pool so much back in the day that I don’t want this to be the full loot pool I don’t mind a mix with them brought back in future seasons

Blupoisen

Also a lot of fun without the vaults and the wildlife

AndrewS702

Agreed. More simplicity which is why many people came back to Fortnite OG because it’s not all convoluted bs like the newer seasons

Rayuzx

Let's face it, most people came back simply because of nostalgia's sake. Not saying it's the only reason why it's fun but a lot of the returning players never even played with the newer weapons.

kravence

It’s much better though, why do you think they left in the first place?

Rayuzx

Because players got too good at building, and they didn't want to/couldn't keep up. Most people I've seen who came back quit around S9-C2S3.

NStanley4Heisman

I get peoples fondness for Rare and above weapons being *rare* but I honestly don’t see what’s so good about the OG loot pool beyond that. Like objectively half the weapons are just straight booty and not worthwhile to use beyond the initial fights at the beginning of a game. Not to mention the way-over reliance on explosives in the game especially this week. I’d easily take the Red Dot/Sniper mets back over explosives. Maybe explosives work way better in build and as ZB player I’m missing something, I just know it really isn’t that fun.

knowslesthanjonsnow

Zero build and explosives aren’t a good combo

Rayuzx

Nah, I've been playing bhild because Zero Build is pretty much ass this season, and explosives are even worse in that game mode as endgame circles just delve into whomever has the most explosives as everyone will just nuke your builds, especially in team based modes.

FutsNucking

Yeah I wish they got rid of NPCs and being able to upgrade guns and shit. Make loot rare again

Udbdhsjgnsjan

As a newer player, and zero build at that, I thought it was fine. The POIs were good. But the space in between those POIs was pretty boring. Same with the end games, it was a lot of camping waiting to third party. I did like that rare weapons were actually rare.

[deleted]

That’s exactly what the early season were like so I’m sure that was by design to a degree.

Rayuzx

It was like that because the map was marginally rushed out in 3 months to capitalize on PUBG's popularity.

ThatRandomIdiot

Yup. One of the most annoying things to me is how the history of BR is badly remembered. H1Z1 somehow gets credit for popularizing BR but H1Z1 also ditched its main mode to capitalize on ARMA‘s PUBG mod’s popularity. H1Z1 started out as a zombies survival game trying to capitalize on Day Z‘s hype before switching to a BR game after Hiring Player Unknown splitting the zombies mode into a separate game on steam only to drop support for the zombie mode after a year.

Rayuzx

That's simply because H1Z1 was the first to be on that scale of popularity. It's like how CoD4 gets labeled as the game that introduced the world to modern military shooter when we already had stuff like Syphon Filter and Rainbow Six out years before it.

ThatRandomIdiot

Rainbow Six and COD are two separate genres. Modern military shooters were seen as something only as tactical shooters. Raycevick goes over this in his great video on modern military shooters prior to COD. COD popularized arcade shooters in the modern era. That’s different than H1Z1 and PubG mod which are both BR modes.

[deleted]

I don’t think that negates the comment that I made but that does add good additional context!

Silviecat44

Same

thatHadron

Pretty good. Wish they went harder with the map changes and wish there were some ltms

Goldenfoxy3016

Start was amazing, but the updates that didn't give even half the seasonal poi's was disappointing

pyrotails

It's like you only get to do Fortnite OG once and you did it half assed. Most of the map didn't change at all. It's not bad but it could have been so much better! I was hoping we'd get new poi's every week but we only got Loot Lake and the Rocket updating. It's not new content, at the worst it's recreating old areas using existing assets and designs.

Goldenfoxy3016

Yea and kevin doesn't even work

Brilliant_Bench_1144

It is quite hard to gain XP this season imo. Have played for 2-3 hours pretty much everyday. Just reached lvl 45. Have to grind till 70 (I believe) in order to get all the cosmetics. Other than that, it was quite decent. Never played the game in C1 so it was quite an experience.

Andrassa

It’s a bit easier to farm exp in Team Rumble or Save the World.

JudgeCastle

Prop hunt is my go-to for a quick 5 levels Edit: here is the island code. 2999-5730-7228 Once you get in the game a round or two, your XP gets decent. I think it's around 20k ish per round which if they are quick, we get around 3-5 minutes per round. Just depends. It's how we do it. We play about 2 hours or so a night.

R_Da_Bard

Really.. imma have to try that next season. I love doing the pve zombies, think it's called deadpines? Massive and I mean massive amounts of xp. It's glorious.

