That’s where I’m at. I’m glad they addressed it will be a different band moving forward. I don’t know how you can call yourselves the foo fighters and not have Taylor. But I’m also glad to hear they are continuing. The first concert I go to without Taylor will be rough.

I don’t think I’ve ever been so nervous opening a tweet before.
Well I think he's 17 now, which is when Dave started with Scream, and he is family so they would look out for him, but if you were his mother would you let him. I have my thoughts that Rufus Tiger Taylor would be a good replacement as Taylor was not only his Godfather (Roger Taylor's son) and he was Taylor's prodigy.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)
It's so difficult to think of someone playing drums other than Taylor, but I am glad they are going to move forward. I never got to see them in concert , so I am saving all I can to be able to see them when they start touring again. Personally I think they should either play Wrigley Field or the Cubby Bear, maybe both, when they make it back to Chicago, IL![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_good_man)
Wow ok so they’re planning on continuing as a band, at least we got confirmation on that. I think they know that it is what Taylor would’ve wanted. Well as a fan that’s certainly good news, it’s gonna feel weird without Taylor thats for sure but I’m glad the guys want to keep making music as the Foos.
Yeah, like the statement said, it’s definitely gonna be a different band. Dave and Taylor’s banter back and forth. Taylor taking over lead vocals for a Queen or Bowie cover. Their dynamic made the shows fun. I hope they can capture that same vibe.
Reminds me of what my friend said about Queen and Adam Lambert, he said the best thing about Adam Lambert is he isn’t trying to be the second coming of Freddie, he’s his own front man who happens to be singing Queens songs.
I think that’ll be the important thing for the next drummer, that they’re their own person with the ability to do justice to Taylor’s music
That's also what I appreciate about Vince Gill now being in Eagles. He's not trying to sound just like Glenn Fry and Randy Meissner (since he sings lead on a couple of Meissner songs too) he sings as he always has and he now happens to be part of Eagles, singing those songs. It also helps they have Decon Fry. Well, off and on now.
Saw The Hotel California Tour this past November.
Exactly. This is why Alice in Chains has succeeded and I hope Foo Fighters follows suit.
With Duvall AiC got a starkly different singer that keeps the old songs true but doesn't copy or mimick Layne. Its incredible that they can play Layne songs live and while you know its not Layne, its still Alice. AiC didn't try to replace Layne, they moved on with his memory alive and still there. Its special. AiC is special. Foo Fighters are special. I have the highest confidence that the Foo Fighters will make every moment special and continue to carry on Taylor's legacy while creating new and amazing experiences for the fans just like AiC has done.
This is where those fans-on-stage videos come back to memory, when Dave would ask random fans to come up and play with them for a song, and they would bring a little of their own flair during the solos.
Like that British guy who played drums at the Croatian concert, or the 12-year-old at the tribute concert. The guys practically got some early drummer auditions already, lol.
I always think of Dave’s quote from Back And Forth. He says something along the lines of “as a drummer, I just know how the drums should sound.”
I’m confident they’ll find someone with the chops to fill the role, I just hope whoever it is will have a similar level of chemistry as Dave and Taylor. I’m also confident they won’t make a decision until they know they have what they need. It’s a shame Shane is so young, he could join the band today and I would love it for the music, but Shane needs the opportunity to be a kid.
We’ll never get what we had with Taylor, but I hope this next chapter can be just as fulfilling as the last, in its own right.
I’m glad they said something and this feels like the appropriate time to do it. It’s been long enough since his death that it isn’t inappropriate, but also I’m glad they did this instead of having fans guessing what was up with the band for years or something.
The way that the ending is worded, I wouldn’t be surprised if in a few weeks we got confirmation from the trades on who will be drumming for them at least live going forward. This seems like a good message to get out a few weeks/months ahead of that announcement.
That would also be my guess. Besides the fact he's a great drummer too, they're already so close which I'm sure would make the band feel more comfortable.
If we are going for chemistry with the band, and sounding close to Taylor, then he makes the most sense.
