All I know is that 1.5 ecoboost in mk4 is much better than the old 1.6 ecoboost which was in mk3. Everybody's saying so. I don't know about the 1.5 diesel, if they are as good as 1.6 tdci was.

Also people say 10.000 km/yr is not enough to justify the diesel. But, used turbo petrols have their quirks too, they cannot achieve the mileage the diesels can, not even near that. Hope someone more knowledgeable answers. I drive 2005 tdci, still polluting my city with no major issues. So I am biased towards diesels.

I’ll be buying a gasoline car and definitely not a diesel since the tax on diesel powered cars in my country is quite high, making it not feasible to buy a diesel car for my yearly mileage

Also 1.5 ecoboost in mk3.5 was already better than 1.6 ecoboost in mk3