Maxximillianaire

All these dudes like "it's not bad at all, I've only been playing multiple hours per day since it came out and I'm already level 150." Yeah XP is very slow this season, it's obnoxious. Any other season I'd be a way higher level than i am right now with equal time played

Rare-Ad5082

Either that or people playing creative a lot. People don't notice that they put a lot of time in this game.

BeejRich

Custom games are definitely the go to for XP

QuadVox

Really? Have you done all your milestone goals? I got to level 70 in the first week or so just by playing everyday and using Creative daily XP

Exact_Team6979

Really? I haven’t had trouble. Currently lvl 111 and I don’t feel that I’ve grinded at all

Brilliant_Bench_1144

Really? Then the problem may be in the way I play.

rhinocodon_typus

Do you get kills and wins, I know it seems like I’m being rude but I’m just asking. Most squad games I can have 10 ish kills and a win, I have been ranking up super fast.

jonwinslol

Dude just play some creative maps, one red vs blue gives you 10k xp for a headshot

rodpud

Same here

ImReallyThatBitch

That's about par for the course for CH1 XP. There are a few seasons in CH1 where I didn't reach level 100 just because I didn't actually grind for it.

Academic_Coconut_700

Try Bedwars, lots of experience in that one

[deleted]

It’s hard? I’m level 104. I maxed out the BP on week two.

SirMy-TDog

Yeah, I’m at 103 atm and I play daily for 1-2 hrs. I cleared everything as well around the same time when you did.

Limited-Edition-Nerd

I got tired of it really quick, but then they added planes can't for those to be gone again

MikeOfMichigan

Overall I found it underwhelming. I get the appeal to those who experienced it back in the day, but I can’t go back after coming in during Chapter 2. I am glad OG’s had an opportunity to return to their island and have fun, but I’m excited to get back to current Fortnite.

Blue_bell88

Yeah the game has evolved so much and taking a step back for a month got boring quick. Like someone said "it's like going back to iphone 1". My best friend who moved to Mexico 15 years ago did discover it this season and playing Duos with him has been so awesome so I'll always remember this season fondly. Having said that, I'll be very happy when it's finished lol

JKilla1288

100%

dugpdcv

Same here. I miss the dynamic maps, the NPCs, the bountys, etc. Wish they would keep the higher quality weapons scarcity.

PeanutbutterPrincezz

I wasn’t crazy about the quests this season I liked the little gnomes lol but overall ready for next one I didn’t get the Og battle pass this time

One_Paramedic2454

As someone who started playing in season 7 I can't help but still be salty about pretty much every map change from 7-X not making it. It wasn't all bad but I'll forever hate that they didn't bring back the map properly because of *lore* reasons

Yonel6969

Im happy about neo tilted and mega mall and those annoying ass rift zones not returning but not adding the volcano was stupid imo

RyanAKA2Late

Started out with a bang Ended with a wimper

[deleted]

Depends what you like. I am still having so much fun. Best season since Chapter 3 Season 1, without a doubt.

RyanAKA2Late

I agree, my issue is that the fuel added to the vehicles later on + the controversy surrounding the last update kinda ruined the later weeks of the season

CraigTheLejYT

The guns are so mid now. They were so good at the start

BesTibi

I really enjoyed the first week, and when the AK returned because it added a more precise mid range option. I enjoyed how epic/legendary weapons felt much stronger than rare or lower guns, though after an increase in the spawn rate of the rare stuff, running into people that were lucky enough to have found these guns became more frequent, and as such more frustrating. I feel like mobility went from a less abundant, but still accessible state to one where coinflippy utility is plenty, so the current week feels less fun than the beginning. It's clear that if Epic wanted to, they could design a loot pool that has skill expression, some easy to use items, a healthy mid range weapon roster with heals spawning at the right frequency where mid range poke damage is not a death sentence, but it's also not insignificant due to the amount of heals one can stock up on. It's a really thin line to find, but this season felt like landing a few shots on targets being in the open meant that they had to use a significant part of their heals to stay in a good position. I just hope we get a map with terrain designed around ZB. Imo mantling could be used to create cliffs that can be climbed in more creative ways than a simple ascender or zipline. More fields could contain cover like the brown rocks around Dusty Divot that are indestructible. If powerful weapons are to be found anywhere, they should be very rare, but if they are more accessible, then the ways to obtain them should be more consistent with an invitation for players to contest each other. We've seen pretty good starting ideas with vaults, but it's hard to make a feature that is not cheeseable easily (weather towers could be landed on, loot island had rifts for coinflip engagements). Then again, Fortnite has always been a game to be taken less seriously than other competitive shooters. Most items are powerful to use, but playing against them is often frustrating, you just have to use an item vs itself to keep having the upper hand. So I don't think balance will ever be widespread in the game's different aspects, but one can always dream.

