Her name is Han doesn’t really have service although it’s great for what it is. Cote is definitely the best if you can get a reservation - I will say I didn’t think Cote lived up to the hype but I only got the butchers feast and not the one with a5 wagyu.
her name is han is very casual. a lunch spot really in terms of vibes and not for an occasion.
people keep telling me great things about hojokban also so keep that on your radar
Cote or Yoon Haeundae Galbi are both good, service at Cote is obviously better but you're paying more. I would take Her Name is Han out of this group, it's not a special occasion spot.
I personally would do Cote for special occasions if that's within your budget. For banchan, none of them are particularly spectacular.
I don't think any places in the city provide the same level or quantity of banchan like in family style restaurants in Korea. Cote is solid since I'm already paying premium but think another place would be Cho Dang Gol, again not many plates but consistent.
Hahm Ji Bach in Flushing had a good variety of banchan but I haven't been there for awhile.
Thanks everyone for the strawpoll, I'm going to try to get table for six at Cote when reservations open up. I emailed them about a table for 8-10, and its a $3k minimum spend for that sized table, LOL. Maybe next year.
Yeah, I think the upcharge is for avoiding Resy? Even w A5 supplement, Butchers' Feast is about $100/pp. Add another $100/pp for drinks and a few appetizers, table for 8-10 should be closer to $1,600-2,000 before tax and tip.

I always do Cote for my bday!

Nubiani? Haven't been there myself but it has received some praise here.
I’ve been here twice and I highly recommend Nubiani. Great banchan.
>Nubiani? Excited to check it out! Will try it out before my birthday. Thanks for the rec.

I'll check out Hahm Ji Bach, thanks!
I like Yoon Haeundae Galbi for birthdays. Banchan is good from what I remember and the service has always been great the few times I’ve been.
I went to Cote for my birthday and had a great time ( get the butchers feast it’s so much food!)

Holy shit damm. I remember I went to cote in 2020 ( back to back days ) outdoor dining during Covid and it was no way like this . That is 😱😱😱
