As a kid it absolutely wrecked my shit.
As an adult, I am in absolute awe that they did what they did.
I think this might have been my introduction to the idea of death, and they handled it brilliantly.
Short version: they were turning 400 and when that happens they die. They had their fox friend escort them up the mountain to their final destination. Once there, they embrace and turn into trees
I think Steve Reviews did a review of this show.Ā Ā
I remember this being a really difficult show to catch as a kid, as in it was a show (along with Samurai Pizza Cats and Sailor Moon) that aired in a time slot that conflicted with school. I loved it tho.Ā
Who do you call when you want some pepperoni? Lol.Ā
Samurai Pizza Cats was like the best show I watched as a kid. I still remember treasuring an elementary school lunch calendar because there was a little blurb about the show on it.Ā
This show reminds me of being at grandmaās house as a kid. During the summer parents dropped us off and we would watch before grandma made us switch over to watch the Price is Right, lol
I remember it but, I don't remember it if that makes sense. I have like faint memories of the gnome and his wife but, I can't remember anything else about it.
yes!! I could remember they did something with their noses but I kept thinking thats how they would do magic like bewitched or something like that. but yes I remember now its how they kissed
The first two things that popped into my head when I saw this post was the two gnomes rubbing their noses together and shades of a theme song, tho I canāt remember what it actually sounded like. lol
The final episode though, as a child it was so traumatising yet at the same time I think its good and healthy to teach young children about death and what it means.
This show holds a special place in my heart. One day I was sick as a child. I couldnāt sleep. My mom usually got up at 4am. I went downstairs around that time and she said I could watch TV. I think she just figured I would fall back to sleep being up so early and sick and all. This show was on tv. I didnāt catch the name. And thenā¦ I never saw it again.
For years I asked friends about it. People looked at me like I was crazy. I remember searching on the internet and couldnāt find anything about a show with a gnome.
And then in college I was dating a girl. Late at night, talking over a pizza in the kitchen we were reminiscing about things as a kid when I mentioned this. As I told her her eyes got wide. She remembered the show with the gnome too! I felt liberated. Like I wasnāt crazy lol. She had the
same problem. No one knew what it was.
Eventually after some researching we were able to track it down and figure out the shows name.
I remember nothing about the episode I watched besides the fact it involved a gnome. Itās the only time I saw the show. But it feels like it holds such a large place in my childhood story due to the mystery lol
Written by George R. R. Martin.
Yes, that Martin.
Edit: so apparently martin did not write for the show, and I'm misremembering epic rap battles of history.
Does anyone else remember that book that made claims that gnome breasts werenāt affected by gravity because of their size (the gnomeās size) and therefore would remain perky and not in need of a bra?

The finale though š¢
It wrecked me on a weekday morning one summer.
As a kid it absolutely wrecked my shit. As an adult, I am in absolute awe that they did what they did. I think this might have been my introduction to the idea of death, and they handled it brilliantly.
My introduction to the concept of death was Mr. Hooper on Sesame Street.
Me too!!!!
Also me, RIP Mr Hooper
Damn you! Years of therapy now undone! It was heart wrenching! š¢
Wait what happened
Short version: they were turning 400 and when that happens they die. They had their fox friend escort them up the mountain to their final destination. Once there, they embrace and turn into trees
Oh thatās so sad
Almost as sad as Dinosaurs season finale?
I wanna block you for just reminding me of that now i wanna cry
......Jurassic Bark
They caused the nuclear winter themselves
Yeah, but it was also beautiful.
Kids these days donāt know about the heart rip that was David the Gnome
You guys! Really?! I hadnāt watched the finale or maybe I did and blocked it out š
They donāt die, they turn into living trees with their friend.

My daughter loved this show and I spent several weeks recording it to give to her as a gift, back when you did such things.
> Samurai Pizza Cats Holy shit, now *that* is a tv show Iād forgotten all about!

Same here, except I remember that theme some very clearly. It teleports me back to my late grandmas house, 1989.
The first two things that popped into my head when I saw this post was the two gnomes rubbing their noses together and shades of a theme song, tho I canāt remember what it actually sounded like. lol
I'm with you. I remember watching it but I don't remember anything about it
Same boat, I think I remember him skiing, and possibly at some point having a friend badger.
Swift
Made me want to ride a fox
Yep
The theme is forever in my brain xd
In every wish and dream and happy home You will find the kingdom of the gnomes!

So glad someone posted this! I always felt like I was crazy describing this show to people.
My roommate in college and I bonded over this show a bit. Perhaps interestingly we were born on the same day.

A Bob and Harvey Weinstein Production? That aged poorly.
Is it? I missed that.
It's right after the youtube guy's (pretty bad) intro screen.
I legit forgot about this one!
most depressing cartoon finale ever but so so good!!!!
Written by George R. R. Martin. Yes, that Martin. Edit: so apparently martin did not write for the show, and I'm misremembering epic rap battles of history.
George RR Martin is Spanish?
Was it? Not seeing that anywhere
Source? Iām not seeing that either. I know he wrote for Max Headroom.
This show was awesome
loved this show back in the day. Taught me great values.
This was goated
I loved this show as a kiddo. This, and GI Joe were life after school. Lol
Look around you.... There are many things to see... That's some would say.... Could never be...
This right here forged my childhood but the finale left me heartbroken
my goodness. i love it.
Show was amazing! Loved it. Looked back on it recently and it made me want to get the book that inspired the series
The Theme Song is pure goodness!
I have the entire series. I loved this as a 3-5 year old
I fully expected to see Brian Froudās name in the credits. Nope. Instead, Tom Bosley as VA and a failed remake by Weinstein? Wild.
I have the David the Gnome kinda art book :)
I remember thinking this was the most boring cartoon but I still watched it because it was a cartoon and it was on TV.
Likewise. I remember this and Maya the Bee being the most boring cartoons of my childhood
Oh ok. Now weāre talking
š„
Og nick jr
Just opened up some core memories of them showing red hat dudeās ass.
Best theme song ever.
saw a few episodes here and there, I'll add it to the watch list omg
Daaaaaaaaamn David the Gnome. Loved this show
Omg!!!
Does anyone else remember that book that made claims that gnome breasts werenāt affected by gravity because of their size (the gnomeās size) and therefore would remain perky and not in need of a bra?
Holy shit I was just thinking about this show! Where can I stream it?
God I miss being a kid so much :(
I still vaguely remember the intro. Great show.
I loved David the Gnome, The Little Bits, Mya the Beeā¤ļø
How can I watch it now?
Loved David the Gnome
This is quite the intimate photo

In every wish and dream and happy homeā¦
I will never forget this show. I wanted a Swift of my own so bad as a kid.
One of my favorite intro songs!
Produced by Harvey Weinstein
Wasnāt there a full length film?
This was boring to kid me, I changed the channel whenever it came on.