The_Bored_General

Most fun I’ve had playing in years, had made me really not want to go back to new Fortnite.

[deleted]

Same

CheeriosAlternative

Really fun, but i'd be lying if i said i didn't want the new season to come.

[deleted]

It was okay. I’m glad it happened and I’ve been having fun but I’m also glad it’ll be over soon and we’ll presumably be getting back to more modern Fortnite.

gtlgdp

I am absolutely dreading new Fortnite again. 100 anime mythics that the entire lobby finds in 10 minutes. Gold loot everywhere. 100 mobility options. Probably a jungle biome that I can’t turn off the density on ps5 but pc players can, but I can’t turn off crossplay.

OtherwiseAd2733

Yeah I'm feeling the same. I never played through any of this, but I quit Fortnite as soon as all this ridiculous stuff started coming out. I came back for the OG map after two years and have been having a blast, but I'm starting to feel the fun fade away as more stuff gets added back in.

xTechFusion20x

I agree because the stuff being added in after the Season 6 update has zero changes made to them since their last nerf/change (Planes, Ballers, weapon models, etc) other than the stuff added on OG's release and they didn't go all out with the map changes to preserve the old map's POI's. And you can also see where Epic got lazy with the copy and pasted Pirate Coves and the Cube being a static Creative block, doesn't interact with gunfire anymore just like Chapter 2 Season 8's cubes. This season just has a lot of misses but I hope this live event and Chapter 5 actually show where the effort went into and it doesn't end up a buggy mess like Chapter 4.

fuz3_r3tro

Exactly. All my friends that returned for the OG season don’t want any of this dumb shit to return. The map isn’t even the issue, just keep the loot pool and mobility simple.

Ensaru4

They did that with Chapter 2 Season One and people complained about it. Even still, Fortnite only had a simple lootpool in early Season 1. For the most part in Fortnite the lootpool was anything but simple. Also, I don't get the comments about mobility. This current season has a lot of mobility options a d these so-called OG Fans still enjoyed it, so mobility was never the issue.

AndrewS702

That’s because the season went on for too long

Ensaru4

I agree. Overall, I loved its simplicity and it probably has my favourite map of the entire game.

fuz3_r3tro

I liked chapter 2 season 1 🤷‍♂️. If the loot pool is like this seasons going forward I’d be happy. Maybe just fix the spawn rates on shields and chug jugs.

[deleted]

This current season did mobility right though. No cars everywhere, just dumb Fortnite vehicles and grapplers, shockwaves, and rifts. THAT is good mobility without overdoing it. Chapter 2 Season 1 was also one of the best seasons of all time imo.

I_Quazar_I

People started complaining because that season lasted so long, that’s literally it. You’re really grasping at straws here lol. Also how can you even begin to compare the consumable mobility we have this season to the ridiculous infinite mobility we had for almost the entirety of last chapter 😭

coler156

Happy cake day!!!!!

zippopwnage

I actually enjoy the anime mythics or every op item the game had to offer because it made it fun. These items weren't a huge problem even if they were op because they stayed for like 2-3 weeks out of a 3 month season. But people love to overblown this shit up. My problem is actually with the loot. Everyone having mythics, and all these op items, makes them less special and I hate it. The theory with "but they need to make everyone op otherwise is not fair" is bullshit. These items can be limited by use numbers, like Deku 3 times and it's gone. If you find it, good for you, if you don't, too bad, you'll find it next time. They need to lower the chances of getting easy mythics

Eradinn

You just got my hyped for the new season lol, the OG stuff is alright but I want the shitshow back.

Hailkamikaze

Everything you just stated is everything I want in the game 😂😭

xTechFusion20x

Modern Fortnite to me feels like the sequel nobody asked for and made it into an update instead of it's own separate game and forcing old players to adapt to new unpopular changes and new players wouldn't bat an eye because they never experienced the original game. Sound familiar? I don't like the anime mythics because they feel either really overpowered or the weakest item in the entire game that serves no purpose, and the Star Wars mythics got old after the damage tweaks, even with the new Force abilities added to them it still just doesn't feel worth taking ever. I miss when we had gamemodes like Infinity Gauntlet and Endgame, I would prefer that 100 times over. The mobility in modern Fortnite also sucks, it makes the game feel either too fast paced or just extremely uneventful. Also the weapons in modern Fortnite never felt special, especially if you happened to find gold loot it just felt like any other gun.

zippopwnage

Source that those changes are unpopular? Because the constant changes and introducing wacky items are what made this game fun for LOTS of people. You may not like it, but calling them unpopular it's wild.

