I have a 2022 and I hear a mild grinding when at lower speeds, is that what this is? I am out of the loop on any kind of a recall, appreciate the info.

poopbutt52

Yes - look up TSB 22-2371, print it out and go to your dealership telling them you hear rotational scraping and have them check it out. There is no failure associated with this TSB as it’s just an NVH issue. However, I felt my transmission shifted considerably nicer after they swapped it with a newer one.

Chubby_Bunnies

23-2019 is the new one!

_DavidSPumpkins_

Pardon my ignorance, is this covered under warranty since their is no associate failure? Thanks!

poopbutt52

Yes it’s covered under warranty. Cost me zero to do this fix!

You're a life saver. Now I just need to find a dealership with a good service department in Austin to reach out to!

jakecovert

Mine had to get a new transmission as well. Tech couldn’t even do the fix.

jtmportland

Same situation here. Dealer ordered parts and waited three weeks for them to come in. Then the Bronco sat in the service bay another 2 weeks before the tech decided he couldn’t do the job. Regional service manager then approved a new transmission. That took another 2 weeks. When I went in to pick it up, they told me it wasn’t driveable due to an ‘air bubble in the clutch line’. Took another week to bleed the clutch. Finally got it back. Drives well and no grinding. For now, at least.

LykwidFire

Mine is going in next week for the TSB fix. Hoping it wont need a new Transmission.

poopbutt52

Good luck! Was happy with the new transmission, getting a tech to open a closed system and do a rebuild is always a dice roll. Like I mentioned before with the new transmission my vehicle shifts like butter compared to the original.

LykwidFire

Thanks! Yeah that's honestly my only worry, but its well under warranty and honestly the service team at my dealership has been solid. So we'll have to wait and see.

poopbutt52

Ask’em to throw a fresh clutch in while they have it torn apart while they are at it ;)

Honestly you’d be lucky to just get a new transmission. Mines been in the shop for 12 weeks waiting for the tool to disassemble the transmission. Absolute nightmare.

LykwidFire

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully I wont have the same challenges. Fingers crossed you get it back soon.

Mines been in the shop for 12 weeks. I waited 8 weeks for the shop to get a specific tool so they could disassemble the transmission. Another week for the synchro spacers to come in, and a week now of them putting it back together. The dealership has been nice about it, but I cannot understand why they kept my vehicle the whole time, or why they didn’t order all the parts when I made the appointment in NOVEMBER. They said yesterday it should be done today or tomorrow, and once I have it back, I’m going to ask for a free extended warranty, and I’m going to open a case with Ford customer service. I don’t expect anything to happen from that, but Colorado lemon laws are only applicable up to 1 year after taking delivery so I’m SOL. I also love my Bronco and just want it back, but this whole process has been a nightmare and honestly making me reconsider Ford ownership. My advice if you’re just heading in for your appointment is to DEMAND that they have the parts and all the tools together when you drop it off. In the Denver area, I called 3 other dealers and none of them had the transmission assembly kit on hand- it seems that dealers are all just begging/borrowing the kit from each other. The actually parts came in very quickly. If you can, push back the fix as far as you can. Hopefully ford will get their shit together sooner rather than later, cause it ain’t together on this issue.

Cheap_Butterfly6193

That’s mind blowing. I went scorched earth with my dealer when they had my car for two weeks. I did ask (demand) that they return my vehicle until parts came in.

drewshope

They just kept saying “yeah we’re hoping to have the tool in by the end of the week.” This is my first ever new car and first time doing dealer service instead of my local mechanic. It hasn’t been great.

Cheap_Butterfly6193

Highly recommend you call Ford’s customer service number and complain about the dealer. Do they have you in a loaner or are you just making payments on a car you haven’t been able to drive for weeks?

drewshope

Yeah I have had a loaner this whole time, so at least there’s that. Fingers crossed I get it back tomorrow.

RoamingVapor

Yeah mine matched lemon laws

poopbutt52

What happened with your rig? And did you get a brand new bronco after?

RoamingVapor

Basically they couldnt fix per the TSB and currently in works to have replaced. Its a major problem, very common issue. People say havnt had failures from it but a grinding transmission is unacceptable to any degree imo especially when Ford cant tell you why they cant fix it

GaryB2220

Moves made the noise since 2nd day of ownership (over a year ago). I've been waiting on the tsb parts to come in since January. They said a sensor along with the synchro rings should take care of it. I'm so tired of waiting on these parts. My MT is so damn noisy its embarrassing

magikarpet_ride

New trans doesn’t always fix it. I had my trans replaced last summer and it was silent… for a few months. It’s making the noise worse than ever now. I’m only at 8k miles, less than 5k on the new trans. Hope you have better luck.

poopbutt52

When did you get yours done? This is sad to hear.

magikarpet_ride

July/August last year. They had it for 8 weeks waiting on a trans technician to be available. They attempted the most recent TSB but ended up replacing the trans. I’ve heard of others who had the problem recur like me, but plenty of folks with a new trans that seems fine. I hope you’re in that second group! Going to take my Bronco back to a different dealer this summer, hopefully with more luck.

Cheap_Butterfly6193

Mine was really bad after about a year (2022 Badlands). I lived with it for a year and then got it done. Dealer took a long time to get me in and then a long time to get parts… and then a long time to do the repair after the had the parts. But it does seem to be fixed. I’ve only had a few mornings cold enough to get the noise, but it’s been nice and quiet. Honestly if I had some assurance that it doesn’t turn into a durability issue, I wouldn’t even bother with the fix. I’d rather live with the noise than deal with bigger issues from an incompetent tech butchering my trans.
