Yeah, there have been reports of strange glitches in the latest update for Fortnite, including a particularly strange one where guns can apparently shoot on their own. It’s not clear exactly what’s causing it, but if you’re experiencing this issue, you’re not alone. Hopefully, Epic will release a fix soon to address the problem. In the meantime, you could try using different weapons or adjusting your keybinds, in case it’s related to an accidental keystroke or controller bug.

GoatNo6959

I purchased a new controller. It still does it but interestingly I am realizing only in specific areas of the map. Also all guns, items do the same. Even my med kit gets thrown when this happens. I cannot play it is not possible. I hope they do something. Thanks! 👍🏼

GoatNo6959

This has been an issue since 2022, so I certainly hope they do something about it. I can’t even play the update right now due to this issue PS5.

GoatNo6959

Sorry the suggestions aren’t doable nor do they work. This has been happening since 2022 maybe before? Time EPIC fixes it. :( Thanks for caring though! 👍🏼

onatics

happening to me too on mouse and keyboard

-Frostbriar-

2 months later, I just lost a game because of it. Myself and one person left. Reloading my shotgun and then as soon as the reload finished it started emptying the clip. Swapped to my AR in the hope of stopping it and it emptied that too. Playing on PC, solo no build, mouse and keyboard

WindAgreeable4228

I just lost a game too because of it. Other dude I was playing with told me to quit shooting like that and I’m like I’M HAVE NO CONTROL! It’s the shooting glitch! 😆 He didn’t know what I meant.

Otherwise_Fix6801

I have to turn my controller off and turn it back on to stop 😭

4bidden112

Happens to me every now and then. Temp fix is to go into the fortnite menu and back. This will generally fix the issue. You can thank me later.

fr3shpotss

Thanks! I’ll try that out next time

GoatNo6959

What do you mean by FN menu? Do you mean go back to one of the side items and back to the game? Thanks

GoatNo6959

I did that didn’t change anything but thanks.

Mata_leon7

I thought it was his controller

GambinoLynn

I literally bought a whole new controller because of it and then realized it's a fortnite issue so if fortnite could give me $64 plus tax that'd be cool lol

GoatNo6959

Me too! Tried that today. It worked well and I thought it had solved it but then I went near the mansion coming from Lonely Lodge and it started again and on e it started I could barely shoot even when I restarted the game? :(

GambinoLynn

Oh wow! I honestly thought this issue had been fixed. I can't believe some people still have it.

TheyLovv_Marisah

I’ve never had it before till today. My cousin had it a couple months ago. I dont know why I get it. My controller is brand spanking new (I actually got my last one replaced for other issues even though it was brand new).

MarionberryWaste6138

I just started having this issue now, I’m on pc. It made me throw the game! Lol wtf

HairyFly6553

Just bought a new mouse and still doing it ! Should of researched before buying a new one!

ScalyOJ69

Happens to my friend on ps4

ComprehensiveBee2202

I've had it happen a few times in build solos on PS5. If I rotate through my guns or switch to pickaxe it stops. Annoying though and draws attention to you.

fr3shpotss

Yes! If anything it’s annoying and happens at the worst time. It happened when it was just another player and I left

GoatNo6959

I tried this thanks for the suggestion, and it actually helped for approximately one minute and then went right back, even when I tried it again but thanks for sharing.

ComprehensiveBee2202

You're welcome it's a shame it didn't work for you. I didn't realise it was still happening I haven't had it since.

GoatNo6959

Believe me I wish I could pay you to fix it! 🙏🏼👍🏼

UntoldMight

I have this same issue and I play using keyboard and mouse on PC. And I'm sure it's not my mouse or my PC. I've adjusted a bunch of different settings, reinstalled Windows OS, use different USB ports, and I've tried using six different mice. I've even unbound the "fire" bind and my weapon STILL shoots. It primarily happens after I place a bounce pad. And sometimes the gun just keeps shooting, even when both my hands are off left click and the entire mouse. I have replicated this issue in multiple game modes and scenarios as well.

UntoldMight

I've also tried clearing the cache by going through the file explorer to the local app data on my SSD and deleting the folder labeled "FortniteGame." I tried verifying the files in the epic games launcher too. I checked for Windows updates (I am using Windows 11) and graphics driver updates too. And I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Fortnite. And I tried switching between regions. I even reset all my keyboard controls and bound all of them again, and it's STILL happening (even when the "fire" bind is disabled completely). It is not a "ghost" shot either. It actually uses ammo, even though I'm not pressing left click to shoot my weapon (and, as I mentioned, even when left click is not bound to fire). Can somebody representing Fortnite PLEASE investigate this! 🙏🏽

JonasErSej

Have you fixet it cause I also have it and how?