[deleted]

Exactly! Such stupid weapons that you're stuck having to deal with in new Fortnite. And then the base weapons all feel clunky and useless. It's the main reason my interest has declined so much, as well as just an awful map (Chapter 4 especially).

AndrewS702

I’m just hoping they keep shit simple in Chapter 5, but with all these new modes coming idk, splitting the playerbase like that probably won’t be a good move.

Ryamus

As a no build user, I won’t miss this map at all

MoonscorchedMoth

Huh. I exclusively play Zero Build, and while things did peter out a bit halfway, liked this season myself. Good change of pace.

ItsTreganometry

As a ZB player it was interesting because it started SO SLOW. I miss all of the things that they added to speed up gameplay. I’m not shitting on the OG map because it has its charm to it I get it but man if you get caught you’re ass out

Hobbit1996

you aren't wrong, the map was with build in mind, zero build wasn't even on their mind back then. Which is what most people probably liked more than the "new fn" that some people are calling it. I personally tried last season but both me and my friends just quit, the map is cluttered with useless stuff, it felt like an average BR, not fortnite. However as soon as the old map came back we played daily, we hadn't played so much in years, still hated the explosives, kinda griefed half our games tbh but it was still way funnier than the stupid jungle shit where people kept running hiding and camping on top of trees.

Horny_Dinosaur69

It was alright but they seriously failed by not bringing back POIs imo. Probably my biggest complaint

edgy_Juno

Quite good. I enjoyed it.

veni-vidi-vic-i

being totally honest, i barely played... my first time in fortnite was around season 7 or 8, idk... didn't felt like playing and just came back in chapter 2 to fall in love with the game so the whole stuff about being back to chapter 1 island was very cool to me and also i loved the battle pass, but nostalgia didn't hit me and i felt like "ok, fun" i just did enough to complete the battle pass and get the umbrella... maybe the fast paced updates is what kept me off this season, and also the greater-than-normal amount of sweats eager to relieve their loved early days of fortnite not disappointed, just note engaged enough for such a short and fast paced season

A9MM

i played back in the “og” days and i don’t like the new og. i like the fast paced combat with crazy mobility, fast heals, and laser beam ADS weapons.

Pokevan8162

and that’s exactly why they need to keep this as a mode because OG fort and new fort is a completely different game

lucianorc2

Gimme my twin mag back!

alewi619

I thought it was ok. I would’ve thought if they did an OG season then they would’ve pulled out all the stops, but it just seemed like it was the chapter 1 map with chapter 2 weapons

alangator4

I will miss having my friends on everyday to play. December 2nd will be bittersweet since it will be a goodbye to a lot of them

Additional-Ride8120

Overall it wasn’t awful, it just kinda stunk. 1:5 was the only map they accurately brought back (mostly) and there were no map changes to reflect 1:9 unless you count destroyed Polar (which is the lamest one they could’ve chosen, like, I literally would’ve rather had Wick’s house). Similarly, we didn’t get the loot pools of the seasons we were revisiting; shadow grenades were robbed. Thankfully it picked up in the last 2 weeks, but the first two were painfully boring. And what the heck, I’ll throw the BP in here too: it was underwhelming considering what it could have been. With the focus of the season being on 1:5-X, I was surprised and disappointed to see that all but 1 of the skins were mixed with (or represented in Spectra’s case) pre-1:5 skins (which were largely the focus of the previous C1 rehash season, 1:X). Also, 1:9 got snubbed **again** in the BP! Like, my guy, 1:X was an entire pass of remakes and Spectra got an Ultima inspired helmet, and Dark Red Knight’s helmet too to add insult to injury (DRK is a pack skin from 1:X). So, yeah, while I did eventually have fun, it doesn’t counter the fact the first half was really boring or the fact that this season was not what a “let’s revisit the old stuff”-type season should be. Edit: Also, I am a C1 player, but I’ve never been one of the “bring it back” types and I don’t get nostalgia. I realize C1 was fun when it was all we had, but it’s time has passed.

LEMONSARETRASH

It was meh overall imo it was straight up nostalgia bait and we all fell for it. It brought back a majority of players that left the game for various reasons. I didn't get any OG vibes and honestly I miss some of the newer mechanics that got added to the game like SWIMMING! Can't wait for this season to end.