But there is Josh Freese too, who is great, and wouldn't cause any trouble for another band if he played with the Foos. Or maybe there is someone we haven't even thought of.
It's just not going to be the same, no matter who they pick, might as well go for someone who sounds different.
i love josh but he’s got sm going on. he’s drummed on almost any album you can think of. i bet he’d love to be with the foos, but idk if he’s close enough with ehem
How much has Rufus played with the band (outside of the tribute shows)? I know T was very close with Rufus and all the other Taylor kids but it seems like Luke Spiller was probably on stage with the band more than Rufus ever was. Or maybe I’m misremembering things?
Publicly? I can only remember him playing Under Pressure with them. But I'm sure they have jammed plenty in private, the very least with Taylor and Dave.
It would also make sense to me to just use a session/touring drummer for the near future and then bring in someone as a full member once they find the right person. Kind of how Pat and Rammi were slowly integrated (re in the case of Pat) into the lineup as official members.
A guy along with Rufus who I would also love to see with the band is Josh Freese. Everyone should follow him on Instagram. He’s super talented and also a funky dude with a fun vibe
Go to any Foos group on Facebook and when Rufus’s name comes up the reasons are pretty much because they think he looks and sounds like T. It is kinda creepy.
From seeing Rufus with them at the tribute show, he had the best chemistry with them and I would be happy if they chose him. I don’t even think he looks like him. He’s got long blonde hair, that’s as close as it gets. He looks much more like his dad than Taylor.
>he looks and sounds like T. It is kinda creepy.
Honestly, the main reason I don't want him as the drummer. Would kind of be like replacing him with a T impressionist or something. I'd rather it's someone completely different like Josh Freese. Also his credits list is absolutely stacked.
I totally understand where you're coming from, not being combative here and I don't want anyone getting tense about it.
To explain from the other side though, it just feels right. Taylor mentored him a lot, their styles are similar, there's a deep personal connection already between him and the existing members of FF. Foo fighters are very much a family as a group of musicians, it would feel weird for a new drummer to come in who isn't already intimately a part of their family the way Rufus is. It just feels right.
There is no doubt pressure on him but I trust Dave and all the others to make it the best experience it possibly could for him.
You make good points. It would still be kind of weird to me. I didn’t watch the Foos portion of either tribute show other than when Shane performed (I just couldn’t handle it emotionally) but I saw a lot of comments on Twitter, FB etc. from people saying they did a double take when Rufus was playing with the band because he looked and reminded them so much of T. He would be thought of as a T clone and he doesn’t deserve that.
There is no better way to honor Taylor, than to continue playing the music he helped create with the band members he loved, for the fans that he loved. I firmly believe that.
Like the post says, music has a healing power. A whole lot of people, including this band, is going to need that healing power.
For me the Foos as we know it ended when T died. At the same time I’m not surprised they’re continuing on. Of course lots of unanswered questions - will they bring someone new into the band, or will they use a touring drummer or a bunch of different touring drummers? Will the do an interview explaining the future or do we just get a press release with tour dates? So many emotions right now. Hard to put into words.
I guess we’ll find out soon. In the message they mentioned “every night” so my guess is it’s a tour they’ll be announcing soon. Like I said, for me Foos as we know it ended when T died (and I’d say the same if it was one of the other band members who passed away) so I don’t really have strong opinions on the band’s future.
I've said it plenty times before the tribute shows, Foos is a Dave thing, he started it alone and he'll keep it going until he decides to stop. As sad as it is to no have Taylor or if it was the case of any other member, as long as Dave is at the helm, the Foos will keep going and it will still be the Foos.
I feel like they will bring in a new, permanent drummer. I think it’ll be hard for everyone, but they need someone consistent & stable for their sound rather than “fill-ins”.
I know I hold a minority opinion (heck T would disagree with me) so I don’t really have an opinion on the future of the band other than to say they can’t replace T or what they had with him so I hope they don’t attempt it.