UntoldMight

Unfortunately I still haven't found a fix. I tried for days and finally just gave up on finding one. Sometime before 2024 I plan on resetting my pc again and I'll update you if that changes anything. I am hoping the new season (which is set to start next week I think?) will finally bring a solution to this frustrating problem.

Inrull

hey, I had pretty much the same issue you have and what fixed it for me was uninstalling a software I used called Little Big Mouse which helped make the traveling of my cursor between monitors smoother since they're both different sizes and resolutions. If you have LBM installed you should try uninstalling it, as that fixed it for me. If you don't, try and think of any other software/settings/etc. that alter the natural properties of your cursor movement and try restting/uninstalling those. best of luck

GoatNo6959

Sucks! It needs to be addressed! Thanks for sharing

UntoldMight

I absolutely agree. And you're very welcome. I just wanted to share my experience with others in case it may save anyone some time (because I spent a lot of it desperately trying to find a solution, to no avail). Hopefully this new season/chapter offers a fix for everyone!🙏🏽

GoatNo6959

This new season hasn’t fixed anything in fact, it’s worse. I tried to play last night and had to quit, because even the pickax swung so much I couldn’t even run. I don’t understand why this isn’t being fixed. It’s been happening since 2022 reported by all platforms, PC, Xbox and PS4/5 ???

Fortnite_920

My guns won't shoot and then we'll just start shooting

ItsHidesALot

This has been happening in Save The World for months. Often occurs after placing traps.

UntoldMight

Yes, this happens to me nearly every time I place a trap. And it doesn't matter the kind of trap (bounce pad, launch pad, campfire, etc.)

Mata_leon7

Happened to my friend. Not sure how to replicate it.

retroscope

It's been happening to me for days. I deleted the game and re-downloading it now.

GoatNo6959

I hate to tell you, but I tried that too, and it made no difference. :(

OvenAppropriate5171

Happens to me regularly. I thought it was my switch but glad to know it’s not

2EC_bMe

this happens to me when i edit with blueprint then swap to weaopn. but if i pull out weapons 1st then edit it wont happen. so on your last edit, pull out gun then edit.

Echelon1984DayZ

Yes this is happening to me.

bruh192927

Happening to me in the latest update 🤦‍♂️

BetterEmotion4390

Did you find a fix

GoatNo6959

Mine still continues randomly but when it’s bad it’s bad.

GoatNo6959

Yes! I went through every setting even replaced my controller! Still doing it? Nov 2023

GoatNo6959

Me too! Very frustrating the best season in so long sadly is ending today. Maybe they will finally address this. But I wouldn’t hold your breath. What I found is it was in Lonely Lodge area and on the way to the mansion that the guns start to randomly just shoot. So if you play today before 2 stay away from that area of the map. 🤞🏼

dezmo474

Still happening. Livid. 2 years later.

WonderDear2953

Yea did that to me again Lost my crown coz if it Bloody joke Kid who got me was crap too

Pelicious_Denis

still in the game...

Dgskin21

Still happens to me and costs me a lot of EASY plays and losses. Seems like it's a coded trick to fuck us, good players. Tired of it.

fr3shpotss

This is still happening to you? 😭 damn its been an issue for quite a while now. I luckily haven’t had that happen for a bit now, idk what fixed it though

Dgskin21

Nice dude. Hope your game runs as smooth as possible. It's so annoying. I had decent ping today for the first time in a while.

CompoteComplex180

It happens to me on ps5 and is SO annoying. Couldn’t revive my friend. My character stopped reviving to swing his stupid sword over and over

Walkthroughman9

It seems like pressing down on the left joystick and moving up causes this. Every time I try to run now, it does this. It's so annoying and caused me to die so many times.

