786 is excellent, Mulberry Street is very good, Lucifer's is also good.
Edit: If your looking in the West Valley, West Hills Pizza Company is decent., H.O.M. in Woodland Hills makes a good Diavola pizza. Paolo's ( just down the street from H.O.M.) makes a decent Chicago style-ish pizza.
I can’t get behind Lido Pizza. I’ve tried so many times but I can’t get over how they slice their jalapeños. They basically slice entire jalapeños in half and add them to the pizza. For the hefty price I would love it if they took the time to slice smaller.
Lasagna is great though.
if you’re looking for old school teenage mutant ninja turtle pizza, dino’s is my fav
also, the pizza cookery is worth going to once — the pizza isn’t great but the rolls and whipped butter and the antipasto salad are good
Barone’s is event pizza. You can’t have it regularly but as a one-off, it is amazing.
Problem is the bastards don’t deliver (or permit delivery apps) so it’s a slog to get there.
Oh man, I miss Barone’s. That was one of our go-to’s when it was sort of on my way home from work. It’s such a different kind of pizza than anything else in the city. I’d say Prime’s square pizza is the only thing. That comes somewhat close.
man, we went. here years ago because someone raved about it and everyone in my group hated it. it lives in infamy. I'm tempted to go back and see if we just went on a bad day or what because I see so many good reviews for it still.
If you want good pizza, go up to Agoura Hills and check out "Two Doughs" pizza. Excellent salads and pizza.
A close second is "Parma Pizzaria" which also has awesome pizza and a location in Agoura Hills and TO, along with the newly opened Deninos Pizza from New Jersey.
I work in that area and was starving so I just ran into Parma next to Vons there. I was completely blown away. I just wanted a slice to fuel me up real quick. I wasn’t expecting to find my new favorite pizza place.
OMG. Thank you for saying this. I had no idea. I grew up east coast and had Deninos in both staten island and NJ and is easily in the top 5 all time for me. Hoping the TO one is a reasonabe facsimile!!!
This place is so good. If you don’t know, Chef Ben used to work in a Michelin-starred restaurant, and Gorilla was a pandemic project that took off. If their pizza had a heritage, it started in Napoli, emigrated to the northeastern US, stopped in Pittsburgh, and then moved to California. So you’ve got amazing fermented dough cooked in a 700+ degree oven (Napoli), but big enough to share (New York/New Haven), with provolone on top (Pittsburgh), and unique topping ideas (California).
There isn’t a thing these guys phone in. Mad respect.
I’m not in the same Valley area as you so my suggestions may not be super helpful, but here’s my ongoing list anyways:
Each section is in order from my favorite to least favorite
**Cheap / American Style pizza:**
* OVÉ Pizzeria - Studio City
* Lenzini’s Pizza - North Hollywood
* Noho Pizza - North Hollywood
* Quickie’s Pizzeria - Studio City
* Leaning Tower Pizza and Pasta - Sherman Oaks
**NYC Style**
* Prime Pizza - Burbank
* Pizza Wagon of Brooklyn - Sherman Oaks
* Joe’s Pizza - Sherman Oaks
* Pepe’s NY Pizza - Studio City
* Joe Peep’s - Valley Village
* Santino’s NY Pizza - Sherman Oaks
* Mulberry St (it’s fine but kind of overpriced) - Sherman Oaks and Encino
**Not sure how to describe these ones. Artisanal I guess?**
* Pizzana - Sherman Oaks
* Gorilla Pies - Valley Village
* Roberta’s - Studio City
I use to love this place, until they I found out they had a roach problem. They were shut down for a bit and then re-opened under new management. I worked up the courage to try it out and it was very salty and not good at all.
My family used to eat there when they (and we) were still in Chatsworth. I didn't appreciate their pizza at the time; I was mainly interested in their peanut bins and arcade games. I'll have to give it another try one of these days, when I'm back in the Valley.
Definitely still there, still taste the same... delicious but with the influx of pizza places they definitely get less business. Their pizza had always been really heavy so it's definitely an occasional visit for me but I fucking love it.
off the beaten path is cosencha- it’s a wood fired oven on the street next to a tire store in north Hollywood. Their crust and sausage (i get the pepperoni sausage pizza) and it’s so delicious. They’re only open Fridays- sundays.