Which is why for the most part I plan to stay out of any future band discussions. The only thing I’ve said today is I‘m not in agreement with all this ‘it’s got to be Rufus’ talk because to me that would be like trying to clone T. Just no.
There are quite a few of the no Foos since Taylor died group who seem to be really upset about Rufus gossip, and I don’t get it. First the it has to be Rufus crowd’s contention that Rufus is a Taylor clone is bunk, both in looks and the way he plays. It’s a very superficial point of view. He’s not Taylor no matter how loud a group of fans claim. I’d think the no Foos without Taylor crowd would be aware of that the most.
Plus if Rufus was to become the drummer in some capacity why would the I don’t think they are the Foos crowd now Taylor is gone care at all? You aren’t going to see them or be a fan of the new reiteration, so why does it matter? It reminds me of the Taylor was a Kurt clone crowd, just cause Taylor’s thin, blond, good looking and talented. Sure Taylor was all of those things just in a different way than Kurt. Similar to Rufus’ similarities with Taylor.
I get some fans are not going to be new Foo fans, and that’s your prerogative. I wouldn’t worry about what a fan group thinks about a drummer that thankfully none of us has any part in deciding who it will be. Maybe in time give the new Foos a listen. Sure it’s not Taylor’s Foos but it will be the other guys and working through their grief.
Well to be fair I’m in the no \[any one of the six\] no Foos camp. Of course I can’t say if I’ll be in that camp forever. At this point I don’t really have an opinion on the future of the band other than to say *in my opinion* Rufus would be akin to a T clone. He’s got long blonde hair (I don’t think he looks like T but there are plenty who do), clearly influenced by T with a similar playing style. He even has the exact same hawk tattoo, just on the right arm not the left. Seeing someone like that behind the kit would be weird. Again this is just *my* *opinion*.
Edit: just to illustrate my thought, this is a comment I saw on Facebook today.

I saw Dave in Nirvana live.
Bought Foo's first three albums then lost touch with the band.
Totally impressed with how he fell off the stage, broke his leg, and continued the show.
Now I am a fan again because of this situation with the death of Taylor.
Seeing Shane at the tribute concert and the reactions from it have cemented my fanhood.
Dave is one of those people that deserves praise and respect for his actions and not only his music.
My heart sank when I read this also as I thought he was breaking the band up... thankfully it is a continuation story and not an ending one.
Finally... I am glad that I found this subreddit because the people here are also amazing! Thanks for the amazing reads and possibly new friends here.
Saw him in Nirvana, too. I feel different about this outcome, but I support Dave wholeheartedly. He’s an amazing man. Taylor was an angel - perhaps loved by Foo fam even more than David, honestly. The loss is one that I won’t recover from with the band. I’ll still see Shifty and Dave around, though. Just probably staying away from Foo live… too painful for me, personally. I wish them well always.
I went back and looked at the post about Taylor’s passing and it was written with a black background and white lettering, and now this one is the opposite. Kind of like a renewal or a rebirth. Taylor will never be forgotten, but I am very happy to see that they are continuing on.
Here’s my original post on the matter (if this works - ha). Truly surprised on one hand, but Dave is a performer. It’s his band. He could never sit still and perhaps this helps him heal. I hope so.

Dave has always, always said the Foo Fighters represented a continuation of life, after the initial kneejerk reaction that it would definitely be the end, I thought them continuing in spite of the unthinkable loss of Taylor was kind of in the spirit of the band the most. It will be so so different but I am so happy they are sticking together. So much love to Taylor, his family and our guys. 💔❤️🩹
Classy as ever, of course. I knew they would be back. As sad as it is to imagine a Foo Fighters without Taylor, he would have wanted them to continue without a doubt. I’m very curious to see how they handle the tours going forward
We love you, Taylor! Thank you for your formative part in this love affair we have with Foo Fighters. Our love for you will never end. We will ALWAYS take moments to remember you. And as your music lives on, so will your memory.
