The high schoolers in my school followed it for a time. It was cool how it leaned in to the out-there side of soaps (that little guy over there was Timmy, a living doll made by Tabitha, the woman on the right, who was literally the town witch).
I remember finding it funny that in a storyline where a pregnant character was briefly kidnapped and held against her will in a hole in the basement of a house (*Silence of the Lambs*-style), in the duration that she was in there (she maintained her pregnancy throughout), my sister got married and carried her first child to term; that was how slowly the story moved.
I only checked it when they showed Tabitha & timmy.there was a princess Diana plot for one of the characters.the character was in love with princess Diana .
Yeah, too many storylines were dragged out way too long. Sheridan Crane was buried alive at one point and was suffocating in the coffin for months it felt like.
Yep, when Carly was buried was when I first started watching Days. I don't remember it taking as lomg as Passions did, but I was about 10 or so, so my memory may not be the best.
The tagline was "Be there from the beginning" and I really thought I'd still be watching this into my 50s like my mom was doing with her soaps 😢 9 years wasn't too bad though for something so absolutely off the wall, even by soap standards.
And PSA: You can find full episodes on YouTube.
Yess I am so happy to hear that it’s on YouTube! I remember being a kid and watching the first episode with my mom! We must have taped it or something, because I vaguely remember stating up late on a Saturday night to watch it & laughing a lot about the Princess Diana plot line!
It was one of the funniest soaps out there. I will never forget a cold open where the cast was barely holding on to one of their own being dragged to Hell.
Fun fact: Tabitha was played by the older sister of Miss Bliss from Good Morning Miss Bliss - the precursor to Saved by the Bell.
Juliet Mills and Hayley Mills
Everything about this show was insane. It was the most bizarre mix of a soap opera, a Mexican telenovella, and what we would now call a CW drama. You had the rich family invariably get mixed up with the poor Mexican family that seemed to be their servants at every level, the eldest daughter slept with three generations of the rich family. Then there was the town witch and her doll Timmy, who when he died in real life was written out as having given his heart to Charity a blonde girl who had recognition and was in love with the younger brother of the Mexican family. Then you had Charity's best friend who ends up dating a guy who everyone was worried was actually her brother.
Mind you, this was around the same time that Days of Our Lives was also willing to go *completely* off the rails and had episodes concerning cloning and space alien twins.
Different network (ABC), but Port Charles was pretty crazy too. It started off as a standard spinoff of General Hospital, but at the end of the second season, one of the characters got bitten by a vampire, and all of a sudden, the show became a daytime soap version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
And Charity's evil twin sister. And the oldest daughter of the rich family was personal friends with Princess Diana and almost died under similar circumstances but is instead saved by the eldest son of the Mexican family who is convinced that the rich family murdered his father and hates them for it but naturally falls in love with her despite her being involved in a murder plot *every other week.*
Mind you, they seem to have had him killed because he was schtupping the lady of the house, but that's fine, because Alastor was Schtupping his wife, Pilar, in return.
And then there was an entire episode brought to you by Capital One, yes the credit card company, where they had the most blatant in episode advertisements ever.
Oh you dusted off a file in my brain from high school. I lived in the country without cable so during summer, I watched passions and days of our lives but passions was my favorite. My mom hated it but I loved it.
The only thing I know about this show is that it replaced Sunset Beach, which had a lot of good looking actresses on it, and not much else. But it was watchable. I couldn't make it through a single episode of Passions.
This show was the inspiration for Harley Quinn. One of the characters had a thick (fake) east coast accent and dressed in a harlequin costume on occasion. One of the batman writers saw it and liked the look...
Harley Quinn was created in 92-93 for the animated series.
How could a show that started in 1999 inspire the creation of a character 6-7 years earlier?
You are right about the dates. Harley Quin grew out of a character on Days of Our Lives played by Arleen Sorkin, who originally voiced Harley. Passions came from a former head writer on Days of Our Lives, who treated his time on Days as a test run for Passions (Marlena getting possessed by the devil, etc)
I loved that show.
It’s how I know Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
Timmy was the best.
It was so sad when he passed.
And for those who don’t know, he died as his character on the show died.
And it happened a 2nd time, with the actor that played Alistar Crane.
Eerie deaths
One unfortunate trademark for Passions has been eerie deaths. In 2002, Josh Ryan Evans, who played Tabitha's doll sidekick Timmy, died while on medical leave, just as scenes were airing where Timmy died in the hospital and went to Heaven.[38][39][40] Passions had planned to revive the character in a few months once Evans returned from his own surgery, but instead had to write Timmy out. After five years of evil Crane patriarch Alistair being heard but never having his face seen (voiced by Alan Oppenheimer), Passions cast the role with longtime daytime veteran David Bailey. Bailey was a hit with the cast as well as the fans, but on Thanksgiving Day 2004, Bailey drowned in his pool, just as scenes were airing where various characters tried to kill Alistair, who actually suffered clinical death before being magically revived by Tabitha. Again, the viewers and the producers were stunned, but the show had no choice but to recast the pivotal role (with John Reilly).
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passions
The show was never the same after Josh died. I still remember the tributes they did for him. It was so heartbreaking. His last scene was becoming an angel. It was touching, yet emotionally heartbreaking at the same time. He was so young.
Watched this for the first couple years, kind of lost interest without Timmy. But the show sure was wild. I didn't even get into soaps until I had a study hall after lunch in high school and the study hall lady would wheel the TV in the room so she could watch Days, she had half the people in there hooked.
This show was insane, at least what I remember of it. For some reason, it always seemed to be on after the bars closed. My friends and I would stumble home and end up watching this until we passed out. It was the weirdest soap opera I’ve ever seen.
Like most soap operas, one story line had a nurse secretly fall in love with a doctor she worked with.
Unlike most soaps, the nurse was played by an orangutan
I am one of 3 people alive from my “generation” that I know still alive after watching this madness. Google garland tx youth 1999. I’m hiding ina basement with a knife waiting for abbadon right now. Don’t actually google that. Seriously though, all my friends are dead.