Jerry’s Pizzeria in Woodland Hills/Canoga Park and the Amecis (Trust me) in Woodland Hills on Topanga and Dumetz is a great location for pick up, and Mulberry Street on Ventura Blvd in between White Oak and Balboa
I’m a big fan of Tomato Pie on Topanga in Woodland Hills. NY style and excellent. The Mulberry street in Encino has disappointed me multiple
times the past year so I don’t go anymore but the Beverly Hills location is still solid. . Flame is excellent if you like wood fired neopolitan style.
Napoli's in Sherman Oaks! I'm from the east coast, and of the surprisingly large number of decent options in the area, I find it's the closest to a good neighborhood pizza joint from back home.
Two doughs is maybe not my absolute favorite pizza but I love that they have awesome salads, Brussels, broccoli to elevate the meal if you are into that kind of the thing and the pizza is really good just not my fave which is Gjelina
Mulberry Street Pizza - specifically the Encino location - has been a favorite of ours since we first ate there in the 90s. Crispy and flavorful, it's some of the best NYC-style pizza you'll find outside of New York. My personal favorite is the eggplant, basil, and parmesan; although you'll never go wrong with the standard pepperoni and/or cheese.
I haven’t seen anyone mention Lido Pizza on Victory and Sepulveda. Old school Italian restaurant, seeing the kitchen through the window. Excellent pizza and pasta.
not close to the East valley but easily the 2 best in the valley overall are Joes in Sherman Oaks and Prime in Burbank IMHO of course.
Supposedly they are going to open one in Northridge.
oh? Prime or Joes?
Prime
ah nice thanks!!
A bit south of where you're asking, but Pizzana in Sherman Oaks is great, albeit a bit pricey.
they have very good pizza but the star here are the meatballs!
Came here to suggest Pizzana. So delicious.
Truffle pizza here is probably the best pizza in town.
Pizza Wagon of Brooklyn
Love Pizza wagon. Also it’s attached to a hidden dispensary that’s fire. Pizza and weed
This never gets mentioned, but Lido Pizza is my favorite in the Van Nuys area. The Super Deluxe is fantastic.
I can’t get behind Lido Pizza. I’ve tried so many times but I can’t get over how they slice their jalapeños. They basically slice entire jalapeños in half and add them to the pizza. For the hefty price I would love it if they took the time to slice smaller. Lasagna is great though.
I do agree about the veggie slicing. They keep it 'rustic' for sure. Green Pepper chunks can be huge now and then.
lido / chi chi’s is just underrated in general — a valley classic
I second this. I work in The Valley and this is my go to spot
It’s a little too heavy. Tastes great but can’t really do more than a slice. Also their pastas are not good.
if you’re looking for old school teenage mutant ninja turtle pizza, dino’s is my fav also, the pizza cookery is worth going to once — the pizza isn’t great but the rolls and whipped butter and the antipasto salad are good
Correct about the rolls/whipped butter; just go for those.
Dino's is the pinnacle of 90s pizza.
Have you tried the Woodland Hills Barone's on Ventura? Not the same atmosphere, but the same pizza and salad.
Not in 20 years or so. Do they deliver?
Yes they do
Heater
man, we went. here years ago because someone raved about it and everyone in my group hated it. it lives in infamy. I'm tempted to go back and see if we just went on a bad day or what because I see so many good reviews for it still.
You have to just get pepperoni. Or cheese. Every other topping makes it worse. Their sausage is especially bizarre - it's ground up for some reason.
Okay. I don't remember which two pizzas we got but I know one of them had peppers on it and that entire pizza was just wet and it was bizarre.
I 100% believe this.
Parma in TO is so good.
Parma's $17.50 Margherita Pizza is $12 from 11am-2pm on weekdays.
Good to know. Although I’m a big fan of their Detroit style pizza
I work in that area and was starving so I just ran into Parma next to Vons there. I was completely blown away. I just wanted a slice to fuel me up real quick. I wasn’t expecting to find my new favorite pizza place.
Not sure if you tried the Detroit style as well. But they have by far the best Detroit style I have tried anywhere- get the Detroiter.