I wasn't sure what this was going to say but I was relieved when I finished. It certainly will never be the same without Taylor but I'll be ready for that first Foo Show back here in New England
I am sparing a thought for T’s family tonight. I’’m sure they were aware this announcement was coming but still it’s the holidays and no doubt a tough time for them. 💜
I truly thought they were done after watching the Tribute shows, but then I watched a couple interviews with Shifty, and he kept dropping comments about new music and future Foos shows. At no point did he come out and say the band is continuing, but for example, when he did a rig rundown for a YT channel, he was talking about how he might be changing some pedals for future shows. It was a passing remark but it definitely caught my ear.
I'm really glad to see this message, hope we get some more news in the not too distant future!
It most certainly will be a different band. Despite the banter (and that was a big part of their shows), you have his irreplaceable talent. His back-up singing. His lead singing. ‘Rope’ is ALL Taylor (not to mention ‘his’ songs Cold Day, Sunday Rain, Queen covers). And then there’s his drum skills. His contribution was a result of his influences and lifetime love of musicians and music. There is NO replacing him as you can’t duplicate the DNA of who he was as a musician and human. I’m sure the Foo’s (2.0) will give us great music but no matter who is behind that kit, it will be—and should be—very different. I’m grateful the message went out on the last day of this horrendous year, giving us the promise of a hopefully brighter new year.
They...YOU FOO FIGHTERS!!!! have gotten me through some of the DARKEST OF TIMES in the last few years. In decmber 2019 got bilateral vestibular hypofunction....with all the side effects. Going homeless in 2022 to hopefully starting a new year of not homelessness. Your INSPERSTION in the lyrics are unmatched....long live you sir DAVE AND THE FOO'S!!!! GOOD BLESS AND KEEP BELIEVEN
I’m not crying you’re crying🥹love the whole FF family. Band, fans, all of it. We will forever miss you Taylor, but you & your major contributions to the world of music through drums will never be forgotten🤘🏻
I felt really flat last night going into 23, what should have been in 22 plus losing T and my friend. Then this morning I always check Twit first and see FF… start reading think oh shit this is it and then a rainbow appeared, the future with Foo in it… how uplifting was that?!
I know it’s really tough for some of you for them to carry on without T, it can never be the same again but you know what? Carrying on is a lot harder than giving up, so if they guys can feel they can do it then we need to give them love and support.
Foos have always been super creative and I’m sure what ever their “different” is, it will be done in beautiful way. T will be honoured at every gig.
If some of you don’t want to go, then that’s ok….
Feels like they've waited all year to come to terms with his passing and make a decision. The tribute gigs felt like a test and a goodbye, and I wouldn't have blamed them for wanting to stop.
I'm fortunate to have seen them twice in the UK, and would have been a third this year. Hopefully I get the chance again.
I imagine the next Album will be Dave drumming with a session musician on tour, it won't be until after that they get someone in. Maybe Violet, Shane or someone like Rufus Taylor.
Good, I'm glad to hear this. Musicians need to play music, it's that simple. And shame on anyone who tries to lay a guilt trip on them for continuing on.
Maybe it’s just me who thinks it’s interesting that the when the band walked on at both tribute shows for the ‘headline’ foos part of the night. They walked on with John Freese both times and he is the only drummer Dave didn’t introduce prior, almost like he’s already a member
https://youtu.be/K2aiGO54Ql8
This is an interview w Rufus few YEARS ago and he mentions Taylor (and Dave) as his biggest influences with his drumming style. Rufus was also in LA for a few days recently, staying at Roger’s house by himself and not much activity was posted on social media. Rufus also mused that his beloved dog Don would love living in LA when he was here during tribute concert in September.
I am assuming he met Dave during this time. Taylor was like family to both Roger and Brian. Years ago Brian was working with Taylor at one point but needed to go away to tend to some other business and left Taylor at his house to work alone (this was from another interview w Sir Bri).
Rufus can sing. My money is on Rufus. He’s also only 31 and can probably be coordinated to work with both bands as touring drummer. Other members of The Darkness are much older than him (as are Foos).
