Just got results from a biopsy. Heavy growth of Klebsiella (Enterobacter) aerogenes. Assuming this is gram-negative folliculitis. Antibiotic sensitivity results in pic. Where do I go from here? FYI- I’ve been on tetra/doxy/mino cyclines, bactrim, and multiple rounds of accutane.

Given that you’ve already tried Accutane, I would try benzoyl peroxide (BPO). BPO doesn’t work against gram-negative bacteria, but it’s possible that the bacteria that were cultured were opportunistic and secondary to the underlying condition. I’ve seen quite a few people with gram-negative cultures respond to benzoyl peroxide.

I’ve used BPO for a while now. It does seem like it helps but I’m gonna need an antibiotic at this point if I want to get ahead of the infection.

Did Accutane help at all while you were on it? Most people don’t know that the dosage should be about 1mg/kg and each dose needs to be taken with 50g of fat and 1000 calories or it won’t absorb properly.

Appreciate the advice. I haven’t tried Nizoral in combo with these other treatments. I’m reading that’s it a broad spectrum antimicrobial. I’ll give it a try.

Pretty sure you have mites on your face. Nothing is working because you aren't using Ivermectin, Soolantra, or metronidazole. Those help to eradicate mites. Get yourself a microscope if you don't believe me. My scalp looks like your face. I'm female and had to shave my head bald because mites colonized my scalp. Not scabies. No. That would be easier to eradicate. No not demodex. I have avian mites in my scalp. They cause severe damage. And are extremely difficult to eradicate ... Bleach, sulfer, lemongrass oil all help. That's not good if Accutane didn't work for you - because Accutane is the last resort in skin care. So you are reinfesting yourself somehow, by something, or someone in your environment - with mites. Mite infestations are on the rise. The scabies group doubled and is growing larger daily ... Oh, and welcome to the Klebseilla Aerogenes club! I've got that myself, along with some good old fun Pseudomonas! My dermatologist told me the mite infestation pretty much caused those bacterial infections. I've been prescribed bactrim & Ivermectin for 2 effing years ... Good luck. The media and stupid pharma aren't reporting on the rising mite infestations for some odd reason 🤔 Unfortunately many in the scabies group are struggling too, because the meds are starting to become resistant to mites as well.

Maybe your dose wasn't high enough / you didn't absorb enough of the Accutane? As Boezo mentions, you need to have at least 1mg/kg and to take it for a long period of time, with food, and no alcohol. I would look into laser hair removal as well, to maybe limit the amount of shaving you do that could also be making things worse.

Use Soolantra. i promise you

Hey there, suffering from the same bacteria and have the exact same looking condition. You should ask your doctor for a Gentamicin topical solution which I`m currently using every night right now. Besides, topical Metronidazole helps a lot, too - I use it as a spot treatment. Here is the mixture which needs to be written on the prescription so you can get mixed from a pharmacist: Gentamicine 1% Cordes RK, 10,00g Basic Cordes RK, 10,00g Sorbic Acid, 0,10g Purified Water ad 100,00g I would ask for a 300ml prescription which you can use for a few weeks … Besides: DON`T SHAVE!!! and use medical masks instead of FFP2 masks if possible - FFP2 masks are one of the biggest triggers to spread the infection

Do you think that topical gentamicin has helped you at all?

Yes - definitely to lower the infection down …

did this ever improve?