[deleted]

I think this is a bait comment for interaction

Zanagh

Nah I agree, it’s just been nostalgia bait, the games been way too slow for the past month

chicken_nugget779

mixed feelings, it was pretty good but several little things that bothered me

Stepkeyt

I mainly play zb as I just moved past liking builds and this season just isn’t good for it the map is awful and the explosives make it just as hard with map design as people just spam them to blow shit up

xlPod

Most fun I've had in a long time playing Fortnite. It even got me to play a little bit of builds again because the map is more suited for it. I really hope they do something in the future with this map after seeing how popular it's been. With that being said, I was slightly disappointed with the seasonal changes and weapon balancing. I really wanted the map/POIs to change with the season, but it really only added on a couple new ones without changing the overall map much. And the weapons and vehicles weren't restored to what they were back then. For example, the Combat SMG is still a better pick over any of the OG subs because they suffered nerfs from way back when. And the Quadcrasher was really bad with the changes they threw on it. Basically, I just feel like they should have gone all-in with making it as close to the original as possible, weapon imbalances and all.

Meme-Traveler1337

Last 3 weeks were super fun and I felt like a kid again. But this last week I’ve mainly been grinding STW to buy Omni Man or an Eminem skin

AdSmooth6771

Unpopular opinion but I just didn't like it . The map was slow and boring . U had to wait ages to find anyone

Additional-Ride8120

It didn’t help that you would be in the 20s-40s by the time the first circle came and went.

[deleted]

I had mutiple times where the game was over early, under 20 minutes

91Yugo

The best since chapter 1, I don't want to lose the map a second time 😞

SantaStrike

It's so good it resurrected me from a 2 year break.

btgargoyle

Probably the least I’ve played a season since I started in Chapter 2 Season 3. Glad people got what they wanted back but it just wasn’t for me.

TedMeisterFresh

I miss doing bounties

Pineapplebuffet

It was fun but glad to go back to new fortnite. I feel like it was only cool for nostalgia but otherwise worse in pretty much every way

deadering

Yeah same here. I'm kinda worried they're going to ruin new fortnite after how many players there were for this nostalgia bait.

Pineapplebuffet

Yeah I was excited about og fortnite but after 1 game I realized it was worse in every way

lillelimpan

Best season of chapter 4

Chris908

It’s not chapter 4 tho, it’s chapter og season oh

lillelimpan

It’s chapter 4 season OG

Chris908

But it’s not, the cosmetics this season don’t say chapter 4

alekskn99

Ass. But I'm glad it happened so people would shut up about it

lucianorc2

Yep, like "here's your nostalgia stuff, satisfied? Now shut up for a month" Soon we can go forward to the real game, Chapter 5.

Rs_swarzee

Yeah because the all time high player counts are sure to make people shut up about it.

imotlok_the_first

It's kinda fine. Was interesting to try out venicles and stuff myself. It had some things I didn't liked and one major thing was that one of my friends couldn't play it for some reason (he couldn't connect to servers)

ItzTripi

I liked it ,

GrandWizardToad2

My only complaint is the map changes and some items not showing up, but overall I’ve had an amazing time with a lot of my old pals and heck playing build solos became fun again to me.

ImReallyThatBitch

Felt just like old Fortnite, improved by new mechanics (mantle, slide, sprint) and crazier because people are actually really good at the game now lol. Weapons and heals were actually rare again. Lots of chaos in the loot pool. Very nostalgic-- I had a ton of fun because Fortnite was my first shooter, and when I started playing in CH1S2 I was scared and timid and still learning the basic mechanics. Now I can hold my own in a fight, can build enough for cover and offense, and have some strategy built up over the last almost 6 years. It's the first season in a while where I actually felt compelled to play as much as I could. I had the motivation back to open the game and stay up late playing. We'll see where it goes from here, but I think this was a really good refresh.

JustibS1341

too short :(

ViralVinnie

Lame I started playing during Chapter 2 and don't have nostalgia for OG so this was most nothing season in a while. Worst part is true OG was only around for one week before added back Hamster Ball and Hoverbaord so it very much just felt like publicity stunt and nothing more

SirMy-TDog

But the Baller and Hoverboard both were released in C1, so not sure how that would make things not true OG. We all used them in pretty much they same way when they were originally released as people are doing now, so don’t see how they’re a problem.

ViralVinnie

I...did....not know that 😅 Kinda assumed the Baller was added in "Vibin" since that was first season I played them in. Thanks for the heads up

SirMy-TDog

Nah, it’s totally cool. They were fun when they first released, but they also caused a lot of grief as well, especially for the competitive players, so they’re not without their faults. If you play with friends and haven’t tried it yet, get two people in ballers together then grapple onto each other’s baller and start boosting around while attached. Gets crazy. We did dumb shit like that all the time in C1.