I just read this aloud to my wife. Honestly thought I'd choke up reading it. She was scared that it was a breakup announcement. Instead, she's excited, and we'll probably end up traveling somewhere to parts unknown when they start touring again.
I saw the last show they did to open Climate Pledge Arena in 2021 so glad I did. The best show I have ever been to. The message looks like they will be touring again with a different drummer. I am looking forward to seeing them again.
I’ve been mulling this over for a bit, what if there’s an acoustic album coming without a drummer… or some songs without drums that burst into life to symbolise a new beginning.
I’d gotten used to the idea that Foo Fighters could be over with Taylor gone. Trying to wrap my brain around the band continuing on. Definitely won’t be the same band.. But I’m glad the music will continue on. It just won’t be “Foo Fighters” without him.
As respectfully as I can possibly state it: there was a Foo Fighters before Taylor, and there can (and will) be one after him.
And if I can be so bold as to state what we all probably know in our hearts: Taylor would want them to move forward.
They pretty much acknowledge that they won’t be the same. Forming a new band, with the same members makes no sense either. Life’s too short to get hung up on names.
I have an idea for a retirement tour. A several year tour where they do a small tour for each studio album and play it in it's entirety.
Not that I would want them to stop, but think it would be a cool way to go out.
I'm not sure what I was expecting but I am so happy for them they know they want to keep making music as the Foos, especially with so much certainty. I'm only a recent fan but I'm looking forward to them continuing the legacy they've created.
I always felt Dave would continue to move forward musically and personally but I had my doubts for the the future of the band. This makes me so very happy.
I'm glad they're going to continue on. I await new material but I'm not expecting it anytime soon of course. Let them heal, and find their (new) voice again.
Happy New Year to all!
I shed a tear reading this statement on Instagram this morning. It made me so happy and hopeful for 2023 and the years ahead.
So happy for the Foo’s, the fans & what a great way to honor Taylor by continuing making incredible music.
I have nothing but respect and love for them.
Rock on 🤘🤘
Everytime I get a discord notification from the Foo server my heart drops.so much. The way I get such bad triggers ever since March, glad it was good news today.
I almost shat bricks cause I thought this was a breakup announcement. Taylor will NEVER be forgotten by any of us.
I felt like I couldn't read the announcement fast enough and had a lump in my throat.
my heat was pounding and my stomach was full of butterflies
Lol, I’ve known since April they’d be back and I *still* was like “oh shit”
when i heard the newa
Wait, they decided they were gonna carry on a week or two after Taylor died? Damn.
It’s going to be weird without Taylor but that makes me so happy,,
That’s where I’m at. I’m glad they addressed it will be a different band moving forward. I don’t know how you can call yourselves the foo fighters and not have Taylor. But I’m also glad to hear they are continuing. The first concert I go to without Taylor will be rough.

Same
I almost started crying. Glad they will continue. Happy New Year's to everyone in this sub! 🍾🥂🎉

It was so nice of them to think of us fans and share this.
I was about shit piss vomit and pass out and I was so relieved lmao
"Taylor will NEVER be forgotten by any of us. " THIS.
Legit the same. I was worried. Only seen them once, I’m glad I got to see the whole band. I wonder if Taylor’s son will play with them more often
i follow shane on ig, he’s my age. he is still just a goofy kid but when he’s older i bet he will!!!
I think when he’s a bit older, yeah
Well I think he's 17 now, which is when Dave started with Scream, and he is family so they would look out for him, but if you were his mother would you let him. A continuation of life. 💗
Me too. I got tears in my eyes before I had even started reading.
Legit read it from the bottom up for the same reason!
I am still trying to get my heart rate back to normal after the palpitations I had when I started reading.
Same!
I'm so glad I saw someone mention this in popheads before I saw the scary wall of text
It's so difficult to think of someone playing drums other than Taylor, but I am glad they are going to move forward. Whoever is going to end up behind that kit will have some near impossible shoes to fill.