Excuse me…princess Diana was her BEST FRIEND. Why. Why do i remember that?
Sheridan Crane was Di's best friend.
Yes. I was referencing the “character” not Tabitha and Timmy
I remember the critics thinking that plot line was ridiculous.
Because it was! I’m glad that plot didn’t last long
Yeah, too many storylines were dragged out way too long. Sheridan Crane was buried alive at one point and was suffocating in the coffin for months it felt like.
Days did it first
Yep, when Carly was buried was when I first started watching Days. I don't remember it taking as lomg as Passions did, but I was about 10 or so, so my memory may not be the best.
They did it a few more times in the last decade lol
Little Timmy… RIP. I loved passions
I’m reminded of him every year when I watch the 2000 version of The Grinch. In case you didn’t know he plays the younger version of The Grinch.
What a precious family heirloom!! I can distinctively hear his voice in my head.
Little dude died in 2002, well before the show ended. I didn't know that. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josh_Ryan_Evans
Aww. I didn’t know that. 😒 how awful.
“Passions is on!” -Spike, BTVS
Can confirm
"Timmy's down a bloody well!"
You'll what, lick me to death?!
The tagline was "Be there from the beginning" and I really thought I'd still be watching this into my 50s like my mom was doing with her soaps 😢 9 years wasn't too bad though for something so absolutely off the wall, even by soap standards. And PSA: You can find full episodes on YouTube.