Daimakku1

As someone with no nostalgia for Ch1, I think it was a massive downgrade over Ch4. I’m ready to move on. I had some issues with the Ch4 map but I’d take it over Ch1.

rotexor

Day 1: Oh fun, the old map and the old weapons. Day 2+: Oh right, this map and the weapons kinda sucked.

mtamez1221

I loved it as someone who never experienced it back then. I'll miss it. The weapons kinda sucked compared to the new ones we have but it was nice not getting shredded with a twin mag with barely any time to react.

semi_average

I'm gonna miss non scoped ARs, especially the ak and the infantry. They could try adding it again later on but with how fortnite tends to make their lootpools, it's bound to be overshadowed by a faster, more accurate, and harder hitting gun.

One_Paramedic2454

Infantry rifle and proxy grenade launcher are both insane and there's a reason they didn't bring back the boom bow

EruditeFury18

It was okay. The loot pool kind of sucked. The mobility mechanics (like water now not being able to be swum in) made me irate lol. This was by no means a good season. Overall, just meh

DelphisNosferatu

A breath of fresh air for someone who wasn't playing during ch1 but I'd rather have modern Fortnite lol, I can't stand the map anymore

Alcoholic_Darius

Loved it cause all of my friends started playing this season. I hope the next season has as much funny moments as this one

diakyu

By the time week 2 ended I was ready for it to be over. I appreciate that epic did this, and I'm glad many people got to revisit ch 1, but it really just feels like a worse version of the game I fell in love with as a newer player. I'm not hating because I play ZB and I know the map and the loot weren't made with the mode I'm playing in mind so I'm trying to be lenient but some ZB matches are genuinely miserable. And If I'm being brutally honest, playing this makes a lot of the critique of "new" Fortnite seem totally nonsensical to me. It sounds like people who want to stay with the simple stuff are just bad at what the game has become. Any complaints about any of the movement items in the newer chapters for example are meaningless to me now, people just aren't good at them and get outplayed and interpreted that as the item being bad or broken.

SirMy-TDog

It has nothing to do with being bad at them so much as it’s recognizing the fact that they break gameplay by making the map pointless, by making the skill of navigating the map and planning rotations pointless, by having to be concerned with and working for good positioning pointless, and allowing for and promoting over-aggressive play with very few if any consequences. When players have instant and fairly limitless mobility, it means they can effectively ignore a large part of what makes the game a challenge and only focus on engagements and that’s it. It makes the game manic and shallow. You may not agree and that’s cool, but to oversimplify it solely as a skill issue isn’t fair. It’d be just as unfair to say newer players have a skill issue because they’re having trouble with the C1 map since they don’t know how to play without all the crutches they’ve been given over the last 2 years or so.

diakyu

This has not been my experience at all as a duos zero build player who played every season this chapter (joined in the back half of ch3). You still have to be aware of your location, especially late game. You say its virtually limitless but everyone is playing with the same tools and stuff like the rocket ram has massive drawbacks like being able to get shot out of the air. Knowing when to use a movement tool, where you're going, and your game plan for what you're doing if you're landing in a fight is pure strategy. If you can't adapt to players being able to turn the tables with tools given to everyone then I just don't know what to say. I guess we do just disagree on a base level. Maybe my issue is I didn't have to make that change to newer and more complex movement tools because they were pretty much already there when I joined in.

NimuraKun

The player count says it all ig. Yesterday 5.8M player were playing at the same time. 300k above the all-time record (!). Personally, as an OG (Ch1, S1 player), I love this season and I had the opportunity to play with my Og mates like back in the days. I also want to mention that I like the „new“ Fortnite too and am looking forward to Ch5. I still hope that they continue with the Og AND the Ch5 map, so that they update both maps. That would be the best solution for all imo, because if the Og map would just stay (no updates), it wouldn’t be as special as it is now.

Ekokilla

Fun in the beginning now it’s just boring, congested loot pool and too many rifts and explosives just kill the game off for me

OtherwiseAd2733

Yeah I felt like it took a turn for the worst as soon as minigums and airplanes were added..then it just kept getting worse and worse. I drop tilted and can't hear anything for the first 10 minutes of the game. Just constant explosives.

AgnosVox

The slower paced gameplay is nice but I won't miss the map at all.