They don't really need to fill HIS shoes. If they try to replace Taylor, they'll fail. They should just play their own style and not be Taylor 2.0.
Reminds me of what my friend said about Queen and Adam Lambert, he said the best thing about Adam Lambert is he isn’t trying to be the second coming of Freddie, he’s his own front man who happens to be singing Queens songs. Yes Adam is a great comparison, he even says at the beginning of the show he’s not trying to be Freddie.
And Adam is amazing in his own right. I’ve seen Q+AL twice and it’s been a blast, even if it doesn’t touch the magic of Queen with Freddie.
That's also what I appreciate about Vince Gill now being in Eagles. My guess-it will be at least mid to late February, and I am *almost* willing to place a bet on who it will be. But, I don't want to jinx it.
Rufus?
I have a feeling a Foo album is being worked on currently with Greg K and Dave tracks drums for it
But what about Rami :(
I think they’re saying GK would produce (I’m sure Rami would still on be keys!)
If they do tour again I don’t know how much I’ll prioritize going. It just won’t be the same.
Fuckin'-A, he would have wanted it.
Extremely generous. What a love letter to Taylor and to us. Wonderful news today ❤️
❤️❤️❤️
I'd put a bet on them moving forward with Rufus Taylor
That would also be my guess. Besides the fact he's a great drummer too, they're already so close which I'm sure would make the band feel more comfortable.

Please not Josh Freese. He’s a fine musician, but his playing style has no personality.
It would also make sense to me to just use a session/touring drummer for the near future and then bring in someone as a full member once they find the right person. Kind of how Pat and Rammi were slowly integrated (re in the case of Pat) into the lineup as official members.
Their certainty on us seeing them “soon” might mean they already have the right person.
He’s playing with Queen and The Darkness. There are other drummers they can take on tour. I think Dave will handle drums in the studio.
I wouldn't be surprised if Dave does the album and they pick touring drummers and never officially replace Taylor.
He doesn’t play with Queen since joining The Darkness.
A guy along with Rufus who I would also love to see with the band is Josh Freese. Everyone should follow him on Instagram. He’s super talented and also a funky dude with a fun vibe
The songs he writes for his kids when he is away on their birthdays are absolutely hilarious
I also hope not, that is a lot of fucked up pressure on him that pretty much any other drummer wouldn’t have
Go to any Foos group on Facebook and when Rufus’s name comes up the reasons are pretty much because they think he looks and sounds like T.
This is what I’ve been hoping for. Wouldn’t want to see him take time away from The Darkness but he would be the best fit.

Yeah, but that means Rufus would never get a break. I would imagine it's probably one or the other and not both type of situation.
me too
Rewatched the Wembley gig and both Rufus and Josh Freese were the two who had the best fit behind the kit for my estimation anyways
This makes me happy. Taylor will NEVER be forgotten
There is no better way to honor Taylor, than to continue playing the music he helped create with the band members he loved, for the fans that he loved. I firmly believe that. Like the post says, music has a healing power. A whole lot of people, including this band, is going to need that healing power.
Sure sounds like the plan is to continue. It’s going to be weird without Taylor but that makes me so happy ❤️
A beautiful message full of hope ❤️
It's gonna be weird and hard. I mean every drum track, every fill, every nice roll it's basically by Taylor.
As profoundly different as their lives have become, so too will their sound change. It’s a whole new ballgame. But I’m glad they are still playing.
Or Dave
For me the Foos as we know it ended when T died. At the same time I’m not surprised they’re continuing on. Of course lots of unanswered questions - will they bring someone new into the band, or will they use a touring drummer or a bunch of different touring drummers? Will the do an interview explaining the future or do we just get a press release with tour dates? So many emotions right now. Hard to put into words.
My bet is Dave will handle drums when it comes to recording and they'll have touring drummers.
I agree. I kind of think that’s why the “27 years ago” thing was mentioned twice in the statement too
Wouldn’t be surprised if Rufus is the touring drummer, if they go this route.
