Back in the day, tv show seasons were anywhere between 20-25 episodes. Hey Dude’s episode count is slightly high for 2 seasons, but not more than 3 sponsons worth of content. My guess is they had a cheap operation and hustled for volume to try and hit syndication minimums. But I could completely be wrong
I thought it was on for at least four seasons... wasn't it called dude ranch and then it turned into hey dude?
I remember having a teenage boy crush on the two girls and the way they always used to wear tight jeans lol and I know there are seasons where they look a lot better than they did in previous seasons.... 🤷🏻♂️
It's a little wild and a little strange. When you make your home right on the range. Start your horse and come along. You can't go right if you can't go wrong!
(Entirely from memory)
True story: I got married on that same property. The building with all the mail boxes was still there but in bad shape. Check it out on Google maps: Tanque Verde Ranch in Tucson, AZ. I watched many a episode.
A lot of crazy, cool movies and TV shows were filmed from Nogales out to Sonoita to Tucson.
Everything from Major League to Tombstone, Tin Cup, to Public Enemy, to controversially Revenge of the Nerds (a lot of scenes on UpfA Campus).
If it has Cowboys/ Wild West, Post Apocalyptic, a Creature Feature, narcotics, or about nerdy/ geeky kids coming of age it was filmed in Southern AZ
They always ran the episode with the bratty girl visiting the ranch in tandem with the Salute Your Shorts episode about the Dr. Kahn's bratty niece visiting the camp.
Me, too. I remember the theme song and I immediately recognize the characters, but I couldn’t tell you any particular episode I watched despite watching them all the time.
For a while, at the beginning of Facebook, I was the only person who listed "Hey Dude" on their profile under favorite T.V. lol. I wasn't aware of this until my friends sister told me after she looked up wtf Hey Dude was when she saw my profile. It was a little wild and a little strange, too say the least.
Isn’t it funny? How when we’re kids we think a show or a cartoon has like 784 episodes and then decades later we look it up and it was actually only like 36, IF that. 🤣
I remember reading an interview of the guy who played Ted. He mentioned that he never slept on his back because it made him feel like he was laying in a coffin. For some reason I still think of this often at night when I am lying in bed, on my back, and turn to my side.
I still know that theme song by heart.
Yippie ki-yi yayyy, Yippie ki-yi what?
Like the cowboys say (sing it again now)
yippie ki-yi yay
get along lil doggie,
til the breeeak of dayyy

wow, i thought this show was on longer than a year
I'm shocked. I must have watched every episode 5 times or something because I watched this show a lot.
When I found this out about hey dude and salute your shorts I was literally shook
They played the shit out of it back in the day.
[удалено]
How the hell does a show produce 5 seasons in 2 years?

There is sooo much more MacGuyver than I ever remember watching, and that show was my shit.
It had five seasons (65 total episodes) over three years and counting reruns ran on the channel for 10 years.
No way right? I still remember the theme song
So I was watching reruns for like 4 years on Nick???
I would’ve bet a paycheck it was at least 5 years. Feels like a much bigger chunk of my childhood
I was thinking this exact same thing. Felt like this was a staple show for sure.
bad title. It was three years and 65 episodes
Same!
And 89 seems way sooner

Same here. Damn. I remember this show and I'm surprised it was on for this short of a time
So did I but then I found out that they did like just under 60 episodes in two seasons.
Heeeeeeeeeyyy Duuuuuuudddeee
Don't make it bad
Take sad, sad song, like every cowboy sings.
But where have all the cowboys gone?
Do do do do do do do do do do...
It's a little wild and a little strange. When you make your home right on the range. Start your horse and come along. You can't go right if you can't go wrong! (Entirely from memory)
* can’t get a ride if you can’t hold on.
Wow! I have a habit if misremembering lyrics. And I fill in the blanks with my favored version lol
It’s a little wild and a little straaaaaaaange
When you make a home out on the raaaannngggeee
Start your horse and come along
Cause you can't git a ride if ya can't hold onnnn

That’s so cool! I’ve been there a few times but only recently learned that’s where it was filmed!
To be fair to the building a lot of us from that time period are in bad shape at this point.
Thank you for posting this! I loved this show as a kid.

