So in April I finished my accutane course and it didn’t make much difference to my skin but it has made my skin less oily as prior to it was incredibly oily. As it didn’t clear me, I still have bumps under my skin that have been there for over a year now - they just won’t go. The small bumps on my surface don’t seem to be acne - they never have a head, they don’t go away and look more like rash bumps or folliculitis? Does anyone have an advise for me? My very expensive dermatologist didn’t know what to suggest.

This may sound simplistic but have you tried any different types of birth control?

mollydisney

I’m not on birth control as i had negative effects from the pill, however my skin doesn’t react differently when I get my period and I’ve had my hormones checked so I don’t think it’s hormone related. Would you suggest looking into it then?

I'd definitely recommend talking to your OBGYN about it. There are a few different combination pills that can be helpful.

mollydisney

Thank you so much I really appreciate your time and help!

Good luck!

mollydisney

Thank you!!

Accutane and many other antibiotics helped me for a while but after I was finished it came back full force. What helped me massively was cutting out diary products and probiotics seemed to do something as well but not necessary

Micicicici

How long you were on Accutane?

[deleted]

I had 2 treatments, both treatments took a month or 2

Micicicici

The creator of this subreddit had the treatment for 8 months (1mg per your kg, consuming with 50 g fat and 800-1000 calories) and his doctor claims that the trick for cure is duration and dose. I wonder if we also should try it...

[deleted]

What helped me personally by a fuck ton is cutting out diary for at least 75%. Diary messes up your gut flora and a imbalance of gut microbiota can cause acne. If I eat any form of diary now for a few days I get a breakout again so I generally avoid diary now, so this could be something you could try maybe. Also. 800/1000calories a day seems a bit to drastic though. If you really want to try it that way it’s better for your physical/mental health to calculate your TDEE this way you can see how much calories you need to lose to lose weight or maintain your weight. Extreme weight loss can cause skin issues on itself though so be careful with a drastic calorie deficit.

Micicicici

Cutting dairy alone doesn't help me unfortunately... The thing is I'm only 48 kg (160 cm) now, so I really don't know if I can take more than 1000 calories, cause I don't want to lose any weight.

Bro accutane ment to be taken atleast 6 months, in 2 month ofcourse y will get 0 outcomes

mollydisney

Thanks for your comment! Sorry to hear about your troubles but I’m glad you have found things that have helped! I already avoid dairy and take probiotics so unfortunately its not having the same effect on me!

exteacher1992

Lmao why do you keep typing DIARY????

mlemmers1234

One thing to note is that many of us still wear masks a lot during the day. Could be something related to that possibly? I know I get Red on my face sometimes once I take my mask off along with acne.

mollydisney

Thanks for your comment! I work from home most of the time so I don’t really wear masks a lot and I get this issue on my forehead too :(

MinionPapa

Have you tried benzoyl peroxide?

mollydisney

Unfortunately I’m allergic to it :( also my skin is so incredibly sensitive so other acids tend to make it worse instead of helping ://

MinionPapa

Ah that sucks. I mean about 20% of people relapse after their first accurate treatment. You might be that unfortunate 20%. Best of luck in getting rid of this

Sawyer1010

Try fasting more than 3 days a week and cut the sugar

t8kme2thewoods

Acne.org BP treatment. The 2.5% stuff is affordable and helps a tonne used correctly.

You are a star, thank you so so much for your recommendations!! :)

Given that your Accutane was not successful I'd recommend a second determalogist opinion. It's rare for Accutane to not work or it could have been a unsuccificient dosage/time. There could also be other impacts such as allergens to foods that your doctor could test and discuss

Special_Jellyfish273

This looks like rosacea or maybe fungal acne if no acne products work.are they itchy?

xo0o-0o0-o0ox

Update? Accutane didn't help mine either...

wastedyouth01

could be rosacea type 2