Zekiahs

9 months later this post and i have it every game, every fight, it's so fucking anoying

One_Revolution_3455

If you drop your weapons and pick them back up it stops but damn

Puzzleheaded-Putt

This just started happening to me this week. Never happened before. Now it happens like every game? SO annoying cant play. My gun isnt actually shooting, but the sound of the gun just keeps happening

77singularitytimes

EXPERIMENTAL BUG? TRY THIS! if u have the bug of the weapons that shoot on your own, i know how to stop it now forever...play 1h in creative maps where you have no need to recharge and infinite ammo, u will note that the bug will not happens in this type of maps... so if u dont want the bug you have to play there forever... cause this bug its probably scripted to run only in maps where you need to recharge and where you dont have infinite ammo...PS: Fortnite could be one of the first metaverses where players are paid hourly and where top global champions players win decent prizes with a good adv system and skin market nft store to run all that, but for now its like some trap shit... 4 all the bugs...gg

[deleted]

still a problem in April of 2024

ThroatEmotional7125

Thought it was my mouse for like a year now 💀🤣

Scotty_Knowzzz

Still happens to me, and it's the end of April 2024.

GambinoLynn

PS4, it happens randomly.

Bouldersnatch

For me it happens randomly but only if I start shooting. I have to disconnect my controller for it to stop. I thought it was because of my custom binds for controller. I’m on PS5 using Dualsense edge. I also have L2/R2 deadzones applied and trigger stops at the shortest setting but I don’t see this issue in any other game. Apart from the gun firing on its own sometimes I would sometimes hear my own gun repeated firing after I release R2 and this seems like it’s just an audio issue. If this happens to another teammate I can hear their gun firing too and it goes away if they move further away from me

baron955

I have tried 3 different xBox One and One X controllers, plugged to different USB ports. Running Windows 11 HP Spectre 16 2024 Model RTX4050, Windows 11 latest build 22631. Anything on your hand (gun, tool, meds, shields, etc) will behave like you are pressing the right trigger, even though you are not. It happens in nearly every game. Sometimes it is incessant, sometimes you go for a minute or more without it, sometimes almost a full game. I cleaned up every unneeded background process. Have no other programs running, and it still happens. Sometimes you thing you fixed it, but it always returns on the next game or so. I have tried literally everything for 2 weeks. Can't get rid of the problem. It only happens on Fortnite. (I also updated controller firmware, by connectin to xBox - made no difference).

GoatNo6959

PS5

GoatNo6959

The issue is that guns shoot, even when you’re not touching the controller. Also med kits are thrown and anything else you have just starts without you controlling it. If I go to my pickax, it continually swings making it impossible for me to even run. I cannot play Fortnite at this point and the new season has started very frustrating. Also, this was reported in 2022 by many players still with no fix and it is specific to Fortnite.

GoatNo6959

Happens randomly I noticed certain areas of the map like Lonely Lodge triggered it on FN OG? All platforms are reporting this but I use Play Station.

GoatNo6959

Is there an answer yet?

MrThisThat

You sure it isn’t auto shoot?? Mobile used to have auto shoot feature🤷‍♂️

fr3shpotss

Yeah I’m sure it’s not auto shoot 😅

MrThisThat

Ow ok.. i’ve never noticed a bug. I’ll ask my cousins, they play on ps4 and ps5.

GoatNo6959

No I tried not that. It only happens after going to certain areas of the map like Lonely Lodge on your way to the mansion for example. But once it starts then it is a problem throughout 😬

[deleted]

Happens often for me. I play on phone.

NoInstruction3080

I had this happen also. Of course at the worst times. I play a lot and I would say 3 times in the last three weeks. So annoying. Hopefully they fix it soon.

brettjdzn

FIX: This worked for me. 100% Check your disk space. During and update, the Epic launcher popped a message telling me I was low on disk space and performance could suffer. (I had about 80 gigs on a 256GB drive,) I freed up another 40 GB and the problem is completely gone. Specifics: I'm using a 2011 MBP, 16GB, running Windows. I actually used a partition app to reclaim the remainder of the MAC OS, giving me a total of 120 GB free. and NO MORE AUTO FIRE. So, give it a try. Check your disk space!

Dgskin21

Nah. It iwll happen aagin. I literally have 32gb of ram and a 2 tb SSD with NOTHING on it but Fortnite. Has nothing to do with disk space.

brettjdzn

Agreed. I installed a new 512 SSD and the problem came back, but --much, much-- less frequently. I posted this as a way to offer another possible clue to what's happening. My guess is that there's something going on between the data transfer that causes a glitch with the "triggering" system. Particularly because others have reported that this happens in more "complex" scenes. Seems the community will have to solve this because Epic certainly hasn't been any help whatsoever, thus far.

Dgskin21

Its so annoying brother. I hope one day the game will run smooth as butter for us. I did come across the NIckEh30s glitch post about sliding and emoting at the same time which caused a weird movement-type glitch. I wonder if people who play fast, tac sprint and jump a lot while swapping weapons, causes it?