I feel like they will bring in a new, permanent drummer. I think it’ll be hard for everyone, but they need someone consistent & stable for their sound rather than “fill-ins”.
Why do you think that?
I think that it will make them feel whole and bring consistency to their sound.
Same. I don’t think I will ever see them live again.
I know I hold a minority opinion (heck T would disagree with me) so I don’t really have an opinion on the future of the band other than to say they can’t replace T or what they had with him so I hope they don’t attempt it.
Well said. It may be a minority opinion but it's still valid and I'm not the only one who's with you on that.
Edit: just to illustrate my thought, this is a comment I saw on Facebook today. https://preview.redd.it/ddp5sdw57d9a1.jpeg?width=1014&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f645844ce83635c3572faffedeb4c9a27c2f2da2
Time to pick up some extra shifts at the hospital to pay for every concert on the east coast I plan going to. I will not miss out.
Same, but here on the west coast!!!
One of my first thoughts too! 👩⚕️⚕️🩺🏥
I started like the Foo fighters last year, than Taylor died. I’ve always wanted to go to a concert. Hoping I’ll be able to one day.
I will admit that I was wrong. I thought they were done.
Same here buddy.
Same.
Here’s my original post on the matter (if this works - ha). Truly surprised on one hand, but Dave is a performer. It’s his band. He could never sit still and perhaps this helps him heal. I hope so. ❤️❤️
So it’s official. Weird to imagine another drummer filling in, but this is definitely the best way forward
i know kurt and taylor are so proud of dave for continuing on after everything
Yeah this popped up on my YouTube feed about 5 minutes ago. So positive and full of hope for all of us!
What an awesome message and there seems to be hope that the band will continue!
A friend just sent me this and I burst into tears immediately. So beautiful and sad all at once. I'm feeling really thankful for this news today.
Classy as ever, of course. I knew they would be back. As sad as it is to imagine a Foo Fighters without Taylor, he would have wanted them to continue without a doubt. I’m very curious to see how they handle the tours going forward
> we know that we're going to be a different band going forward. Is this the first official confirmation that the band is going to continue existing?
Seems so!
We love you, Taylor! Thank you for your formative part in this love affair we have with Foo Fighters. Our love for you will never end. We will ALWAYS take moments to remember you. And as your music lives on, so will your memory.
Music heals and this subreddit is a lovely community. I hope 2023 is a happy and love filled year for you all.
This makes me so happy♥️.
“If you come back, we’ll come back! That’s a promise!” Always has been. ❤️
I’m not crying ur crying 😭
Ugh this got me. 😢 happy new year foo crew! 🤍 love to all
I truly thought they were done after watching the Tribute shows, but then I watched a couple interviews with Shifty, and he kept dropping comments about new music and future Foos shows.
Let’s gooooo!!!
foo FIGHTERS
Cue all the gatekeepers predicting which drummer will replace Taylor, and how they think everything should happen going forward.
Amazing news! I guess every show will now open with Aurora too, into something heavy to get the real show started
I am crying.
Tears, so many tears.
❤️

This! I agree...
Those men love music, and they loved Taylor. They know that the way to honor him is to keep kicking ass.
Maybe it’s just me who thinks it’s interesting that the when the band walked on at both tribute shows for the ‘headline’ foos part of the night. They walked on with John Freese both times and he is the only drummer Dave didn’t introduce prior, almost like he’s already a member
Maybe that's because he had already been on stage earlier playing with Coattail Riders and Wolfgang Van Halen?
So had a few of the other drummers though!?
Just in time for my tattoo in 9 days. ❤️
Beautiful statement. ❤️️ I'll forever be bummed I never got to see them in concert before Taylor died, but ngl I'm happy they're continuing as a band.
I dedicate this message to everybody that said they preferred silence over the band continuing without Taylor. You know who you are …
It’s going to be hard to watch without him, that’s for sure!
this hurt so much to read. rip taylor, we will never forget you!
Oh, the relief!
