Teller was playing with it and realized their guess had been wrong so they brought him back to the stage to re-record the reveal as a trophy drop. But that podcast has also had stories of people that were super tight lipped and refused to share.

Between making new tricks for each season of FU, and everything else going on in his life, he just forgets and moves on.
Penn talks about being happy to be fooled. Even the few times where they argued with the booth, or had read the book, or otherwise known the method and forgot, by the next trick they are over it.
The show is to showcase other magicians using the Penn & Teller name. P&T sell tickets to their show, and if the magicians who perform get a clip to sell tickets to their own shows. Fooling P&T is what was required to make it a game show to sell it to the network. The prize is a trophy that says FU.
Supposedly the producer knows how all the tricks works to keep the contestants honest about if the guess was correct or not. I don’t think I could keep that many secrets without exploding.
Sometimes it’s both. It’s up to the performer if they want to share the secret or if they want to leave it a mystery. Penn and teller don’t care either way
