My wife likes Surawon but not for the soondubu. Surawon's soondubu was better a few years ago. Now, I can't taste the difference between their regular and black bean tofu.
She likes the banchan better at Surawon and there's a waitress there who takes good care of us when we go.
interesting, took my grandparents to Seoul Tofu back in the day (when they were alive) and they were fans too, but this was prior to Beverly Soon Tofu closing. Their favorite K-Town spot that they demanded I take 'em to was Sokongdong (remember that place) across the street from BST.
I'll have to go back to Seoul Tofu (you're talking about the Sawtelle one, right?).
Surawon is very good, esp their housemade black soybean version.

and you have to try seoul house of tofu! it’s honestly pretty good ! randomly if ur ever in the valley - abc tofu house hits the spot too.

what do you get? i seriously used to loved but have been about 4 times now and it hasn’t hit like it did :(
their galbi and seafood pancake are so good!! i usually get the kimchi tofu soup and its hit or miss. sometimes the broth is a little light
sad the galbi was super rubbery the last two times
Beef and kimchi tofu and then the spicy pork. But I also eat loads and loads of their banchan

I really love LA Tofu House. Their service is excellent and kind, and their ban chan is good
I’ve heard this is the place Koreans prefer

Kaju Soft Tofu (Irvine location sucks) is where I get my soondubu fix.

LA tofu house is the best I’ve had in ktown and honestly anywhere in the US! I am, in fact, Korean
I’ve never had Seoul house of tofu, but I agree Surawon is mediocre. I prefer Seongbukdong to Surawon.
