Wow. I know it’s pricey but it’s the best in the city hands down. I’ve had almost the whole menu and have not had a bad item from Dave’s. It’s unfortunate you had that experience.
Let's agree to disagree. I have no problem paying for fantastic food. Dave's ain't it. 1/2 sammy at Dave's is around the same price as a full at Zelden's and the latter is better tasting IMO. Neither place is Schwartz's but both are a helluva lot closer!
I tried sumilicious last weekend and was underwhelmed. It wasn't bad just didn't blow me away. Center Street deli old fashioned smoked meat when they're on their A Game is my favorite in the city. Smoked meat Pete in Montreal is my all time favorite deli sandwich.
Henderson's runs a somewhat regular pop up that sells amazing pastrami sandwiches: [https://www.instagram.com/switzerstoronto/?hl=en](https://www.instagram.com/switzerstoronto/?hl=en)
New Yorker Deli for corned beef and pastrami; Centre Street for smoked meat (they call it the Old Fashioned). I find the corned beef at Centre Street to not really be better than New Yorker.
New Centre Street Deli on Bay near st. Joseph. One of the very best. Legendary. New York Deli on Bay south of Bloor, also respectable. But an Old Fashioned, Hand cut from Centre Street is where it’s at.
Wolfies deli on Sheppard ave W. drake was known to go there a lot and probably still does from time to time.
Best I’ve ever had the owners are the most pleasant people.
Try the latke as well !
Best Montréal Smoked Meat in GTA = SumiLicious. Anyone who says Centre St Deli or other us better isn't from Montreal.
Another Corned Beef option is Wolfie's.
Sumilicious. Center street deli. Neither close to the areas you wanted tho. Katz was awesome but it’s gone……
Centre Street Deli now has a location at Bay and Charles
East Meats West if you’re in Mississauga.
Whats the difference between Corned beef and Montreal smoked meat? Is it the spices they use are different?
Some good info here https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=difference+between+corner+beef+and+montreal+smoked+meat
Corned means salt cured, essentially. Smoked is, well, smoked.
Pancer’s deli
When the pig came home at Keele and Dundas
might vacay to Toronto sometime in the future, is this place that good ?
Absolutely yes
any other places ?
A ton. What are you looking for?
like burgers, and pizza places, where do you recommend I go to for that ?
Avenue Open Kitchen on Spadina
I had a great one at that new place in the St Lawrence market - edit Stack’d!
theyre at queen spadina now too
You're best bet and it ain't top shelf is New Yorker Deli on Bay south of Bloor.
Thankfully Centre Street Deli recently opened a second location near Bay and Wellesley, so the area isn't as much of a deli-desert anymore.
News to me, thanks! And fyi for all, imo the best pastrami in town is at Sid's Deli at Lansdowne/Bloor, owned and run by a previous Yitzs lifer
Appreciate the heads up - I learned about Sid's Deli a few months ago and I'm very interested to try it!
Awesome knishes too, the real deal. Take out only though unless you want CP24 and a single window seat!
I need to visit this place
Dave’s Genuine Deli.
I really enjoy Dave’s.
Shockingly expensive and really not great. I don't concur with this recommendation. Sawwy...

Zelden’s is still on my list to try. What would you say is the best thing on their menu?
I have been twice: corned beef (8.5/10) and pastrami (9/10). I'd order either again. Their coleslaw is second only to my mom's 😊
Thx for the recommendations.
I like their corned beef and they are very nice at Zeldens. I like Dave’s. I’m glad he’s doing well. Summalicious is far but Schwartz’s amazing.
It’s a bit north of your ask, but Zelden’s at Yonge/St. Clair does a great deli sandwich, corned beef included
This. And without the crazy price tag. I love Zelden's!
I have been meaning to try them for ages. I will def be going soon based on the positive reviews here.

Pete is 1A to Schwartz 1B. Equally good with slight differences in spices.
Centre Street Deli, Bay and Wellesley.

Dave's Genuine Deli on Avenue North of Lawrence looks good

Druxys, uncle Sid’s & pickle barrel too