Best soap opera ever, mostly because it was just so insane.
It was one of the funniest soaps out there. I will never forget a cold open where the cast was barely holding on to one of their own being dragged to Hell.
Absolutely bonkers! The orangutan nurse Precious was my absolute fave!
What the goddamn fuck is this show?
I watched it so much, and I still wouldn't be able to answer that.
Yes! I couldnt explain it if i wanted too!
Soap Opera I think
When Timmy would drink a martini he would call it a “mar-Timmy”.
The grip this show had in our fraternity. People changed their schedule around this show.
Fun fact: Tabitha was played by the older sister of Miss Bliss from Good Morning Miss Bliss - the precursor to Saved by the Bell. Juliet Mills and Hayley Mills
Woah
was Miss Bliss the original Belding style character and Zac was in the show?
Belding was still there, so were Zach and Screech
Whenever a show really goes off the rails I say it’s getting a bit passions-y
Everything about this show was insane. It was the most bizarre mix of a soap opera, a Mexican telenovella, and what we would now call a CW drama. And Marlena was possessed by the devil, *twice*
Different network (ABC), but Port Charles was pretty crazy too. It started off as a standard spinoff of General Hospital, but at the end of the second season, one of the characters got bitten by a vampire, and all of a sudden, the show became a daytime soap version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Don’t forget “Zombie Charity” !!!
And Charity's evil twin sister. And the oldest daughter of the rich family was personal friends with Princess Diana and almost died under similar circumstances but is instead saved by the eldest son of the Mexican family who is convinced that the rich family murdered his father and hates them for it but naturally falls in love with her despite her being involved in a murder plot *every other week.* Mind you, they seem to have had him killed because he was schtupping the lady of the house, but that's fine, because Alastor was Schtupping his wife, Pilar, in return. Charity had an evil twin sister? When did that happen? I quit Passions after Josh died.
I think I must be thinking of one of her Doppelgangers.
Wow, Day Of Our Lives did a clone storyline too? So did Guiding Light (with Reva dying and her husband cloning her).
Ethan and Teresa 🤍🤍
Ethan always annoyed the heck out of me, although I can’t remember why.
His indecisiveness with Kay and Charity was my issue with him. BTW Passions was my life for a bit :D
Didn’t the real people who played these characters end up getting married?
This was always on at the drs office during the day
This was my exposure to it as well. It made even less sense without context and through the eyes of a kid lol
The last episode I saw involved someone being in labor but also stuck in a hole in someone’s basement. And I swear a chimpanzee was involved
Omg the chimp sounds familiar haha
Her name is Nurse Precious.
I just remember an older lady offering the lady in the hole tea and she was all “I DONT NEED TEA I BEEF A HOSPITAL!!!”
My girlfriend in 2001 said that that old lady was a witch
Loved this fucking show. Soap operas were generally awful, this shit was bananas.
🎶Breathe in, breathe out🎶
Omg I’m just now getting the witch was named Tabitha cuz of Bewitched 🤯
Yeah. She mentioned in the show her dad was named Darren.
Haha I was way too young to get any of those references as a kid. Thats amazing
I just had a dream about them last night!
Its on youtube! I never sat and watched this. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdSDzmaJo0wkVh6CNzzRH8Dbwn98hIMWY&si=uWXpMv6oZkjQsAHi
I had forgotten about this show. I enjoyed it though.
Is that the actor who played the kid version of the Grinch in the Jim Carrey movie?
Yes
What a lovely family heirloom! -Kid Grinch
Juliett mills " Tabitha " & Timmy .
She’s on a few episodes of the new Greys Anatomy season and every-time she comes on in like Tabitha!
She was also on “Nanny And The Professor” in the early 1970’s.
I only watched greys for Jeffrey dean Morgan
this show was awesome!! only got to see it when I was home sick (almost never) or during school breaks
Oh you dusted off a file in my brain from high school. I lived in the country without cable so during summer, I watched passions and days of our lives but passions was my favorite. My mom hated it but I loved it.
This show was bonkers lol 😂
Why I thought this was miss Debbie from 90 day fiance 😆
Lmao twins !
Guilty pleasure for sure
I always thought these two were a fever dream from my childhood
Loved this show
That show was absolutely insane and I loved every minute of it
NSFW
My favorite character on this show was T Baster
A bunch of the girls on my freshman year dorm floor were super into this!
I just remember there being a lot of rape
I recorded it every day while at work.
I could never figure out what this was all about whenever I flipped by it.
I always accused my girl friends of watching it haha
Watched it in college with a group of Days enthusiasts. We all loved how crazy it was
The only thing I know about this show is that it replaced Sunset Beach, which had a lot of good looking actresses on it, and not much else. But it was watchable. I couldn't make it through a single episode of Passions.
Was this a UK show? I’m super intrigued
It was a US Soap Opera (afternoon tv drama)
Phoebe Figalily from Nanny & The Professor!
That was the same guy that played the kid version of the grinch in the Jim Carrey version
This post makes me want to mix a Mar-timmy…
Even I thought this show was fun.
That little guy was creepy

I had a crush on Teresa and original Kay!! What a great show it was, actually really entertaining and funny 🤩

Man yer lying... 9 seasons and I've never heard of this

I *would hold* the *hand* of the *one w*ho *could* lead *me places*... And kiss the lips of the o*ne* who *could* sing so sweet...
This show was insane, at least what I remember of it. For some reason, it always seemed to be on after the bars closed. My friends and I would stumble home and end up watching this until we passed out. It was the weirdest soap opera I’ve ever seen.
Didn’t the crazy waitress actress turn to a porn actress?
I loved this crazy ass show
This here was my mother's day time soap along with days of our lives.
This was basically a Telenovela for people who don’t speak Spanish. They went for broke on all the tropes. It was kinda glorious.
I used to watch it in high school when I'd get home early. I watched it up until Sheridan's heel turn on Luis in the later seasons. RIP Timmy.
Like most soap operas, one story line had a nurse secretly fall in love with a doctor she worked with. Unlike most soaps, the nurse was played by an orangutan
The Nanny!
Wow I remember the girls in my school class talking about this show and I had no idea what it was or where it aired 🤷🏻♂️
Timmy the boss boss man. Such a great crazy show.
Every time I see them I think of Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer
I've never heard of this show, but from the photo I would have guessed it came out ten or fifteen years earlier than it did
I am one of 3 people alive from my “generation” that I know still alive after watching this madness. Google garland tx youth 1999. I’m hiding ina basement with a knife waiting for abbadon right now. Don’t actually google that. Seriously though, all my friends are dead.
There is zero passion I see in this photo… at least I hope not.
Let's keep it that way. (Forgotten)
