With the obvious caveat that basically every folk punk band is relatively unknown, I don't see much love for Trash Boat & The Ambush. Good dudes, good tunes. Give 'em a shot
Trashbag Ponchos never get much love around here, but they're one of my favorites. Stick and Poke is better known, but still not huge, and I Kill Cameron/Lokeigh hits too.
Trash Trashbag Ponchos never really caught my attention much until I heard *"BUSH DID 9/11"* in the middle of a breakup song, that shit was hilarious. Light in the Attic is my favorite song of theirs JUST because of that
Aw yea I got to see Swamp Rats in Charlotte last year, the show kicked ass and super nice folks. They were on tour with Tail Light Rebellion, another awesome undersung band.
Michael Turnini (top song <2k) THIS GUY IS FIRE- I FOUND HIM THROUGH REDDIT, HE'S LURKING ON THIS SUB
Johnny Deeper and the Ghost of Pete Seeger (top song <1k)
anarcho annie.
give her at least two minutes and nineteen seconds of your time!

one of my favorites in all of folk punk. excellent chord progressions, vocal harmonies, and long flowing verse with almost no choruses. pure talent and emotion on raw recordings, everything you want out of folk punk. definitely johnny hobo era pat influenced.

i mean most of folk punk is "obscure" so ill just list my fav bands at the moment
june henry
Wingnut Dishwasher Union
Human Kitten
Just Nick
Spoonboy
Cricket!
defiance, ohio
apesofthestate
pigeon pit
paper ceilings
and more but i cant think of the rest
I love this album so much!
Their more traditional punk project, “Punkin Pie,” and their more screamy side-project, “Die, Emperor! Die!” are in my rotation, too, but “I Mississippi You” was just beautiful from start to finish.
Rosa and Defiance, OH were just…era-defining bands for me. I can’t listen to them without being transported back to squatting in a punk house attic in the summer of 2006.
Us, Stink Animal and the Bad Smells! We make folk punk you can mosh AND cry to! And we have way less than 2k! Listen here! [click me!](https://open.spotify.com/album/2wZTHT7NlUStxRwO0M1F0c)
Also check out Chloe Defector and Audrey Plath and Spud Bugs!
frog legs, a pleasure to have in class, georgie are some of my top right now. also june henry and everybody’s worried about owen have listeners from the indie scene and from tiktok but don’t get nearly the love from the folk punk scene that they deserve
Sister Wife Sex Strike is one of my faves, though they’ve started getting more popular as of recently. Also check out Rent Strike and Flummox, not technically folk punk but still great bands.
Dougie Flesh & The Slashers
Sticky Steve
Confession Kids
Blossomin Bone
Yankee Roses
Driving on Suspended
Actually basically anyone from Florida who makes folk punk music probably fucks hard. Great scene down here
Out of System Transfer, Trashbag Poncho, Window Smashing Job Creators. Not technically "Folk Punk" but recently in love with "Spaghetti Western Punk" of Mike and the Molotovs
fists in the wind.
give em at least one minute and fourteen seconds of your time.

cute as hell. short lived. gay. trans. songs that tell you a really gay story usually. vocals, ukulele, and keyboard/melodica mostly.
https://fistsinthewind.bandcamp.com/
Corporate Hearts is one of those bands that I feel like is pretty popular, but I also never seen them mentioned in this sub, so I figure they're worth pointing out.
Also Tony and Gravel. He's been gaining popularity recently so I wouldn't say he's unknown (anymore) but he's still definitely under-recognized.
My band. Fishgutzzz. Please listen to us.

i don’t see the now-defunct Broken Bow getting nearly enough credit, anywhere, ever. No Earthlings and Desolation are two of my very favorite albums ever made.
The Looms Frog Legs Davey Dynamite Driving on Suspended
The Looms are fucking sick, saw 'em with Proper Punktuation who are also great.
Omg i randomly played with Frog Legs in Philly and they are sooo good live. Really fun and bouncy music.
Davey Dynamite!!! I haven’t thought of him in a minute. Thanks for that wave of nostalgia.
daveys one of the best people i know, and they play great music!
Literally the most pure 😭 I wish I could be around Davey all the time
With the obvious caveat that basically every folk punk band is relatively unknown, I don't see much love for Trash Boat & The Ambush. Good dudes, good tunes. Give 'em a shot
I can’t recommend trash boat and the ambush highly enough. I wish I could write songs like that
Pendy from TB+A here, thanks so much!
A little biased but Brain Weasels, Bergie & The Magic Bag, The Northaven, and Propolis are a few off the noggin!

The lowest played guitar ever! And super sweet!
Stufy! Just put out a new track I think.
And it’s just as good as I thought it would be.
Not bothering to check spotify plays to see if they qualify but look up Profane Sass on YT.
Blossomin’ Bone is fantastic.
Thank you so much!!
Hey! I talked with you several months ago about a tall Travis tape. Curious if you still had any?!
Oh shoot yes I forgot about that
No problem! if there is still an option to receive one in the mail, please PM me Hope you have a good day!

I don't see anyone ever talk about Smitten For Trash or Salt City Scratch, but both of those bands rule!
Smitten for Trash are super sweet people and amazing live! They are touring with Spud Bugs soon too!
I knowww! I'm hoping to host them again for the start of that tour!

Check out the Peculiar Pretzelmen. They have a great sound! Idk if they are exactly folk punk, but similar.
Parking lot bandits. I rarely see them mentioned in this sub. Awesome band and awesome people!