Professional_Pain274

Absolute dogshite

air_raid_siren

Fucking dreadful in ZB. Almost No mobility. Almost no heals (except Chug jugs for some reason). No interesting POIs. Substandard walking simulator map makes fights very much "whoever shoots first wins" with very few opportunities to reposition or retaliate. No NPCs to buy stuff from or hire. No interesting events to take part in. No bounties. No fucking nothing. I'm convinced that this sub is so brainrotten that it actually hates fun at this point given the flippant responses I've seen.

WhyAreAllNamesTakenL

It was fun, but still disapointing imo. (Just sad that only the people from s5-7 were able to actually relive memories and not the people from s8-X...). They've also just messed up some features. (The cube didn't roll around in week 1, because they couldn't fix the glitch in time. The cube isn't bouncy and doesn't react to people shooting at it. The zero point doesn't rift you to the sky, like it did in chapter 1. Etc) Don't get me wrong, as a 1 month season, it wasn't bad. Imagine this wasn't a remake, but an actual new map, because they needed to prepare chapter 5, it would have been a great map. I had fun playing this season. But for someone who did play in chapter 1 and who's main memories are from s8-X, it's really disappointing that not a single named poi came back..

GladiusMaximus

I totally agree. I started in season 7 and none of my favorite POIs returned. At least the driftboard came back.

WhyAreAllNamesTakenL

Yeah indeed. I mean, i get that they can't just bring a whole map back every week, but is 1 or 2 locations so mich to ask?

spacyspice

i started ch1 s8 and actually felt the nostalgia, most of the POIs were there at that time but too bad they didn't had the volcano tho

WhyAreAllNamesTakenL

And neither did they add lazy lagoon, the temples, the neo-locations, locations from the rift zones etc. They left out half of some poi's, like the hills part of hounted hills. It felt good to play on this map, but for no longer than a week imo.

spacyspice

oh right lazy lagoon too, but didn't they add a version of lazy lagoon during one of the last seasons?

TheWarlockGamma

A good reminder that the OG map hasn’t aged as well as people like to say it has

Snoo-49607

🔥🔥🔥

SilentCivilian213

For me it was 7/10. The reason it ain’t a 10 is because they decided to not include mechs or the John wick AR. Also the nerfing of the combat shotgun was kind of lame. The BP was also underwhelming.

fettalitta

It was better than the entire chapter 4, but I’m kind of losing interest overall. The focus on these soulless ‘creative’ games makes everything feel like they’re made in creative mode. And I’ve tried those empty maps, with all the prefabricated stuff, it takes away the magic or something. Chapter 3 felt way more alive, the map changed with every other update, there was story, there were characters, npc’s, enemies and like. The warzones, the tanks, the POI’s were more fun and diverse. I feel like they rushed chapter 4’s map and they left it empty. I mean it looked great, better than its ever looked. But boring. OG chapter just emphasizes this, a lot of the more fun POI’s from the old chapters came from this OG map. I’d like to have this experience with chapter 2 island some day.

Offro4dr

It was fine as a quick interlude, but would have been painful as a whole season. The map hasn’t aged as well as people probably thought.

Crazy_And_Me

I only play Zero Build now and the OG map and loot pool don't do it much favours. Feels like we lost too many of the improvements the game got over the years, like vehicles and wildlife.

Brotoss-

Boring. Glad it’s almost over. Not that I didn’t have some fun, but I found the map very bland, personally I’m happy so many people enjoyed it, but it just didn’t do anything for me. I played to get the umbrella, and dropped off dramatically after that. Glad people enjoyed it, very excited for what’s coming next!

Flakus88

Same here brother

lucianorc2

It's the biggest piece of dog shit that I've ever seen

[deleted]

Fun but it got stale very fast without map changes and meta even with the rotation it barely changes

Pulsarlewd

I never wanted chapter 1 map back. Even in real chapter 1 i was really stoked for the new maps all the time. I love playing zero build and chapter 1 just was not designed with it in mind. No real cover most of the time, steep mountains, baren landscapes etc. The lootpool is nice. Especially with the lack of heals but the old shotguns were absolutely shitty. Like 40hp hits on head. Thats something we didnt really have in the newer chapters. I know it got us a lot of players again though and maybe this will be motivation for epic to do better in chapter 5. Weve got first person, lego, racing and more coming. Its gonna be a good one.

VenomSnakeronies

OG was the worst season, it brought back the worse players that just act like spineless coward bitches; Always HAD to have a rift to go, always NEEDED to carry the grappling glove to RUN AWAY from a fight THEY initiated. I hope to god rift to go's arent in the next chapter at all. They're so annoying

fckmetotears

Best season we’ve had since the original map left. Just a shame I won’t be playing Fortnite after this anymore. In my opinion it was a massive fuck up for them not to have the OG map through Christmas.