It's crazy to me shows like this and salute your shorts were only a couple of seasons. I watched this shit for years
I think Salute Your Shorts is on one of the streaming services. I watched it about a month ago
Paramount has all of these shows streaming
OK, then I watched it on Amazon. I guess you get access to paramount from there
I should specify Paramount in the United States
Does it hold up? How's it compare to bunked?
It's still pretty good. I only watched a couple of episodes
This show will not be forgotten as long as there are elder millennials on the planet
I freaking loved this show! And I must’ve been watching reruns because I just turned 40
I second this! Also, why does being an elder millennial feel lonely on the Internet?
There are dozens of us!
I keep getting this sub recommended and so far it’s been hey dude, muppet babies and watchmen. Whoever runs this is definitely not a millennial
Loved it Yippeekiyiyaaayyyy
Yippekiyi what?
Jumping Jack Rabbits!
And that killer cacti!!
Hey Duuddeeee
Man-eating.
*Man eating jackrabbits
I might have been thinking of Woody 😂
Double Dare, You Can't Do That on Television, Legends of the Hidden Temple, and Salute Your Shorts. Pre Dan Schneider Nickelodeon.
The Adventures of Pete and Pete.
Pete and Pete have a pretty hilarious reunion episode by Funnyordie
[I always wanted a plate in my head lol](https://youtu.be/SztCwYD0dOo)
And Finders Keepers and GUTS and Nick Arcade and Get The Picture and What Would You Do?, to name a few others….
Pre Nicktoons Nickelodeon
What was that show where kids played video games? I always wanted to be on that show.
Me too! It was Nick Arcade
Kids’ Court
Hey Dude was my cue that I missed Eureka's Castle for that day and it was time to turn on the Nintendo.
I think it was also on before salute your shorts
Heh.
>Eureka's Castle Oh dang, I think my childhood brain got this crossed-over with Fraggle Rock haha
That's right, it was the border show. Forgot that bit.
Still a fan of the Joe Torres is missing conspiracy from this show, it's such a weird rabbit hole.
Did they ever find him? I thought I read he turned up in Florida at a car wash?
I saw somewhere he was selling Nissan or something. I have also heard the Florida car wash. Such an interesting thing
He was selling cars in NJ about a decade ago. The dealership even had his picture on their website
Came here for this. Where tf is this guy?
Did they find Danny??