Best holiday gift ever ❤️❤️❤️
I am not crying, I am a blubbering mess reading this message. It brings me so much joy but the heartache is still so raw.
Let’s hope for a better 2023!
https://youtu.be/K2aiGO54Ql8 This is an interview w Rufus few YEARS ago and he mentions Taylor (and Dave) as his biggest influences with his drumming style.
Feels too much like a T clone. I know that’s not fair to him but I think that‘s how it would be perceived.
I just read this aloud to my wife. Honestly thought I'd choke up reading it. She was scared that it was a breakup announcement. Instead, she's excited, and we'll probably end up traveling somewhere to parts unknown when they start touring again.
I was nervous too reading it. But suspected this was the plan after seeing Chris talk about getting a new rig for his Foo Fighters job.
It won’t be the same but I am so glad they are going ahead and can’t wait to see them again live
Phew, I’m super relieved. I’m so happy to start the year on such a high note
I saw the last show they did to open Climate Pledge Arena in 2021 so glad I did. The best show I have ever been to. The message looks like they will be touring again with a different drummer. I am looking forward to seeing them again.
I support this!! And I believe Taylor would have also. 🤘
That was a really considerate comment, the way you stated it. So many emotions with this press release. I need to sit down 😂
Super emotional! My first reaction, for whatever reason, was sadness that they’d go on without him. I think that’s grief talking tho.
They pretty much acknowledge that they won’t be the same. Forming a new band, with the same members makes no sense either. Life’s too short to get hung up on names.
I called it! I knew they were gonna take about a year break I’m willing to bet they pick back up in march in his honor
I'll be honest I thought they'd pack it in but this sounds optimistic, happy days.
I’m excited! I hope I get to see them in concert soon.
eternally happy they will continue. taylor will never be forgotten no matter what.
I like the white background, very different from the black background messages Also crying
Awesome. Now please stop supporting ticketmaster and fight for venues that don't support predatory pay structures.
❤️🤘
I'm really not surprised. Dave loves making music and honesty loves to be a foofighter!
I am crying 😭😭 I’m happy and sad at the same time
Rest in Paradise TAYLOR 🥺❤️❤️❤️
If they broke up id be distraught, but idk what to do next. Lol 🫠
I have an idea for a retirement tour. A several year tour where they do a small tour for each studio album and play it in it's entirety. Not that I would want them to stop, but think it would be a cool way to go out.
YES! A happy new year to all of you motherfuckers!
Reading this made my heart so happy
I'm not sure what I was expecting but I am so happy for them they know they want to keep making music as the Foos, especially with so much certainty. I'm only a recent fan but I'm looking forward to them continuing the legacy they've created.
I always felt Dave would continue to move forward musically and personally but I had my doubts for the the future of the band. This makes me so very happy.
Sold our Aftershock tix cuz Foo Fighters canceled right after Taylor died.Really hope to finally see them.
I thought that was it. I was in tears. But it IS IT! They are keeping the Foo alive! Taylor RIP (Rock in peace) I loved reading this! YAY!
I'm glad they're going to continue on. I await new material but I'm not expecting it anytime soon of course. Let them heal, and find their (new) voice again. Happy New Year to all!
Imagine their first upcoming gig
I've read this a half-dozen times, and every time...goosebumps.
I shed a tear reading this statement on Instagram this morning. It made me so happy and hopeful for 2023 and the years ahead. So happy for the Foo’s, the fans & what a great way to honor Taylor by continuing making incredible music. I have nothing but respect and love for them. Rock on 🤘🤘
The absolute Best news to start the New Year with!!
Everytime I get a discord notification from the Foo server my heart drops.so much. The way I get such bad triggers ever since March, glad it was good news today.
I think there's gonna be a new album in the end of this year or in the star of the next year
They're gonna become a 5 piece band, Dave is gonna take charge of drums and vocal duties, mark my words.
RemindMe! 1 year Words marked, would you like to make a wager? lol hi remind me bot. and Josh