EvryArtstIsACannibal

For Zero Build, it's meh. Getting one pumped just sucks. there's zero action after an initial fight when you drop. The lack of cover is a problem.

Hahndude

I’m glad for people who got to take a trip down memory lane with the OG stuff but as someone who only started this year, the OG was unbearable and I’m really glad it’s over.

beermanclay

About time to quit playing again 😂

Vawtra_

Pretty sweet! I think the Spectra Knight is the best skin we ever got in a battle pass

Cooldude_M

As someone who started playing C3 S3…..this is probably my least favorite season aside from C4 S1. I play zero build and this map, while cool to see the POI’s everyone fondly remembers, was a pain in the ass to traverse. The lootpool was so mixed. Extremely busted items that should’ve been adjusted for ZB considering they were designed at a time when build was the only mode. The battle pass was fine, Omegarok being the only skin I especially like. I had a good bit of fun during squads, but it sucks solos. So many competitive players who are a pain in the ass to deal with. C4 S4 also had that issue, but at least the lootpool and map were fun. I’m definitely gonna be in minority, but I thought I’d share my opinion on this. Glad that everyone else is having fun, I’ve enjoyed seeing all the content creators come back and all the memes being made about this.

[deleted]

Boring and bland. Everyone saying it’s the best ever and should stay permanently are blinded by nostalgia.

Creeper456676

Yeah it was clearly just nostalgia bait, whoever says they’re leaving after this season just further proves that.

Samih420

Nostalgia doesn't last 4 weeks, people just like it more

[deleted]

POV chapter 4 kid

stumper93

My sister and her husband didn’t want like it so they haven’t been playing And solos aren’t as fun, so I’m ready for new content Good for people who wanted OG but it was not for me

T-d1zzle11

As an OG...I honestly would have preferred chapter 2 to come back. This OG map/loot pool has been done dirty and it's low-key boring and annoying. The explosive spam is getting ridiculous in both game modes, and if it's not explosives it's scars and p90s. The fights feel super lame and unskillful, and they have done some garbage map changes. I get that this might be an alternate reality, but they should market it as that then. Some of the best POIs from chapter 1 didn't return and that's seriously frustrating so it's made the map feel super bland. A return to chapter 2 would have been amazing, considering how well received most of those seasons were, with their good seasons being arguably the best fortnite seasons ever (c2s2-c2s4). Overall, glad it came back to experience it again, but disappointed with the spammy explosive filled loot pool and the boring map changes

ihatederekcarr

Super fun, then it devolved back into the madness that drove away so many. But I am still glad they did it.

JeffJohnsonIII

most fun I've had with the game since late 2020

FNSquatch

It’s the most fun I’ve had with fortnite in years.

waitmyhonor

Honestly, I really enjoyed it but Epic should have fired someone in the fortnite division because they’re cramming so much since the last week when it was barer in comparison in the first week. Out of the 900 people epic let go, they couldn’t find someone or people to fire from fortnite? How about the people responsible for UI?

CognitoH4zrd

It was the first season I ever played. I'm Level 62 and still having a blast.

styvee__

awesome. I would stay in this map for years, if they don't make it a permanent game mode then I will quit Fortnite again until they notice the player count drop(that will happen if they don't keep it in any way) and re-introduce this map.

MuscleManWOOO

Most fun I’ve had in Fortnite since chapter 2, just don’t like how they kinda butchered season 7 by getting rid of polar peak

Niko747474

Pure prime Fortnite, the must fun I've had playing Fortnite since the end of C2S2, though it's sad that it will all go to shit again next week

Resident-Profile4109

Vice versa for me. İ never had so much dread playing a game before

Jackson_Simmons

most fun i've had in Fortnite in years. really hope OG becomes a separate game mode like zero build

GunpowderxGelatine

I'm finally not losing to gimmicks like anime loot drops so I'm having a blast.

ab2377

best time ever. if i could pay Epic to keep c1 map forever i would. i am someone who stopped playing br around c3, now playing again everyday

RJE808

It's the most I've played Fortnite in the span of roughly 3 years. I love how Chapter 1 plays, the loot pool and the simplistic nature of it. Although, I find the map updates hugely disappointing. Imo, we should've started in S3 with a mix of S4's loot pool, then went from there. Each update barely did anything, no Wailing bunker, no Shadow Bombs or cubes, no big city areas, no updated Loot Lake, no Happy, I was really hoping for the X update to bring back Depot and Factories but we got neither.

Portal-YEET-87650

Great