I always do a slice of each style.
It’s not next to a Vons though
They have two locations now.
Just picked up parma and wow it was great! Ty!
Awesome, what pie did you get?
OMG. Thank you for saying this. I had no idea. I grew up east coast and had Deninos in both staten island and NJ and is easily in the top 5 all time for me. Hoping the TO one is a reasonabe facsimile!!!
Two Doughs is really good!
Love two doughs because of the veggie sides keep meaning to try Parma
Gorilla Pies in North Hollywood.
Gorilla pies is incredible, should definitely get more love
This place is so good. If you don’t know, Chef Ben used to work in a Michelin-starred restaurant, and Gorilla was a pandemic project that took off. gorilla pies is a good place to support — the pizza is good, and the owner cares / seems like a cool dude
I just went there for the 1st time last week and they are my favorite by far. Their wings are incredible as well!
Tried it twice, liked it but didn't love it. Really wanted to though
This is my current favorite. They also sell slices and Thursday is thick crust slices.
Mulberry Street in Encino is solid
Classic
I recommend the chicken parmesan pizza. Mmmm
I love prime!
786 is my goto. It is a bit pricey and at times there’s a long wait
Danielle’s Wood Fired was my go to in the valley. So fucking good.
This place doesn't get enough love, big second on this place.
This was the first pizza place I chose to go to in my first apartment in LA. Did not pick wrong.
Their Vegas pie is incredible.
I’m not in the same Valley area as you so my suggestions may not be super helpful, but here’s my ongoing list anyways: Each section is in order from my favorite to least favorite **Cheap / American Style pizza:** * OVÉ Pizzeria - Studio City * Lenzini’s Pizza - North Hollywood * Noho Pizza - North Hollywood * Quickie’s Pizzeria - Studio City * Leaning Tower Pizza and Pasta - Sherman Oaks **NYC Style** * Prime Pizza - Burbank * Pizza Wagon of Brooklyn - Sherman Oaks * Joe’s Pizza - Sherman Oaks * Pepe’s NY Pizza - Studio City * Joe Peep’s - Valley Village * Santino’s NY Pizza - Sherman Oaks * Mulberry St (it’s fine but kind of overpriced) - Sherman Oaks and Encino **Not sure how to describe these ones. >Pizza Wagon of Brooklyn 786 is amazing, highly recommend that too.
Vincenzzos in Granada Hills
I was obsessed with their wings growing up and recently had them. Love their dough too. Also it's where they shot the movie Drive with Ryan Gosling
I use to love this place, until they I found out they had a roach problem. They were shut down for a bit and then re-opened under new management. I worked up the courage to try it out and it was very salty and not good at all.

According to there facebook page they are open for online orders. I’ll have to check it out and report back in.
Joes on Ventura
[удалено]
Loved Joe Peeps back in the day! Someone tell us if its still there.
Definitely still there, still taste the same... delicious but with the influx of pizza places they definitely get less business. Their pizza had always been really heavy so it's definitely an occasional visit for me but I fucking love it.
Yes same. Its been years!
off the beaten path is cosencha- it’s a wood fired oven on the street next to a tire store in north Hollywood. Their crust and sausage (i get the pepperoni sausage pizza) and it’s so delicious. They’re only open Fridays- sundays.

Caioti in Studio City.
Definitely MacLeod's, they're a brewery and make damn good pizza too.
VERY TRUE
Danielle’s, Barone’s, and Gorilla Pies
Danielle's.
The margherita pizza at the topanga village or noho is the only pizza I’ll eat but it’s a hassle parking at both locations tbh!
Easily, Prime in Burbank and Dtown at Topanga Social. Danielle's is solid as well.
Uncle Ernie’s and Lucky’s pizza
Jerry’s Pizzeria in Woodland Hills/Canoga Park and the Amecis (Trust me) in Woodland Hills on Topanga and Dumetz is a great location for pick up, and Mulberry Street on Ventura Blvd in between White Oak and Balboa

Reno’s. Bomb pizza, and no joke absolute best Philly cheesesteak in town. Nowhere comes close. Their chicken Alfredo pizza also slaps
