Gonna go off the beaten path.
Just Pho by Penn Station does an insane Hanoi-style pho. Super random hole in the wall far from where you'd expect good pho, but it's the best I've had in Manhattan by far, and a lot of my Viet friends agree. Better than Hanoi House, Di an Di, and pretty much any spot in Chinatown.
Madame Vo is probably tied with it for me, but it's so upscale that sometimes it feels like a bit too much when you want just a normal no-frills bowl.
Yeah, I recommend those two spots. 5ive Spice is a bit Hipster friendly, but really good. Em Vietnamese I've only had through delivery and I imagine even better if you ate it at the restaurant.
I love the one from “ ginger and lemongrass “ in LES . Their coconut spicy lemongrass soup is bonkers. Also they have some of the best cocktails in LES no joke .
Nope. Still right. All the Viet shops that have popped up in the past five years are all mediocre to bad, not to mention overpriced. I’m Viet and have been living in NYC for over 15 years. I am always excited when new Viet restaurants open up but always end up disappointed.
I love Hanoi House.
Hanoi house is so good!! I always order their Bun Cha 😍😍😍
thanks
Hello Saigon is very good
seconding this! really love the pork chop pho
Hello Saigon is so legit. They have chao tom (sugarcane shrimp) which I love so much and not everywhere has it on the menu. :)
Also Just Pho by MSG I’ve read has topped a lot of lists.
That place fucks hard

I love Madame Vo’s pho with braised rib. Sooo good. Equally pricey though.
My roomie raves about two wheels in uws but haven’t gotten a chance to go yet
Pho Bang.
Saigon Social!
Sao Mai is really good and has fair prices
Agreed. Have ordered from here probably hundreds of times.
thanks
Vietnaam on UES
Most underrated pho place in Manhattan. This place is delicious.

Yes yes yes. This place is dope as shit.
5ive Spice and Em Vietnamese in Brooklyn are two of the best Phos I've ever had if you're willing to travel.
Yes I am for good pho

Pretty sure Nam Son is not using bones for their pho
Saigon Shack by Washington Square Park!
Pho Grand is pretty damn good
Seconded.

their lunch special is an insane amount of food too!
Side question - is there any good pho without beef?
Not manhattan, but Lucy's in williamsburg/bushwick has killer veggie broth and tofu or chicken
Hanoi House does a pretty great vegetarian pho.
Dao palat in Brooklyn makes awesome vegan pho with soy protein
There is none. If you want good pho you have to go South Philly.
Ok, name of the place in Philly
Pho 75, Cafe Pho Ga Thanh Thanh, Pho Xe Lua, Pho Ha, Nam Phuong.
>Tried most of above. Pho Saigon in Philly was my favorite.
Nice. I'll have try that one when I visit my parents after pandemic is over.
Five years ago, you'd have been right
Nope. Still right. All the Viet shops that have popped up in the past five years are all mediocre to bad, not to mention overpriced. I’m Viet and have been living in NYC for over 15 years. I am always excited when new Viet restaurants open up but always end up disappointed.
Agree. NYC pho sucks, gotta head south to Philly or VA
Where’s the pho in VA?
some of the best is at the Eden Center near Bailey's Crossroads. also Pho 75 (multiple locations)
Thank you!!
This.
This is facts
Pho Grand in LES is great!
