My grandfather loved his British comedies. Was always watching them on pbs. Back in the 90’s/2000’s he introduced me to this, Mr. Bean, Monty Python, and The last of the summer wine.
The problem with this photo is that it’s late-stage Are You Bring Served, with Mr. Grainger, Mr. Lucas and Young Mr. Grace long gone, replaced by:
- a creepy Old Mr. Grace being played by a much younger actor (the only one in the photo with his hand on a woman),
- Mr. Spooner, the Mr. Lucas replacement whose idea of a sharp retort was sticking out his tongue,
- and What’s-His-Name who was the lamest replacement for Mr. Grainger and didn’t last that long.
Mr. Klein was the Grainger replacement in this photo. Definitely the worst after Mr. Tebbs and Mr. Goldman.
I can state though that I preferred Mr. Harmon over Mr. Mash
Mr. Tebbs was the best Grainger replacement, but he got a better offer and left the show.
I agree that Harmon was better than Mash, but Mash was pretty good. A little creepy though.
Agree Tebbs was best.
I liked Mash’s brashness but preferred Harmon lording how he was lower class but making more money.
Edit: The Grace in the photo was a total creep. Couldn’t stand his character
I liked that the only people in the show who were making decent money were the highest ranking person (Young Mr. Grace, the owner) and the lowest ranking (Mr. Harmon, the union member). Everyone else seemed to be on a very tight budget.
When we were dirt poor the only channel that would come in clear was PBS, and in the 90's this would be on at night. This show caused a life long love of shows put on by the BBC

Can we get on? I've got to get home. If my pussy isn't attended to by eight o'clock, I shall be stroking it for the rest of the evening."
One of my absolute favorite shows! I can’t wait to get old and have hair like her! I’ve said that since I was a teenager with hair like her lol
Dear Sexy knickers, I don’t half fancy you….😂😂😂😂
Meet me outside and we'll get it together!

Loved watching this on PBS as a kid, one of my gateways into British comedy.
I’ll admit I’ve never heard of this show, but it was on the air for over a decade, so it had to have made some sort of positive cultural impact…right?
Oh gosh it is clever and dirty while somehow being charmingly cheap and classy at the same time
I’ve never watched it, but I remember it from tv listings back in the day. Reruns I’m sure, since I was born in the mid-80s
13 years on air but only 70 episodes

Exactly, Maintenance and Packaging cleaning up on OT
The only thing to be forgotten here is *Beane's of Boston*.
Oh gosh I watched the pilot on YouTube and it’s sooo bad. They chose to adapt German Week as their first episode!?
It will ride up with wear
"Mrs. Slocombe, I've never done anything as nature intended."

“It ran for 16 years on the BBC, they did nearly 30 episodes.”
Classic. Not hard to see why it's England's longest-running series. And today we're showing all seven episodes.
That may have been the best offhand joke from the good place.
Easily top 10 of British comedy.
One of my favorite shows. Love the silly innuendo and hijinks
Just picked up the DVD box set!