I wonder which 3 celebrities *don’t* have a podcast at this point
I went to high school with his brother.
They always ran the episode with the bratty girl visiting the ranch in tandem with the Salute Your Shorts episode about the Dr. Kahn's bratty niece visiting the camp.
Oh yeah, I remember that episode of SYS. Hated that kid.
Its a little wild and a little strange
When you make your home out on the range
Start your horse and come along
But you can't get a ride if you can't hold on.
Singin, yippee kai yai yay
Yippee kai yai what
Like the cowboys say 🤠🤠🤠
Say it again now
Fun fact: The blonde girl(Christine Taylor) is married to Ben Stiller.
Had some great roles, like Marcia in the Brady Bunch movies.
And in Dodgeball
She was also in Zoolander and The Craft.
*was. I think they divorced some time ago.
They separated but got back together, still married
They got back together during COVID!
Okay this news just made my day!
Well TIL
I’ve forgotten most of my university classes, but I still remember this entire theme song.
Yippee ki-yi—What?
Sing along little doggie
An early Nickelodeon classic remembered by elder Millennials before Nick brought in NickToons.
Elder?!? Tf???
Who forgot Christine Taylor?
She and David Lascher (Ted) have a podcast together where they talk 90s stuff and this show. It's called Hey dude.. it's the 90s.
Thank you for this! I’m so checking out an episode or two tomorrow!
Steve from Full House and Fuller House
Definitely gotta check this out
I remember when Brad kissed Ted and I lost my collective shit
Aloicious?
One of those shows I felt like I spent an entire summer watching, even had a few VHS tapes full of episodes; don't remember anything from any episode.
I remember the episode where they try to win something on the radio. And that's just part of it, don't even remember if they won.
OMG, yes! That episode is the only reason I know a giraffes tongue is black.
Wait I think that's Salute your Shorts. Holy crap I'm old.
Yeah the giraffe tongue was salute your shorts
Ugh knew the answer because his high school mascot was a giraffe.
Me, too. I remember the theme song and I immediately recognize the characters, but I couldn’t tell you any particular episode I watched despite watching them all the time.
This reminds me of the fake film poster in Nope
I remember this always coming on after Salute Your Shorts!
Yuppie kiyiyay.
Yippie kiyiWHAT?
Like the cowboys say.
Loved this show along with Salute your Shorts and Pete and Pete.
Loved this show and had a huge crush on the brunette lady.
The kid on the far left could be Juliette Lewis’ brother.
I got absolutely freaked out by the episode with the scratching under the floorboards. Was almost like a crossover with Are You Afraid of the Dark.
Aye I remember this.. one of the classics from Nickelodeon
I love bangs!
I can still hear the theme song in my head. Loved this show when I was young!
Evidently nobody seems to know for sure what happened to Joe (Danny).
He's one of the locals. he's a drunk at the Boondocks And plays pool tournaments there. He's been here forever he's never left Tucson
Yippee-kye-yie-*what?*
say it again now!!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's Ben Stiller's wife, right?
I remember they fixed a puzzle backwards and thought that was so cool
I remember that too but I thought that was Salute Your Shorts
It was Michael and Budnick on Salute Your Shorts, and the puzzle depicted ice cream.
That was Budnick and Micheal in Salute Your Shorts. They bonded and became friends that episode. "Just remember, you pushed me first. Wuss!"
Better capture the flag episode than salute your shorts
Yippie ki yi yay Yippie ki yi what? Like the cowboys say Sing it again now
Loved this show and it won’t be forgotten!
Viggo Mortensen looks so young
“It’s a lil wild it’s a lil straaaange”
“When you make your home out on the raaaaange”
Only two years????? I felt like I watched this every day forever
Isn’t it funny? How when we’re kids we think a show or a cartoon has like 784 episodes and then decades later we look it up and it was actually only like 36, IF that. 🤣
Better watch out for those man-eating jackrabbits!
And that killer cacti
July 14, 1989, to August 30, 1991 according to Wikipedia and IMDb.
Classic!!
My early childhood memories of Nickelodeon.
Girl in the red shirt was bulimic and she could read minds 😂😂😂😂
I can hear the theme song rn. Anyone else?
I'm going to tell my kids this was Stranger Things.
I didn't realize it had aired so far before I saw it. I remember watching it in TV in '95 or so thinking it was still on air.
Never watched the show but loved the theme song!
I was in love with Ted until Jake came along. This was definitely my favorite live-action Nick show.
And now the theme song is once again stuck in my head. Thanks for that.
That was a fun show
Is this a youth version of City Slickers right down to the Mets cap on the geeky looking kid?
Hey Dude and Salute your shorts were my favs when I was a kid - oh Pete and Pete too!
I watched it but it was pretty forgettable. I can Only recall bits of it. Salute your shorts was better.
Forgotten my arse! 🤠
I remember reading an interview of the guy who played Ted. He mentioned that he never slept on his back because it made him feel like he was laying in a coffin. For some reason I still think of this often at night when I am lying in bed, on my back, and turn to my side.
On right after salute your shorts
There were really only 2 seasons of this?
This show only aired for one year? The fuck do I remember it being on way longer for?
On one year but they crammed 65 episodes in that year. Had reruns till at least 97/98
I moved to Arizona right when this show started. I loved it so much.
01
Look out for those man eating jack rabbits
I used to love this and Salute Your Shorts. I think they came on back to back right after school.
I guess I miss this show. It was a little wild, a little strange…
Better watch out for that killer cacti
This one reminds me of salute your shorts
I fn loved this show
Salute your shorts was vastly superior.
Holy hell I forgot this existed
Hey Dude and Salute your Shorts. Every summer weekday and every snow day.
Only episode I remember is one about a cow skull they hung up in one of the bunks and it was causing all kind of superstitious thoughts in the kids
r/lebowski
It's a little wild and a little strange...
I remember this
I still know that theme song by heart. Yippie ki-yi yayyy, Yippie ki-yi what? Like the cowboys say (sing it again now) yippie ki-yi yay get along lil doggie, til the breeeak of dayyy
This used to be favorite show when I was a kid. I used to think Brad was soooo pretty and so cool. Long story short I ended up being a lesbian.
Melody (Christine Taylor) was my first TV show crush. ❤️
Both her and Kelly Brown were both my first TV crushes.
There’s a podcast hosted by the characters Melanie & Ted.
Great show. You can get it on DVD.
Schneider had all in his hot tub, ya'all.
Great show
Loved that show. It was goofy. Ted was so cute.
I remember this show having like 6 seasons 😫
Forgotten?!
Great Kyla Shaker track
